There is a small bar area which remained resolutely closed throughout the week.

Only complaint would be that hotel felt soulless at night with no real bar area and we found ourselves staying in the dining room chatting to fellow guests.

Old room, old carpet old bath room, no AC in summer, beds unconfortable, smelly room (to avoid smell open the window permanently.

I suspect that people further from the door were less troubled; (iii) we were supplied with one small bar of soap and two shampoo sachets for our entire week.

The bathroom was compact and had only a shower

On our check out day we had a late collection and the staff advised if we needed to freshen up you could use the shower area by the Sauna if needed.

If you like a cuppa, take a kettle and definitely take shower gel and shampoo etc as there isn't a lot in the rooms,

On the advice of an earlier comment I took a bar of soap and shower gel (also a shower hat).

The earliest bath was 4.15am, the latest shower was just before midnight.

Bring soap and shower gel because German hotels apparently only give one night's supply.

After a few days doing the scenic 20 minute walk to and from the village we started to make use of the free village bus which we found very handy.

The countryside around this part of Bavaria is stunning, and if you use the free mountain lifts, you can get up high and see most of it.

but it is free as our hotel provided us with a pass.

Stayed for 10 nights  20 minute walk to town, stayed with Thomsons good hotel, lovely big room, at front of hotel,very comfortable and clean, breakfast and evening meals very good choice, trains and buses with good service from centre of town and free during your stay in Ruhpolding, lots of nice shops in centre of town, lots of nice walks very enjoyable holiday hope to come back next year .

The Extra Card allows you to take local buses, trains and chair lifts etc for free and so is very welcome.

Although I would say it was a 30 minute brisk walk (down hill) for us to reach Ruhpolding, there is a free (with the extra card) local bus that stops outside the hotel approx every couple of hours throughout the day that will take you into the town.

That said, there is a local bus that can drop you right outside the door (free with the guest card)

With the Xtra card, most journeys were free, so we went on quite a few jaunts and used the chair lift and cable car up the mountains.

There is free wifi which you can get by asking and it works in only a few places( restaurant, bar, lounge and terrace).

but we truly enjoyed just being in the local area with the occasional free bus rides and trips up the mountains provided by the eXtra Card.

All the transport is free with the Rupholding card.

I would add that a visit to the lovely spa town of Bad Reichenhall, which is free on the bus, is well worthwhile.

The hotel also gives you a voucher for a complementary coffee and cake in the restaurant.

Also a nice touch when you arrive is a voucher for free coffee and cake one afternoon of your stay.

You can also get to Bertchesgarden and Bad Reichenhall free on these cards and to Salzberg for €4 return.

It was a great bonus because after spending the day sight seeing or walking we could go relax in the outdoor/ indoor pools surrounded by wonderful scenery.

The food was very poor most of the week anyway with some guests (including myself eating in the town).

The only niggle was that the WiFi in our room was poor and consisted of obtaining vouchers that only allowed 6 hours online,

however, was pretty poor due to the fact we could hear running water, toilets flushed, showers and baths being run at all hours.

The restaurant had a very nice buffet breakfast in the morning and the dinner was also very good.

There is a child's menu which our 9 and 12 year olds had to choose from.

The staff, especially Evelyn, Angela and Helga in the restaurant, were brilliant, friendly, attentive and helpful in every way.

Evening meal was four course, salad, soup, two choices of main course or vegetarian option and a dessert.

Our experience of the accommodation, the staff, the location, the food continued to impress throughout our entire stay.

The food was varied, and of a high standard.

I requested a Vegan option and received one meal over the 7 days.

Meal times were as much a social event as an opportunity to eat, with the various guests asking each other about their experiences of the current day and plans for the next.

The starter salad buffet was sometimes good and included meat and fish and at other times just some bowls of salad leaves.

The rooms were clean, staff friendly food good.

The soups were especially noteworthy and I would love some of the recipes for them!

Food excellent with choice of meat, fish or vegetarian.

There are beautiful walks and mountains and the town itself has some great cafes and bars.

The staff was very pleasant and was willing to assist.

We were very surprised that the child's menu doesn't include a dessert, which I felt was not welcoming for the children.

The Landhotel Maiergschwendt was a well run hotel with lovely friendly staff and a very good cook who all spoke good English.

The manager and his staff could not do enough to make us feel welcome.

My self and a Thomson Rep requested on many occasions a Vegan option be available

Breakfast was good and the staff was very nice and friendly.

but the staff had prepared a cold plate for us and were more than happy to accommodate my vegetarianism.

There was a couple of friendly English speaking waitresses who were lovely and very helpful who appeared later on in the week.

The Landhotel was a good, clean hotel with friendly staff, food was fine (meat, fish and vegetarian dishes) and plentiful as part of our 2-week Thomson half-board package.

There were plenty of good points about the hotel: we had a very good, spacious, clean room, with a balcony and nice views; the hotel is out of the town and very quiet at nights; the food was generally very good indeed, with the coffee at breakfast of a good standard (unlike in many other hotels that we have stayed in) and the staff happy to provide hot, frothy milk.

The atmosphere was quaint with plants and flowers with beautiful views surrounding the entire restaurant.

but set in beautiful countryside with stunning views of the mountains from our room balcony.Our room was clean and adequate, only thing missing was a kettle and fridge.

There is also a nice walk, through a little wood, into the town, with great views on the way.

It is a long walk in the evening to get a drink in the village.

The location of hotel was a 20 to 30 minute walk into town

The walks in the countryside are very well signposted.

The walking is excellent, the Cross Country skiing some of the best in the world.

Ruhpholding is a lovely resort and is great for different levels of walking, I would I would highly recommend it as a place to holiday.

The walk to the railway and bus station takes 30 minutes.

The shower was good (useful after a hot day walking).

