however, on collection of the car the price we were charged was higher than quoted
- When we queried this with reception we were dealt with very abruptly and rudely although the confusion was due to a new staff member and not due to fault on our side
- Although the rooms are quirky we found them to be quite dark and musty 

Overall - if the issue with regards to parking had been avoided - I would recommend on the basis of value for money.

Ours was a little dark in that it was near the bottom of a small courtyard

The individual at check in was not super welcoming, the room was very dark and furnished with old uncomfortable furniture (think furniture found in your grandma's attic), and the bed was hard and the mattress flat.

It was pretty dark which worked out well for us as were only in the room to sleep.

There isn’t much in the way of windows in this room, so at first it seemed rather dark.

but it was also dark and not updated at all.

The room is pitch dark, even in the midday Tuscan sun.

Large bowl of strawberrys and cherries, fresh custard and chocolate pastries, paninies , quality fresh squeezed orange juice not the usual glow in the dark chemical rubbish, fresh greek style yogurt, honey is only a small section and it is being continually topped up the whole time by the extremley hard working girls.

but the room had a rather dark and tired look to it.

The whole atmosphere in the apartment was dark and dated and was not a particularly pleasant place to spend time.

The room oouse charm of chest like multiple window shutters so the room was very peaceful and dark and privacy was protected by the thick room walls and it wasnt nowhere like the generic hotel rooms you find yourself in..

The hotel lobby was dark and small, and not very inviting.

It's worn down, a very dark room, heavy brocade fabric on the windows and bed, somewhat strangely decorated with a combination of ornate florentine style and modern art--an arrangement of dusty silk flowers on the dresser.

Great place to feel the city's atmosphere with all the comfort.

The bathrooms were bright and well decorated.

That says a lot about the atmosphere at this hotel.

The rooms are comfortable and a pleasure to stay in, with interesting furnishings and artwork.

Between the lovely rooms and decor, comfortable beds, delicious included breakfast and the best, friendliest  and most helpful staff ever (especial thanks to Marguerite who helped us so many times with cabs and reservations), there is nothing else we could have asked for.

Our room was vintage, 17th century decor with air conditioning and ample hot water.

Beautifully appointed, restored palazzo hotel with tastefully modern amenities.

The executive room was HUGE, specially for european standards  it was very nicely decorated and made me feel like I was experiencing an authentic Florentine accommodation.

Great location, very comfortable place to stay, renovated hotel, with nice environments and interior design.

The hotel was comfortable and cozy  with a mix of antiques and contemporary art.

The decor standards were fair, and the cleaning staff very effective.

but it has a unique style that makes it a truly special experience.

The room was beautiful, with plenty of great decorative and architectural details.

The premises are meticulously well-kept with rooms, lobby, common areas, and breakfast room all comfortable and clean as a whistle.

The old world charm was nicer than imagined.

Classic and romantic decor, with little details that made it impossible not to have the sense of what Florence has to offer you in abundance (I adored the celling of our bedroom!).

This hotel is in an old building that has been updated inside enough to provide modern amenities while keeping its Florentine charm.

but all for the better - modernized but still retaining its old-world ambiance.

We also appreciated the recommendation to the L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele.

The breakfast menu range is extensive and delicious.

We were guided to an excellent restaurant and visited the public market on recommendations from her.

We were able to explore the great restaurants and leather shops within a few minutes.

The breakfast was delicious and there's a lovely courtyard so you can be outside to eat.

Close walking distance to Accademia (like 5 minutes), Uffizi (like 10 minutes), Ponte Vecchio bridge (BREATHTAKING VIEW and like 20-25 minutes), high-end shopping and eateries and gelato places galore!

Perfect location for all the main sights, markets and restaurants.

The PAM Local food store just across the street was handy for hydration drinks and snacks

Everyone was friendly and helpful, recommending restaurants, calling cabs and storing our luggage after checkout.

There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and bars close by and within walking distance.

Close to everything, I mean close to everything and with a great wine bar with tasty treats just down the street.

The hotel is connected to a wonderful restaurant IL Desco Bistrot that deserves a glowing review unto itself.

My room was very pleasant, the location was an easy walk to major attractions, good restaurants were nearby, and yet it felt removed from the worst of the tourist traffic.

