Most European hotels have small, slow lifts,

Several things to consider: the elevator is rather slow and small,

but again we never once heard anyone getting on or off the elevator our entire stay!!

Also the lift was incredibly slow every time we used it, so much so that I walked up and down several times and we were on the sixth floor.

The spa-facility was in the basement-floor and to my understanding there wasn't a elevator that went down, so again keep that in mind if you are handicapped.

The only original piece of the hotel was a very wooden elevator in the A section of the hotel.

If you do decide to take the Metro to the nearest station, note that Republica Station is still closed due to an escalator collapse last year.

One small downside - elevator takes time during rush hours, so better use the stairs if possible.

.but in the spirit of this site, I've risen to the challenge and decided I had to wait too long for the elevator.

If I have to name a few shortcomings: rooms are smaller than American standard, walls are thin, hallway noise can easily be perceived sometimes, our room had no view, water pipes behind walls generate some noise during the night, elevator sometimes can get slow.

We had a room upgrade and I was a little concerned when I discovered that it was next to the lift

They have an old school elevator on the back side of the hotel that you must use it really gives you a feel for how old the hotel is.

That room was on the 5 th floor(beware the lift only goes to 4) so you do have to walk one flight of stairs .

Great location, fabulous staff and spacious, immaculate rooms.

The location is perfect, walking distance to most of the places you will want to see and lots of stores and restaurants on its doorstep (including Ambrosia, their rooftop restaurant which is fab).

The location was very good as we could get to all our tours easily by walking.

The hotel is located in a very central place that is easy to get around and the staff will hail you a cab whenever you need to get to your destinations.

It is conveniently located within walking distance to the Coliseum, the Forum, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain.

Location was brilliant and in walking distance to main attractions.

We just spent another 5 days at this well located 4 star hotel.

The hotel is a 10 mins walk from the main Termini and 5 mins walk to Repubblica metro.

Central location and easy walk to many attractions.

The location of the hotel is excellent - you are within walking distance of most attractions such as the spanish steps and trevi fountain.

Friendly, helpful staff and modern rooms plus a central location were our favorite points of the hotel.

The hotel is centrally located with a 10 min walk to the Trevi Fountain and perhaps a 20 min walk to the Colosseum.

The location of the hotel is great, too - close to the ancient sites I wanted to see and about a 10-minute walk from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain.

The rooms are immaculate and modern with exceptional free wifi and fully stocked minibar and coffee making facilities

The location is perfectly located near other bars and restaurants and literally a short walk from Trevi fountain and The colosseum

In fact we were kind of told not to shower at "off peak" times as the system might be resetting and that's why there is poor pressure, whatever that means.

but after reading all the other reviews abt people celebrating at the hotel it was bit poor that they had to be reminded.

He should be fired, what a poor welcome to Rome & such a lovely hotel!

Not sure how this hotel has such high rating with such poor customer service from management.

We didn't want to have housekeeping deal with it so my husband and I cleaned the entire bathroom with the chemicals, towels and bags that the poor housekeeping lady provided.

Since halal kebab places had poor food quality and hygiene best option was to stick with fish or vegetarian.

Pre arrival I had been in contact with hotel as was travelling with someone who had poor mobility.

We had dinner for my birthday in the Ambrosia Restaurant and the food, wine and service was excellent.

The food was actually better than the Michelin restaurant we dined at.

Service was outstanding throughout and the rooftop meal included in our stay was amazing!

What makes this hotel stand out beyond all others is the hotel front desk staff and the restaurant staff!

Gave us great restaurant suggestions and made the reservations for us, even last minute!

Every possible food on the buffet as well as passed crostini ( delicious) and fresh pastries.

Ambrosia restaurant and drinks on rooftop bar also fantastic.

but the descriptions were too convoluted & who wants pork belly for a lovely meal 😂
Desserts & cocktails to die for though 😘

This breakfast was enough for the day, leaving room for a gelato in the afternoon ( just 2 doors away) and we often finished off with a pizza at Pizza Target.

