A group of my friends and I chose to reserve several rooms in the Valley Wing that had access to the Club Lounge so that we could celebrate a dear friend's birthday.

Huge thanks to the Horizon Club Lounge team–– Andy, Luna, Betsy, Becky, and Clara!

Their club lounge was unfortunately close during our visit, so that is a reason to come back.

We stayed in Valley wing and enjoyed using the pool, the club lounge, and making use of dining credit in Flying Catch restaurant.

We enjoyed our breakfast and dinner at the Club Lounge.

We upgraded our room to the executive club wing to enjoy more space in the room, complementary extra bed for the kid, and the access to the club lounge.

Club Lounge is also good with lots of space to dine and sit.

The staff in the executive lounge really made the experience what it was, as the food was a bit average and not very hot.

She ask me whether need a glass of hot milk as she saw me feel cold.

Unfortunately lifts and corridors smelt of smoke and hot breakfast items lukewarm and congealed.

but for some reason Chinese buffets seem to have issues keeping their food properly hot.

Many local and international dishes were presented together with varieties of hot and cold beverages.

The room is clean and tidy, and the soundproofing is also very good.

Our rooms were clean and spacious and the rest of the hotel was lovely.

Rooms clean and comfortable, staff had good English and were very friendly.

We were greeted with warm tea and then shown to our impeccable room.

Stayed here a few times on business trips to China, really friendly service, fast check-in and checkout, large clean rooms and perfect fully equipped bathrooms.

It is also located near to the May 4th square subway and next to a huge shopping mall with plenty of food options and indoor playground.

The seashore is within the walking distance, and there is a great shopping mall next to it.

Between there is a variety of choices of food right behind the Hotels where shopping malls are just 5 minutes walk away.

The location of the hotel is excellent with city centre, beach and popular shopping malls all within walking distance.

And there is a huge shopping mall across the street and May 4th square is a short walk away, as is the ocean front.

Hotel was conveniently located right next to MixC, a big shopping mall with lotsa eateries and shops.

This hotel is connected to a big modern shopping mall as well which is very convenient.

Near of hotel you can find everything you can need and a big shopping mall is in front.

Location wise it's right next to a big shopping mall and a short walk to May 4 Square and the water, so very convenient.

I could mention that I like the beautiful yacht club near by and the new shopping mall next door

But we enjoyed very much the hospitality of following persons as we met them most time: Front Office manager Anny Zhang,  Ms Viktoria from front office, Mr. Kenta, Ms Bella Liu.

We, my wife and me really appreciated the treatment we experienced in Qingdao Shangri-La (sometimes a bit too good), as a guest, who years ago came frequently and now once again for a nice Holiday week in this beautiful city.

We are a western expat family of four who traveled the world and have tons of experience in with hotels especially in 4 and 5 Star hotels and resorts.

This was by far the best hotel experience I have had in Qingdao and in China.

This stay, like my previous experience, was pleasant and I'd recommend the hotel to anyone who wants a fuss-free and relaxing time in Qingdao.

The Village Lounge of the Shangri-La Hotel is an excellent complement to an overall great esperim experience of a 5 stars hotel.

The front desk staff and their manager-Mr Ryan and Mr Kento were very friendly and shown their hospitality well.

The experience can be quite challenging and QingDao Shangrila has definitely delivered.

We were very impressed by their warm hospitality - Kenta Goto, Manager in Valley Wing, little Liu, bell boy we met on our first arrival, Ella, Katy, Sunny and Crystal in Club Lounge, Liu Xiuyu in swimming pool and Jiang Bo Cui, cleaning lady for our room, etc.

Miss Zhu’s friendly, warmful and effective help and support give us an unforgettable and comfortable experience in Qing Dao.

I always have a excellent experience when I am at the Shangri La in Qingdao.

Even after I said it was OK and I would like to wait and see whether the noice would be gone at night, York tried to get another room for me.

I had to wait for more than an hour for my room on arrival

however, I had to wait a while and actually had to show my booking with the "breakfast included", as they made clear to me that breakfast was not included.

I had asked for a lavender pillow and it was there waiting for me.

We had a room on the upper level that looked over the residential area and the houses here are more up market than  in other parts of Qingdao.

First I would like to begin with the decision of the management of this hotel to sell at the reception dried seafood like on the street market the whole lobby stinks of fish and seafood.

Hotel is immediately next to a shopping mall with super market.

