but for 50 euros we used the ski lift locker which just about held 2 sets of skis, helmets and boots – however, if you don’t want to hire the ski locker, the bus to the Schlossalm lift (Bad Hofgastein) is 30 yards from the front door and takes only a few minutes – runs every 15 minutes.

Just make sure that the room door closes when leaving the room, with doors being of heavy wood they tend to stay open unless you really check.

You really had to keep every door and window open.

She didn't go into any of the rooms at that time as not once did we hear a door open or close.

The door switch was a bit temperamental meaning a cold poolside dash back inside.

Russian guy brought a less then a year old baby to a sauna, Brits were jumping all over the same area screaming about their sporty achievements, some Russian girls were entering different sauna areas each minute, someone left the sauna door wide open.

That included the bathroom door (no it wasn't frosted glass it was plain) - so warning your partner that you were going to the toilet became a standard thing to do so they could avert their gaze!

The spa facilities were clean and beautifully designed as was the gym and other facilities.

The hotel was absolutely fantastic, a great room to accommodate a family of 5, very helpful staff (helped us retrieve lost property on a bus), great spa facilities.

Friendly staff, amazing food, great facilities, the ski bus is extremely close to the hotel, impeccable rooms!

Then there is a decent sized indoor pool that it suitable for swimming, plus a spa and relaxation room.

The spa, pool and fitness facilities are top notch!

We had a great time skiing and the facilities the hotel offered were just right for us.

This is a top class hotel with excellent facilities (excellent food, an outside swimming pool with amazing views on snow covered mountains, very comfortable, spacious and quiet bedrooms) and very friendly and helpful staff.

It has a good small gym plus some gym classes if you don’t like to ski very much.

The hotel had excellent spa facilities, swimming pools and gym.

Spa facilities after a hard days skiing include jacuzzis, 3 types of saunas and both heated indoor and outdoor pools.

There is a well equipped play room for the children and the spa area is bright, clean and has fabulous views of the mountains.

Gym is really OK and provides for all basic machines you need.

First class spa facilities, outdoor pool with super views, great saunas, steam room, relaxation area.

The thermal outdoor pool was wonderful after a day’s skiing, there is also an indoor pool and sauna which we didn’t use.

The spa area is worthy of a visit, indoor and outdoor pool, saunas, steam room and relaxation areas plus treatment rooms for massages which can be booked (At Cost)

The owner is an artist and has lots of his large canvases around the hotel which are beautiful.

It was very clean, The outdoor pool is great, quite big, the indoor one is also o.k.,

The pools are heated, and the heated outdoor pool is fantastic for a evening swim.

The outdoor pool also had amazing views of mountains.

We also enjoyed our dips in the bubble pool and the outdoor thermal pool after our day on the slopes even when it was -10 outside - so relaxing for aching muscles!

The outdoor pool is super and big enough to do laps (around 20mtr).

The outdoor pool is a lovely experience, and for those who fear the chill, there’s an indoor one too.

Hotel has a fab spa area with indoor Jacuzzi pool leading to an outdoor pool with another indoor pool on the lower level.

A very comfortable and friendly family run hotel with excellent leisure facilities (including a heated outdoor pool, also in winter), and good food.

The indoor pool with jacuzzi is linked to a heated outdoor pool, wonderful to relax in after a day out skiing - or hiking,or just a day out exploring the fabulous Gastein valley.

The hotel benefits from the naturally heated spring waters that the spa town is built over, and this finds its way into your bath water, your drinking water and the water in the thermal indoor and outdoor pools and whirlpool.

The thermal indoor and outdoor pool was lovely and the spa facilities were great.

I would highly recommend this hotel, the room was nice and spacious with beautiful mountain views, the spa/thermal area is lovely after a days skiing, outdoor pool is fab especially when showing outside and the food is simply amazing, it was like dining in a top restaurant every night, each course as good as the next, we truely enjoyed our stay here,  great selection of food for breakfast, fresh omelettes etc.

There was an indoor pool, hydro massage pool joined with an outdoor pool, steam room, infrared room and two saunas.

but can't really comment too much as the visibility that day was too poor.

