We then discovered there was no hot water in the rooms, someone claiming the kitchen had been using it (odd when the kitchen was clearly closed) and they had forgotten to switch the second tank on (so we had cold showers) and thirdly the really nice breakfast was spoiled a little as the mixed berries hadn’t been de frosted!

If you are more than a size 12 you won’t fit in the shower I had to shower with the door open as I didn’t want to get my hair wet and wasn’t room to turn round with the door shut.

Shower and toilet were crazy small, gadvto sit on an angle just to use the pan if you wanted to shut the door.

The bathroom,  which looked quite new was small

though the manager told me they had plenty of staff working that day, bearing in mind Port Isaac was only flooded with about 60% of the usual influx of tourists).

We stayed at the slipway for three nights the room was very small the shower room also in its favour it was very clean.The same can not be said for the rest of the B&B.The restaurant carpet was dirty the tables sticky the whole establishment was grimy.

I can look past tiny bathroom dated carpet etc.

A little bit restricted in the bathroom area,

Went to our rooms for a shower and rest and when going downstairs for something to eat and drink was told they were shut and had called last orders.

but they are also very tired as is the bathroom.

If you are over 6ft tall you'll find sitting on the loo a real challenge!

Our room had no windows just a sky light, remote no working and in the bathroom we could open the window and touch next doors wall.

My only issue was the bathroom as trying to use the toilet was impossible unless you sat on it side ways!

Anyone over 6ft would have difficulty using the toilet and shower other rooms may be bigger.

Breakfast was good with a selection of foods on offer.

Oh don’t forget the breakfast is superb too….

It was delicious and served by the girls who all had great personalities, they were Ashleigh, Shannon, Kate and Casey.

Breakfast choices were the best we had on our 14-day UK trip throughout the country.

However, staff were lovely and the bed really comfortable, plus the breakfast good.

The best B&B breakfasts we have had in England ever.

Location was good and very quiet in the night, breakfast was as included.

Breakfast was lovely and a huge choice on the menu.

Room was clean, had everything you needed, breakfast was great, served in a lovely room and staff were super friendly.

Obviously at this time of night you don't expect it to be a drill so we stuck our head out of the door to find out what was going on, and a member of staff was pressing

Down stairs doors were banged constantly throughout day and evening.

One small note - both rooms appeared to have had the door frames damaged around the locks, not sure what's gone on there.

tiny rooms, noisy, smelled strongly of frying oil all night, door looked like it had been pried open somewhen in the past, breakfast wasn't good, staff wasn't exactly helpfull.

Doors are low as one would expect from a 16 th century building so be prepared to duck!

The roof is quite low and my 6ft 3in frame was a little challenged by the maybe 5ft 6in door and I had to remove my trousers to use the loo due to its proximity with the bath.

Being a loft, you learn (or don't learn) to duck your head quickly through the door frames as these are probably only 5' 6 or so in height.

The hotel is very old so it has sloping floors, low ceilings and low door frames.

We were disappointed that the door to the balcony didn't open or close very easily and we couldn't sit on the balcony due to the sea gull droppings on the table and chairs.

Once told that we just wanted to check in he let us through, as we approached the door we spotted Martin Clunes off to the right.

Toilet in our room was so small you simply banged your knees on door when sitting.

On a cold wet and stormy Friday night at the end of January we were very pleased to see that The Slipway was about the only place in Port Isaac to open their doors – (he other was The Old School House).

Arrived into the village where your vehicle door mirrors miss if you are lucky homes on either side by a couple of inches.

There was constant banging and hammering from the room next door, which was irritating.

but again, if your paying £150 per night, the balcony should be kept clean of 'bird debris' and if this means cleaning it every day, then so be it,  
The railings (metal and wood) around the balcony need a lot of TLC and the balcony doors would not lock but this did mean you could hear the gentle sound of lapping water on the beach when going to sleep which is very soothing.

My husband who is 6'1 couldn't close the door.

The shower room itself was no bigger than 4ft by 2ft, when sitting on the toilet your knees are almost hitting the door!

but, in need of basic maintenance - toilet seat attachment broken (reported, maintenance had a look but not fixed in our time), door and window furniture loose and in poor condition, seals around double glazed windows deteriorated (draughty etc).

Stayed at the slip way for my birthday thought the price for a twin room looking at a brick wall as our view was to much to pay tiny bathroom can't hardly move .. Then when you have a shower it filled up with steam and could not see .

Bathroom was tiny and room a little small, hence the 4 bubbles instead of 5.

We found parking very reasonable, as you cannot park around the hotel due to narrow streets there is a car park which is £5 (if I remember rightly) for a 24hr period and a lovely 5 min coastal wall from the car park to the hotel.

The building is right next to the harbour at the heart of things, and has bags of character, if those walls could talk!

but 85% of homes here are weekly lets with keys in locked tumbler boxes on the walls.

The floor in our sea front room sloped a little along one wall, which only added to the historic charm.

