Needed the loo, so stepped into the ensuite, what a joke.

The rooms are smelly and dirty with  weird paintings old furniture and 1970 style caravan bathrooms which are mouldy and rusty.

It is so small and dingy; one can barely turn around in the shower.

The bathrooms in the two rooms we were being offered were pods that were smaller than a caravan.

The bathroom was the sort of cubicle you get in a small caravan.

The shower felt like one was about to be shot out of a cannon in a verticle tubelike space which the average person would find it tricky in the extreme to comfortably ablute !!

For £160 a night you would have expected a proper bathroom.

Firstly the bathroom was just dreadful, it the was the most basic bathroom I have seen in a hotel, considering how much you pay for this room!

To that she repiled "find them yourself, i just work behind the bar" i found this very rude especially as when i found the toilets they were directly opposite the bar.

Bathroom no better than an airline toilet, it is a plastic pod dropped into the room.

Unfortunately we did get a room with a caravan pod bathroom,

Leaking windows, a crass oversized TV preset to GB news, a caravan-style wet room for an ensuite, dust, flaking paint and wallpaper.

Bad bits: plastic tiny pod shower room in the corner of the room, no where to hang towels, no room service, had to ask for a loo roll!

Views from room excellent,room had furnishings that looked like they were bought from second hand dealer,bathroom was a portakabin approx 5ft x2ft 6in-3ft, to shower you had to wet turn off shower to soap then turn shower on to rinse.

Bathrooms can only be explained as a tiny plastic box inserted into the rooms that you have to shower sideways on, practically against the toilet (using the sink you have to practically straddle the toilet!).

but hot water came in a dribble into the bath.

but the en suite was actually a pod with a small sink, loo and shower all in one!

There was no bath mat and the mugs were dirty.

But most shocking was the bathroom, basically camper van plastic pod, a larger person would have difficulties to fit in.

the shower is about 12 inches wide when the curtain is closed, so you are battling with wet curtain while showering, the water

Get past 1st floor and the stair carpets are threadbare and a trip hazard.

The carpets are threadbare in the rooms, as well as on the staircases.

The carpet on the stairs is stained and totally threadbare between the first and second floor .

Decor dark and dingy, carpets threadbare.

Carpets in communal areas are dirty and frayed.

The hotel itself is tired and in desperate need of some updating and general decoration as the carpets are frayed and the decor tired.

Unfortunately we had booked to stay here, what can I say the whole place needs a refurbishment, from worn out stair carpets to rooms that what not be amiss to the 80s.

Carpet throughout the building is best described as threadbare at best and all the furniture in the rooms looks like it was found at the tip.

The downside was the bedroom, expecting something grand being in a castle we were sorely disappointed, the carpet was brown, thin and joined, lovely high ceilings with a non descript lampshade and the bathroom, well not really a bathroom, just a pink plastic cubicle that you would expect in a caravan, luckily we are not huge.

it was roasting hot, the carpet was threadbare and not fitting the room, curtains hanging off the rail, the “bathroom” was a plastic caravan cubical which was completely unacceptable.

Owners are QAnon, scientologist friends of Donald Trump  who don't believe in face masks, cleaning (judging by the state of the carpets, bathroom and beds) or science.

The stair carpets were threadbare and lift well….looked like something out of Agatha Christie’s Poirot!!

but the rooms themselves are very dated and poorly furnished, with tiny moulded plastic en-suite bathrooms and very old carpet.

Carpets are beyond threadbare and dangerous, furniture is junk shop rejects and mattresses should have been replaced 20 years ago.

Strange orange carpet looked 1970s vintage and was filthy.

with all the members of staff being exceptionally friendly.

The staff are friendly and polite, the castle has a lovely atmosphere and beautiful decor.

The staff at the castle are some of the most helpful people we have come across, nothing was too much trouble and of a friendly nature which made our 3 night stay feel at home .

Very friendly staff , brilliant food , the view mind blowing , beautiful and I mean beautiful art.

We also had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant, with the most beautiful sea views, and staff are immensely friendly and helpful.

we very much enjoyed this one night, the very friendly and old school staff, with a wonderful way of just make us feel home.

The good bits: stunning location, great walks and friendly waiter, bed was comfy!

The bar staff were exceptionally friendly and we were happy to see bottles of the local beer on the shelves.

Fed up with all these brand new hotels with no character, extremely friendly staff.

Really nice location and the views from the hotel and grounds are fantastic the hotel is steeped in history from merlin to the history of the hotel and owners them selves the amount of stars that have stayed over the years is staggering the staff are so attentive and friendly and will try to do anything you ask the food was excellent and we would recommend this hotel and restaurant is well worth a visit

Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating.

The staff are extremely welcoming, friendly and attentive even bringing my luggage downstairs upon checking out as the one and only lift had been ‘out of order’ since the previous day.

The hotel is located about a 7-10 walk from the town of Tintagel and important sites such as Arthur's Castle and Merlin's Cave.

Absolutely delighted with the service we had from the staff, the location is amazing and I recommend I stay at this terrific hotel.