The Hofgastein area is very poor for skiing if you are an average skier and should only be booed if you are a confident intermediate or above.

Our only poor praise was our room was a bit dated.

There was always a vegetarian option for the main course or fish.

The food was extraordinary, both  dry fine dining with a 6 course menu every night and well prepared.

We cannot fault it in any way, the food was excellent and catered for the Gluten Free and Veggies amongst us.

The food for breakfast and for dinner varied and delicious and absolutely loads of it, and it was quite a treat to be able to come off the slopes for ‘Scooby snax’ of soup and cakes before you settle down for your early evening Snooze followed by a swim in the glorious outdoor thermal pool.

we returned each day to soup and cake which kept us going until the evening meal.

My favourite appetiser was baked tofu with a rich tomato ragu.

We also really enjoyed the food and drinks in the Hotel’s cosy restaurant and bar.

Soup available apres ski and keeps you going before the fabulous evening meals.

but for us it was ok, you can order anything from the restaurant.

The food was excellent and well presented with lots of choice.

Our room was warm, spacious and bright, the beds were comfortable and the shower was decent.

The bathroom had a large walk in shower with room for two people.

The suite we stayed in, 2 connected rooms, was ideal for our extended family of 6.

There was plenty of storage and lighting in the room.

The hotel is modern beautifully maintained, the rooms are spacious, with loads of storage space, essential for skiers!

Super hotel with fabulous wellness area.stayed for a week's skiing holiday in January via crystal holidays.single room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the slopes.

We had a superior room, and it was quite comfortable with a large bathroom and balcony.

The rooms are great, and the cleanliness was outstanding.

Our party had three rooms  - all different types and all were very comfortable and well appointed.

The rooms are really nice - if you get an older style or newer room and very clean.

After skiing, soup and cake was available and dinner was 6 courses if you could manage it.

We have been skiing together for over 20 years (some even longer than that) This was one of the best Hotels we have been to and we have been to many.

we enjoyed a hearty breakfast which set us up nicely for our skiing.

Our balcony overlooked the outdoor pool which we used every evening as it was a great way to relax our muscles after skiing.

Just got back from a weeks skiing & visiting family in the area.

This is supplemented by soup at cake at 3 when you return from skiing.

Visited this lovely hotel in January, my family were skiing and I was caring for my grandchild during the day.

No need to take your car to go skiing (though if you want to get to Sportgastein or Dorfgastein in a quicker and more convenient was, by car it is just a 10 or 15 minutes drive there).

We had booked to do skiing so resisted this time

The area for skiing is extensive and you could get the bus to other areas on your pass.

Great skiing area rounded off each day with lovely facilities in the hotel.

We stayed here whilst skiing over the new year.

If you are the same, rest assured that if skiing turns out not to be for you, this hotel will provide a great holiday with wonderful food.

We didn't venture into the town in the evening as too easy to relax in the bar for a couple of drinks after dinner and we were quite tired after skiing.

The rooms are so well equipped, food and the Spa- just perfection after great skiing which we had in glorious spring sunshine.

Spa facilities were as you might expect at a quality hotel.

One of our party tried the massage services for an injury, which he said helped enormously.

It was wonderful swimming around in the dark, looking up at the piste bashers working on the slopes, with the steam rising up from the pool.

Staff were friendly, spa was amazing and the outside pool was big enough to get a decent swim.

The are 4 types of saunas to choose from.

We much liked the nice Austrian tradition of free afternoon soup and cakes, which is just great when returning from the slopes, before enjoying the spa.

Our waiter Sebastian was lovely and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

All the staff there are friendly and very helpful, would certainly recommend this hotel for both winter and summer holidays.

The reception staff were really really wonderful and nothing was too much trouble.

The team at the hotel were extremely helpful, and what was particularly good was that the prices for drinks were very reasonable so you didn’t feel the need to go off elsewhere.

The Rauriserhof is a large, well-appointed hotel with pool, gym, sauna and tennis courts on the edge of Rauris town.

