The hotel was close enough to walk to Amazing restaurants, bars & shopping.

The bar is regular and good for all ages,

Your room is only ready at 3 pm on the day you arrive if your early you have to pay extra to use the buffet and bar.

People that works there are like angry ALL THE TIME, except for the night shift Manager and a lady working on a bar.

The natural pool was great and the bar had a nice selection of drinks to choose from.

The a la carte reservations are made for the same day now which is a great improvement and they have an espresso bar there for those of us that are there at 7 am to reserve our restaurant.

People at the lobby are not that friendly compared to for example people at the bars.

Deck lounge, beautiful views, plenty of lounge chairs and a nearby bar.

The swim up bar bar tender was always kind and helpful.

Mario from Texoro (good place for Emeralds) opened a Reggae bar and restaurant and it is quite good and reasonably price.

There is a coffee bar next to where you make reservations.

Then being given the room immediately above the bar, pool, restaurant and entertainments area was an added shock which we weren't accepting (at this point Vivienna was particularly helpful and lovely).

On the positive side, there is a bar at the beach with a menu of about tweny mixed drinks.

At night, there are places to sit and lay back and enjoy the sea breeze, entertainment on the boardwalk, a bar and just a very enjoyable experience.

The hotel have a lot of activities to do; in the night, you can go to the nightclubs, enjoy a delicious dinner, or just chill in the beach.

When I was in San Andres, I stayed at the Decameron Aquarium Hotel, I loved this hotel, the food was delicious, the staff were very attentive also this hotel has a beautiful view.

The table service restaurants required early reservations that were a hassle for us and we honestly liked the food at the buffet restaurants better.

The food int the buffet restaurants is ok, the same flavor everyday, breakfast, lunch or dinner.

We ate at the buffet which service was great they kept your table clear I do wish however they went more out of their way to bring you drinks so you didn't have to get them yourselves, I know it sounds lazy

The hotel has 4 a la carte restaurants and 2 buffet.

Food in the buffets are ok, the restaurants are much better,

The food was great buffet style for all meals and snacks available all day.

Buffet restaurants are very good, good food, self-served.

I would like to say that the food in the buffet was so good, quality so good, been best than the restaurants such they had at night where you must to access just by previously reservation.

The buffet restaurants and ok, breakfasts are pretty much the same every day

Good food with different restaurants some of them are buffet style.

Nice hotel in San Andres Island, buffet restaurant was OK for breakfast and lunch, snacks were nice (sausages are outstanding), dance shows were great.

The buffet restaurants of your own hotel are there for you,

We only tipped twice for breakfasts and the nights we were at restaurant.

but to use the restaurants you have to sign-in in advance or go to the buffet where the food is not of the best quality.

In the day, you can diving, rent a boat, enjoy the pool, etc

Visit the west point its such fun, Aqua nautis and the diving board and the slide.

(or you can buy it, there are some very good diving shops)

We had booked scuba diving boat trip from the locals and a tour of the island bus trip, which includes a visit to a botanical garden, a colonial home with dance performance by the locals, a stop by the beach with blow hole etc.

Diving office there is also very serviceable with tourists.

This is the best scuba diving and snorkeling in the region.

I would definitely recommend going here for your diving.

I will bring all my own dive equipment and i always belong to dan emergency evacuation , for diving incidents.

As for the diving, well this was another big disappointment.

I also went diving with Mario and he's a great tour operator - 2 thumbs up.

He's a great guide. The West View offers Scuba Diving, a jumping board, Scafander exploration, a long slide into the ocean (wooo!)

Back to the activities: Scuba diving - 2 of us went once and wish we had gone again.

You can hear every noise from the other room (AC for example which is very very loud) and from the corridor.

Our bedroom was close to the pool which was very noisy with pool parties and shows almost all day long and until 11pm.

but it was facing the pier which can get noisy.

A loud speaker blasted much of the day and night drowning out the sounds of wind and sea.

Never ever accept to stay in tower 16, it is in front of a discoteck and one of the hotel's restaurants is in the first floor, too noisy!

We took a couple of pool chairs away from the pool to get away from the noise and were told "these chairs are for the pool".

