Breakfast was perfect, our room was spacious and well furnished.

The environment was so quiet we slept very late into the morning and missed breakfast for 3 consecutive mornings!!!!!! !

Its located in town at Menlyn area in Pretoria that is very flexible to shopping and go to the restaurants in about 5 minutes you can do anything around.

We had to apply for Schengen visas and the guest house is situated conveniantly ,close to major shopping centres and hospitals!

The guesthouse is situated in a very easy to get residential area, which is a few minutes away from the big shopping mall Menlyn which includes a Cinema, many restaurants, game halls for children ect ect.

The room was a little bit cold due to the high ceilings

I stayed one night and could not sleep due to a very noisy party downstairs - management promised that it will stop @ 12h00, it has not stopped, then tried to contact reception and there was no response.

The location was a little difficult to reach, due to outdated google maps.

recently stayed at The Blades and was disappointed with the place due to the awful stench that lingered in the air the entire time we stayed there.

but due to the lack of attention to detail one would expect from a 4 star hotel we will unfortunately not return.

On a positive note,  the restaurant staff were super friendly and the food was outstanding.

Boma dinner is exclusive and private.The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Rooms were spacious and offered beautiful views over the river (albeit the river being a little green)

Upon arrival we were greeted in a very friendly manner and we basically had to just pick up the keys.

Cons:-
Carpeted (few signs of stain), not working fridge, dirty sofa, low water pressure for shower and chargeable ice cubes for R45!

-  I was a bit worried about the snakes after seeing the warning signs

the telephone had an sign acknowledging that it was out of order

I removed the stress of finding a place to charge the phone and risk losing it again at the dam.

In order to focus on the issues at hand, we felt it necessary to remove our management team from the everyday strains and stresses.

The room was not allocated by the hotel, receptionists asking us questions making as if we hadn’t booked.

Pleasant, quiet location with a great view, rooms isolated and private, and staff who seem to above and beyond the call of duty to meet guests' needs.

When I got to the hotel, the Receptionist was wonderful as well as the welcoming area.

I just want to find out how do we lay complains to the board of directors about people like him.

The housekeeping staff were absolutely super class as well as Bety or Pety who saved me from mosquitoes on one night.

The overall staff uniform is worn out;
Can reception staff have some uniform and some air-freshner at the reception area, the rooms smell so fresh more than the reception area; and
Also have hangers at the spa

Food was really exceptional and staff very attentive to all the needs we had for the conference.

A service orientated and excellent F&B team and Primrose at Conferencing is excellent.

The rowing activity was the highlight for me and getting to learn about the story of our gold Olympic medalists and how they trained and won the Gold.

What a stunning place with amazing staff , food was amazing, rooms clean and nice .

i loved the serenity of the venue.The staff were exceptionally professional.

Wifi in the bedrooms was also a big plus being a lodge.

From a conferencing point of view, the internet was frustratingly slow.

We struggled with the strength of the wi-fi signal.

The wifi was so slow it was impossible to access emails.

We had quite a few challenges with coming in on the tail-end of this conference. Load shedding, a lack of Wifi not working on my computer (I will have to ask IT!)

However, it lacks certain basic amenities such as the internet and so, it is not an ideal hotel for a business stay.

though there was a kitchen tea down stairs our moment was intimate and they did not miss a beat with anything.

Castello di Monte is located in very beautiful surroundings.

Our welcome was lovely, the views and sunset great from the tower, the rooms well appointed and fully quipped, not to mention beautifully designed and decorated.

Spectacular house, with gorgeous interior and exterior.

but its shades of Tuscany, beautifully furnished and decorated.

A beautiful building with all the luxuries  that you would expect in such surroundings.

Amazing staff, incredible food and beautiful Tuscan styled rooms!

but decided to dine in to enjoy the ambiance.

You could not do much better than this if you want quality in an intimate hotel with bags of character.

Food was excellent, massages and atmosphere was so fantastic!

If a peaceful stay in pristine surroundings is what you are after, this is it.

Service is top notch, rooms are very well furnished and ventilated (under floor heating is wonderful in winter) and bathrooms are spacious, with lots of hot water, separate showers and bathtubs.

We enjoyed the magnificent view from the tower terrace and the quiet surroundings.

The design of the hotel was dramatic, sort of a tuscan gold, with lovely faux finishing everywhere, fountains and great views.

What a wonderful time we had at this beautiful and elegant place.

Of course the electric sockets were the round 3 pin type - well we were in South Africa so we expected South Africa system - why anyone would expect anything different is beyond me!

