Vouchers and discounts included in this package were somewhat confusing, and we had to go to the President of Operations to get some charges removed from our bill, since some staff members were uninformed and uncooperative.

Looking at the hotel pass and getting handed a card does nothing other than slow the line.

Trying to get in the pool we were met by a lady who seemed very overwhelmed checking key and dinner cards to access the pool.

My wife has balance issues and needs me to help her to avoid falling.

First, there were issues with communication, including inconsistent and misleading information, as well as confusion over charges.

In addition, getting charged for a baggage handling fee when all the porter did was carry bags from the taxi to the lobby was outrageous.

spoke with the concierge services prior to arrival and made several reservations for dinner and a private carriage ride

but if you're going to charge $35 for an old fashioned, or $54 for a six pack of beer -- you better be delivering a top notch experience, not a pre-made mixed drink that was dive bar worthy.

It was a joke because one time they said their credit card machine wasn't working.

I understand they have to charge a little more because it all has to be shipped over

We were charged full price at The Woods restaurant when in fact our package should have included the dinner.

He said he’d refund the surcharge we’d paid (over $1700)

When they finally found it under my name and address she explained that she was not authorized to cancel "Same day reservations" and that they already billed my card.

At checkout we were charged for a coffee and several other things in the coffee shop that we never entered.

Because they demand payment at the time of making the reservation (which is odd) my husband put over $2000 on his AMEX card back in May.

After complaining they gave us a $280 credit and some meals which were terrible to average, so the total cost was still $1200 per night!

but bring your gold card and plan on a minimum of 2500 for 3 days.

though we asked about changing our reservation for dinner more than 24 hours prior, found it difficult to have the charge ($99 x 2) removed for a meal not intended to be taken.

Whether you book 1 day or 90 days in advance this business will charge the full amount to your credit card immediately and will charge $50 even if you cancel 30 days in advance.

They charge $7 a person cash only for a one way trip .

Each room has its own special character; ours was slightly larger and elegantly decorated with a lovely view of the lake.

The Grand Hotel is a great throwback to comfortable living with complementary elegant decor.

They did dance tastefully for the girls which was such a hoot!

We specified we wanted a table indoors, as the atmosphere is so much nicer than the plastic-tented dining area outside.

Service was unmatched, food was amazing (main dining room was great with managing food allergies), staff was kind and helpful, rooms were fun, decor was gorgeous and vintage, the location couldn’t be better.

That said, I thoroughly enjoyed being at the hotel itself and soaking in the ambiance of the place.

Staying at the Grand Hotel to me was like stepping back in time to a more elegant era.

We picked October to enjoy the fall colors and relax and get away for a night.

The rooms are all decorated differently and are very unique.

Our room was elegant and comfortable and we had everything we needed.

The service is impeccable, the rooms are gorgeously decorated, the food is phenomenal and the experience is one you will never forget.

The gorgeous views of the lake and 5-mile-long bridge from the 660-foot World's Longest porch, to the meticulously clean interior and flowers everywhere - awe-inspiring!

Their attention to detail is unmatched - and that goes for everything from the interior design, to guest communications, to the delightful experiences and activities that they offer.

Service was amazing and the atmosphere was wonderful.

The stately exterior and the interior public areas are outstanding.

The grounds are magnificent, the hotel is exquisitely maintained, and it's a pleasure just strolling through the entrance and lounges, browsing at the shops, and relaxing on the front porch.

We skipped breakfast to sleep in, enjoyed 2 of the charts, delicious, high-quality dinners on the hotel grounds.

Despite our suite needing some attention, we were impressed by how beautiful the hotel and grounds were.

The grounds are spectacular, the staff flawless.

The porch is a great place to relax and admire the view of the lake and the grounds are well maintained.

While the views of the Straits of Mackinac are spectacular, the grounds and flower gardens are gorgeous, sitting in the rocking chairs on the world’s largest porch was memorable, the room decorated in bold florals was unique and charming, and the modern bathroom was filled with the Grand’s signature geranium-scented toiletries, I have some concerns about my stay.

The grounds were clean and staff was very friendly, except at check-in, the "manager on duty" at check in cared very little that we are repeat guests who brought friends along this time who also had a subpar room.