There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby for dining and retail therapy.

A wonderful hotel w roof top bar and restaurant.

The breakfast was excellent with a huge selection of food and delicious pastries.

but that was because it is so popular with the food being so nice.

They also arranged a car from the airport for us and made our dinner reservations upon request.

Taxis were inexpensive to and from dinner and always prompt.

It included a bottle of wine and strawberries in the room, an hour-long couple’s massage and an absolutely FANTASTIC multi-course dinner and drinks at their rooftop restaurant, Ambrosia.

Rooftop bar and restaurant is very nice, We didn’t eat there, But had drinks and it was excellent.

Outstanding service - easy check in and out process - fantastic breakfast and staff - awesome rooftop bar and staff - super comfortable room with excellent  a/c - and the front desk staff is the best of the best. Oh.

We were in a deluxe room and it had more than enough room, luggage and all.

The rooms are well appointed and spotless.

We had a larger room which was very nice.

The gentleman in the breakfast room extremely friendly and efficient.

We celebrated my wife’s birthday in Rome and the staff sent a bottle of Prosecco to our room,

Rooms are cool, well appointed and very quiet.

We booked the Comfort Double room and the room is newly furnished so it was a very clean and comfortable stay.

The room was very comfortable and spacious, with air conditioning, free minibar which is topped up every day and you do get a very good nights sleep.

Room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels everyday.

We received 2 vouchers for Prosecco to have on their roof top bar and we were then shown to our room on 6th floor (#623) which was one of their basic double rooms.

Plus, the room was perfect for the three of us - not always easy to find in Europe, a room to accommodate 3 people.

however that didn’t matter as we were hardly in the room and the bed (the hotel are testing various new mattresses) was so comfortable and massive.

We had a room (409) away from the main road which was fabulous as it was so so quiet!

Conclusion
I would not stay here again just because of the rude service.

but if you want any advice on where to eat or to buy something or where something is open, I do not want to be rude, but you're better off asking someone on the street or using Google.

Though I'm sure it isn't true of all the staff, our waiter was rude, arrogant, and not a little bit condescending.

Also the Host in the rooftop bar/restaurant was very rude and offhand to us on 2 occasions when we visited.

It is a short walk to the Trevi Fountain and about an hour if you walk to the Vatican.

It is also a 15 mins walk to the infamous Trevi fountain.

We love walking so this was perfect for us - the hotel was within about 15 minutes walk from the Trevi Fountain and the Coliseum.

The hotel's location can't be beat--just minutes from the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and a stone's throw from the Spanish Steps and Colosseum.

It is truly walking distance to just snout all of the tourist sites (Trevi Fountain, around  15 minutes; coloseum, around 10 minutes; the furthest is the Vatican, it took us about an hour).

Firstly the hotel is absolutely stunning, and the location is perfect - it is literally ~6 minutes walk away from the Trevi fountain down lovely little quaint streets.

From the hotel, you can easily walk to the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and Rome Termini train station.

Fantastic location in the Via Nazionale, one of Rome's premier shopping streets and within walking distance of the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, along with Repubblica metro station a couple of minutes walk away.

Location was perfect for what we wanted to see and do with 15 minute walks to the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and Trevi Fountain.

It was a 15-20-minute walk to the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain.

It is well located in central Rome, easy walk to Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain etc.

The only issue was that our window looked right into brick wall so not much of a view

There was long black hairs on two sides of the shower walls, hair in the drain and used soap in the soap dish.

but marked up on walls and peeling paint in bathroom ceilings.

You cannot hear anything through the walls or even any other room doors opening and closing.

Drop into the lobby bathrooms and notice the wall treatments and fixtures.

We had to squeeze in between the wall mounted tv and the bed to get to the very cramped bathroom.

The room was impeccable and we had the terrace suite.

The room was immaculate as was the hotel, very ideally located close to the metro and a short walk to the Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain, would gladly book again in the future.

I can’t say enough fantastic things about this gorgeous, quaint, clean, amazing boutique hotel perfectly located.

but the bed was so comfortable, the bathroom lovely, everything very clean.

