but on this occasion they did (almost unheard of in Ronda) and there was no way of heating the room.

Our only complaint was that the room never cooled down which made it hard to sleep at night.

Room 103 faces the outside walkway, and the HVAC did not even work!

In our duplex the narrow staircase has a 90 deg turn with a landing near the top and a 180 fan configured turn about halfway up with four or five narrow triangular steps.

Bedside lights had 'coldwhite' LED lamps instead of 'warmwhite' and we coulddn't get the aircon to work even with the use of the bedside fan switch.

Reason: door opener was not properly fixed (could harm your hand) hotel room was noise; sounds from other rooms, (night fights and repairing), airconditioning didn’t work proper way.

Our only slight problem was not mastering the air-con so we had quite a warm night,

As we turned on the A/C, a terrible smell filled the room: smoke, soon to be replaced by kitchen smells.

However most upsetting was the fact that we could not sleep at night as air conditioning did not work and room was very hot and humid.

but the water was downright freezing in early June.

My only complaint was that the heating/air conditioning didn't work at all: the information folder said that instructions were on the wall,

The annoying: the air-conditioning is apparently one of those central control systems where it either heats or cools

but sadly it was far too hot the heating we couldn’t appear to turn off was on all night long so we slept with the French doors open all night .

The parador could save a lot in heating costs.

In addition the extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work and the shower was so loose that it almost came away from its holding on the wall.

.. 4am after tossing and turning I heard water dripping and then pouring from the ceiling in the bedroom by the air con unit !!!!!

Ventilation in our part of the hotel insufficient with constant foodsmell from the kitchen in the aisle.

although the unit in the bedroom would not turn off!

While I understand the energy conservation goal - we struggled to sleep in a very expensive room we couldn’t get below 23.5 Celsius without the noise and light of open windows.

Instead, we had to drive the car to a lot quite a distance (long walk) away and pay separately for parking.

We didn't eat in the restaurant - I'd eaten there before during a day trip a few years ago, and it was expensive for what it was.

but a bit expensive (18e for 2 coffees and 2 cakes).

Food and beverage little bit more expensive,

Given that we paid 2.5 times more for the Parador (about 200 euros), I expected more in the above areas.

She paid the bill for our group and left a 10% tip.

But it costs, little choice of alternative parking.

pay the little bit extra to be upgraded to a Superior Room.

but we had paid £160 for a room with a view and wanted to enjoy it with a bottle of red that didn't cost 28euros.

While tourists dander past you get to drink in the visit while eating and drinking and you get to people watch too - I’d say it’s the top tip of Ronda ( apart from knowing that you can pay 2 euro into the house of John Bosco known as Juan Bosco on the opposite side of the ravine where there are no tourists and get amazing views back over to their other side and towards the bridge!

Not only was the hotel car park expensive ( Euro 18 for a night ), it was nerve wrecking getting in!

Rooms with views are limited, expect to pay a high premium to have a view.

.their breakfast are just normal not so excellent, if I should compare with it´s price, when we were there, they only had one waiter to attend many guest and believe me he´s not that friendly !, so.

Please also note that the prices charged may not be the same price as in the menu.

The room was clean, and the furniture was functional, if a little dated.

Place and rooms and cleanliness no complaining.

Nice building throughout, the rooms are clean and large.

My husband and I recently stayed the lovely Parador Hotel in the town centre of Ronda, we liked everything about this property, the food was really good, service good, the room was clean and looked like it had recently been decorated.

Therefore a magnificent view from the terrace and from the balcony of our spacious and clean room with bath.

The room was very clean and spacious with astonishing balconies overlooking the mountains.

The room was clean, the shower water pressure was strong,  the beds were comfortable and the staff were very helpful and amiable.

wonderful clean room, room service were friendly and efficient.

The rooms immaculately clean ,and the reception and bar staff all friendly and helpful.

Oh and just one more advice: an electric aroma dispenser does not fully mask the awful smell of a failing sewage system.

but there was an off putting smell of sewers and disinfectant.

This was noisy, ran continuously from 7am until after 10pm and regularly wafted us with smells of cooking food.

To make things worse, a very poor pool space, uncomfortable terrace and no place to smoke, even with a big open space available.

The first room we were given, we had to change due to a strong unpleasant smell that would not go away.

BUT some of the rooms are directly above a noisy crowded park full of vendors and smokers right below your window.

We had tried Paradores back in 2005 in the North of Spain and had been disappointed by that hotel chain already, partly for the "historical" amenities and for the smell of the rooms (but at the time, people could still smoke in some of them).

