The fourth floor may be tricky for some people as you take the elevator to the third floor and walk up one spiral staircase.

The lift only goes up 3 floors, so the last leg is by stairs to the 4th floor.

(The only thing to note is there is only a lift to the third floor so if you have issues with stairs avoid the 4th floor).

Some of the bedrooms are on the ground floor while others are accessed by a staircase or a small lift on two further floors.

Our room was on the 4th floor and the elevator only goes up to the 3rd floor, so you have to walk up a further flight of stairs.

Three of these double rooms are under the eaves on the 4th floor – the lift only goes to 3.

The room was wonderful (be careful to check if you cannot climb stairs as I was on the 3rd floor and lift only went to 2nd floor).

Our room was on 4th floor and was accessible by elevator to the 3rd floor and then a short flight of stairs to the 4th floor.

We had asked for a quiet room and were on the last floor - those rooms are probably the smallest (they also have sloping walls as it's the attic, and the elevator comes only to 3rd floor).

Staff was very friendly and attentive- they had a free car service which was a real plus- met me at train and dropped us off at monastery an d took us to train station at end of trip.

Room: Our room was toward the rear of the third floor, easily accessible by elevator or stairs.

but simply asked if only deluxe as some I saw were larger on this site and also as I had broken both ankles by falling down steps so I’m still quite anxious with stairs, without hesitation we were moved to a room on 3rd floor.

One time I had walked up to my room with the wrong key card, after entering the wrong key card twice, the lobby manager rushed up to assist me (he spotted me and quickly came up the stairs to help).

We have travelled in Europe many times and this hotel is one of the best we have encountered: friendly and helpful staff; location near tram stop and not far from metro station; excellent breakfast buffet; inviting public rooms with beverages and pastries often available; great paintings and other decorations; two free Prague beers.

A complimentary welcome Prosecco and beer on arrival was a lovely touch and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

Our room had a small romantic decoration on the bed with some chocolates and we were able to have breakfast in our room - which we did on the last day and the amount we were given would have fed an army - well worth having!!

Although we were a bit unlucky and ended up with a small room with the big pillar inside which made it feel even more cramped.

The only criticism would be at breakfast where the dining room was a little small if the hotel was full.

It's is excellent for a party of three people, has one super king size bed in one room and a small double bed in the other room, plus a living room, a bathroom and a small kitchenette.

The rooms are small and tight, difficult to find a place to open the suitcase,

The hotel is quite dark and there was a smell of open fire the whole time(some people might like that),

There was also an unpleasant smell that did not dissipate throughout our 4 night stay.

Alternatively you can buy them from either the ticket machines at the tram stop or from any store that sells newspapers, cigarettes etc.

I hate the smell of cigarette smoke, period.

Now for the little details that could be improved: There was a persistent bad smell in the bathroom.

The entire hotel is non-smoking, not an easy thing to find in Prague.

I guess we're spoiled in the US where most places are non-smoking.

Not sure why smoking is so de rigeur in 2014.

Though we were given a non-smoking room, it is allowed to smoke everywhere.

but smelled of cigarette smoke (Note that our room and the rest of the hotel did NOT smell like cigarette smoke).

but nothing special and a little musty, as was the lobby seating area) and a very nice rooftop patio.

Also the soap dish (no drainage holes) was drilled into the wall directly under the shower head with obvious nasty white stickiness as a result.

I also felt the hotel was a bit smoky smelling.

And a big plus, given the prevalence of smoking in the Czech Republic, is the separation of smokers and non smokers at breakfast; smokers have their own space away from the main breakfast room.

Mistakenly I assumed all hotels in Prague would be non smoking as in the UK

Yes the hotel does smell of oak wood smoke from the log fires in the reception areas and we found it was a very homely and inviting smell not offensive in any way.

Just returned from Prague after staying at the Hotel Julian for 4 days.Staff were extremely friendly & welcoming.I've read a previous review that said the Hotel smelt of smoke.

The Breakfast is exceedingly good and refreshed all the time.

Service from the staff was impeccable, and so was the cleanliness of the facilities.

even though the streets were busy, with the windows shut you couldn't hear a thing and the air conditioning was wonderful as it was an extremely hot weekend.