The location of the castle is 10/10 the views are stunning and ideal for sunset moments.

I like to give credit where I can so let me start by something positive;
The location is exceptional and the views are stunning.

If location was everything, this hotel would get stratospheric ratings.

This hotel is situated in prime position, the views are amazing.

Not only does the building command an excellent position high above the rugged and beautiful Cornish coastline,

Its location is superb and the staff cannot do enough for you to give you a great experience.

Strange paintings done by the owner in gold frames (not my taste at all) that definitely don't suit the theme or location!!

The hotel is in a beautiful location with outstanding views.

Great location for walks and to visit Tintagel Castle.

Lovely location, the room was recently refurbished, comfortable with amazing views

but from the moment this wonderful castle came into view we had goosebumps, the location is breathtaking!

The location is fantastic, breath taking views and lovely village within walking distance.

Over cooked eggs, sausage and bacon, disappointed and over priced.

but we're shown even worse so we tried to book alternative accommodation but everywhere was sold out,  we booked through booking .com and selected two rooms for £ 130 each ,you,d assume for that price the'd be ok OMG we couldnt have been more wrong .

The only downside for us was the cost of things from the bar, it was really quite expensive.

We didn't eat there as the breakfast wasn't included and seemed overpriced, Evening meals were uninspiring too so we ate out - plenty of choice locally!

Even the curtains were too small for the window and looked cheap.

To be frank, when you compare the prices of the local pubs with Irina’s restaurant in the hotel together with the lovely ambience (sadly lacking in the pubs) and excellent service, I’d choose Irina’s every time.

I cannot believe the owners are getting away with the standard of accomodation for the prices they are charging.

The staff are rude, it’s overpriced, ramshackle and in dire need of a buy out by people who actually know how to run a successful hotel

As others have said, stay in the village and avoid this tired and overpriced ‘castle’!

Having paid £450 for 3 nights breakfast not included,convinced I could find better with breakfast included.the beds were nothing special creaked as if they had wear and tear, I sat on the bed sounded like it was broke,the room had nothing going for it other than the view was dismal,had to put a wedge in window it was banging when wind blew.

Food and drink great if not a bit pricey, staff friendly

although it should be noted that there is a hidden 12.5% service charge on all food.

It appeared they were trying to keep costs to a bare minimum.

Breakfast was expensive and nothing special.

but it needs to “up its game” for the prices they are charging.

Dinner was a taste extravaganza and highly recommended.

Laughed it off and found somewhere in the village for dinner.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely three course meal in the restaurant.

Our evening meal was totally outstanding.

The food at breakfast and in the evening was excellent, and we were unable to fault the starters, main, dessert or the service.

We had a fantastic meal in Irina's restaurant; start-cornish crab and Avacado salad, main-slow cooked lamb, deseert- Russian Honey cake with honeycomb ice-cream.

Accomodation is first class, and the meals are always  to die for.

Lovely to see the bar and restaurant staff dressed in black and white traditional uniforms.

Food is excellent we ate , breakfast, lunch and evening meal both days.

This impacted on our choice of not wanting to eat in he restaurant at all during our stay choosing rather to go out.

Dinner was lovely, chatted to another couple also enjoying their stay who advised us where to visit for the best views and walks.

We were welcomed at reception and booked for dinner having already viewed the menu online.

The hotel is close to the pubs and shops so you could walk to have an evening meal.

The restaurant food was of a particularly high standard.

Comfortable rooms, excellent food and fantastic views from the public rooms and all our bedrooms.

but stay in one of the lovely pubs in the village like the Malthouse!

We booked in here for my husband's birthday and as we had dogs with us we could only eat in the bar, that was fine and the food is really lovely.

The view from our room was over Tintagel Castle.

We have taken the sea view room and honestly it was just mesmerising.

The location of the hotel couldn’t be more perfect, we had a double sea view room and it was just stunning waking up to the ocean view, we could also see the tintagel castle  island from our room.

Irina was welcoming and informative and let us view our room before we paid.

We had a sea view room and like I said the views are spectacular

We chose one of the renovated deluxe sea view rooms which was stunning and has the most amazing view.

Also you can't beat the view from room 215

We had a room overlooking the village and surrounding farmland.

We loved the atmosphere and the sea view from our room.

The view from the room was magnificent, the room was a mish-mash of second hand and dated furniture.

..stayed here for 4 nights in a classic double room with sea view.lovely room, absolutely massive, fantastic bed, slept so well, massive and so comfortable, the view was amazing.

Plus was size of room, overwhelming plus for room view

the wife and I booked the 4 poster room overlooking everything , great views and worth the money for the views ,  I would add some of it is looking tired, thread bare carpets on the stairs etc , perhaps the old rolls Royce left outside the entrance could be sold for a few grand to pay for new carpet etc and maybe help with refurb ?

Lovely hotel in a great location,  fantastic views from the room and great staff with knowledge of the local area, would definitely visit again when it's not so windy.

We were greeted by the building in all its glory.