My only complaint with the room was that the tile around the tub was developing a serious mildew problem.

The pool was disgusting the bottom was full of dirt and also floating on the top !

Like the drains didn't with, and the shower control for the shower head only had cold water so you had to use the hand held attachment to the tub filler in order to get hot water.

First room we were shown to had been used by a smoker and was very smelly.

The room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke ether from a previous guest or an adjacent room, the receptionist showed very little interest in our complaint other to say "sorry for the inconvenience".

But, starting from arrival to stay: the garage smelled like a toilet (probably because someone used it as one), the lobby was dated and old, service that feels like it's dispensed by a "waiting to clock out" employee, dated and tattered rooms with signs of water damage everywhere, discovered ants upon arrival nipping away at a piece of chocolate under the desk chair (cleaning service?). They were very pleasant when I asked to change rooms because of ants,

BUT it's an old place, needs some refurbishment and air conditioning runs only in summer, what means, if you get a hot day during your stay will burn.

Only fault On this room is the bad sewer smell.

What we got was stale puff pastry with cold tomato soup & chopped egg on top.

If money has no smell that hotel get One And The people at The desk don't need your money to speak as they are speaking to us.

Very friendly and helpful staff, great location and a very nice, large and clean room with a view outside.

The room was clean and comfortable, the hotel was a beautiful and charming place and the staff, particularly Isabel, was extremely helpful, enthusiastically assisting us in impeccable English with parking, restaurant reservations, a walking tour and a guitar concert.

The room we had were tidy and clean, and the bed was good.

You enter to the smell of beeswax, the sight of gleaming wood and a feeling if entering someone's home.

Next, the junior suite they had for us smelled horrible, like a combination of "old room" and smoke.

WiFi was poor and even non-existent at times.

Even the poor weather didn't diminish the great experience.

Most speak impeccable English, which is a result as my Spanish is poor.

The only disappointment was the poor quality of golf demonstrated by the owner who had boasted about his prowess

although the ‘rack’ rate is pretty high for the area and we felt that the standard room we had originally chosen was poor value.

And not only the view is poor, also the quality of the food.

£190 euro's per night B&B - lame breakfast, so called chef can't cook a fried egg and the dinner was just as poor - dinner at a local converted train station 'El Muelle' was far superior - no TV in the "junior suite".

Our poor Spanish is encouraged with great patience and often an impromptu lesson.

Just returned from our 5th visit over a total of 26 years and this hotel is an absolute must if you want a peaceful location, perfect staff, very clean rooms and beautiful gardens.

Our room was spotless, with a big comfortable bed.

The rooms themselves were clean and fresh and well appointed.

Reception could not have been friendlier - the check-in process was a breeze and our room was spotless, warm and comfortable.

Wow what an amazing place to stay, the rooms were immaculately serviced, the staff were so friendly and even more than that they were all happy, which always says a lot about  how a hotel is run, my husband and I slept like logs, in this modern age so good to get a peaceful nights sleep.

It is a small boutique hotel (18 rooms all different - no TV) lovingly run by Pauline and Andy who over the years have turned it into an oasis of peace and calm.

We spent a week in this delightful hotel- a real treat to be away from TV, radio and traffic noise and pollution.

Do not come here if you want to watch TV,  play bingo or dance the night away to disco music.

There was no refrigerator, TV or clock  (none of our hotel rooms had a clock . .

And there are no televisions in the guest rooms, which was a bit of a shock for a news-junkie like me,

The rooms are a delight, every one individual yet the style is always Andaluz; and one thing that is an advantage for me is the lack of TV in rooms. Hooray!

No TV, which means that a post-prandial stroll through the small village is a delightful alternative.

we came back with friends for a second time in October and it was just as good, having been drawn to the area by the TV program by Michael Portillo and his Bradshaw's guide which focused on the railway that ran from Ronda down the coast we originally stumbled on this hotel by chance, in need of sustenance we decided to try it, and how glad we did!

Maybe not the highest number of stars (no TV in the rooms (thank goodness) and internet access was intermittent),

Thus I created, when I learned the Hotel has just two stars, according to some furnishing limitations like no TV ;-)) the phrase mentioned above: " paradise does not need stars".

It does not have features of 5 star hotels- TVs, pool bars

The room was sold as a superior double that is was not we have travelled extensively and would not expect to pay 168 euro for a small room without a TV 
We would not recommend them to anyone and would do our best to dissuade our friends from going to this over priced and over rated. Hotel.

There is a lovely little pool and as there are no TV's in the rooms your sleep will not be disturbed by noisy neighbours.

