Rooms are spacious, beds are comfy and the whole atmosphere is really social and friendly.

The 8 bed dorm we stayed in was clean, big beds, comfortable, nice shower.

My friends and I extended our trip for a couple of nights with absolutely no problem, and the staff gave us really good recommendations for nights out and restaurants.

There are fun hostel activities you can choose to participate in for example, Sunday bbq and Tuesday night Tejo which are a really good time and a great way to meet fellow travellers as well as locals.

An exhausting day of adrenaline and excitement interspersed with the best food in San Gil (Gringo Mike's - outrageous US-Mexican portions).

Later still, was Tejo Tuesdays, Macondo's way of getting their guests to meet and greet over cheap beers while playing Colombia's official national sport, Tejo.

The Hostel is in a nice neighbourhood, directly in the Center with many restaurants and Cafés nearby.

We had booked ourselves onto a rafting tour that started from San Gil at midday.

They also have a board that shows you all the tours, the times and the prices.

There were also free organized activities including a tour of the fruit market and tejo tuesdays.

but mountain biking tour was fully booked.

No need to go to tour operators, book your adventures right there, don't miss out on tejo Tuesday nights, sooooo much fun.

They provide lots on info on booking tours and the majority you can book direct via the hostel at no surcharge and collection from front door.

They have a hot tub, and can set you up with any tours you'd like through the tour company to white water raft, paraglide, hydro speed, etc.

The stuff is really really friendly and helpful..they organized a horseback riding tour which was great with a terrific view, nice farm, good stable, well cared horses, and nice lunch at the farm..we also did a rafting tour which they organized for us..they also made some phone calls for us which was important for planing our trip..and as we took the night bus from San Gil to Medellín we could even use the shower and facilities after the check-out..we can definitely recommend this place!!

Sean is an excellent source of local knowledge, and can organise you a spot on all the local adrenalin tours, plus give you information about local walks/multi-day hikes, swimming holes, restaurants etc.

Luckily for me, Macondo is a pleasant place to be stuck. From the arrival, you are given an extensive schpeal on all that San Gil has to offer and more--and you'll learn that most tours can be booked directly from the hostel (I booked the fabulous Bike Junkie tour--highly recommend)

We stayed in room 6 on the second floor with 4 beds and a locked door.

The rooms were basic and the beds were really creaky, unfortunately this meant we didn’t sleep very well whilst here.

We stayed in a double room with private bathroom - the room was clean, lots of storage space and comfy bed.

Beds are clean and comfortable, hosts are super friendly and knowledgeable.

Comfy beds, good wifi, helpfull staff, laundry service, clean and the location is perfect.

The rooms are very clean, the beds are pretty comfortable, the people are fantastic (Thanks Maria!).

I found the staff to be friendly, the bed's to be comfortable and loved the ambiance the balcony overlooking the square creates among the guests.

I had 2 nights in a private room with ensuite which was super clean and very comfortable (the mattress was not amazing

Softer mattress than we've experienced in Colombia -

but I saw them bringing in new mattresses when I was there.

The beds were comfortable enough and the wi-fi worked well enough.

It is very clean, has good beds and showers.

Has two kitchens, a swimming pool, and private bathrooms in each four bed dorm.

but that dorm is really an 8-bed dorm (with a wall in the middle but no door).

Lock on the door was dodgy and the even lost our key. .

Only things that could be improved are curtains before the glass door of the private room.

This city is on the more humid side so the hostel does well to keep the windows and doors open to keep air moving.

The room we stayed in was like a sauna, no ventilation whatsoever and the fan was neither use nor ornament facing the door.

The curtain on one of the doors to our balcony was missing, so we had to rig up a makeshift curtain over the window using the remnants of the curtain rod, a small blanket we travel with and some rubber bands.

The staff Vanessa and Daniela were very helpful and friendly.

The front desk ladies are EXTREMELY friendly and attentive to all the guests.

When we asked if it was possible for us to go another night, as we wouldn't be in San Gil on a Tuesday, the staff pulled out all the stops to run the night for us, and even organised a mini-keg of beer for us at another bar after the tejo club closed.

It is right on the main city square, minutes away from the market, shopping mall and many restaurants and bars.

there is a pool, two kitchen, laundry service, massage possibilities and good priced beers in an always well equipped fridge.

The hostel was located very central so you had close to supermarkets, restaurants and atms.

Besides that, they make booking all the tours super easy and transparent, the wi-fi works fine all over the hostel, there is a great balcony overlooking the main square, and the location is great (erm, right on the main square).

They have wonderful adventure tours and the city itself is quite a nice place.

The tour guides that stop in here are very informative and helpful.

So he will help you plan your tours and explorations.

We wish we'd stayed longer to be honest - give yourself at least 3 nights here so you can enjoy the tours they offer!

My bed was super comfy and cosy and the breakfast was excellent!!

Excellent hosts that were always willing to help, comfy beds in both the dorm and luxurious yurt, chill hangout spot in the converted bus/movie room, campfires, pet goats (for high-quality goat cheese if you fancy it), tasty vegetarian meals for order, and access to activities outside of the standard adrenaline sports of San Gil (hike over the mountain to Barichara and a day trip to Rio Pescaderito were my favorite).

The very pretty Tipi tent with comfy bed and anti-muzzy net and circular size makes it very cozy and familiar.

The beds were firm and I think I slept better here than I have done all trip!

They have an awesome hammock area and really cool tv-bus with loads of movies and bord games. Also really comfy beds (beautifuly made!)

but there are plenty of blankets on the beds to keep you warm.

Not just another hostel with chillroom and nice bed, no, this hostel has turned an old bus into a great lounge spot, it has dorms, tents, yurts, goats, dogs, and best of all: great owners.

The beds were comfortable and it was wonderful to lay down at night and hear the sounds of nature.

Owner's Justin and Andrea are the most lovely, friendly, hard working and attentive people you could ever imagine and went out their way to make sure you were comfortable, safe and full of knowledge about the area and all the activities/walks you can do.

I actually planned to stay only a few days at la pacha because San gil should be only a pit stop on my travel from the north to Medellin. But the tranquil atmosphere, friendly people and cute pets at this place made me stay for 2 weeks :) 

Looking forward to come back any time :)