Everything, and I mean everything is well cared for and maintained from the rooms, to the halls, to the porch, to grounds.

We had a fabulous time touring through the gardens and the grounds and just the experience of the entire island left us wanting to return.

We also enjoyed the grounds, secret garden and the pool was gorgeous.

Last week was the first time I had the pleasure to stay at The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

My handbags are expensive, I NEVER place them on the floor.

It isn't a surprise to pay more than "normal",

While a significant savings over the usual rate, we still paid  $500 per night for a basic room with no view.

but prices seemed beyond anything we have encountered in far more remote places.

but your meals are no longer included (3) there were nearly $100 in "tourist fees and taxes" added to my bill, so a $350 room (interior in September, was nearly $450 in reality.

Before taking the MAP it is worth looking at the cost as you may find it is overpriced for what you need.

For the price we had expected at least for our bathroom to not have mold in it

When you pay over $700 per night for a room you just expect more.

At the expensive per-person-price for dinner in the Main Dining Room my wife thought there would be only a few tables taken on a Tuesday or weekday - yet the room filled up in 20 minutes!

The food was not the highlight especially for the price paid.

Menu was very uninspiring, old selections 
Breakfast was Days Inn quality at $50 each 
With the prices charged for modified American plan not worth it at all , glad I saw the Hotel

but unfortunately the service was poor, the food was mediocre so the grandeur of the building di not justify the price.

I feel like it was overpriced for no amenities.

One word of caution, the room views can be a bit "iffy" when booking the loser cost rooms (and they aren't cheap) so be mindful of the room you select or are given when checking in.

Amenities (shampoo, body wash, lotion)  were subpar with a premium price paid.

Prices are ridiculously expensive, for us.

Ever since they have taken over all the amenities have been cut and the prices have gone through the roof. Poor.

It was not large or suite like by any stretch, which for the price ($700 per night) was disappointing.

Very overpriced for the food and service.

Dressing for dinner makes it feel like a special occasion, and breakfasts in the grand dining room were accompanied by interesting menus and attentive service.

Nothing at all stood out, and even the presentation was lacklustre compared to the dinners we enjoyed last year.

Dinner is a 5 course meal and menu had several items to choose from for each course.

The Grand Hotel does its best to provide good food and entertainment.

People are friendly, service is great, and food is fantastic.

The food was really delicious and we loved it

Our meal in the dining room was delicious and we loved getting all dressed up.

I spent 4 days there this past weekend and found the people gracious, the service helpful, and the food as outstanding as ever.

All the other courses were excellent, as was the entire dinner on our first night.

The dining room, food, and service are first class.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the meals were absolutely delicious.

The staff its very friendly we came here 5 times .

The gardens were at their peak, and staff for the most part were friendly and hospitable.

Rooms at Grand Hotel are lovely and well taken care of by staff.

There isn't much more to add for tips and guidelines as the hotel is well run by an excellent staff.

If your heart's desire is to feel you are better than others and make sure they know it, this is a great place for you.

The staff was friendly during check-in, dining and housekeeping.

It’s a beautiful one of a kind hotel to stay in.

The staff are also very friendly and helpful.

Indeed the next 3 days would prove to be the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation we have experienced.

Getting away from the triple digit temperatures at our home location was only one of the many wonderful experiences at this wonderful hotel.

We were able to get a table with a view of the porch/lake side which was very nice.

Our first view from the ferry of the Grand Hotel was breathtaking!

The Grand Hotel was an absolute pleasure from the first view from the ferry to looking back over our shoulders as we walked away down the hill.

We enjoyed views from the Cupola bar where the service was good.

but we did have a view of the lake which was so nice.

We stayed in a balcony suite and the views of the lake were spectacular.

It has the reputation for elegance and luxury with impeccable views.

We stayed 6 days and I will say the hotel is gorgeous, the landscape is breathtaking, an awesome pool that is a good distance from the hotel and after all that.

Fingers crossed to get a better view without having to morgage

The best thing was the roof top bar which had a great view

Now the island it self is AWESOME  would go back and stay downtown  and eat at the PINK PONY or MILLIES

The staff at the hotel was wonderful, the food absolutely delicious and plentiful, the views and flowers breathtaking, beds comfortable, the pool was heated to perfection and the dancing and music was so fun!

