The room was impeccable and we had the terrace suite.

The room was immaculate as was the hotel, very ideally located close to the metro and a short walk to the Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain, would gladly book again in the future.

I can’t say enough fantastic things about this gorgeous, quaint, clean, amazing boutique hotel perfectly located.

but the bed was so comfortable, the bathroom lovely, everything very clean.

Needless to say that everything was spotless and breakfast is soooo yammi.

My hotel room was impeccably clean, with a comfortable bed and spacious shower stall.

but there was an additional short flight of stairs (5-6 steps) to reach my room from the hallway.

The hotel footprint is quite small and accordingly everything inside the hotel is small from the door to the hotel to the lobby and halls and elevator and most importantly the rooms.

The doors to the hallways are made of ridiculously thick wood to keep the noise out.

We were in Room 48; took the elevator to the 5th floor, then walked down 2 short flights of stairs and hallway to our room -- similar to a room we had at Banff Spring Resort years ago!

We stayed in a deluxe double overlooking the plaza and fountain.

We recently spent 3 nights at the Barocco Hotel in rooms 42 and 44 (across the hall from each other).

However, I felt that the interior decor was dated and the corridors to the room were narrow and a little bit creepy.

We had a chance to check out the room across the hallway from us, which we would have much preferred.

What not to expect in the Barroc it is a boutique hotel small reception narrow corridors,

There were little angles and a tiny corridor to the bathroom which added to the interest and ambiance of the room.

But, newly renovated, bar the fact that the entrance is on the side of the building & not the front (although it says hotel on a old door) & the fact that the corridors might have been narrow, the renovated rooms/hotel looks amazing.

Our room was next to the entry door to the hall so Id recommend not getting that room if you want to sleep in,

however once inside these are all features that give the hotel it's feeling of warmth and make it stand out from the 'norm' - marble floors and walls, large displays of fresh flowers at intervals throughout the corridors; small bespoke stairs and only five or six guest rooms per floor make the experience unique and without doubt when returning to Rome we will stay at this hotel again.

The sound does travel in the corridors which may be due, in part, to the marble floors.

As other reviewers have mentioned the corridor flooring means you can hear people walking up and down outside the room and it was a little annoying not to have aircon available as it was winter

The Hotel should consider carpeting the hallways to minimize sound.

Wonderful location - easy to get on hop on/hop off bus (across the piazza), coffee shops and cafes all around the piazza, easy for taxi & scooters etc.

The location is terrific, in walking distance to many of Rome's famous sights.

It is in a great location and close to a lot of the important things people come to Rome to see.

the hotel is about two blocks from the top of the Spanish Steps so the location is phenomenal!

We chose it because of its location as being central to a lot of attractions we wanted to revisit.

but the AC was poor, bed sheet quality was poor and itchy, and the shower did not drain so we were taking a shower in a pool of water and had to stop before it overflowed.

Lighting was poor and of course no makeup mirror.

Would not recommend eating in the conservatory restaurants located around the corner from the hotel-very poor food and service.

Bad: The room size was disappointing, the room design was very poor.

WIFI:  Unfortunately wifi was very poor and as a business traveler this was a bit challenging -

We both jumped on it before the poor gentleman showing us the room amenities could gasp in surprise!

Room 13 is small with poor lighting and a limited view.

This lovely hotel is conveniently situated within walking distance from all major attractions like Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hills and etc, We even manage to walk back from the Vatican City!

We did two organised trips one to Colosseum and Roman Forum and the other to the Vatican and Cistern Chapel the latter trip organised by hotel and we were picked up from there and returned both very good value and well worth it for information provided and advantage of beating the queues.

We had a lovely room with a bath and shower.

Rooms are fabulous, we stayed twice / once at the front end of our 14 day trip through Italy / then again at the end since we flew out of Rome both ways.

Our room was adequate, with large windows overlooking the quiet side street.

We stayed in two different rooms, both were of a high standard.

Book the terrace room with jacuzzi and sauna!

We booked a classic room which was fine for one night.

We stayed in a larger room this time that had a small outdoor patio which we loved.

but very comfortable, and we had a room overlooking the Triton Fountain.

The elevator is really small and could barely fit 2 people and 2 luggages.

It has only 1 small elevator and it takes sometimes a while till it gets to you.

There is one small elevator, appropriate for a hotel of this size and with little wait time.

Elevator was very small and air conditioning was not very cold (typical for Europe).

The elevator was also small and slow and I had to go up four flights of stairs,

Although the elevator was tiny, it was modern and quick to respond when called.

This hotel is in a old building and has been renovated to high modern standards, yet it remains quaint with narrow passageways and a small elevator.

but everywhere in Rome has a small elevator and that really doesn't hold you back.

Our room #62 was a superior located just off the tiny elevator.

The hotel is just a 5 min walk to the colosseum, you just turn to your right when leaving the reception and straight down the street.

The amenities at this hotel include a rooftop restaurant for breakfast and dinner with a view of the Colosseum.

The location is nice with lots of little stores and cafes around and within easy walking distance of the colosseum and other points of interest, the a/c works amazingly well, and the housekeeping staff are great.

The location is ideal, the area is safe and quiet and also just a 5 minute walk to the Colosseum.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, between Colosseum and Caracalla, Domus aurea etc).

The location was good, only 10mins walk to Colosseum and the metro.

The rooms were perfect, staff gracious and pleasant, rates exceptional and the rooftop restaurant with a view of the Colosseum at sunset was priceless.

but beware the view over The Colosseum looks great, but can be very windy, best to sit on the other side of the roof.

Breakfast is amazing, view on the Colosseum is brilliant from the 4th floor!

The breakfast was abundant and served on a beautiful terrace with a view of the Colosseum.

The location is literally next to Colosseum and the street next to it has a lot of nice restaurants and pubs.

