My bed was super comfy and cosy and the breakfast was excellent!!

Excellent hosts that were always willing to help, comfy beds in both the dorm and luxurious yurt, chill hangout spot in the converted bus/movie room, campfires, pet goats (for high-quality goat cheese if you fancy it), tasty vegetarian meals for order, and access to activities outside of the standard adrenaline sports of San Gil (hike over the mountain to Barichara and a day trip to Rio Pescaderito were my favorite).

The very pretty Tipi tent with comfy bed and anti-muzzy net and circular size makes it very cozy and familiar.

The beds were firm and I think I slept better here than I have done all trip!

They have an awesome hammock area and really cool tv-bus with loads of movies and bord games. Also really comfy beds (beautifuly made!)

but there are plenty of blankets on the beds to keep you warm.

It has great location near San Gil and Barichara, comfy bed and agreat community laid back atmosphere!

Comfy beds, loads of space and no bug trouble because of the mosquito netting.

The hostel proposes double beds in yurts, dorm beds in a big dome and camping areas as well as a vegetarian menu and different services.

You can camp undercover/outside/on the mirador, stay in a dorm/3 bed Geodesic dome or a double bed Yurt each allowing for a unique and wonderful stay.

Cool yurts with comfy beds, friendly owners, cute dog.

We spent the first night in the dormitory, a large dome tent with 6 beds which was very cozy, and a tent in the woods the second night.

We stayed in the geodesic dome and the bed was comfy.

The hostel is about 15 mins from San Gil itself, and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere while staying there, whether it was on bunk beds with blankets, or on hammocks outside.

A brilliant getaway which shows that hosts can be much more than a bed & a bar!

Not just another hostel with chillroom and nice bed, no, this hostel has turned an old bus into a great lounge spot, it has dorms, tents, yurts, goats, dogs, and best of all: great owners.

There you can sleep on Tents, Domes or 4 bed Dorms at an affordable price.

The beds were comfortable and it was wonderful to lay down at night and hear the sounds of nature.

The hosts were welcoming, cooked me some delicious meals and gave me a lift back from town.

The owners really make sure that everything goes smoothly from day one and make you feel at home. The food is delicious (Try the curry!)

The facilities are excellent and clean and the food at the restaurant is delicious.

The accomodation is very comfortable and the breakfast made by Justin is excellent.

The accommodations are comfy and cozy, the chill areas are quirky cool, and the breakfasts are tasty and filling.

Tours can be arranged, the breakfast that is available is big and delicious, and tasty vegetarian food is also available at other times.

The homemade goats cheese was delicious and great value.

They sell their own goat products such as milk, cheese and yogurt and they were all delicous.

As well as guests there is a small volunteer community meaning there were always interesting people around and a nice communal vibe at breakfast.

But better order some delicious, vegetarian meals prepared by the owners :) The breakfasts are also great and very big.

Huge and delicious breakfast and the goats they have are very nice as well.

Bram and Layla are amazing hosts and there is a massive breakfast every morning for 10,000!).

La Pacha has comfortable rooms where you sleep close to nature, a refreshing natural pool, great food, lovely owners and peaceful vibes.

Justin booked taxis and even the night bus for us and provided us with many tipps. The food is amazing (especially the Indian Curry!)

You get the full package: relaxt, Great food, coffee, great surroundings, natural pool, history and outdoor activities.

Justin and Andrea were super helpful and the food was very nice, especially the curry and burgers.

We loved the tranquility, the super kind hosts and the amazing fresh food.

Andrea and Justin are soo welcoming, they made us great vegetarian food and also we learned how to make our own goat cheese which was very interesting (and yummie!).

Definitely the best goatcheese I ever ate!!

Try the goat yoghurt, as well the veggie burger!

Biew is insane, amenities clean and working, geosedic domes were very cool and food was also great!

You can find an incredible goats cheese platter with home made chutney here that I highly recommend trying, as well as a tasty vegetarian menu.

Visited La Pacha with Dragoman tour from Cartagena to Quito.

but we were instantly welcomed by Justin who gave us a tour of the wonderful set up he'd made,and gave us some pasta and home made sauce for free as we hadn't eaten yet! Right away we got planning how best to use our two days in San Gil (you need longer!)

From the start the staff was really welcoming and gave us a tour of the place explaining all the details and information needed for our stay in this amazing place.

but on your tour of the facility upon arrival, he will make it clear that you should use the composting toilet and other shower.