What I didn't like: altough there is a big sign "swim at your own risk" they do no permit you to enter the beautiful private beach before 9 am and after 6 pm - and I need to say the private beach looks like a swimming pool and is shallow. What I hated: reggaeton playing loudly in the bar all day - and

but they never did and the noise continued every day.

Pool were a little bit too noisy so we didn't went back.

After hearing comments from other people who'd been to this hotel, I wasn't really expecting to find all the comfort and standard you might expect at these kinds of resorts in other places like Mexico or Punta Cana,

Meals are all inclusive at the 4 restaurants

The negatives--The door is extremely thin and we were awakened several times by a neighbor knocking on a door trying to get back in after they lost their keys.

but to our disappointment we received a room in a noisy part of the hotel, right on top of the bar and the view we had was a construction site of another hotel.

Walls are paper thin,  you could hear people talking outside your room or toilet flushing next to your room.

I couldn't hear anything for all the noise so went up and asked and we finally got called before I could get the chance to speak to someone, This is the biggest waste of time and the most ridiculous system.

Unfortunately the reception (both check in and check out) is a total disaster (caotic, disorganized and unfriendly) and the room have an horrible smell of milldew. Be aware as well that the night entertainment can be pretty loud and last until midnight (and you can hear everything from your room with closed windows)

Our room was in the tower and if you want any peace and quite do not stay here, very very noisy.

We found out on the plane back that other travelers who stayed at other hotels got sick as well as many others did at our hotel.

The girl on the desk to reserve restaurant almost sleep at the office.

How is this all inclusive since nothing is available, snacks just for a few hours and limited, restaurants if you have luck and can make a reservation.

First they booked as to another hotel that is closed (Delfines) then they sent as here.

Most ocean activities were cancelled so the option was to sit in the hotel room as there were no other activities.

buffet food was not good and getting a reservation to the good restaurants was only possible for 1 hour every morning and you could only make 1 reservation per day.

If you want to reserve some place for the dinner you have to wake up 6:00 am, otherwise the queue is too long that probably you can find place only in the Thai restaurant.

Ah, last thing, if you want to have dinner at the "Special Menu Restaurants" make sure you wake up at 6:30 am to make a line for a reservation, otherwise if you arrive by 7:30, you will never get a place to dinner.

The rooms are very basic and you have to reserve an iron, they lend them out for 20 minutes at a time.

Those who booked through the company website did not have to go through the check-in process we and most people have to.

however need to think of a new system for booking reservations which as you've read in prior posts it's a pain to get in line at 7am to request a specific restaurant for that day or night and then be denied the request because there are only a 630 & 830 seating.

Now there is no doubt that the reservation system is a pain at 730am

but due to poor weather the sea was closed and we received a refund.

You can only make reservations for the same day.

We ended up staying at Aquarium because Isleno was fully booked.

Then you have this backwards system of booking for a la carte restaurants which has to be done at certain times only ON THE DAY meaning you must stand in queues for ages before having a hope of booking a table.

But you have to wake up at 6:30 am to do the line in order to get a reservation and by the time you get to be the first on the line they tell you . ."

I can only imagine what it is like when the hotel is fully booked.

however if there are things to improve, the reservation is really difficult to these you have to wake up a 7:00 and wait 45 minutes, i haven't tried the el patio steak restaurant for this reason because i was diving in the morning.

The food was overcooked and under seasoned , and it was almost impossible to reserve space in the "specialty" dining rooms.

The room is clean, AC works all day, can feel a little cold sometimes

The linen is sparkling white and the rooms and are very clean and yes now they even have flat screened TVs

Although our room was clean, the accommodations and decor at Aquarium is dated and underwhelming.

First, my room was very clean, when i arrived i was having a astonishing view of the caribbean sea (tower 14).

Positive:
AC, clean rooms, great view, the Italian and the Thai restaurants, cold drinks, walking distance from the center.

The resort itself is clean as well as the rooms, although the rooms are out dated,

but had a nice beach), pool (while small it worked when you couldn't get a chair at the docks), small rooms but clean and who is really spending much time in them?

The rooms themselves were very clean, small bathroom with small shower, safe ($), flat screen TV and mini fridge stocked with bottled water.

We had a lovely ocean view, the room was clean and the noise level wasn’t an issue.

The rooms are clean, the window adorned with california style shutters which let the air in nice at night.

