You can choose to eat in the modern area or the classic Austrian area or in the "Stube" wich is the original beer "Stube", all in wood.

Matrei is in the centre of a fantastic alpine area, relatively unspoilt and quiet.

Spa area is in The new building, good to relax.

It has a spa area, modern and well maintained, a small minus would be the outside pool, unusable when is windy.

Great sauna and rest areas, eco-pool and loungers, garden, outdoor BBQs and local dancers and music some evenings.

There are two areas, one belonging to the old hotel and another connected, new and "architectural".

The spa / sauna area is particularly well crafted with a large beautiful glass enclosed sauna.

The main room was very nice, clean, spacious, with a bath tub in the "living area" and a shower in the bathroom.

Wellness area arranged in a very modern way - sauna, showers and a big relaxation room with books available.

I stayed with friends at the Hinteregger Hotel for a week's hiking in the Matrei area.

Great buffet breakfasts, plentiful varied food in evenings with great salad buffet.

Eco-pool, sauna, gardens and excellent breakfasts, much of it produced or grown by family in farm and smallholding (butter, cheese etc).

Breakfast includes a wide range of choices.

The evening meals were great and the breakfast buffet had everything for everyone.

Apart from that - a very nice experience, great food, very good selection at breakfast, and three main courses to choose from in the evening - everything was great, and the desserts were even better than that.

Breakfast was excellent and because we had a large group, there was a table reserved for us each morning. Abundant meats, cheeses, buns, toast, yogurts, jams & jellies, pastries & cakes, boiled eggs (make them yourself, not just hard boiled!!)

Room was a kind of suite - consisting of two rooms - double bedroom with big wardrobe and a "living" room with fold out sofa bed, table and 2 chairs.

The breakfasts and dinners were top notch Austrian cuisine.

The restaurant has also two dining area, one traditional full of wood and another more modern (plus a cellar, quite hide, with a massive oak table).

The family has artful (and beautifully) added new rooms with a very modern aesthetic.

The rooms are very clean and have a modern Tyrolean style with superb use of wood throughout.

We stayed in the more modern part of the hotel with a balcony, and overall we had plenty of room.

Spoiled with a fantastic breakfast buffet, finger licking afternoon food and a really high quality diner menu.

Superb 5 course dinner with choice from 2 or 3 options; both culinairy and healthy.

There was a huge selection, variety throughout the week and ingredients were fresh, seasonal and everything homemade.

There is a lot to like - nice staff, terrific views (see pic), wonderful breakfast buffet.

The food is modern Austrian, with high quality ingredients.

So, we spent 2 breakfast and 2 dinners swatting flies (killed 3 to 4 flies every meal).

The food is absolutely great, from breakfast to dinner.

The very special thing is the food: Excellent quality, freshly made, even the bread for breakfast and the jam are home-made.

Great storage and lockers for skiing too.

Location is very good for skiing in winter or walking/trekking in summer (wonderful Tauern national park, Grossvenediger, Grossglockner).

So we did, and boy did we enjoy the skiing and the hotel!!

Wellness is spacious with various sauna's, swimming pool (inside and outside), quiet relax room etc.

You can also relax in the spa area and gaze at the incredible scenery.

There is a spa and an external swimming pool in a natural context.

The spa is modern, having two hamman and a wonderfully large sauna.

The hotel has a nice surrounding, with a nice garden/natural pool , a spa area with steam baths and sauna with daylight, all tidy and properly cared .

In summary, this hotel might be designed for ski season travelers not to international travelers during the summer.

A night in the Outside restaurant where a 7 course menu is served with excellent wines and digestives is a must do, The servants are very customer friendly, your wineglass will never never be empty!

Travelling with a young child, we were looking for quiet luxury where our little one could eat spaghetti every night while we dined on gourmet Austrian cuisine and drank great wine and beer.

Wines are majority Austrian with a good Italian selection.

After ski day, you can have coctails or wines on the hotel bar.

The wine selection is excellent, and the wines by the glass are at a very reasonable price.

We weren't with a tour group so we ate in the a la carte restaurant (don't remember the name) and couldn't have asked for better service or more delicious food.

The breakfast is nice, as was the dinner.

It takes only 20 minutes to walk to the bakers and back for fresh morning rolls.

At breakfast we were given the evening meal options in order to choose our meal for the dinner.

There is also no elevator in the apartment building and a lot of stairs to haul luggage and yourself up and down.

This hotel is very large, it can handle a lot of people and is In the process of building and expanding which is a bad thing because they really can't handle the number of guests they have at the moment.

My husband and I spent two weeks in August in an appartment in the Goldried Park building after having originally booked for one week.

The renovated spa/swimming pool is modern and good.

The swimming Pools were exceptionally clean and beauiful.

It has great pool and whirpool,both inside and outside.

It felt very special and we really enjoyed to indoor/outdoor pool with our children.

The kids loved the pool and we enjoyed happy hour at the bar with the pool table.

A kindergarten for the small ones and a pool for the whole family.

The pool and sauna was great, and the apartment even comes with your own sauna, which is great.

but it was "high climbing" up there ;-) There was also an indoor and outdoor pool!

The hotel has a lot of amenities, including two swimming pools (one outdoor and one indoor), a pool table, a piano bar, two restaurants and a (sadly dilapidated) outdoor Ping Pong table.

The hotel facilities were very good and we had everything we needed ie swimming pool, sauna, pool table, several areas to hang out & chill to enjoy a quiet drink or play board games.

but the hotel was really good including service given.

but the service at the reception was good.

This is really some kind of perfect balance between feeling at home, having the relaxing service of a hotel team and a wonderful region for skiing and i am sure for the summer also.

The appartment is big, plenty of room for eight persons, 3 bedrooms, 2 balconies with a stunning view (picture) bathroom with a shower and you're own sauna, 2 sinks, washingmachine and a toilet, an extra toilet in the hallway.

The view from our balcony were fantastic.

This hotel is well located at the top of the village with lovely views out across the valley.

This hotel is located on a hillside overlooking the valley and the Matrei town.

We mainly spent our time walking in the nearby valleys, driving up to see the Grossglockner, (their highest mountain) hiking thereafter.

We had an appartment for six people, one big bedroom and two small rooms with two bunk beds.Nice view of the mountains from the huge balcony.

We enjoyed having a sauna to ourselves and looking at the view from the balcony in the evenings.

It had a good size patio with a view of the town below and the mountains.

The room was clean, with a balcony overlooking the most stunning mountain range.

Their screaming and splashing water totally spoilt the calm  moment you expect in a spa.

However, we were also charged for tap water after we were told it would be free.

The dishwascher was from last century and water running out.

We had all inclusive service with great choice of drinks included all day.

The all inclusive package comes in handy for the kids and for some cool drinks after a long hike or after dinner.

We spent an 8 day holiday in St Jacob in the beautiful 4 star Alpenhof Hotel with an all inclusive treatment.

Value for money with all inclusive including drinks.

We were happy also with food for the breakfast and dinner.

Beautiful meals, lovely breakfast continental and savoury, in the morning they let you choose the main dishes for the dinner, they are always ready to oblige if you need to change something, Fabio is such a professional waiter you are totally looked after.

staff is very friendly, rooms are very clean and big, breakfast and dinner -> JUST great!

Aside from this, the bar and the sun lounge are great places to relax and enjoy a drink.

As a bonus we had perfect breakfast from natural products from their farms.

The hostel is located inside their farm, and so you get fresh milk, yogurt, syrup produced by themselves.you also get to see how a farm really works.