Great location, Great staff,  organized and well super clean rooms, amazing breakfast included in the price.

The room was clean, well maintained and very quiet.

It was also super clean and our room was great.

There is a lounge for afternoon drinks and the whole hotel is spotless!

The hotel and rooms are kept spotless too!

Room was spacious, clean and nicely appointed.

although somewhat small, very good and clean.

They were clean, beds were very comfortable, and the employees were so kind.

We had two rooms (one suite, which I highly recommend) on the same floor which were clean, cozy and had everything we needed (robe, slippers, etc.).

Sure the Hotel Barocco is in a prime location and clean, quiet and comfortable

Needless to say that everything was spotless and breakfast is soooo yammi.

My hotel room was impeccably clean, with a comfortable bed and spacious shower stall.

but there was an additional short flight of stairs (5-6 steps) to reach my room from the hallway.

The hotel footprint is quite small and accordingly everything inside the hotel is small from the door to the hotel to the lobby and halls and elevator and most importantly the rooms.

The doors to the hallways are made of ridiculously thick wood to keep the noise out.

We were in Room 48; took the elevator to the 5th floor, then walked down 2 short flights of stairs and hallway to our room -- similar to a room we had at Banff Spring Resort years ago!

We stayed in a deluxe double overlooking the plaza and fountain.

We recently spent 3 nights at the Barocco Hotel in rooms 42 and 44 (across the hall from each other).

However, I felt that the interior decor was dated and the corridors to the room were narrow and a little bit creepy.

We had a chance to check out the room across the hallway from us, which we would have much preferred.

What not to expect in the Barroc it is a boutique hotel small reception narrow corridors,

There were little angles and a tiny corridor to the bathroom which added to the interest and ambiance of the room.

But, newly renovated, bar the fact that the entrance is on the side of the building & not the front (although it says hotel on a old door) & the fact that the corridors might have been narrow, the renovated rooms/hotel looks amazing.

Our room was next to the entry door to the hall so Id recommend not getting that room if you want to sleep in,

however once inside these are all features that give the hotel it's feeling of warmth and make it stand out from the 'norm' - marble floors and walls, large displays of fresh flowers at intervals throughout the corridors; small bespoke stairs and only five or six guest rooms per floor make the experience unique and without doubt when returning to Rome we will stay at this hotel again.

The sound does travel in the corridors which may be due, in part, to the marble floors.

As other reviewers have mentioned the corridor flooring means you can hear people walking up and down outside the room and it was a little annoying not to have aircon available as it was winter

The Hotel should consider carpeting the hallways to minimize sound.

The property is located near the Trevi Fountain and walking distance to most attractions in Rome.

Fabulous location (walking distance to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps; short taxi to the Vatican and Colosseum).

Wonderful location - easy to get on hop on/hop off bus (across the piazza), coffee shops and cafes all around the piazza, easy for taxi & scooters etc.

The location is terrific, in walking distance to many of Rome's famous sights.

It is in a great location and close to a lot of the important things people come to Rome to see.

The location is excellent and allows easy access to key sites around the city and to the Metro.

The location of the hotel cannot be beat.

This is an excellent hotel in a great location.

the hotel is about two blocks from the top of the Spanish Steps so the location is phenomenal!

We chose it because of its location as being central to a lot of attractions we wanted to revisit.

Great location as well, close to the Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, Four Seasons corner and other sites, as well as great stores.

The hotel is in a wonderful location - an easy walk to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon.

Great location - close to a number of the key Rome attractions, close to the best shopping and there are many wonderful restaurants & bars close by.

but the AC was poor, bed sheet quality was poor and itchy, and the shower did not drain so we were taking a shower in a pool of water and had to stop before it overflowed.

The cost was less then a poor glass at home without nibbles!

Lighting was poor and of course no makeup mirror.

Would not recommend eating in the conservatory restaurants located around the corner from the hotel-very poor food and service.

Bad: The room size was disappointing, the room design was very poor.