The breakfast buffet is extensive with good food choices.

The front desk staff was always so helpful with nice restaurant recommendations, taxis, questions about rooms, etc.

The staff were very knowledgeable about good restaurants and sites in Firenze.

We just love it here, from the front desk folks to the breakfast and cafe folks you simply can’t ask for more.

Centrally located, beautiful room, friendly helpful staff.

Our quietly-situated room was very clean and of adequate size for three people with a large bathroom

Wonderful, better than the hotel we stayed at in Rome—this hotel was a solid and reliable choice ; right next to the Academia, somewhat near the train station, large tub and shower with high water pressure— which was nice— breakfast good, and the room was interesting.

I even saw our aunts room which was amazing.

The rooms are spacious and bath tobs great for soaking after a long day of touring,walking, exploring.

We loved coming back daily to a quiet room.

The crew was very caring and the room was very tidy and clean.

The room was great and honestly, I thought they had given me the wrong room because it was so big and I was a single traveler.

Lovely hotel, very clean, the room was spacious and very charming , the bathroom updated and  clean and great breakfast buffet.

Some rooms are small, and some are incredibly capacious.

The room was tiny and the a/c was not too strong, all the more aggravating when the electricity shuts off when you leave the room.

Our small room was facing the street, which is a busy street.

I was all the more disappointed, after a long transatlantic trip with several transits to get to Florence, to be assigned a tiny room that feels like a jail in the time of the Medici.

Although our room was small compared to what we are used to, the terrace more than made up for it as we spent a lot of time enjoying being outside for meals, drinks, and just relaxation.

The bathroom in our room was on the small side

The breaksfast room is quite small and could get crowded

Our room also had only 1 tiny window up near the ceiling about 10 feet up on the wall.

The bedding was white, laundered, had no stains and smelled fresh.

On the negative ones, a/c was a bit noisy and bathroom a bit smelly (but this is the same problem in most Florence hotels)

but it just added to the feeling of being in an old dusty room with outdated furniture and a moldy bathroom.

but were dismayed that it does not seem to be a non-smoking hotel.

The bathroom had a large shower (no tub) with only a little mold; housekeeping could easily scrub that away.

Bedroom was full of antique furniture and smell which truly made us feel the artistic-historical like feeling of firenze.

but smelled a bit musty - maybe not booked often enough?

Rags in the corridor smell a bit different.

Also, a previous guest had smoked in my room, despite the posted no smoking signs.

The only critiques I have could be the fact that the A/C had a temperature limit leaving for some warm nights and a more subjective critique with the fact that workers were digging up and working on sewage pipes in front of the hotel during our stay.

criticism was that it seemed my room had not been recently used, and the shower trap had dried out letting smells into the room.

Thankfully the odor cleared up after an hour or so.

The heat outcompeted the room air conditioner at times, and odors from the outside courtyard sometimes wafted into the upstairs hallways.

And things look old and smell like old furniture.

However this did little to mask the noise.

1st, it is an old building so it smells a little musty throughout, 2nd the walls are kind of thin so I was heard people in the halls and room next to me fairly easily, finally I was a little bummed they would not let me bring a plate from the buffet up to my husband who wasn't feeling well one of the mornings.

The hotel smells terrible and looks like a firetrap.

We'd been allowed to check in so I didn't quite understand the nasty attitude, despite my apologies to the cleaner.

The breakfast is very good, what I liked most is looking at the rooftops through the bedroom window and listening to the bells ringing, what a wonderful city.

A well-situated  hotel full of character being a former palazzo with friendly and helpful reception staff especially Margherita and Francesco.

though all the employees were friendly and helpful, we found Annalisa to be exceptional; she is an asset to the hotel !

has a great location and the staff, Jimmy and Analisa  helpful and friendly.

Front desk staff speaks good amount of English

Our first trip to Florence was truly amazing and we fell in love with the IL Guelfo Bianco with the friendly staff, great breakfasts, quiet area and strategic location to many of of historical sites.

The staff at the front desk are super helpful.

Best of all was Annalise at the front desk (an Isabella Rossellini look-alike) who was warm and welcoming and made our stay a wonderful experience.

Staff was wonderful and they even upgraded me to the jr. suite.

The staff was fabulous - very kind and helpful.