If you go to Qingdao, you should stay at this hotel, if not for it’s great location, best WiFi reception, cleanliness and up to date services, you can top it up with the amazing professional Katherine that does her best for welcoming you and make sure all is perfect, if this is not enough, her English is one of the best I’ve ever heard in China and believe me, this is really important while traveling in China.

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Qingdao, the staff are very friendly, the service is excellent and the location is relaxing.

Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, from GM Eddy to staff like Sunny Shao, manager at the Exe Lounge, Emma at the buffet, chef May, Vita, Bruce and FO manger Cindy and their staff members are very professional.

This is a good hotel, good location and lovely staff

it's this overwhelming stench that greets you when you arrive to check in.

One thing I would like to highlight is the wechart QR code, make me easy to communication with staff if I need any assistance.

My 3 interactions with staff (check-in/out and going to the health center) we’re all very pleasant, I felt they did their best to accommodate my requests.

Hotel is situted near by shooping complex .Hotel rooms are very clean and flooring and also well maintained.The hotel staff is very co operative in nature which is the best service.Break fast was very healty and  i could get  veg meal.

but I guess the previous guest did not care as the room smelled like an ashtray.

Although I asked for a non smoking room, I got a smoked one.

The room was supposed to be non-smoking (at least that's what it said on the door)

This hostel is much better than than the nearby Kaiyue hostel if you have strong legs because you need to walk up to the hill for at least 100 meters.

we had to ask the staff to order taxis for us as they don't go up the hill at all.

After the cab dropped me off at the bottom of the hill, I still had to stop and ask directions twice before I found it.

but it turned out to be on a hill a little far from the train station.

It was a bit of a walk up the hill to reach the hostel,

There are sometimes cabs dropping people off so you can simply hop in; otherwise you have to make your way down to the major intersection off the highway (Jiaozhou and Jiangsu) that is difficult for cabs to stop at -- best to cross the street and catch one from there. On the way back, be prepared to practice your Mandarin and explain the location at length unless your cabbie is already acquainted with it -- "you mean that place on top of the hill?"

The only problem is that the hostel is on top of a hill.

At night walking down the hill is a bit creepy so I would suggest to bring a torch and

the cleaning of this place can definitely improve more, it's not really in the center of the city, and had a hard time catching a taxi on the way out, overall not a bad place

The hostel is very dirty, and cleaning is basic for higienic and health, maitenance is very poor, locker on the cabinete was break, destroyed roof on the shower, windows, sofas, steps, inside roofs, plugs all break.

They could clean it up a bit -- get rid of some of the extras.

The staff very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable.

The room was very clean, and their rooftop bar is worth to check out !

The rooms were clean and towels are changed daily, which was nice for a hostel.

The room was clean and the sheets looked clean too and so did the bathroom.

We resorted in plugging all bathroom inlets and putting a mat over the floor drain plus leaving the balcony door open.

The missing toilet paper was quickly solved.

I had read a couple of reviews saying that their was mold or leaks in the bathroom

Third, when using the wash basin, the water splashes everywhere, and this was with the water flow on low.

I had to swap rooms until I found one that had a door lock in proper order and a more functional bathroom.

The toilet, sink, and shower were at least 10 years old.

The hotel itself wasn't too bad at all, a typical hotel room in China in a moderate hotel, it was a comfy room, spacious, with good beds, and a view of the beach.

The room was spacious, the bed fabulous, lighting very good, tea available in the room, and a wonderful balcony overlooking the beach.

The room was a good size and overlooking the beach.

The towels and bedding was so soft and so comforting.

but the bed was soooo comfy and the pillows were so fluffy and soft, breakfast in the revolving restuarant was fabulous.

The bed was very comfortable and the pillows excellent.

The standard sea view rooms are excellent and since the balcony wall is transparent you can lie in bed and see the sea.

Cleaning was done two times a day and lovely notes were left onto your bed by personnel for communication.

We have grown to expect the very firm beds (by western standards "hard") and at the same time welcome the lower prices in Chinese hotels.

We really liked that the linens, towels, and bathrobes were really white, and not grayish that's so common at other Chinese hotels.

If you like a firm mattress, you will be in heaven.

The pool/sauna/massage area was being renovated, so we couldn't use this.

Some of the older rooms are in need of renovation,

but rooms in the south tower have not been renovated since the addition of the tower in the  early 90's.

