I was reading reviews on TripAdvisor and noticed someone mentioned the room did not have aircon.

Only problem for us was that the room was so warm (in winter, with thermostat adjusted and windows open) that we did not sleep well at all.

We (including or children) definatley embraced the age and character of the structure, including the small 100 year old elevator and old radiator heaters in each room.

There is no air conditioning in the rooms.

To stop them from doing this you would need to turn the radiator off which then meant there was no heating in the room.

Heating and windows are a bit old school,

If there was a negative to report it would be the lack of AC,

It did get stuffy in the room due to lack of air conditioning.

When we arrived my only initial concern was the lack of air conditioning, due to arriving during an unseasonal warm spell.

As people have pointed out, there is no A/C in the room.

but as an old building in SF you need to know it doesn't have air conditioning.

Things you should know: there is no air conditioning (as a girl of the South this seemed heretical),

As there is no air conditioning, we'd leave the windows open at night and use the hotel provided white noise machine in our room to offset the small increase in noise from the street.

We did not enjoy our room, an interior room on the second floor, as it was quite small, had zero ventilation as evidenced by the two large fans blaring when we entered the room.

There were hairline cracks in our sink, no AC, older televisions that didn't work properly and very limited sound proofing -- we could clearly hear other guests closing doors and talking.

Staff is friendly and hospitable and service is spot on.

but well outfitted (love the Pelaton), breakfast offerings each morning are sumptuous, evening cocktail hour is delightful.

Items offered for breakfast are varied and delicious.

The buffet breakfast and wine happy hour with appetizers are fantastic.

They have best breakfasts and happy hours in the city, always with staff on hand to solve any wants.

Breakfast was delicious as well with lots of options including made-to-order omelets.

Wonderful pastries, cereals etc.-they will make any omelet you request.

Breakfast and evening reception include a large variety of impressive food and beverages.

The neighborhood is quiet.The onsite breakfast was lovely, as well as very convenient.

Breakfasts are a feast, huge choices, even omelettes made to order, enough food to satisfy even our thirteen year old.

We didn’t need to go out for breakfast and a couple dinners during our stay because of the great breakfast buffet and evening wine/food reception.

The afternoon wine tastings are delicious and satisfying,

The food is outstanding as are the morning breakfast and evening wine reception.

The morning breakfast and evening wine service are remarkable, both in quality, selection and presentation.

Breakfast was equally impressive, with both hot and cold options and plenty of high-quality choices.

Beautifully updated rooms, amazing breakfast, 5:00pm wine, heavy hor dourves.

The evening cheese and wine hosted by Catherine was a great way to start a night out and we thoroughly enjoyed all the wines we sampled.

Wonderful evening California wine reception with cheeses, charcuterie, fresh fruit available every evening from 5-7pm.

The food is first class, at breakfast and the happy hour  is much more than just wine and cheese.

The nightly wine, cheese, and a lot more was plenty of dinner for us also in the dinning room.

Complimentary breakfasts were better than most hotel choices, and the complimentary daily wine and cheese (plus many other dishes) from 5pm to 6:30pm was fanstastic.

There are delicious ripe berries, breads, pastries, eggs, meats, cheeses, cereals, juices and smoothies.

Our highlight being John's evening selections from the excellent array of local wines and cheeses.

The complimentary breakfast is amazing, with homemade scones and other pastries, bacon, fruit, smoked salmon, cheese, etc., etc., etc., plus the world's best coffee!

The breakfast is quite a spread,  including a selection of smoked salmon, meats and cheeses, along with an excellent selection of fresh fruit and baked goods.

For breakfast besides a beautiful spread of yummy pastries, fruits, cheeses, yogurt and granola, they also had fresh made smoothies and juices.

The cocktail hour with wine, cheeses, and hot dish were good by most standards,

2) free tea and coffee downstairs (and apples) 3) amazing breakfast buffet - beautifully presented and served in a lovely light airy room - huge choice even scones and clotted cream for breakfast 4) fantastic free wine and cheese in the late afternoon -

She was delighted when we arrived and was even more so once we had been served complimentary wine and cheese in the dining room.

Great service and staff, very clean and quiet, delicious breakfast and predinner wines with cheeses and fruit.

Rolls, bagels, a vast array of the good stuff, i.e., cheeses, smoked fish, avocados, juices, marmalade, etc., etc.--of course Oh, do you want a latte?

Fresh baked muffins and scones, Fresh Berries and healthy cereal,  Eggs and  smoked salmon, a full cheese selection and fresh squeezed juices. Outstanding.

All of this was complimentary as well as an evening happy hour with wine, cheese and a nice charcuterie.

Each day there was an excellent selection of wines (changed daily) and an array of cheeses, charcuterie, fruit and a hot hors d’oeuvre.

The hotels runs happy hour with wine, cheese and salami, food is served in real China with linen napkins, rooms are spacious, bathroom has underfloor heating, water and fruits in room are complimentary.

The room was luxurious with a comfy king bed, large bathroom and turn down service with yummy chocolate shortbread cookies!

Our room was gorgeous and luxurious, with amazing views of the city.

but one of the best in America, offering European-level elegance and sophistication and a warm, professional staff.

This hotel is absolutely the definition of quiet luxury.

The closet includes two high-end umbrellas as well as clothing brushes and a long-handled shoe horn.

The location perched on top of Pacific Heights contributes greatly to the magic of the place.

The Pacific Heights location, overlooking the city, with its wide sidewalks, quiet streets and beautiful homes, is perfect for walking and close to good restaurants and shops.

Its right in the heart of Pacific Heights so away from the hustle bustle and super close to tons of restaurants and shops.