Yes it has crooked walls and slopes floors.

but having seen the state of the (lifeboat suite") we only stayed one night.The carpets were stained,cobwebs everywhere,dirty window sills and paintwork.The toilet seat was hanging off,the bathroom door would not close,let alone lock,small four foot six bed so close to the wall and a beam you needed to be an athlete to get in and out of bed.One tv didn't work and the other had a remote with no batteries.Breakfast good and Nathan Outlaw next door excellent!

but sadly with no view at all, the only window was in the bathroom and that looked onto a stone wall.

You have to see it to believe it and immerse yourself in the village-all the winding streets, cottages, stone walls, fishermen and boats, sea birds,  pubs and it's people.

The bathroom is the smallest one i have every seen, the best solution is to soap the walls and spin!

Not really approachable by car streets so narrow you can touch both walls with your arms out, car park quite a trek fifteen mins walk up steep hill, clean rooms

The bacony was in a very poor state with the wall capping slates all either missing or totally loose - some had fallen on the canopy above the hotel entrance area below the room.

The bathroom looked good except the shower alternately scalded then froze me, the blind at the bathroom window was falling off the wall and the lid on the pedal bin was broken.

The chairs, table, walls and floor were covered in bird mess, there was an ashtray full of cigarette

Breakfast was served next door in the Cally Bar & Grill and was lovely.

Reasonable cooked breakfast just like most motel style.

Breakfast in the restaurant next door was also lovely.

The staff were so friendly and clearly work very hard, breakfast was plentiful and full of variety, the bar stocked with everything you could want and evening menu was lovely

The breakfast was very nice and set up for the day perfectly (special mention to the waitress who was very friendly).

There was also gluten-free bread available for the breakfast.

What make OCH so good apart from its position is simple…..it’s the staff.

The location is excellent which is what I feel they trade on.

Located right on the dock side across the road from public car park for £8 for 24 hours.

Firstly the location couldn’t be bettered.

The location couldn't be better with all that Padstow had to offer within easy walking distance.

The location is very central for easy walking to all the lovely shops and restaurant.

The Old Custom House is perfectly located on the harbour, with a car park opposite 
A very large room, with shower room, and a huge bath in another (open) room.

Location is excellent, parking is a stones through away and reasonable we paid £16 for our stay.

This hotel was perfect for the two of us to spend a weekend in Padstow, located right on the harbour with beautiful views drom the rooms and breakfast buffet.

Very good value for a lovely room, with a pretty view of the harbour and a great location.

The stay was let down by poor service for breakfast .

Pretty misleading photos - ours was not very clean and in pretty poor state of repair.

Breakfast was poor, dinner not worth the 45 minutes wait.

I'm fed up with the covid/brexit excuses for poor levels of service yet alone cleanliness!

Surely this is poor customer service and safety?

but we were probably lucky that the pub was closed as room 5 (our room) is right above the bar and on hearing the "noise" (yes everything) /creaks from the room above, the insulation between spaces is poor. 5.)

I left the building then and what was said then was between him and the maitre de (I use this term loosely) according to husband he did admit the service was “piss poor”.

The shower in our room was poor - took a long time to actually get my hair wet!

Only slight niggle was the shower pressure was poor, loads of hot water

The food was poor, chips overcooked and meal cold.

Against that we thought service very poor and decor very tired.

The chairs are not wiped down afterwards poor hygiene.

but poor quality level (and I tried almost all options!

However the shelf over the sink sticks out so if you bend down to wash your  face you run the risk of cracking your head against it - really poor idea.

The stairs leading up to the rooms and the corridors that lead off it are more reminicent of a 1950s boarding house (gives a very poor impression).

On the down side the floor was really uneven in the bathroom and the water pressure was really poor.

We have travelled extensively all over the world and compared to many 4 and 5 star hotels we have stayed in, this room was poor.

Really busy pub with loads of customers and lots going on.

There’s parking nearby and lots of little pubs and shops.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious and modern and the food great.

We have been to the restaurant and bar before in recent years

but ended up back at the Old custom house which surprisingly  had the best vegan food we’ve both had in ages !

The restaurant and bar downstairs served pub food which was very nice and very well priced.

Everything is close: beaches, shops, restaurants, bike rental.

We ate here last night and 4 weeks ago, the staff are fantastic helpful, and busy..

Food is always superb and the whole team are friendly, welcoming and helpful.

I arrived to stay in Padstow for a celebration night out with friends and had a great stay, the beer is great as always and the room was comfortable and well equipped.

Evening meal in pub restaurant downstairs, quality as you would expect for a pub chain.

Our room was very small for £170 per night and was filthy in places - see photos of windows.

Unfortunately the room let us down.. we were in a tiny room with a small double with paint missing on walls & radiator.

We were under the impression that it would be a tiny room in a hotel above a noisy pub and we would just have to endure it for 1 night.

