The breakfast wasn’t bad as I remembered, the room quite comfortable and nice view look out the windows.

The breakfast was amazing and the setting is really special.

The food was excellent and the breakfast was great.

Breakfast was probably the highlight for us, being a large buffet plus cooked-to-order dishes which were all excellent (and complimentary with our Diamond status).

Breakfast was superb with incredible choices and an a la Carte option as well.

The next morning we took breakfast which we both agreed was the best ever!

44CHF/each person breakfast was not included with our free hotel award night rate so we just partook of our free breakfast before our flight home in the Swiss First Lounge at the airport.

Breakfast at the restaurant was very tasty and abundant.

Breakfast could be had (which we didn't) for an exorbitant 40 Swiss Francs per person,

A margherita pizza and vegetarian risotto - neither were particularly good, both were quite expensive.

The room was nothing special, the dinner more than disappointing and the breakfast was a total rip off.

Obviously Geneva is expensive and this hotel is no exception.

Very poor kitchen and extremely overpriced for what it is.

Basically, it looked as if the hotel was running with the minimum, most basic capacity and with reduced quality standards (but with the same, unchanged rates).

given that this trip was not on an expense account.).

I thought it was possible I did in fact only pay one room and not realize it.

It was just average overall and a bit expensive for what was offered.

My advice to fellow travellers do as I did , go to Le Richmond , more expensive

Given the price, the name and the reputation, I had high hopes for the Intercontinental.

There are better hotels in Geneva for the same price

If I have to be humiliated, I prefer to at least have it at a cheaper rate, thank you very much.

though for its 7CHF(£5.40) price for a four-finger Kit-Kat in the minibar - outrageous mark-up in an already expensive city.

We were upgraded to a large corner room with a disproportionately small bathroom (including a very dated bath with shower attachment).

although small are fine, bathroom a little too small though.

but the bathrooms were very small comparatively.

My bathroom was somewhat small and a little dated while hotel location is in an unimpressive area; this aside, the overall experience was very good and the hotel serves its purpose to the full for a business traveller.

My only complaint was that I had difficulty working the shire controls (a problem that I have had in other European hotels) and I had nowhere to put my small toiletry case in the bathroom.

However, on my trip I noticed:

- The lobby is beautifully designed and appointed, and worthy of a high-end hotel

- Check in was friendly, fast and efficient

- The rooms were a little small, the bathrooms were tiny, and the decor was quite dated.

My room was small and dated with the bathroom walls in faux marble plastic and a tiny sink area, added to that, my TV did not work and the controls for temperature of the room was set and no matter what I tried, they would not adjust.

The room was very warm when entering and it took a while before it cooled down.

but the bad was that there was no air-conditioning in my room so the windows had to remain open.

It was very hot when we were there, and as the hotel doesn't have air conditioning (which I don't mind), they are happy to lend an electric fan.

I’ve stayed in the 4 Star resorts in Geneva before and they don’t have much on this place (except A/C).

It doesn't have AC which we sure could have used for the few sweltering days we were there,

This property does not have air conditioning, and leaving windows open at night tends to bring in excessive noise.

No air conditioning and rather noisy street outside (cheerful people, not cars) so ask for a quiet room if you need to sleep with open window.

As our stay was during the heatwave, the evenings were extremely uncomfortable, even with a fan, and our window opened onto the balcony of the room adjacent ours.

There is no AC and no breeze comes in the room.

We came here and they stated the air conditioning is not powerful enough to keep up saying “this is europe”.

I understand that In Europe, air conditioning has traditionally not been used much.

Turned right down to lowest temperature with fan on full all night (noisy) and windows open - did not seem to make the slightest bit of difference.

In-suite amenities included air conditioning, strong wi-fi, a mini-fridge, and a coffee maker with various coffee and tea supplies.

One of the light sensors in the room kept making an irritating clicking sound every 60 seconds or so, again which disrupted sleep.

However, when we stayed the room was warm throughout as the airconditioning was only kicking out warm air (we were advised by reception that this was the case throughout the hotel due to the time of the year - late October -

but it's impossible to be in the room because air-condition wasn't cooling enough.so we took a fan.

My only slight criticism is that the shower design leaks water into the floor, and I had to ask for extra bath mats to absorb this.

There is no air-conditioning in the hotel, so get ready to sweat, and that point alone makes your entire experience just feel terrible.

Only downside was the crazy mood light machine which I ended up switching off!

However the thermostat wasn't working (too hot) so we spent the night alternating opening/closing the window to get fresh air.