Upon arrival we wanted to plug in various devices for charging,

Amongst many other things, the telephone was missing, room fridge not even plugged in.

We were told all the facts about dining and using the hotel facilities and left to our own devices.

Our only drawback was the typical high wall and electric wire combination along the road that you unfortunately experience throughout South Africa due to security concerns.

During the night nobody was available for contacting when we had power off in our wing.

You want to spend time just to explore the venue itself with its multiple layers and the lookout point at the top giving you a 360 degree view.

I had emailed the hotel in advance from the UK to ask them to arrange the purchase of some flowers to take when we dined at a friend's house nearby on that first night, when we got back from exploring the mall there was the biggest bouquet of flowers I had ever seen (white roses and lilies).

Unfortunately we had one night and a very early morning departure so we could not explore this property fully.

The staff were very helpful and friendly.

A private setting on the balcony complemented with a great continental  and hot breakfast, together with great and friendly service completed an excellent experience.

The staff was incredibly friendly and ensured there were petals, fairy lights and a lit fire during our dinner.

We spent our first night in South Africa here, and it was fantastic in every way, from the friendly welcome to the huge bedroom and beautifully kept gardens.

The personell working there are helpful and friendly, it is the most beautiful place that I know off you do not get board walking around because around every corner there are more that amazes you of the place.

Friendly and warm welcome, check-in was easy, the room spacious, also the bathroom, and everything worked fine, all was clean.

No matter, we had 2 (starter and dessert) and 3 course dinners, one glass of wine, and one water.

My husband only asked for a glass of wine

The wine list was very disappointing and we were surprised that wine came in small one glass bottles.

We were offered a glass of juice and then  taken to our beautiful room.

I was told "NO" so I went to bed with just having a bread roll that was set on the table and a glass of water.

Thus ensued a comical search for some type of solution, which culminated in the installation of a power strip and a 
plug adapter.

The aircon could not be put off, due to the remote not working and no plug to put it off.

but like d amd welcoming as a solo female it’s v v important to me taxis booked excursions food and I lost my case they managed to trace it for me all the team I dealt with where omazin!

All the meals were excellent as was the service by the lovely young staff.

but we were happy to eat in our room that night and for the remaining two.

In the morning at checkout our account showed an extra R139 for our dinner.

Given it’s out of town unless you have transport you will eat in.

Kingklip for starter and a steak for mains, both extremely  good.

Service on the terrace was appalling and similarly in their restaurant.

The breakfast and dinner were perfectly ok

Supper and breakfast were freshly cooked and tasty.

We dined on Ostrich which was glorious, and the service was superb.

Spacious room with everything you want, excellent food and service, peaceful shady garden and terraces to loiter whilst waiting for an onward connection.

Dinner was excellent and as it was my birthday I was given a complimentary bottle of bubbly .

The food offer at breakfast and dinner was good.

We were looked after like royalty, ate amazing food, drank lovely wine and only wished we could have stayed longer.

Enjoyed the pool and garden before the dinner.

The chef even sat with us to determine what specialty he could prepare for our dinner.

Thanks for the beautiful table setting and special attention to food.

We spent 2 nights at Costello di Monte and everything from location, rooms , service and food was excellent .

Our room had a large balcony for us to sit out on and admire the wonderful view.The food at breakfast and dinner was delicious with plenty of choice and the gardens were very well kept.

Greeted as soon as we step out of our taxi and suitcases were taken to our room.

We were in the room behind the concierge which had these amazingly high ceilings and nice a bathroom.

We had the most perfect engagement and it was all thanks to the team at Castello, especially Sheila.

They then hastily typed up a welcoming letter that we received after we have been in the room for a while.

The staff are very helpful and not permanently up your ally.

the owners were away, it was nice to see their staff and friends overseeing their absence were going to so much effort to maintain their reputation.

The facility is exceptional, the view is breathtaking, the staff is impecable and the dining experience was fabulous.

Every member of staff was helpful and efficient and the whole experience was wonderful.

The management and staff were extremely pleasant and attentive.

The members of staff were unassumingly efficient and charming, and  and an extremely helpful receptionist  organised our trips for us.

Highly recomended for special occations as the staff go out of their way to arrange everything to your liking.

Enormous attitude from Karabo the moment I called as we were having hot water issues (trickling took about 40 mins to fill up) when I called.

The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming, our room was large, and had all amenities,  the one problem we had was a low water pressure when we tried to have a bath!