The stairs to room 8 were very steep and no help with baggage was offered; the room itself was small

A couple of small points - the TV in our room was very small for the size of the room and the size of the wall it was on.

but unless you pay for premium room the one we had was very small and very noisy from both outside and the showers in the rooms either side.

Small room, nothing of note to mention or enjoy, overpriced for our experience.

Very small room at the top of 3-1/2 flights of stairs.

however, the standard double room was so small there was room for one chair, no room for a luggage rack or any surface to put our small overnight bags on.

The room itself was small, rather tired and the bath panel was blackened in parts.

The room was nicely decorated with a costal theme, I was expecting the rooms to be very small

It is a very old and quaint building, and so one must expect physical limitations such as the small rooms.

The rooms are small, and have a very noisy water system which will wake you at night if a neighbouring room flushes the toilet or runs water.

Second morning we waited an hour to be told there were 2 more tables to be served before us.

On the Sunday we waited for an hour and a quarter after ordering the food

I guess some people would moan at having to wait

Had to wait ages for our food - when it came the wife’s meal did not match what was on the menu.

Had a drink inside whilst waiting for food service to start.

I told the man that if that was the case then perhaps he could of advised me of this half an hour earlier to save me and a lot of other people waiting unnecessarily in the queue.

but still the same amount of people to look after, so we waited and waited.

We waited happily, well aware of the importance of cleaning between barrels for cask ales. .

No parking is an issue as the car park nearby is extremely popular with people waiting for spaces to become available.

we then queued around the front with people waiting to dine, when it came to our turn, we asked to check in and were told to go around to the side doors, yes the same doors blocked by stools.

The guy was impressively alert to the customers' needs, so no waiting about for attention.

We only had to wait 15 minutes for our food,

however, we then waited twenty minutes and eventually I had to go and find some one to take our food order.

Breakfast wasn’t good, long wait and bacon not cooked.

but cannot justify waiting over 30 minutes for two poached eggs on our final day.

My wife had to go up and tell him we were also waiting to be served.

Extremely slow service which made us think food was waiting to be fetched to the table.

but it was only a short walk to the next nearest car park.

Car parking opposite so be prepared for a 2 minute walk with your luggage.

It is really conveniently situated with the council car park right across the road and a short walk from the main restaurants and shops.

From the moment we walked in the door we were met with smiling helpful staff who couldn’t do enough for us.

Sofas next to a fire in main bar area very useful after a walk!

Although the weather was a bit blustery,walk along the hill top and the cliff tops further a field was magical.

Great location which was perfect for walks and being central to all shops and restaurants, carpark across the street which was £24 for the 3 days.

The hotel is conveniently located to all Padstow has to offer in terms of great restaurants, bars, coastal walks and beaches.

I’ll be honest we walked into Padstow from our site and we’re going to take the dog on the beach and have rick steins fish and chips,

We had to walk out of the hotel to eat our breakfast in the restaurant next door which was fine and the breakfast was delicious.

It was ideal for all the walks we wanted to do and get the early ferry for visiting Rock and the beach which we wanted to do.

My mum and I had walked part of the SWCP and finished in Padstow looking forward to a bit of luxury, considering this was >£90 more expensive than any of the other 8x B&Bs we’d stayed in en route.

We walked around the corner, the old ship couldn’t have been more accommodating and we had a lovely meal.

Having walked part of the south west coast path, this was out last stop and we treated ourselves to a stay here.

We were lucky to get a table as they operate a walk up policy generally & it’s a case of arriving at the right time 
The food was very good - we had Hunters chicken & burger 
Service was good & friendly & the place felt clean & safe 
Part of the Eat out to hell out scheme so was even more enjoyable
Overall I would recommend this place for a visit

And just a few minutes walk (uphill) to the town car park.

Walked the stretch of the Cornish Coastal path from Harlyn Bay to Padstow,

We booked this hotel as a treat as it is a little more expensive than what we had booked on the rest of our week long walk.

but we actually parked the car in the link car park which was 5 minutes away and was a nice little walk on a morning and we didn’t get stuck in Padstow centre parking opposite the hotel.

The menu is not the same as it is online when I booked or the same as the one on the wall outside.

The plugs in the bedroom are in all the wrong places, none either side of the bed - well two down the side wall so charge your phones here and have long cables or you're done for.

A little extra attention to décor would be good, I think a tea/coffee had be spilled down the wall and would probably wipe away and some peeling flooring/wallpaper in the ensuite.

Only downside was very thin walls which was a shame as had noisy neighbours for 2 out of the 3 nights.

The TV was mounted on a side wall between the bed & the seating area & did not swivel very well so it was pretty much unwatchable from either bed or sofa!

I would also recommend the hotel look at insulating the walls in between room 10 and next door.

The carpet in the room (Rm17) was dirty with stains throughout (I kept my flip flops on at all times) and the walls blackened with scuff marks. The bathroom was huge,

The shower gel fixed to the wall in the shower was not the answer without creating a mess!