If you want to go for other free activities like hikes or city tours you could always ask Justin or Andrea.

The owners are so warm and welcoming, and a terrific help for organizing tours or giving advice on activities in the area and Colombia in general.

The food Andrea and Justin serve is excellent and they are always there to answer questions, help to book a tour or have a chat about life.

They were really friendly and helpful in giving us advice on where to go and booking us onto tours and activities in San Gil, as well as sorting our bus tickets when we moved on to Santa Marta.

Andrea and Justin are super helpful, they can help you with tours and help you book a bus out of San Gil.

They have good relationships with some of the local tour operators and make planning any trip a breeze.

I have a recommendation for the breakfast it is  basic for the kind of the hotel, it can be improved, with a breakfast buffet.

The Chef also prepared delicious food for us (one of us is vegetarian).

The breakfast area is truly spectacular with colorful birds coming to their bird feeders.

Next morning, we had the included breakfast and took off, could´nt stay to enjoy the spa and hidrocircuit included,

Every meal we had was delicious, and the kitchen was also very accommodating for my toddler daughter.

Only on Saturday we received a nice breakfast buffet otherwiese it was a basic Colombian breakfast.

Breakfast was included in our room price.

The spa is amazing we got a package that included massage and the flotarium and everything was delicious.

Bed and pillows were just perfect and breakfast was delicious!

The food is served at the hotel's Trattoria that offers great quality and a reasonably sized set of options, with fresh ingredients and skilled preparation.

Breakfast (included) is basic, most is prepared early therefore freshness is very low… breads and arepas were overheated so flavor and taste is very poor, fruits were fresh.

Rest of the week very poor service level.

there is only one down side the breakfast is of poor quality and has to be improved imideately.. anyway apart from that you can not go wrong booking this place.

but certainly the hotel suffered from some poor management decisions and problematic policies that diminished our experience signifigantly.

The massage was so relaxing and done professionally.

but feels like a retreat away from it all.

The rooms are simple yet very clean and comfortable, the location (10 minutes outside of Barichara) is tranquil and the views are spectacular. The restaurant serves wonderful breakfast (best arepas, ever!)

We had an incredible stay at Terra, the hotel is an oasis for relaxation and perfect escape for a long weekend away.

The great: the isolation of the rooms allow for complete silence with long and restful nights.

After a long trip from Australia, our plan with my family was to relax and enjoy Barichara and its surroundings, and we got exactly what we where looking for; rooms were amazing (comfy beds, really nice bathrooms, very cool decoration) with relaxing hammocks in front of each room, endless pool with an incredible view of Barichara, nice thermal pools and spa area, and excellent food service.

The fact of being small (20 rooms) and located outside town (4km from Barichara and 16km from San Gil), makes it the perfect place for a relaxing experience.

but rather a relaxing place with friends and employees committed to make you feel comfortable.

A true gem for the traveler who wants a relaxing time close to the nearby attractions of Barichara.

The upside of the location is the serenity and beautiful night sky free from light pollution.

All the reviews are spot on - it is truly a beautiful setting with gorgeous views of the mountains and a very relaxing atmosphere.

The room was excellent, great bed and amazing shower!.

Nice and clean rooms, with a great bed and so comfortable that you will rest a lot.

Great reception, excellent service, beautiful and comfortable rooms and bathrooms, Colombian breakfast and great location.

You are offered a variety of options for breakfast, every option is delicious.

Breakfast is included and all items served are fresh and represent the local cuisine.

The staff are always pleasant and attentive, bringing us a wonderful breakfast (included) that puts 'continental' breakfasts to shame.

The breakfast was excellent, served one day on the patio under trees and the next day under the loggia.

The hotel doesn’t have restaurant service, so you have to lunch and dinner in Barichara.

Barichara has lots of nice restaurants, we especially enjoyed Las Cruces and Don Juan.

I can imagine renting the entire property for a relaxed corporate BBQ or a family event such as a wedding or anniversary or birthday party.

The food was excellent - the best we had during our entire time in Colombia - and unlimited.

The first 3 trips were handled by the hacienda and the tour company picked us up.

We stayed in room 6 on the second floor with 4 beds and a locked door.

The rooms were basic and the beds were really creaky, unfortunately this meant we didn’t sleep very well whilst here.

We stayed in a double room with private bathroom - the room was clean, lots of storage space and comfy bed.

Beds are clean and comfortable, hosts are super friendly and knowledgeable.