The standard of this hotel, it's traditionally dressed staff, it's incredible food, it's leisure and fitness offer is of the very best we have ever experienced.

The spa and swimming pool are great to stretch muscles and relax.

Bus stopped right outside hotel and dropped of at ski lifts buses ran every 30 mins 
The hire shop was very efficient and we got our ski hire equipment easily.

The family run hotel is very hands on & both the family & their staff are very friendly, courteous and professional.

The hotel is very clean, comfortable and cosy, food was great and the owners(The Mayer family) and staff were friendly and helpful at all times.

It's everything an Austrian hotel should be, traditional, family run, wonderful food, great staff.

however as taking the family we stayed in the Rauriserhof which turned out to be an excellent choice.

We did not ski at all, our winter holidays are always about hiking, not skiing.

Our first skiing holiday and the hotel was great, the staff were super friendly, the room was spacious and the food was amazing!

For our first ever skiing holiday a perfect resort and hotel for adult beginners.

but who spends much time in the bedroom on holiday anyway??

I have just returned from a winter break with my wife and daughter.

We think that Rauris would make an excellent base for a longer summer holiday, bringing our car and dog.The plus points are that Rauriserhof accepts dogs (at E15/night, as I recall), offers the mountain guide's services (which would be of great interest) and, we understand, a pass to the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse which saves the toll of E38 per day.

The hotel is in the  village of Rauris that has a lot of ski and walking options for a pleasant vacation and is reasonably priced with a good deal for  half -pension (which, de facto is nearly full pension because of a midday snack that is available in the mid-late afternoon.

but the mountain huts and ski lift area make the resort a great place for a holiday.

Overall a wonderful holiday was spent at this hotel and I can highly recommend it

My wife and I stayed at the Rauriserhof Hotel in March 2014 for a skiing holiday.

Stayed here for a week on a skiing holiday - All very positive, and I agree with other reviewers about the excellent quality of the food and the very helpful and pleasant staff.

In short, Rauriserhof is the ideal base for your Raurisertal holiday: you can start great walks and excursions from the hotel, and enjoy a delicious dinner when you return!

Booking direct is also very easy and so forget the holiday companies and save yourself some money.

We booked our holiday via Crystal Ski because that was the cheapest way.

We didn't even ski we just went for a family break and it was perfect.

This has to be just about the perfect location for a ski or walking holiday.

Food and drink reasonable in the village and on the slopes.

however the highlight is the restaurant and staff.

The hotel is modern and the food is top quality.

The restaurant, chef and staff are a credit to the hotel.

The hotel certainly lived up to the comments in previous reviews, especially the standard of customer service, food quality, comfort, leisure facilities and attention to detail.

The evening meals are very nice and consist of multiple courses with some very tasty main courses.

The food was first rate and some of the gourmet meals were of an extraordinarily high standard in terms of presentation and flavour.

Clean, great food, drink much like UK bar prices.

Great breakfast, splendid afternoon buffet and every evening great menu or buffet.

but always found more than enough to eat at the buffet and/or by mixing items from their fixed menu, which comes with half-board.

She was given fruit salad for dessert each evening bar one.

Thank fully the hotel moved us to a nice room .

The hotel is stunning value for money - the rooms are comfortable and clean and have a good view from the balcony (good views in all directions).

The rooms are spotless with everything required for a relaxing holiday.

The boot room is brilliantly located on the main floor and opens out on the street right next to the bus stop, no stairs to climb in ski boots, wonderful!

Our room was comfortable, with a balcony and excellent wi-fi.

The food, the staff, the rooms, the ambience are all absolutely excellent - this is still very deservedly the best hotel in Rauris.

Great experience, super kind service (thanks Corina, Sandra, Lisl, Sonia, Jamil, Martin, Martin and the other team members), very nice breakfast and evening meals (as well for the children as for us), great afternoon cakes & snacks, clean rooms with nice view on the Rauris Valley, good info on the walks in the neighbourhood & guide Martin, clean swimming pool and this within a unique area (where we had 8 days of warm weather (above 25°C) and even snow in August !