WIFI:  Unfortunately wifi was very poor and as a business traveler this was a bit challenging -

We had a standard room which was not large and had a poor view

We both jumped on it before the poor gentleman showing us the room amenities could gasp in surprise!

Room 13 is small with poor lighting and a limited view.

Although wi-fi is free, connection is very poor and you have to keep logging in.

but if you’re staying for a week it’s very handy as it has a little grocery shop, restaurants, cafes, metro, buses and taxis on your doorstep.

Fabio in particular was helpful in making us a couple of restaurant bookings and resolving our queries.

Also they recommended a restaurant for dinner which was around the corner from the hotel and the food was delicious.

Select from the a la carte menu for eggs, pancakes or cereals/yogurt.

The breakfast was fantastic and just the right amount of food!

They were also great with booking us taxi transfers to and from the airport and restaurant reservations. Housekeeping staff were very nice as well, some small requests we made (extra pillow, ice etc.)

There were literally dozens and dozens for fresh flower arrangements throughout the lobby, sitting rooms and restaurants.

So helpful and friendly, with everything from advance notice of taxi strikes to wonderful dinner recommendations and reservations.

The hotel is central to almost all tourist hotspots, restaurants and bars.

There are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby and the hotel staff help with suggestions a if you are stuck.

Very very helpful in assisting w/ restaurant, travel or any other recommendations. 2.

The great restaurants in Rome, tend to be in Trevastere,

Cocktail with friends in the elegant setting of the Barocco hotel.

Hotel Barocco is in a beautiful location,  walking distance from the main monuments and good restaurants.

Hotel is located in great area - walkable to tons of sights, restaurants, etc, etc (pharmacy right across the street to get covid test b4 heading back to USA - took 15 mins).

We enjoyed the lounge each night before dinner, meeting other guests, and breakfast each morning before touring the city.

Breakfast was superb & great array of foods to choose from. Thank you to breakfast staff, especially Steffan, Merricarr, Isbetta(?)

Breakfast was served at the dining room and all ingredients were fresh and tasty.

We had a lovely room with a bath and shower.

Rooms are fabulous, we stayed twice / once at the front end of our 14 day trip through Italy / then again at the end since we flew out of Rome both ways.

Our room was adequate, with large windows overlooking the quiet side street.

We stayed in two different rooms, both were of a high standard.

Book the terrace room with jacuzzi and sauna!

We booked a classic room which was fine for one night.

We stayed in a larger room this time that had a small outdoor patio which we loved.

but very comfortable, and we had a room overlooking the Triton Fountain.

Beautiful twin room with elegant touches.

The elevator is really small and could barely fit 2 people and 2 luggages.

It has only 1 small elevator and it takes sometimes a while till it gets to you.

There is one small elevator, appropriate for a hotel of this size and with little wait time.

Elevator was very small and air conditioning was not very cold (typical for Europe).

Although the elevator was tiny, it was modern and quick to respond when called.

This hotel is in a old building and has been renovated to high modern standards, yet it remains quaint with narrow passageways and a small elevator.

but everywhere in Rome has a small elevator and that really doesn't hold you back.

Our room #62 was a superior located just off the tiny elevator.

Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Rome-walkable to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and much more!

Spanish steps are 8-10 min walk; Trevi fountain is 5 min walk.

You are 5-6 minutes away from the Trevi Fountain and about 10 minutes to the Spanish Steps.

The hotel itself is situated near the trevi fountain and Spanish steps .

Terrific hotel with great location close to Spanish Steps & Trevi Fountain.

It’s a boutique hotel which is well situated between the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain.

The location is great, about a ten-minute walk to Trevi Fountain and great shopping.

We walked to everything:  the Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Via Condotti for shopping.

7 minute walk to Trevi Fountain, 5 minute walk from the Spanish Steps and about a 15 minute walk to the colosseum.

The location is perfect …   a 1 :60 walk to the metro and within easy walking distance to Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, shopping on Via Condotti and numerous restaurants.

Location was perfect - lots of shopping and restaurants all around and short walk to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.