Comfy beds, good wifi, helpfull staff, laundry service, clean and the location is perfect.

The rooms are very clean, the beds are pretty comfortable, the people are fantastic (Thanks Maria!).

I found the staff to be friendly, the bed's to be comfortable and loved the ambiance the balcony overlooking the square creates among the guests.

- Stayed three nights in a private room with private bathroom
- The lady at the front desk was very helpful and knowledgeable
- Comfortable bed, clean, nice bathroom, good wifi
- Shared kitchen you can use
- Centrally located in the main square
- We used their laundry service which was good
- Definitely go to Gringo Mike's for dinner, delicious!

Unfortunately Sam's VIP was then fully booked (I hadnt pre booked) so I went and stayed in Sam's Mansion across the square, my dorm room was so spacious with nice comfy beds; downstairs is a restaurant

I had 2 nights in a private room with ensuite which was super clean and very comfortable (the mattress was not amazing

Softer mattress than we've experienced in Colombia -

but I saw them bringing in new mattresses when I was there.

The beds were comfortable enough and the wi-fi worked well enough.

It is very clean, has good beds and showers.

Has two kitchens, a swimming pool, and private bathrooms in each four bed dorm.

Breakfast of eggs, fruit, bread, and coffee was fantastic,

Staff is very friendly, breakfast is included, wifi fast, they even have a roof pool available.

- They can help you book tickets and activities including paragliding, canyoning, biking tours and rafting
- Clean private rooms and dorm rooms
- Terrace over looking the square, central plaza
- Swimming pool and sauna

This place had it all in our opinion therefor they deserve this (extended) review!

Skewed meats sold in the park after 6 PM were delicious.

Amazing staff, great TV and chill area, two kitchens, a pool and sauna, amazing terrace to eat your free breakfast on and just a really well run hostel.

There's a large communal space upstairs where I could meet other guests over breakfast, and enjoy a sunny vista of the town plaza.

The breakfast is fine - fruit, cereal, egg and a piece of bread.

For breakfast they provide you with fruit and coffee - actually a quiet good coffee.

It has two kitchens so you can have your own breakfast for example.

End the night over at Sams Pub across the street, he is a very friendly guy and will fill you up with the most delicious Steak.

however you can visit Sam´s hotel across the square for breakfast, lunch or dinner or just to have a drink.

but that dorm is really an 8-bed dorm (with a wall in the middle but no door).

Lock on the door was dodgy and the even lost our key. .

Only things that could be improved are curtains before the glass door of the private room.

This city is on the more humid side so the hostel does well to keep the windows and doors open to keep air moving.

The room we stayed in was like a sauna, no ventilation whatsoever and the fan was neither use nor ornament facing the door.

The curtain on one of the doors to our balcony was missing, so we had to rig up a makeshift curtain over the window using the remnants of the curtain rod, a small blanket we travel with and some rubber bands.

Relatively cheap prices on beer and cigarretes.

The hostel is very clean and well located, next to shops, bars and restaurants.

It is located right on the main square and you can walk to any place for food or anything.

Did not gouge you on basics with reasonably priced craft/basic beer, water, food.

Sam's Vip hostel is located on the main square with shops, bars and restaurants nearby.

Sam's restaurant was the best food we had in this city and priced well.

The terrace area is a really nice place to eat, chat with others or chill.

Stayed there 3 nights, get helpful advices for activities with the family,  best restaurants.

When we asked if it was possible for us to go another night, as we wouldn't be in San Gil on a Tuesday, the staff pulled out all the stops to run the night for us, and even organised a mini-keg of beer for us at another bar after the tejo club closed.

It is right on the main city square, minutes away from the market, shopping mall and many restaurants and bars.

there is a pool, two kitchen, laundry service, massage possibilities and good priced beers in an always well equipped fridge.

The hostel was located very central so you had close to supermarkets, restaurants and atms.

Close to restaurants and shops in the town center.

the hostel also has a brother restaurant and i do recommed their great steak.

They helped us book our paragliding and white water rafting tours and also helped us print our bus tickets.

It is easy to meet other travelers and the receptionists (Melisa and Rosalva) were super welcomming and helpful with tours and transfer to bucaramanca airport.

It's a great place to be if you want to make the most of the extreme sports in the surrounding area as the staff are always happy to help recommend different tours.

The staff spoke English and we were able to book all of our tours through them which made it super easy.

Can help with adventure tour bookings and bus times and bookings also.
