An uncomfortable compromise at best

Holiday Inn express hotels near the airports are usually there to facilitate weary travelers to get a quick access to the nearby airport.

Extremely helpful staff, nice breakfast and close to the airport.

I stayed here as I wanted a place close to the airport and due to the fact their sister hotel in Zurich was quite good.

I booked mostly for the convenience of being near to the airport and it did the job perfectly for me.

After staying 5-6 times at hotels in Geneva city center, we wanted to try less expensive hotel close to the airport and we made a great choice.

Great place to stay if you wish to be close to the Airport.

Simple clean quite hotel

Check first airport shuttle time as it may not be early enough to get you to the airport if you have a extremely early flight.

Then the airport shuttle was about to leave and the lady had already arranged the breakfast including cereals, milk and fruits.

In summary a good budget hotel, good staff and close to the airport with a free shuttle bus and the public bus goes by the front of the hotel to the airport for the times the shuttle does not run.

Airport shuttle was prompt, quick trip to hotel, easy check in, pleasant atmosphere, and smiling faces.

Free breakfast next morning and free shuttle back to the airport or a 24 hour free public transportation ticket to get to town.

They offer free shuttles to and from the airport.

It's perfectly located, with easy access to freeways and public transit, and a free 5-minute shuttle to the airport departs every 20 minutes.

The shuttle from the airport was a simple way to get there and back, with the free metro/bus passes at the counter making the balance of our travel simple.

He gave us one day pass for public transport as well.

(+) The location was the main benefit as the hotel is in 5 mins proximity to the airport and the public transport is at a 3 min walk

(+) Internal design and infrastructure of the hotel is chic and modern with good color design and mix of elements to comfort the eyes

NEGATIVES
(-) The room was regrettably too small and as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) we felt that we had made a wrong choice.

You get a free public transport card when checking in, so you can also reach the airport with bus easily (they don't have the shuttle early in the morning,

You also receive a free ticket on public transportation for the period of your stay which literally gives you access to every part of the city on a system of trams and buses with the precise time of a Swiss watch.

Associate also offered me a card for free public transport within Geneva which very good to me as a solo traveller (travel with budget money).

but the public transportation is so great in Geneva, it would be just as easy to stay in a hotel downtown with more personality and better neighborhood ambiance.

Shuttle bus from  Airport  terminal-   we  were  given  passes  for  public  transport-
Bladonnet  tram  stop is  right beside the  hotel- trams  are  frequent and  it  took  about  15  mins  to  get  into  centre  of  Geneva.

Public transportation stop right in front, and buses run to catch that early flight.

To our surprise they gave us a  tourist transport passes to use the public transport free for the time we were there.

Closeness to the airport, to a small shopping center and to public transportation makes this hotel a very handy choice.

Once at the hotel, we were provided with public transport cards for free which covered our transport for the 2 days we stayed.

Checked in early as the rooms were ready and were very impressed with how clean and tidy rooms were.

Its a biz hotel - so small rooms, warm shower, basic internet, simple breakfast and you are out of there.

Very average, ok if you want to stay for short period, very basic breakfast, travel passes given which really helped me, rooms were small

Just way too expensive for such a small room,

There were pubic hairs on the toilet floor when we arrived and there’s mildew in the corners of the shower stall (photos attached).

The only negative I have is the coffee is rotten!

The bathroom was notably dirty with significant mildew staining along the tub lining and above the shower.

There was at the time a smell of glue (following the redecoration which had just been completed) which was frankly unpleasant.

The room was stuffy, the air smelt of cigarettes and vacuum cleaner scent tablets (supposedly this used to a smoking floor - the smell reminded me of a railway wagon that once had a smoking compartment. ).

Given that the whole hotel did not have the odor,

It doesn't look much from the outside and it did smell strongly of alcohol as we entered,

You don't get used to the smell of vomit.

The elevator had a very foul odor of urine and it was not a pleasant experience taking the elevator to the rooms

I had no complaints regarding my stay 3 years ago and my only complaint this year is that there was a slight hint of urine smell in the area of the bathroom toilet in my room.

No in-room safe, and the room reeked of a cheap deodorizer that was fighting hard against the smell of cigarette smoke.

The only issue being that there aren't any smoking rooms, there's nothing else to complain about with this hotel.

Kipling is in a wonderful location - very easy to walk all over Geneva.

The neighborhood is a tad on the moderate side -  as one often finds close to the main train station,  But it's an easy walk to all major sites.

Its so close to the train station and also very easy to walk around all the tourist places you would want to head to.