The hotel is just beautiful, very clean rooms, the layout, ocean view, friend staff and excellent service.

Very good hotel, food & drinks, clean rooms, people, fun enterteinment at nights, sea sports.

We found the cleanliness of the rooms and generally of the whole resort and sister resorts to be excellent.

I can fly on a packed plane, bounce to any bar or restaurant on the island except the ones I have prepaid (all-inclusive) to visit at Decameron.

The service was lame, in order to be a All inclusive and for the price we paid.

It is a plus for Decameron San Andrés packages…
	
Be aware of the all inclusive cocktail experience.

As this is an all-inclusive, we had most of our meals there and the food was quite enjoyable, with a special Gala meal for Dec. 31st.

The hotel has an all buffet inclusive, every day we ate fruits, differents cheeses, meat, salads and sea food.

Definitely one of the best all inclusive resorts we've stayed at.

My wife and I visited San Andres Island in November of 2005, and this was my first trip to an all-inclusive resort.

You just need to have your Decameron all inclusive bracelet with you.

Food was actually not bad for an all inclusive.

Back in January 2012 we had our first experience in an all-inclusive resort!

My wife and I got married in San Andres Island and stayed at Decameron Marazul all inclusive.

My girlfriend and I have travelled to all inclusive resorts in Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, all 4-5 stars resorts and now San Andres!

One should definitely take advantage of visiting the other Decamerons for meals, and the Rocky Cay Beach club, which is included in an all-inclusive package.

the rooms are big and very clean and the food is above average for an all inclusive hotel.

We loved the bar out on the pier and the all-inclusive deal.

but neutral ( in an all inclusive, they have to please everyone so they cannot make it too exotic and/or spicy. ).

Being that they are in a Island, water is a prime commodity and the toilets are outdated and overall the bathroom a little dingy.

There was a sign not to drink sink water because it's not potable.

Also, the water pressure in the shower was really low.

Mold and stains all around the rooms, and the smell is horrible ( specially in the bathroom).

The rooms are average and the bathrooms below average, in fact the first bathroom had a leak and smelt so we had to move.

Also, the bathroom smelled horrible and looked like it wasn't cleaned in days.

Shower is Luke Warm  Water with little Pressure.

Our toilet did not flush regularly in our room.

The amenities seemed straight out of 1990.

My bathroom had a shower stall and no bathtub.

but rooms were outdated..Bathroom is very very small.

In addition to this the toilet was not having problems too.

In response to the reviewer who complained about the possibility of being seen through the front door when exiting the bathroom, there is a curtain over the frosted glass.

The only problem was that with all the rain, some of the ground floor rooms were getting flooded (not ours thankfully).

Another tip from the jehneral, go to the middle of the island, by the washrooms and to the right is a path you can go down.

We did find a bit of an infestation of nosiums in the bathroom, which wasn't exactly lovely!

We saw some ants in the bathroom, not a big deal.

Some people will have them as water, they are very sweet and have real alcohol, a tricky combination empowered by the sun, bringing the funniest as the embarrassing to the public eye…
	
Special appreciation for Marazul Manager, was specially courteous and diligent, she seemed to be in all paces, and arranged for a welcomed late checkout.

Very clean, the manager Angelina made sure that our stay was memorable.

The new Manager Angelina has made the hotel a happy place; with Happy Faces post throughout the complex.

Good place to relax and enjoy the Colombian Caribbean, excellent guest services attention , good option of restaurants and inter hotel excursions, clean and comfortable rooms.Congratulations Ms Angelina for your managements.

I highly recommend this hotel and the new manager in charge is extremely professional, always smilling and made our stay incredible.

Check-in was fast and very well organized and we were told that the management had made us a reservation at one of the “A la carte” restaurant for the next day … nice.

She even called our hotel's manager to check on us and on the wedding quite a few times!!

This would be a beautiful place to stay if they had some people in management who knew what they were doing a lot more Canadians would go there.

I stayed in July, the hotel is ok, is big enough, one buffet (not many option for the food), one bar (only 6 drinks, only offer Águila beer).

We came here for a group holiday and loved every moment, lots of food choice and the pier bar was amazing, the staff looked after us all week.

For dinner you had a choice to eat at “Carrabelle restaurant” and “las brasas” (informal steak house).

