A small family run hotel with amazing facilities, friendly staff, excellent food and a superb spa and pool.

We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, the exquisite food and perfect cleanliness.

We love the hotel, its friendly people, excellent cuisine, great selection of Austrian wines, pool with classical music and the way Familie Zitka offers a personal touch to the hotel guests.

We appreciated especially good meal, friendly staff and indoor playground.

To a man they were friendly, efficient and couldn't do enough for you. I would like to particularly mention Peter in the bar (happily stayed open until 3am one night when we had a little party) and was lovely to chat to (not to mention coming up with some great drinks!)

A list of the positives and negatives of the hotel:

+ Very friendly and helpful staff for the most part, it feels like an old-school family hotel with Dr. Zitka keeping a close eye on things and speaking to guests at dinner time.

The ski shuttle was very nice, and the drivers friendly and service-minded.

Examples: - owners who care for a very good atmosphere(greetings for AXEL), - delicious food, - always nice and helpful staff, - a lot of snow, - wellness zone, - good old friendly Wuschel.

The good was great as usual, thr staff was friendly and the playground was the best thing about the holiday for the kids.

however everyone in the hotel is so friendly and well intentioned that you will for sure oversee this.

I can assure you of: Delicious food, friendly and helpful staff, excellent SPA, outdoor pool with thermal water, indoor pool, gym, big playground for children, indoor tennis courts, comfortable rooms, Owners asure all possible comfort for guests.

The food was beyond exceptional - at every meal and the staff - all of them - were so friendly and welcoming!

The hotel has very nice facilities, it is clean, the stuff is friendly, they sincerely trying to help you,

The service from the front of house to the bar staff and the restaurant staff is second to none.

The staff was very kind and helpful (for example one waiter offered my husband medicines for backpain).

Beautiful place - incredibly clean; very nice and helpful staff; very elegant SPA with two outdoor and one indoor pools, big kids club with planty off activities also for adults, two tenis courts, ski bus, many daily activities, live music, good food, so: generally wonderful atmosphere.

We have visited Sonngastein since our children were very small, with their grandparents, and each time have had a fantastic welcome, beautiful food, opportunities to relax recuperate and the staff are extremely helpful, thoughtful.

The owners are incredibly warm and welcoming.

Finally the personnel was so welcoming, arranging and available!

The staff are amazing, food and facilities excellent and most of all our children have the best time.

Overall a great stay with highlights being the amazing staff, great food, an indoor playground that will never be bettered and great ski instruction and suitable slopes for most levels.

The owner recognizes you and has a personal chat with you upon your arrival.

I must not forget to praise all the hotel staff, especially Mr Zechner and waiters from the restaurant - they always do their best to answer all the guest needs.

The waiters were doing their best at all times, smiling and cracking a joke, adding to the experience.

I think that our children were probably a bit young to come here - the ski school at Bad Hofgastein is a bit 'shouty / unsmiley' for our 6 year old and the blue runs around Angertal / Bad Gastein and down to Bad Hofgastein are generally just narrow tracks, not proper pistes.

I appreciate numerous things - cleanliness, spacious and well designed rooms, peace and quite, exquisite cuisine and very friendly to dogs.

Thank you Camila and Claudio in the restaurant for the most professional and guest-friendly approach in all the hotels in which we stayed the last 20 years.

I would like to thank to staff, also, that we could leave hotel little later, after 11 am.

The hotel director responded that 97%  of the guest like the food.

First of all hotel personnel were very polite at the reception point and overall.

The entire team is ready to offer you a great holiday which opens up all your senses, from the relaxing spa, to the high quality gourmet food offered by warm and smiling people, adding up also great outdoor activities which keep your full day busy.

Retention of employees is not easy in the Austrian alps, so I do hope that Danica, Joszef, Frau Haas, Natasja and all the other stars in the hotel are remunerated in such a way that they will still be there next time we show up.

Services are not four star and the hotel is not suitable for demanding luxury and style loving hotels as it is obsolete in some parts.

It is an OK 3 star hotel trying to be a 4 star.

This hotel is certainly NOT a 4 star superior hotel.

You can understand why this place used to be five stars.

We had all our windows open due to the heat of summer therefore, as a road-side hotel, the traffic early morning could be a tiny bit noisy

this is probably due in no small part to the ‘wellness’ facilities on offer at Hotel Romerhof.

Everything is really clean, the rooms are very comfortable, the food is delicious, the staff is amazingly friendly and the pool is great.

but there are steps up to the ground floor, and a few more steps after taking the lift, which is not ideal for shlepping heavy bags.

but no help with bags and there are stairs between the car park and the lift and the lift and the rooms so make sure you carry your bags.

Only minus is the indoor smoking zone, which is located in the center of the bottom fælle, meaning that the smell often is noticable.

The smoke can be smelled far up on the first floor, etc.

4* hotel plus, you even get sparkling wine for breakfast in the morning, that's more like a 5* hotel service:) Thank you again and again to the owners and the team for a week in paradise!!!

Even Shwarzeneger looked at me from the wall during my workout😉 The waitresses were really nice and even the host greeted us during our dinner.

We stayed here for 2 days with my family and all of us loved this place. Just to give a quick summary:

- clean, modern rooms
- quite versatile, delicious foods
- nice, helpful staff members
- clean, well maintained pool and relaxation area
- good saunas (especially loved the dampbad and it is nice that there are dried fruits, tea, water etc.)

Negative:
- we did not enjoy the dinners- the taste was some kind of boring and the options were limited.

Overall the hotel is wonderful and the family that own it are wonderful and their staff is very polite.

Unfortunately we had no chance to try sauna and relax area due to limited time.

Due to bad weather we couldn't ride the mountain pass so my wife and i saw a camping sign as we passed this hotel.

In fact we are due to go again next week (March 2009)!

Everyone, from the owners to the wait staff, is friendly and helpful.

The waiters and waitress in the restaurant are the same every time we visit and are faultless and always friendly and pleasant.

Lady on reception was very friendly and provided us with a booklet for local vouchers, including the glacier road.

The breakfast was copious with the owner attending to her guests personally.

Locations is great (for skying, tracking or cycling), the pensions is very clean and elegant and the the owners are very nice people, trying all the time to help you and to make you feel special.

The hosts really love what they do and you can see it when Marlene (the owner) is pouring your coffee at 7AM or Hermann (her husband) is heating the sauna in the afternoon after a ski day.

The village is a bit strange - just a string of several hotels, B&Bs and a tourist info place, so no shops or other amenities.

Our room was cleaned on a daily basis, towels replaced and even our bed linen had been changed a day or two before our departure.