It’s quite close to the Colosseum yeah it is also located on a quiet street.

We liked taking a walk at night around the Colosseum.

The location is ideal, you have public transport connections almost next door and it takes literally 4min walking from the front desk to the Colosseum.

Located literally a stones throw from the Colosseum and within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain.

We also had an iron and asked for it not be taken out of room by room service.

Requested an iron one morning, nobody came to bring us one.

When I asked for an iron, I was told it was against the rules in Rome.

Asking for an ironing board and iron was difficult.

but perhaps providing a laundry room with an iron or two would be a less greedy option.

To our surprise, they do not provide irons in their rooms and do not have any to lend in the hotel.

Oh bring your own travel iron as there are no facilities for this unless you want to pay, leave the mini bar well alone and drinks in hotel itself were very expensive!

Hotel does not have an iron in room or available and charges for pressing clothes.

The only downside for me, and this is probably expected from a hotel of this standard, is that the hotel charges for pressing rather than allowing the use of an iron in the room.

(Oddly, the hairdryer was in the desk, bolted down. This was a little difficult to use,

The pictures of the rooms are very misleading, you are not allowed irons in your room & a charge of £4 to iron per item is expensive do not rely on the emergency alarm cord in the bathroom as I pulled this thinking it was an extractor no one came after 20 min I had to find the shut down

but if we did have a few negative points then;

Kathryn said the hair dryer in the room was poor!

The room supplied toiletries a hair dryer and a mini bar under the TV (which was not a flat screen).

I'm not sure why all other hotels can provide an iron

As my clothes were very wrinkled and needed ironing,  I requested one at the front desk

 - bathrooms: weak shower pressure, no dryer, small space
 - we had to switch rooms twice (1st time too close to lobby (loud), 2nd time toilet broken) - eventually settled for the 3rd room

The downside: it’s a 10-15 minute walk to a metro if you want to go to further locations, and there are several stairs leading up to the entrance, with no staff available to help you bring your bags up.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly, good location.

I can’t say enough about how wonderful this place is, it’s perfect and in a really helpful location for food and ‘mooching around’.

The location is quiet for sleeping and the roof terrace is excellent  for a relaxing breakfast in the sun.

It’s a great location and everything is within walking distance, even the Vatican which is further away is still an hour walk away or a short bus trip away.

Myself and my Girlfriend stayed for four nights and its such a fantastic location and the staff are magnificent.

The location was perfect and the breakfast on the rooftop terrace was delicious.

Amazing location, very friendly and helpful concierge, spacious and quiet rooms, great breakfast (both for grownups and children).

Angelique, who checked us in had us laughing at our poor Italian and her good English.

It was pricey, the pasta was very poor and the fish I had was inedible due to numerous bones.

And the staff were very helpful and friendly,
However the shower was poor - really feeble.

Breakfast was a poor choice over the 3 day’s and the service was very slow.

I do not recognise at all the comments from some other contributors about poor service, poor food at breakfast, or dated rooms.

Except for the last day, the staff were not as charming (though attempting to be) and one member we heard several times recommending a restaurant nearby which he had recommended to us which was poor in every way  -  makes you wonder. .

but I have to say the service was poor and unwelcoming for this standard of hotel.

but at least we were not those poor souls standing in line, waiting hours for a table.

It didn't keep to the route, missed stops, the commentary was very poor, and the map indicating the bus stops was inaccurate and not to scale.

Room service on the first night produced a pretty poor meal- bland and dry.

We didn't eat at the hotel in the evening and I suspect that the poor lunch menu reflects the fact that the chefs don't work then.

though the price was far too high for the standard/services offered - I would have benched it at ~ €180 a night not €300+ and the breakfast was very poor.

Message - read average and poor contributions as well to get an accurate unbiased account.

My Summary:
Either the hotel standard in Rome is extremly poor and expensive or the reviews of this hotel is outdated.

We would not recommend the Archeobus – the commentary was poor and did not relate to the location of the bus.

Just a few minutes' walk from the famous Colosseum and the ancient Roman Forum, this hotel is a perfect destination for some of the best of what this incredible city has to offer.

This medium sized boutique hotel, 65 rooms I think I recall reading, is a mere 3 blocks from the Colosseo and Roman Forum, at the end of quiet via with a few pleasant, reasonably priced restaurants along its length.

Situated on a quiet back street of Rome, within a short walk from the Colisseum and Roman Forum, this gem of a hotel is perfect for a stay in the Eternal City.

Location for Capo d'Africa was excellent, it's located only 2 blocks away from the Colisseum so we could walk easily to the Colisseum, Roman forum and Trajan market (and therefore also easy distance to Flor gelateria in via Cavour, one of the best icecreams ever), also there are several good trattorias and pizzerias within these 2 block ratio which was very nice because we could have dinner close to the hotel after very busy days.

Stayed here for 3 nights, loved it, the staff are very friendly, and helpful.

Front desk staff were friendly, efficient, and very helpful.

From the minute we arrived, we were greeted by the very pleasant Massimo who made us instantly feel so welcome.

After arriving at the airport with a taxi strike, we got to the hotel on a wing and a prayer and were greeted by Massimo who promptly booked us a car the next morning back to the airport and a dinner reservation at a wonderful restaurant around the corner.

My wife and I traveled to Italy for our honeymoon, we stayed for a week and despite the airport loosing our lugagge this hotel made feel right at home, superb service from the front desk Angelica and Massimiliano to the staff at the terrace for the breakfast.

The staff are the real stars, all are glad to see you, want to help and very knowledgeable.

Also, from the moment we walked in the door everyone, especially Giovanni, was kind and pleasant which made for a wonderful stay for me and my mother.

We had a great stay with wonderful staff that were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