The only issue was with the air conditioning which was very noisy.

but a portable unit, noisy but cooled the room effectively and there was also a fan.

The room was a bit old and the AC was really loud and it didn't really get cold.

On the other hand, the bedroom aircon was noisy.

We arrived early morning , the reception staff were really welcoming and friendly, They provided us with information about our stay, places to visit in Prague, free passes for the Lesser Town Charles Bridge Tower  (right next to hotel, you can go in/up the tower – great views over Prague – we did this first), maps and recommendations (including restaurant dining).

A small quaint hotel, with fantastic rooms, a great restaurant; not to forget the fantastically helpful, friendly staff and its location next to the historic Charles Bridge.

The breakfast was so much too choose from and very tasty, we had one evening meal on our last day which was faultless,(with 10% discount) all staff were attentive and friendly would definitely stay again if visiting Prague.

We were welcomed by the reception staff which were very friendly and they took us to our room which was right across the street .

We were traveling as a party of three, so our room included three beds, one single and one double.

They had booked through a third party service and feared their room may not be as nice,

but you won't hear traffic and crowds of rowdies as you might on the other side of the river!

but you can hear the outside if there are people screaming or being really loud which is no fault of the hotel.

Be aware that the street outside is full of very loud people during the night and very loud recycling trucks emptying seemingly endless supplies of glass bottles in the morning.

Only criticism was that the AC is a “portable” unit and was loud —

One downside though, we did have to sleep with earplugs as the room airconditioner was very loud.

The only complaint is the portable air conditioning unit was really loud.

but was itself quite loud and which shifted gears throughout the night.

but absolutely quiet  - except on Fryday and Saturday nights (predominantly talks in a loud voice and joyous laughs ).

The portable airconditioner was loud, and from the second night onward we decided to just have all the windows opened and that worked well, as there was hardly any noise from the street.

Initially, the front staff gave us a poor impression when we checked in and they literally gave us no assistance;

One, the room had poor temperature control.

however the downfalls to this hotel is the poor selection on the hotel restaurant menu and the total lack of views from the bedrooms, apart from that the staff were brilliant, kind and friendly and always wanted to help.

The interiors are dreadful - old furniture with pieces haphazardly chosen and of poor quality.

After a poor night's sleep I spoke to reception first thing who had the unit serviced and sorted whilst we had breakfast.

but than merely adds to the charm and it's not so dated that it seems in poor condition.

The atmosphere at the hotel was a pleasure - the nice and helpful staff, the food, the room - and beatifully furnished and decorated.

Staff was wonderful, polite and always helpful.

When problems arose, e. g. we had problems with the mattresses in our room (#124) in the dependance, they were immediately rectified.

The lobby is warm and welcoming with fresh, hot coffee.

We were met by Michael at reception who gave us a great welcome.

Reception again was excellent with really helpful staff. .

I was offended at Checkout - they insisted on checking the room before returning my deposit of 100€ 
The air conditioning was a plus because it was especially hot - the room was always cold !

The room had broken air conditioner, and safe did not work.

Just be aware that the heating is on as we boiled the first night haha!

Only reason was not a 5 is because we were there in temps of over 32c and air con was not as effective as I would have hoped.

The hotel is looking a little tired and the air conditioning wasn’t working, we were told it would be fixed the next day

Air conditioning does not work, secure car parking is non existant.

I came for 2 nights here, in my room there was at least 40 degrees, they told me the air conditioner is not working in the hole building, i asked for another room where i can open the window at least ( my room was attic room )

We had the luxury of having a fan for 3 beds to compensate the lack of air conditionning.

It may pay to check if any rooms have air conditioning.

Found our room small , typical European, temperature was very hot at the time we traveled and the room was also hot with only a small fan for cooling.

We got an extra electric heater to heat up the room.

The Air conditioning was a major let down with no real cooling effect no matter how much you adjusted it, which wasn't ideal in 30+°c temperatures, and made it difficult to sleep.

Be mindful that the AC is low powered and will probably struggle when the outside temperature rises above 24decC.

A little hot in the room, no automatic aircondition.