If you can, I would recommend spending the extra money to get a Lake View room.

We walked to the grand and enjoyed some spectacular views.

Views from the porch were great, main dinning room dinner was excellent.

The room was supposed to be a "motel" unit,

I can only speak for the motel rooms here:  the rooms are small, one window with a ceiling fan and no air conditioning.

No a/c, so we had to keep the filthy windows open to get any air and there was enough space around the screen windows to let insects in.

There is no air conditioner, no fans, nothing to move the stale air.

The fridge (no freezer) is anemic, expect cooling not cold.

No A/C made for warm sleeping in mid July.

They really dance when the ceiling fan is on.

Small fridge, small closet-type space, small table, small bathroom, small AC.

They did bring fresh towels when we asked and the hair dryer blew up and they brought us another one.

Since there was no air conditioning, our windows were open so we could hear everything from the cabins around us - crying children, conversations, laughter.

I guess the adjoining cabin uses same heater and there was no hot water for my shower.

The only word for the bathroom floor is filthy, even having used soap disc on the floor.

No soap or shampoo in the dispensers and 1/2 roll of toilet paper.

No tissues in the dispenser, and only 1 keurig coffee for the 2 of us.

They had run out of liquid soap & Kleenex, and only a thin blanket on each bed was not enough warmth for fall.

Very dated, dirty, no lighting, and the bathroom is incredibly small / filthy / nonfunctional.

We lowered expectations based on other TA, when we entered Cabin 510 we said WOW,  place looked great see pics, completely CLEAN,  no sign of mice,  bathroom clean even front porch with rocking chairs looked like they were wiped down plus we had great view of canyon.

Very small bathroom with a toilet in a tight alcove and a very small shower.

It is clear that Aramark has made some more recent updates to the rooms such as new paint and new tiles in the bathrooms,

I'm not going to mention the tiny bathroom because it all seems insignificant next to the fact that we had at least one mouse, and mice can carry Hantavirus and Plague.

The shower is small and in the corner and the toilet area is almost impossibly small.

I’m about 270lbs and only just fit my shoulders in the toilet nook as it’s so narrow.

Called reception who sent out someone who explained it was monsoon season and as roof not maintained there was a leak!

Bugs in tub, broken faucet popped off the wall when i went to wash the bugs down the drain.

We were expecting the amenities to be limited, as typical for remote locations like this and Havasupai Lodge for example.

You stay in old log cabins with very few amenities:  no wifi, no tv, mostly no cell signal and worst of all the hot water either did not work or took 5 minutes of running to get.

We walked out to Bright Angel Point each morning to see the sunrise.

There is one walk from the lodge that is paved, Bright Angel Point.

And best for last: Fantastic views of the Grand Canyon and particularly the Bright Angel Fault from the veranda at the Lodge, and similarly impressive views from Bright Angel Point which is very close to the Lodge.

but are very well situated (we stayed in 310 awhile back); 304 is indeed on the rim, but also adjacent to the often noisy East Terrace of the Lodge; 307 is fine, but rather exposed to gawkers headed to/from Bright Angel Point; 305/306 have super unobstructed views and imho are the most desirable in the park.

I watched the sunrise before going back to the lodge and doing the short walk to Bright Angel Point.

What a way to enjoy a glass of beer/wine or a cocktail sitting in a big chair as the sun goes down, and if you are up for an unforgettable sunrise, Bright Angel Point is less than 20 minutes down a  trail that begins at the lodge.

The view from the front porch was  very nice and it was just a short walk to the lodge and the Bright Angel Point trail.

On the plus side, apart from the spectacular views from the Lodge, there are a couple of nice walks from the Lodge to Bright Angel Point and the Transept.

From our porch with the amazing and gorgeous view, I eavesdropped on several elderly, obese or inappropriately attired people as they walked down the Bright Angel Point trail complaining about the lack of amenities.

The Bright Angel Point Trail begins from here, also.

Built in 1928 by architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood, the Lodge is constructed of timber and Kaibab limestone that makes up the cliff at Bright Angel Point.