The shower leaked through the door, there was mold and rot on the baseboards, poorly applied silicone caulk around the shower door, discolored wallpaper, the sink barely drained, smudges on the walls, the towel rack was falling off the wall, the sink faucet looked like it came from a dumpster dive.

but they were not noisy,

Two small negatives: It is pretty difficult to figure out how to turn on the shower.

My only complaint would be a slightly damp smell from the bathroom after use,

Did not realize that our shower was inside our room with no room separation; basically the shower was right next to our bed.

but well equipped rooms though toilet facilities a bit too close if you are sharing a room.

The toilet was in a frosted glass cubicle, as was the shower in another, and they were both part of the "living" area.

The sink outside the bath cubical allows water to spill all over the bench.

As soon as we entered the room, we did not like the strange layout and immediately asked reception to be transferred to the higher level quarters which apparently offer a more conventional bathroom.

It had leaked and flooded the room underneath so we had to move rooms.

Only downside was the room itself which awkwardly has no separate bathroom (!

But I am in a different room and I need a shaver for myself!

The only negative was the bathroom layout - there really isn't a way to get dressed anywhere

Shame the shower smelt really disgusting after use- they must have an issue with their plumbing.

We booked a double room with request a for a bath

Only thing to mention is the toilet and shower open directly into the bedroom, so not much privacy if you were two friends rather than a couple.

although there  was someone else's long hair on the floor in the bathroom.

Internet speed in the room could have been quicker and bathroom layout could do with a better design as sink would have been better in the bathroom rather than in the general room.

However I wish the toilet had a proper door instead of the glass door.

but we could hear every time someone in a nearby room flushed the toilet which was kind of annoying.

Also, it was slightly difficult to get out there (we're in our 70's) because the door was behind a curtain which didn't open completely and you had to step over the sill and down two stairs to get outside.

but you need to open two cupboard doors to get to the safe cupboard.

It is an odd, uncomfortable and unacceptable arrangement for both of us , made even more unpleasant as the almost transparent doors that did not go from floor to ceiling offered very little privacy.

However, we had a situation  with our room that wasn’t resolved properly (got there one night to find the room door completely opened.

The only small reservation was that the toilet is essentially in your room (a frosted glass door in view of the rest of the room is not privacy) - this seems to be a trend among hotels modernising and I'm not sure it is a positive one.

but when we went there & opened the door it hadn't been made up – back to Reception & we were then allocated room 221 - maybe a "whoops!"

The only negatives were the toilet and showering arrangements (see-through doors straight onto the room) not everyone wants to be in full view! !

but satisfactory lunch and cocktails, and very odd bathroom door situation (see other reviews).

The two areas was a part of the room with only a (frosted) glass door between.

but would waive the car parking fee, to top it off my rental car acquired a dent in the door whilst in the hotel car park.

To get it out of the way--as others have noted, the layout the room is a bit off with the toilet and shower not being really separated (small doors for each) from the main room.

The sink was in the bedroom, the shower was of good quality and separated from the room only by its glass door and the toilet separated from the room by a swinging glass door.

Not keen on the bathroom design, just a glass door separating the toilet from the room, so not very sound proof, so bare this in mind if for some reason you're not on intimate terms with your room mate!

And as others have experienced the glass toilet door is a little awkward as it is in lounge area .

The room was large and comfortable - I note that other reviewers felt somewhat uncomfortable with how the shower and toilet are just separated from the main bedroom by clear and opaque glass doors,

but a little strange if you like privacy.

Also wasn’t quite impressed by the lack of privacy in the bathroom area in the room - the sink is in the sitting area.

but this appears to be the trend in the days of total transparency, it seems even privacy has to be relegated!

The toilet was in the middle of the space with partial glass affording no privacy.

although enclosed in "privacy" glass are "open" to the bedroom.

Only glitch is the layout of bathroom which is a terrible design and allows no privacy.

It meant a real lack of privacy at times when no-one wants an audience and sent my husband seeking an alternative!

For me it's not the lack of privacy it really is impractical l moving the towel rail and putting up hooks might help

The lay out of the bathroom didn't really give you any privacy and I wonder if any of the hotel management had stayed in the rooms to pick up on this problem.

The sink was in the seating area, the toilet & shower rooms were walk in from the sitting room - glass doors with clear and smoked glass - so very little privacy.

but with terrible lack of privacy as there is no door to bathroom.

The wash basin was in the lounge area, next to the tea/coffee, so there was no privacy whatsoever.

Rooms are weird with the bathroom open to the rest of the room so there's basically no privacy.

This arrangement allows for little privacy while using the toilet.