In our opinion, by far the Marazul is the most beautiful of them and the food variety is the best, hence why we chose to stay there during the evenings

The room that we had was very clean , spacious and comfortable overlooking the pool area.

The room was clean,  the mattress felt like we were sleeping on stone.

Room was very clean and the maid does an excellent job.

The rooms are clean (although dated), nothing fancy, the mattress is firm.

This hotel was marvellous, the rooms are clean, air conditioned, have tvs, phones and balconies, most of which overlook the ocean (but you at least get a view of palm trees, the well-maintained gardens and the nice pool, where you can swim even at night because they light it up).

The rooms were clean and roomy the food was awesome we always had lots to eat and cooked how we liked it.

We did get our rooms at 2:00 and we were very please with the size of the rooms and how clean they were.

The rooms are clean and functional with a good size balcony.

from downtown) it is a quiet(but not boring)piece of heaven.Our room was clean with a nice balcony that overlooked a bevy of palm trees.Mind you we spent little time there as we were usually snorkelling.One of the best features of the Marazul is the free boat shuttle by Mario to Acuario and Haynes Cay.These gorgeous,little coral outcroppings made the trip totally worth it by themselves.The snorkelling was magnificent(San Andres is home to the 3rd largest  live coral reef in the world) and was much better than anywhere in the Bahamas,Mexico or the Caribbean that I have been.

The air conditioning was cold, the cleaning staff were great, and the rooms were clean.

The food was good, the rooms were clean and well maintained and the people were wonderful.

but with old fashioned style, we had a problem with the toilet as it wasn’t flashing properly and the bathroom was very smelly.

If you are a smoker, it is a non-smoking resort.

cigarettes not included, we couldn't even smoke unless we were outside the restaurants which were all outdoors anyways, and no smoking rooms.

No musty smell in our room (as mentioned in one of the reviews) and the furniture and walls appeared to be recently painted.

The buildings around the pool area are older and some are musty.

Moisture is an issue since the island is so humid, there was some mold on the walls in the closet and previous water damage evident.

The roof leaks, I had no hot water all week, occasionally, the toilet wouln't work and my brother's room was constantly filled with the fumes from the propane gas used for cooking.

but the traffic & fumes of the cars passing can be painful & noisy, the beach is longer than Marazul (way longer)  but narrow.

The streets had broken sidewalks and smelt really bad.

They advised you not to swim in the ocean because of rotting mangroves and sewage run off.

Here are my comments:

Rooms: Yes, the rooms smelled musty, and the sheets and floors were damp.

The rooms do smell of mold ( the majority of them, we went into many rooms at the hotel).

The bathroom felt like it was ready for a proper refit, the shower screen was sticky and looks a bit dated.

In our room the sink was outside the bathroom!!

however have some problems with various rooms: the first smelled like gasoline, the AC in the second one broke, and the shower head didn't work in the third.

The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was because the shower wasn't great and bathroom needed some work.

The only thing that could be slightly improved was the bathroom, which was a bit dated.

I guess the only comment I would have to make would be the shower.

In the morning we showered in a gross stall shower.

but shower water heater which I didn't like much so we never used it.

ok here is an honest review:
the hotel is very outdated, the rooms are very poorly furnished, yellow mattresses, the shower is awful and I mean awful, the room reminded me of a military dorm.

Bicycles and snorkeling gear available + scuba diving instruction on site.

Really recommend this place and explore the island by bicycle which you can hire here.

We had the hotel iguana visit and bicycles were available.

They can help set up diving (as they have a dive shop right on-site), rent bikes or scooters to get you to and from town, or even tell you the best tourist attractions.

We hired bikes to get around and revelled in the peace and beauty of the area.

I met Lindsay the owner the morning of checkout, who graciously allowed us to check out late, and rent the hotel's bikes for a quick trip down the coast, which is a must-do.

The staff was really nice in many occasions, at breakfast service, calling us taxis, fixing bikes in time so we go around, explaining us the island and etc.

Here they rent mopeds, golf carts, bikes, and motorcycles to rent.

You can rent bikes and snorkel gear from the office for a fair price.

They have bicycles and scooters on site to rent or there is a bus that comes by every 15 minutes or so.
