However, I didn't stay long, I moved to a Pousada (B&B) closer to the beach after a few hours sitting by the 'pool' at Araca.

No staff onsite, so no snacks or drinks available while you sit beside the small (Araca) and smaller (Flamboyan) pool.

I can’t thank the owners and staff enough for their hospitality.

Giuliano and Nilzete - the couple in charge of the hotel, made us feel at home, were extremely helpful and directed us to all sites worthwhile visiting.

We had the entire grounds to ourselves, as of the 5 rooms available, 4 of then were occupied by the staff.

Our experience was outstanding because the owner - Giuliano, not only spoke Portuguese and Italian, he also spoke English.

Giuliano and his Family could not have been more accommodating, and were very helpful with dealing with untrustworthy taxi cab drivers in Salvador.

If you stay at Flamboyan you have to walk several blocks back to Araca for breakfast (although said manager will drive you if you prefer).

Don't forget to tell reception if you need to leave early.

But most important there is such a nice atmosphere, created by the Italian manager Tiziano and his staff.

The hotel (nice staff) offers an excellent airport transfer.

They also have an in house taxi who took us to the airport very early the next day for our next flight which was really helpful.

He and his staff executed perfectly on our stay.

but that was fine as they were helpful with recommendations for getting to the Pelourinho and with restaurants.

but it ended up being a taxi which wasn't ordered until we went to reception.

We were initially worried when our taxi driver seemed to turn down the backstreets

It's also easy to get to the Pelourinho area either by taxi (which can be expensive) or bus from the main road.

For visiting downtown Salvador it's maybe a bit too far away.

but no one was waiting for us on arrival and it was never mentioned at the pousada.

but adequate, showers didn't have hot water but they weren't cold.

Another problem on this hotel is elevator.

The team that works on property is overall very friendly - not sure how much English they speak,

All taxi drivers that I used was efficient, friendly and honest.

Rooms are big enough, Breakfast is fantastic, the hotel is located in front of the highway that takes you to the best beaches, rental car is necessary, as the location is not friendly for transportation, only cabs or you may have to rent a car.

We also asked for an extra small towel one evening and it was never delivered.

No hairdryer; when we asked to get one, they answered that they already borrowed it .

The service team was also a bit overtaxed - fortunately, the hotel was full (many travelers who have business activities in Lauro de Freitas, Salvador and Camaçari) and once we asked for a tray to be removed from our room (we actually left in the hallway) at 10 pm and it was still there at 6 am.

We never had such a awful and bad service and unpleasant people.

Anyway, you will be at a Mercury alike kinda services with the usual Bahia way of slower the speed from the check in till out.

There is this tall young lady that works there in the mornings who was particularly hospitable.

The atmosphere is friendly and the breakfast was good, with fresh fruits and pastries.

The room was perfectly clean, breakfast was gorgeous, 5 walking minutes from the beach, great infrastructure for kids and probably the nicest staff I ever met.

The owner is happy to help out with everything.

Charming owner with great attention to detail and Mel was great entertainment.

The owner is extremely helpfull, even offered to take us to a restaurant or supermarket (as we had no car).

The only issue we had is about payment where they did a reserve in our credit card before to pay the real price, and this reserve is still showing in our credit card as a bill to be paid.

The staff at the two villas, Jo, Sydney, Vinicius, and Patricia, were unfailingly friendly and helpful.

Both villas have their own medium size private pool which is very nice, especially during the Brazilian summer (January and February) when temperatures of 39 degrees Centigrade may occur.