The hotel is approximately 30 mins walk from the main village, with a number of routes to choose from and provided good access to some lovely walks.

From the hotel you can plan a variety of walks from the sedate to the challenging.

The walk to the town was 20-25 minutes away (if you are a slow walker then this will take you longer so please bear this in mind if you are meeting anyone in the town).

The breakfasts were very good, a lot to choose from, cold meats, cheese, cereal, ommelettes, fresh fruit, yogurt and many other things, the coffee was served to the table.

Oliver and the ladies at breakfast should also be thanked for their efficiency and friendliness, as should the Egyptian chef at the egg counter who was lovely.

Delicious vast breakfast buffet, and wonderful dinners every evening.

Breakfast was self service and absolutely fine.

This time a buffet grill evening was the on the cards!

&  one of the best breakfast spreads I have ever experienced.

Breakfast is buffet-style and also here the whole week difficulties in managing to keep up with the food and glasses.

There was always a chef in the morning prepared to make crêpes,  eggs your way or omelettes.

Breakfast is outstanding, offering a great variety of choices and assisted by very kind personnel (the chef is a real entertainer)!

The breakfasts were good with a fair choice.

Restaurant was spacious with large range of foods for breakfast, hot food cooked fresh by the chef to your specifications.

The breakfast was the best I have ever encountered by far.

Overall service was very good, the food at  breakfast was  very good.

Some misunderstanding to explain the "chef" what "Sunnyside up" eggs are,

Tremendeous breakfast buffet, included in the very affordable hotel price.

The rooms were comfortable with private balconies, the ammenities were numerous, the pools were clean and warm, the location was convenient, the staff was wonderful, the food was plentiful and yummy, and the bartender was very accomplished The best Manhattan, even better than 21 and other locations in Manhattan and one night he created a "special" for we vodka drinkers with lemongrass and a lime wedge garnish; he did not share the ingredients.

We arrived quite late in the evening and once we had checked in went to the bar to have a drink, have to say the service was not good and there were only 6 of us sat at that point.

However, when one has to wait half an hour for a bartender to appear with no staff in sight, one wonders whether the hotel wants to earn money from parched guests who would like an after dinner drink?

Said receptionist was otherwise not occupied and seemed to feel that guests were intruding on her leisure time behind the desk.

Need to change this in name of future guest - I think.

Nevertheless, there are some little improvements that they could make, like not sitting together all the 10 guests that they have in the low season in the restaurant.

Having asked the dark haired receptionist to call a colleague on multiple occasions, we were met with an offhand response, which is absolutely unsatisfactory.

but there was an appalling breakdown between the kitchen and the service to table which resulted in really annoying delays, and several requests (eg some cucumber and pepper to go with a salad) were acknowledged but never delivered upon.

And it is difficult to criticize if it was for free. Let me put it this way: I asked my  wife "was he just doing something?"

& asked upon arrival where third bed was..recption told tonopen the sofa: 80yr old dirty red woolen sofa was 1m30 lomg &30cm large..no sheets yet tecrption didn t understand the irony when asking if it was made for dwarfs..

We asked for it at the end and then we got some little money.

The half board dinner set menu was of a very good standard and appetizing as was the breakfast.

but generally things were fine until we got to the 4 course evening meal.

Very friendly staff who met every request with a smile. The half board food was exceptional (and I am very fussy!!)

The only wesk point is the restaurant, use to be fully booked, and they clise very sooon the kitchen.

That meant chicken Caesar salad, schnitzel, and a few other items.

Breakfast allows a wide choice of food, in line with local traditions.

For the first time in all those years we booked only B&B and we were amazed at what was on offer in and around the village for an evening meal.

The Ku Hotel looked good, location was good, spa area looked really nice, rooms were reasonably priced, OK, its a bit quirky with the cow stuff everywhere

Spa: Well, my wife does *really* a lot of them, so  she is quite experienced.

They also have a sauna room which is naked only.

The resort had numerous steam baths and saunas, all working perfectly with wonderful support staff.

The sauna installation is also very nice, and the views from the swimmingpool are spectacular.

Massages a lot of packages to chose from at a moderate price
Hotel prices are very moderate, rooms are quiet you don't hear the people next to you.

New Hotel,super spa ,no lagagge service, good dinner and very good breakfast.

As said, very geared towards German population with textile free saunas, and unshaven naked german people roaming around.

We left very early in the morning so checked out the night before, the lady on the reception was very pleasant.

Good points - the spa area is really nice - my husband enjoyed his steak from the grill - staff were friendly (if untrained) - we quite liked the quirky cow theme,

Staff are friendly and attentive, and the professional management team cannot do enough for you, always checking you are happy.

The service is excellent, the personnel very kind, well mannered and helpful.

Staff was wonderful and rooms tidy with views from every room.

There are always easy options for kids, and very tasty options for grown-ups.

The cliche of "when my kid is happy, I'm happy" really applies here.

Price with all inclusive is absolutely affordable (we paid 1400€ for 2 adults and 2 children).

What a great way for a family with young children to have a ski week.

They assign you table with the proper child seat(s) according to your child age.

The location is perfect for kids attending ski school and the play areas are quite nice.

If you need a family holiday which includes todlers or babies.

Well located to cover the nearby ski slopes, and next door to a great ski school for kids.

Toys, play rooms, child care, it was all there!

I am delighted that I went to this hotel, all I hope is that they maintain their great standards as I will be recommending this hotel to everyone with young children. Thanks to all at Hotel Babymio for an unforgettable holiday :)

It is the perfect spot for first time parents with a small baby.

For us the (*) less is for the kindergarten (baby club).

We just spent a week at the Banymio with our 3 children ages 1, 5, and 9.

Eating
Everyone staying there had children under 5 and there were many babies.