Charming boutique hotel with excellent front desk staff.

The staff are very friendly and speak English well.

But overall, this really is a lovely hotel with attentive, pleasant staff.

Walking distance to main attractions, friendly staff, and a good breakfast too.

This hotel is like taking a step back in time - charming decor, furnishings, our room was like being in a country villa.

It's furnished with authentic antiques, the ceiling in our room was wooden with small golden roses which really highlighted the fact that it was an historic villa.. We had a king bed, large armoire,  loveseat, desk and mini bar.

We couldn't get enough of the freshly baked pistachio croissants for breakfast each morning.

The room has a great view and breakfast was wonderful.

The piazza where it is located is festive and lively all day.

The staff are helpful, patient and kind - from the staff at the front desk that provided me with an ice bag and ice for my swollen knee to the friendly staff in the breakfast room that made cappuccinos decorated with smiley faces.

Hotel Pendinis’ charm did not disappoint!

Located within steps of the Duomo, this historic hotel has been well maintained with lots of character and charm.

Our room was very comfortable and the sitting room down the hall from the front desk has an old world charm.

Hotel Pendini is centrally located and allowed for shopping, dining and museum visits within a very short walking distance.

Hotel Pendini is located in the heart of Florence with walking distance to every attraction in the city.

The property was in an amazing location, I couldn’t have asked for a better spot.

This is a class hotel and location is perfect place to stay.

It has the intimacy of a well-run, beautifully appointed and perfectly located get away.

The location was great - almost equidistant between  Il Duomo and the Uffizi.

Location is in the middle of everything, easy to walk to all the museums and churches.

It rooms are spotless and the hotel is centrally located.

There could be nothing better than the location of this hotel.

It can get a bit loud at night time, and slightly slow Wi-Fi.

One of the restaurants on the square plays loud live rock music until 2am every night!!

If you're a sensitive sleeper, you may have issues with staying in a room facing the arch or plaza, as there is loud music nightly until 2am.

However we had to hear loud music every night ( until the early hours) from another building despite being in a corner room on the 3rd floor.

The only thing to note is if you are facing the square the restaurant below plays music past midnight in the summer so it was loud.

Only challenge was a couple of our nights there was a loud celebration/band in the square which was difficult to sleep through.

but there is very loud music blasting nightly.

The only complaint I have is that our room was facing the square and there was live music at one of the restaurants in the square that was pretty loud until around 12 midnight.

It was a bit noisy at night when music is playing in bars down below

but the room was great except for the very loud music from the square below that kept us awake until after midnight

The downside was that it could be very noisy particularly in the evenings when a bar restaurant blasted loud music and singing until 1 AM in the morning.

One small downside is that it was next to a large public square with outdoor musicians that play until midnight so can be loud at night.

The only downside was that the rooms don’t have enough noise insulation so when there are parties or loud people in the town square, it’s impossible to sleep.

Just be aware that they play music in the Piazza until after midnight.

but because of loud music from a nearby cafe, we moved to a smaller inside room that was completely quiet.

The only negative was that our room faced the plaza and there was loud music playing until about 1 am almost every night of our 5 nights there.

but it got loud at night, as nearby students, etc.

It seems to be more of a bed and breakfast rather than 

Rooms 403, 404, and 405 all face the busy square, which has loud activity until late in the morning.

The evening singer next door was a bit loud until midnight each evening (and the same songs nightly).

They were buzzing around and biting resulting in very poor quality sleep.

Loved the little staircase up to our rooms.

From the service to the quality of the room - we shared two rooms - it was faultless.

Apparently we received an upgrade from the room class we had booked, and it was lovely!

Our stay was excellent the rooms were of the best quality and placement for a nice veiw of the city 
The one thing that was a culteral difference was the lack of wash rags 
The food and refreshments were amazing

excellent location and excellent room and services, staff was grateful room was very clean and services very excellent.

The breakfast was fantastic and the breakfast room traditional and in keeping with the period of the hotel.

I’m not sure how bigger families are able travel through Europe because all the rooms are so small!

Small rooms, tiny bathroom and not that comfortable.

My only complaint, if I really had to nik pick was the stairs to go up to my room were a bit small and spirally.

The staff are very axcomodationg and friendly.