The hotel was well sound insulated, very little light and noise entered the room and the air conditioning was sufficient.

No heating in April in a 4star hotel in Geneva..they bring you extra blankets looking like army gear and a portable heater that keeps on maling noise all night long.

The weather is hot and there is no Air cooling in rooms therefore rooms are boiling.

but non-functioning air conditioning isn't acceptable.

Although there seems to be a temperature control dial on the wall leading to an air conditioning unit, changing the temperature did not do anything and the room was an uncomfortable temperature for us to sleep.

The staff were friendly and the breakfast had good variety.

The location is great - right by Paquis with its plentiful restaurants and close to Lac Leman.

but now you have dirty carpet, mouldy bathroom, uncomfortable bed and pillow, weird shower, poor lighting.

Also, the hotel and elevator smells weird and room feels like a prison cell.

the terrace in the room, apparently, was never cleaned, the ashes on the cigarette heaped on the sofa, the sock left by the previous guest in the bathroom - this is such a luxury and cleaning.

Shower in a bath with high sides and faulty , slow water drain so standing in bath water.

However, there was an awful sewage smell on the 6th floor which was very unpleasant when walking to an from the lift area.

Cons:

One of the rooms and the hallway smelled like cigarettes.

We were given a smoking room, which we couldn’t cope with despite trying.

In addition I was given a smoking room in a smoking floor

The cleaning was not good as the carpet floor was very dusty and smelly.

It's impossible to open the windows without being nauseated by the powerful smell.

but did not smell like one and did not bother us.

And last time  our room smelled of cigarets the entire stay.

The people are very nice, the only thing is they give you a room with a lot of tabac smell without asking.

When we checked out we were told that a fan was available - too late for us, we had already had a rotten nights sleep.

However, when we checked in and went to our room we found that we had a smoking room.

On the minus is the noise and that I got a smoker room ( I'm non smoker).

Although we had to change rooms upon check in because of a smoky odor in the room, our next room was airy, clean and just what we had in mind.

There is a bar and sitting area in the lobby where breakfast is served.

The absence of the normal breakfast buffet was a pity,

The receptionist was late for work so I rang the customer service line to report the lifts out of service and was told that I should just tell the person on site who “must be somewhere in the building speaking to another client”.

The lady on the phone apologized and acknowledged, that they had the data and the data was correct.

Lobby is manned by only one staff who attends to guests, telephone calls and computer work

The room is just basic, no bathroom amenities, shower is slippery and nothing to hang onto, no phone in the room for wake up call.

I told them surely there is someone that can be reached for emergencies and to please get someone on the phone.

I asked for a wake-up service and I received a call right at 7am as I asked for.

Also the sockets where some small sockets (except only one), suitable only for phone chargers and not for laptop chargers or hair dryer.

Generally ok in terms if cleanless, room was very small.

Living in Switzerland, I am aware that hotel rooms are usually on the small side for the price

The rooms are very small and you will find it a challenge to even find space for luggage.

As long as you expect a very small room with limited amenities, you should be happy with this choice; I was.

It is no secret that European hotel room are small and sometimes very old.

Even compared to other  ibis style hotels I found the rooms rather small.

air con with 30 C and the reception stuff was totally unfriendly and totally sleepy the same young guy was at the reception on 4th actually he should be fired.

but the hotel is hot and stuffy, have to keep the windows open, so street noise interrupts sleep all night.

There are other hotels in the same lane with a/c.

Worst of all no AC in August when it was 30 degrees, they give you a small fan from the 1900s and outside is very noisy until at least 3am, good luck sleeping.

Check was friendly and quick.rooms are very hot no air conditioning and we found out that they turn the hot water down in summer so for 2 days it was cold outside so we wanted a hot shower no it is luke warm .

This hotel has no air conditioning, the lift is only big enough for one person,it’s really noisy & the room was small & quite clostrophobic!!

but it is very noisy and very hot in the summer (no A/C)

there's always a party going on outside in the alley and back parking lot and it doesn't matter if you're down low or up high -the noise seems to last half the night.

Ok ok, I knew that it didn't have air conditioning when booking and it wasn't too bad with the floor standing fan at night

However, there were problems -  no aircon and room fan was unable to cope so the room was day and night too warm to be comfortable;  bathroom radiator could not be turned off; bathroom ventilation fan did not work despite being reported to reception; bath wall handle to loose to be usable; kettle in room

But it is noisy at night and the room are hot no AC and we were there in April Temp in mid 20's.
