Indeed, things didn't seem to really get going in Hermoupolis until about 11 pm with children playing soccer on the beautiful public square and patrons at the many bars and restaurants just getting started.

I arrived late at night after the late ferry from Athens and was greeted at the entrance with a welcome drink and candies.

Our stay was very comfortable and I would particularly highlight the breakfast and the breakfast staff.

The staff were outstanding and the breakfast menu amazing.

He kindly booked our restaurants  each evening.

Constantin and the rest of the team are so professional and attentive.

but kids are the hope so who are we to complain?

The unofficial excuse was that they are afraid of losing their job if one of the tenants would complain to the management.

When we complained, an irate middle age man who said he was the manager told us that "this is how we make it here".

We complained during 2 or 3 days until we were assigned a new room.

When we complained the response from the management was that they are really sorry

and on top of this when we complained to the owner during the check out he was laughing.

I complained as I new the Ferry was not leaving for another hour.

When we complained in the direction of the hotel, the answer was that we exaggerate.

The pool was clean and the hotel stuff was excellent and very friendly (the manager, the restaurant waiters, the cleaning ladies).

I visited the hotel for a week with my family.Next to a shallow water beach,ideal for children.Nice pool,tasty meals,very clean, friendly staff.

The hotel had some really great staff including a very friendly and professional lifeguard Lia; two excellent evening reception staff who were always really friendly and went out of their way to help us over the weeks; excellent waiting staff in the restaurant; very lovely soft play teacher who always met us with a smile, and very thorough house keeping who perfected our timings out of the room.

Only negative was poor wifi to non existent wifi everywhere on grounds and none in your room .

The signal is really weak, so this makes t even more imperative that the hotel provides internet connection via WiFi.

The hotel should not advertise wifi as a service as this simpmy did not exist.

One thing noted by other guests too is the issue with the Wi-Fi.

The WiFi quality is really poor. Recommended.

The room is so disappointing, in fact the air conditioner worked only to a part of the room, Almost no WiFi, no kettle to make coffee, so uncomfortable and not inviting. "The water are not drinkable, they announced, there for we give you one (little) bottle of mineral water" ( even not cold -after such a long journey in a very hot day.  )

but the price is VERY good.Pool bar,extra bar,movies(for kids) and playground.The wifi is slow. .

The only minus was that it was impossible to connect with the internet.

Some annoyances that could be fixed by management – several times I had to wait a long time for the water to get hot for a shower, the internet access went off/on, and some of the staff were surly (some were quite helpful).

And all that including room WiFi for the room price!!

TV reception is not too good and WIFI was difficult to connect and when you manage to connect is really slow.

, the wifi was not working, the balcony was dangerously narrow and the rail was loose, we found very nice ironed hair on the sheets, the pillow and the bed cover had some brown dirt.

The room were dirty enough , the WI-FI didn't operated , the food were good looking

Let alone that the wi-fi was never working, even right at the reception.

We arrived mid May which was a bit early in the season so hotel not running at full speed

We highly recommend this place as the price/quality ratio is very good.

but when making a reservation for an expensive 5 star hotel we really don’t expect outdated comfort.

In particular, unlike what is written in their website in which Apollonion Palace claims to be a 5 star hotel the reality is by far divergent.

She was rude and sarcastic saying that this is a 5 star hotel and there is no other like this on the island.

Doesn't meet the standards of a five star hotel by far.

As soon as we arrived we noticed the poor quality of the hotel.

We were 2, so there was 2 pieces of cheese and ham, yesterdays bread and very poor variety.

but her English is poor and - most of all - she almost killed me giving me brown flour bread instead of gluten free bread!

but what sets this hotel apart from others is the dedication and friendliness of the staff.

From the moment we stepped into the hotel, Sprios and all the family and staff looked after us superbly.

So polite, so helpful, I am looking forward to return back there for Easter holidays.

You are instantly greeted by Spyro and his staff.

Our ferry to Syros was delayed several hours and the staff was continually in touch regarding our arrival.

Once we communicated our decision to the owner of Apollonion he immediately presented us with the cancellation policy, according to which we paid for all the three night stay.

Everyone at the hotel was incredibly helpful and concerned for our well being throughout the stay.

I would nonetheless be happy to stay here again if we return to Syros as everything else was very good and the family really warm and welcoming.

Hotel staff are eager to help and guide should you have the need during your stay - making reservations, calling taxis, ideas for visiting other villages and beaches, for example.

Our ferry from Paros arrived after dark and we could not find the hotel.

It has one proper window (and one sealed shut at the back of the room) so it was very dark and VERY hot, mainly because there was no draft to be had as would have been the case had there been a second window.

The hosts are very welcoming and friendly.

We never met more dedicated and friendly Hotel owners before.

The host George was wonderful - so friendly and was waiting to greet us with a map and guidebook when we arrived.

The Hotel Ethrion is the small and friendly type of hotel that we purposefully look to stay in and it did not disappoint.

Clean, up-to-date furniture and technnologies in the room, clever design, nice bathroom and very friendly owner.

It is worth visiting Ermoupolis because of its exquisite neoclassical buildings, its Aegean atmosphere and the friendly ambiance.

The family turned out to be very friendly and spent time chatting and drinking in the “garden” (Patio).

He even rode on his scooter to the port to give us the phone charger my husband forgot in the room when we checked out!Talk about service!

But It's a bit tricky to find it at first by car from the ferry stop, as the hotel street is pedestrian, so you should call the manager once you're at the port and he's coming to get you in a less than 5 minutes.

but the sheets stank.Also it was very expensive for room rate.The owner was very very helpful and the hotel close to port and the city centre.The only problem was the smell of sheets and the dust that you could find everywhere

That said, the buildings are old and I found the bathroom in my own room to always smell terribly of the toilet.

I cartainly didn't want to hang our baby's clothes out there so I asked (twice) for a bigger clothes hanger and was brought a HUGE plastic one which was dirty and moldy in places!

the 'owner' of the hotel greeted us half naked with a cigarette hanging from his mouth, any respectable person would not greet customers without a shirt.

These last feelings are further accentuated by the great hospitality that is offered by the owners of Ethrion, and by their eagerness and enthusiasm to connect with you and share all their knowledge about the area and its history.

Without question when all things are considered this is far and away the best place we have ever stayed.