It was an easy walk to the hotel from the train station.

but an easy walk to Gare Cornavin where we could catch a bus/tram/train anywhere including the airport (10 min train).

Its easy to walk to the lakeside and across to the older parts of town.

Stayed here for one night and the location was great easy walk to all major sights.

Located about 3 blocks from the train station and an easy walk to the lake, this hotel is a very good value.

There are all sorts of food options and since aside from the fondue, the Swiss are not known for food, why not try something authentic (and relatively inexpensive) in the neighborhood?

Its in an interesting neighbourhood, certainly not what I was expecting from Geneva.

But the neighborhood just down the street is quite seedy.

although the area overall is a tad bit seedy.

Although the location is central and very close to the railway station and city center, is in an area which seems to be a little bit dangerous, and less populated by tourists.

but only 10 minutes from the lake and we never felt unsafe unlike in some other European cities.

The hotel faces what looks like 2 abandoned buildings in a so-so neighborhood.

And the neighborhood is very rundown and in a seedy part of town,

Not sure about the neighborhood walking down Rue Navigation towards the lake and in the surrounding streets

The only drawback that there is a park/school a block to the south of the hotel which was a tad sketchy, so it should be avoided if alone or at night.

The place is in the red light district (some yelling at night, some scary faces walking pass)  as you shower the water tents to switch between freezin cold to hot as hell.

It's located in a lively neighbourhood, so it was quite loud up to midnight.

Only real complaints are the shady neighborhood as mentioned by others - a lot of men loitering around the park nearby was a little unsettling at night.

but the area is bit shady, if you are looking for bachelor fun then the back allies are full of your interest.

Close to the railway station, which makes access to the airport easy.

It is located really close to the railway station and right next to the Mole tram stop.

Geneva is an expensive city in which to stay, I opted for this hotel because it was good value and within walking distance of the train station as I needed to meet people at the airport first thing.

The hotel is centrally located, near the train station and walking distance from Geneva's lake and Mont Blanc bridge.

For those without car free bus tickets are offered.

I simply picked up a free bus ticket from a ticket machine near the luggage carousels, hopped on bus no.

With free bus ticket for Bus 10, it was an easy breeze for only 15 minutes to the city.

We arrived at the hotel and, without fuss, got our room key and 2 free bus tickets to get anywhere -the airport in the morning and Geneva in the evening.

The hotel has free wi-fi and gives free  tickets for the city transportation for  the days you stay at the hotel.

This hotel also gives you tickets for free public transportation in Geneva for the length of your stay !

I picked up three free bus tickets from a ticket machine at the baggage area at the airport and then proceeded to their public transport area and took bus 10 to Ibis Budget .

In the hotel they give you a day ticket to travel around Geneva, which is fantastic.

The front desk person also gave us a free bus ticket to ride the buses for free.

They are also giving free travel ticket during your stay to go around Geneva.

As I have visited Geneva before, my tip is to take free 80 minute ticket travel ticket from the machine near the Customs exits.

Well, be prepared either for a 25 minute walk or a bus ride (number 10, from outside the Airport train station on arrival level, buy a ticket from the machine before boarding)

A big plus is that you get a free local transport ticket and the buses/trams that you can use them on stop right outside to take you downtown, lake Geneva, the railway station or 10 minutes to Cern and they run often, we  were ripped off by the taxi that took us from the airport - took us the 'long way' around - so be careful.

If you come here from the airport you can get a free transport ticket in baggage reclaim and then get the no 10 bus.

but my main reservation was that the toilet smelled of urine and I had to keep the door open or the smell would build up.

The door to the shower is right in the room – not in a separate bathroom.

Also to note that the shower is basically in the corner of the room and there is a big hole in the door for the handle so can be seen through by others in the room.

The room dispite being a twin and supposedly with disabled access was a joke, couldnt even walk around the bed, the bathroom was tiny and the loo even smaller.

The bathroom and the bed is separated by a curtain.

There is only the shower which could be fixed better with mor hooking points for it so you dont get your hair wet everytime you take a shower.

Space saving sink, shower and toilet add to the theme of being very basic.

My only complaint was that there was no plug next to a mirror, so drying my hair was impossible!

There was no "bathroom," strictly speaking.

The toilet and shower appear to be slide-in plastic units.

Coming to rooms, like any Ibis budget hotel, the rooms are small and bathroom is in cabin format.

It is certainly basic, the rooms are small (mine had a bunk crosswise above the bed as well), there is a simple shower and the toilet is basically a cupboard.