The room was very clean, there were sufficient towels and the walk-in shower was good, there was also a large bath.

The room was very clean and well equipped including all bathroom accessories, tea and coffe making tools.

It was pretty disgusting if I'm honest, though admittedly, this may be due to me being a highly Westernised Chinese,

The front desk lady was very rude and basically said all rooms are smoking barring one wing of the building.

Despite average reviews and complaints about bad smelling rooms I still decided to stay here and would say it was a good joice.

I keep wondering when the Chinese will learn to use some bleach in their laundry process.

The first thing I noticed walking into the lobby was a musty smell.

My wish list would be to have one TV channel with English.

but cable network is avaiable in the room and not very fast.

The TV was tiny and even had pornography on it.

The typical English language channels were offered (CNN, HBO, etc.).

Overall the experience was pleasant and I would recommend even leisure travellers to visit the hotel.

And, don't forget to visit "Qingdao Beer Street" and enjoy some great seafood!

AC was not working, TV was not working, it was just horrible.

The air conditioning could have been better in the room and the main lobby.

The gym room is not up to standard and room is stuffy.

but other people had the same experience of the thermostat being useless.

Outdated decor and interiors, air conditioning not working 😡 bathrooms the size of a match box, confused staff !!!!

The a/c was not properly working, and the cooling effect was marginal.

Nothing had changed, that means, the interior really needed maintenance, wallpaper coming off, closet doors loose, carpets stained, windows unable to close properly, a/c was active

Once it was our turn to be served, I was quite irate and started telling Elliot how ineffective and frustrating it is to wait for more than 10 minutes before another front desk staff is asked to assist.

Buses and metro just almost outside of the hotel then u can be everywhere.

About 15 minutes walk is a bus service to the airport.

On several occasions we visited the Old (German) Town, which was best by Metro (newly opened) as it is cheap and fast,

A good business hotel which is also suitable for families.

Returned to Qingdao once again for a business trip, and the Crowne Plaza provides a welcoming atmosphere.

The Hotel is located conveniently, as almost all places (train station, malls, business centre) are easily reachable.

I stayed at this 5 star hotel several times during my business trips to Qingdao the last 13 years.

I travel all year round on business and come from the UK.

I was in room 3312 it was a suite they charged USD 200+/night and it was horrible.

and yes, the so called meal charges did not have signature!

When I went to check out they told me C Trip doesn't charge the full amount so thats why it was more expensive.

Newer hotels often have USB charging ports on the nightstand, so that people with any size plug can charge their phones at night.

The lack of power points beside the bed for charging phone, which for many is also alarm clock, is a major deficiency in the connected world we live in today.

Wall jacks are located near a table several steps away from the bed, so you can't charge your phone near the bed.

The negative:
The interior of the suite really needs to be updated and there were no bed side plugs to charge electronics, had to use the desk in the other room which had plenty of space to plug in.

I told them that a 1,000 RMB deposit was unnecessary as they had my credit card and that I would only have been responsible for having paid a 500 RMB deposit had I stayed only for one night.

The staff in general speak very limited English or not at all where asking for a wake up call is a major undertaking.

I told thembu am hoing to room please call me and let know.

Internet super slow that we have to use phone 4G .

They do have alarm clock with the old iPhone connection which is of little benefit for newer model iPhones or non iPhone users.

This was not convenient for using the phone as an alarm.

To find working power outlets for charching phone and laptop during the night was a bit tricky.

Have stayed one time before and Club lounge was closed (renovation I think).

but just -as the rest of the hotel- very outdated.

but it's in dire need of updating on the interior.

however everything inside is very outdated, they need major renovations if they want to keep up with Hilton or Holiday Inn.

Room was clean and comfortable and check in and out were fuss free.

Location is quite good, rooms are clean quite big and comfort is good, only the general feeling is of a quite old structure.

I always get upgraded to a suite, so always very comfortable here,

At checkin I was given a nice upgrade to a larger room.

We were upgraded to a room on the executive level, and our room was decorated with hearts and rose petals and balloons for our special occasion.

Good news is they upgraded to a suite when we arrived so cant complain about that.

The staff there were so nice that they upgraded me to a suite, despite being overbooked, because of our special occasion!

Lucky to be upgraded to a suite which was very nice, comfy bed, nice linen, great bathroom with nice amenities.

And, I thought it was great when we arrived to be upgraded to a suite