Plus the pillows were amazing, and the location in the heart of Pacific Heights was perfect!

I've stayed at Hotel Drisco Pacific Heights on two occasions now (over the past 6 months), and I have been very pleased both times.

I was delighted to discovery this amazing, quaint hotel in Pacific Heights when visiting my son.

The Hotel Drisco is a lovely boutique hotel in the nice Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco.

And the location is beautiful among the mansions of Pacific Heights.

We are well traveled and stay at top resorts around the world and this boutique hotel in Pacific Heights blew me away.

The Hotel Drisco Pacific Heights in San Francisco, a Woodside Hotel Group property, is housed in a gorgeous estate building constructed in 1903.

Its located in peaceful, Pacific Heights among some of the most gorgeous homes in the city.

The location is just perfect among the Pacific Heights neighborhood, near beautiful parks and a wonderful area to walk with all the old Victorian architecture.

It’s in a beautiful location and rooms are quiet, clean, and extremely comfortable.

The rooms are elegant and well cared for.

The food is delicious, The rooms have extremely comfortable beds as well as a choice of pillow type upon request ( a card left by the bed details the types of pillow that you can request).

Overall a great value for what’s included in the room rate.

Attention to details is their specialty, with amazing rooms and chef spreads for happy hour and morning too.

My husband and I stayed at the Drisco in late May in a City Suite (Room 106) overlooking beautiful San Francisco.

Everything about our stay was perfect - beautiful room and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Excellent quality in rooms, service and breakfast.

Our room was beautiful, with a really comfortable bed and pillows.

Rooms are well appointed and the breakfast was incredible.

This is our maybe our  10th visit and each and every room has been beautiful.

Bed had bloody stained sheets, air conditioner didn't work and charged $15 for snack pack which contains $3 worth of water and candy.

Not a fan of valet parking (or the unfriendly attendants) - we were on a road trip so felt trapped without our car as we like to explore the surrounding suburbs.

Our room was in the "historic building" - historic is code for:
- Your air conditioner and heater won't work
- Your shampoo bottle will be empty.

The whole room is old and very tired, the heating or a/c is very noisy.

Things to improve: mainly the air heating, very noisy and uneven, parts of the room were tropics, parts North Pole (well, not really).

I tried to adjust the AC and it didn’t work, I couldn’t turn it off, or adjust the temperature and it was quite noisy at night.

Initially given a room that seemed a little worn out with aircon that was struggling.

The only very very minor downfall is that the room’s air conditioning system was a bit on the old side and required some time to figure out and the bath was not big, and no disconnecting shower head, I guess I’m more of a Shower guy than a Bath, some would disagree with me.

When we entered the room it was a bad smelling from the ventilation system.

The aircon didnt work in the room either which made it uncomfortable and humid.

however given the amount of feedback about non working ac they were just going thru the motions.

Also check your room is not next to the adjacent building roof top AC systems otherwise the noise will be even worse.

The "AC" or climate control is not real, i don't think, b/c it didn't work.

Unfortunately,  the AC did not work, housekeeping stole our pc and the overall condition of the hotel was dodgy and musty.

No fridge, no mini bar, shower has shower curtain (no shower doors), thermostat is from 90s and only has “heater, cooler, fan high, fan low” (literally - that’s all).

The system didin't have a switch to go from heat to AC so there wasn't any way to control the temperature adequately.

Air conditioning/heating was a little temperamental and required some subtle persuasion to get going.

Brilliant location on Union Square for tour bus.

This hotel is located close to public transportation, restaurants, shopping malls and also where one could join tour buses at Union Square.

A wonderful location beside union square, the cable cars and the bus routes.

City bus hop on hop off tour 3 minutes away.

Hotel in a very good location for cable car and bus tours.

Most bus routes stopped nearby and cable car at end of the street.

Also had room service & the pasta with grilled prawns was delicious 
This hotel is also located just down from the main pick up for all tour bus.

I can say the hotel is in a really good location, close to both Union Square (shops and the starting point of the sightseeing buses) and one of the tram lines ( the one that takes you to Lombard Street).

The hotel is well located at Union Square, with the hop on hop off buses all leaving from there.

We took a tour bus that was just outside hotel as well.

Also, the tour bus companies have a stop right across the street from the hotel so that was convenient as well.

Lots of transport options including the hop on, hop off buses, the cable car and the BART - all within 5 Mins.

The hotel was well situated for walking around San Francisco and just down the road was the pick up point for the Hop on hop off bus.

The hotel is perfectly situated in Union Square, close to hop on hop off buses, the iconic cable cars and most tourist attractions in San Francisco.

Close to tour buses and the famous San Fran Trams.

The hotel is very close to all shopping and bus tours for the tourist.

Food ok.  ..Great location if using the open top tour bus.

Perfectly located for Union Square, trams, Hop on Hop off buses and taxi rank - basically easy to get everywhere.

Close to cable cars, union square (obviously) and the various tour busses.

The location was extremely  convenient  for catching the Big Bus tour, the trolley  car, and even restaurants  and small markets where we could buy items to stock the refrigerator  with light breakfast items.

This hotel is well located and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Pros- This hotel is lovely in the foyer area, and the staff are friendly.

Check in was quick and the hotel staff are friendly .

Friendly welcome and good information given at the desk.

but sunny but the hotel was central, staff very friendly and obliging, the room was spacious and quiet.

All staff very friendly and happy to help.

The staff was accommodating and friendly when our flight was cancelled and we needed to spend an extra night.

That said, we returned after 9 years since we last stayed and found the place incredibly friendly, with an old world charm and understated furnishings and incredibly comfortable setting that we remembered.