As soon as I entered Camelot Castle I experienced a feeling of being at home, the staff like family and I felt perfectly at ease.

The Camelot Castle Hotel is a magical place to visit and it’s owner and artist in residence - Ted Stourton - is a lovely, kind and generous man.

The staff and owners are super kind and really great hosts who make you feel at home for your entire staying.

The short-handed staff is curt and hurried.

I have verified that this happens as I did it again when I got home.

When we arrived here the welcome was very warm and welcoming.

Ted and his team were all very welcoming.

The staff were courteous, engaging and helpful from the moment we arrived.

Atmosphere is so relaxed and staff go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect.

The staff were absolutely amazing and we even got to me Mr Stourton the artist of all the fantastic work around the castle.

The receptionist was polite and charming.

We are always made to feel at ease and very relaxed, by all the staff and the owners.

Through one window we had a beautiful view of the sunset over Tintagel Castle (legendary home of King Arthur) and others the rugged Cornish coastline and countryside.

The one we opted for had been very recently renovated and was spotless, with a direct view of Tintagel Castle.

A wonderful weekend was had at the Camelot Castle hotel overlooking the sea and Tintagel Castle.

It overlooked the Tintagel Castle ruins and the Atlantic ocean.

We went looking for Tintagel Castle ruins and found this beautiful Hotel.

We stayed for New Year’s Eve gala dinner, stayed two nights, absolutely fabulous, walked around Tintagel Castle and cliffs a must with breathtaking views.

My husband and I have recently come home from two lovely nights away at this amazing hotel,full of character .charm and the history of Tintagel castle.

To watch the sun set over Tintagel Castle from the terrace and then wake to see the same view just different time of day.

We had a lovely view of the coastline from our room and had the opportunity in the evening to see Tintagel Castle once all the visitors had gone home.

although it is very close by Tintagel Castle.

But the window sills were deep, deep enough to sit in, and admire that Million dollar view of Tintagel Castle.

There is a fantastic view of Tintagel Castle from here and spectacular sunsets.

The location is superb: overlooking Tintagel castle, with immediate access to the Southwest Coastal path.

The location is breathtaking; the hotel is situated on a cliff overlooking the ruins of Tintagel Castle, Merlin's Cave and the Atlantic Ocean.

This hotel is in a lovely position on the cliff and an imposing building , convenient for Tintagel Castle.

You can take long walks along the cliffs and even spend whole days on rocks looking at the sea, the cliffs, draw, meditate and engage into activities that fill your soul.

We overlooked the Atlantic ocean and Tintagle castle itself.

The bedroom included a four-poster bed and amazing views.

The hotel commands some of the best views I have come across.

Our north facing room gave us the most stunning views of the sea, breaking against a small island offshore, from which we never tired of looking.

We spent a weekend here in a queen room with sea views and we were not disappointed.

Most certainly the most attractive thing about this hotel is the stunning views .

The room was fantastic, I asked for a sea view and it couldn’t have been any better than what were were given, everything was clean and neat.

Even had a view of the castle ruins and spectacular view of the ocean.

Absolutely stunning and beautiful scenery around this lovely hotel very polite staff look forward to going again Excellent coffee my family loved it the first time loved it the second time cannot say anything bad apart from we preferred the first room we stayed in so get the best room you can enjoy your visit you won’t be disappointed

Unfortunately, we were there during a hot spell and, without air conditioning, our top-floor room was very stuffy until the temperature cooled overnight.

Only downside was lack of air conditioning, room was hot at night.

However, with temperatures still in the mid-20s, the lack of air-con was an issue.

Rather than a cheap plastic desk fan, provide guests with more powerful Dyson fans.

So no ventilation, a sad fan, made for an unpleasant night of little sleep.

We had a problem with a radiator it was immediately fixed after speaking to reception.

We noticed very bad staining on many of the chairs, and the overhead fans were thick with dust (we hoped they are never turned on).

There was some noise from the kitchen extractor

but I think it was a combination of lack of training and of effective management.

but very small window with little ventilation.

The other two rooms had a fan, so obviously hotel are aware that this is an issue.

The Estuary View Suite did not really have a view, except of the benches where revellers were enjoying their beer in the hotel garden…..this was not the room for a private anniversary celebration…..we were graciously moved to room 41 in the eaves with a partial estuary view - my wife seemed happy,  especially with the extra fans provided.

Avoid Room 2 - very small and right above the kitchen so there is a constant loud fan sound and early in the morning kitchen activity begins.

No air con so bear that in mind if you get hot weather.

Such a shame as we liked the hotel and assumed there would be air con

Rooms are congested , we had to move to have space for our our cases and the final beef, no air con so very stuffy .

but radiator was set to highest setting and couldn’t be turned down.

With digger lorry’s and bright white lights at night working often till 11pm and noisy - had it been summer the noise would be awful as no air con in hotel so windows need too be open -

but way too hot and even though they had provided a large fan it was too noisy to have on all night.

Superb view of the harbour and the staff were so friendly , helpful and polite.

Room was spacious, bed large and comfortable, great views of the harbour.

The dining room has excellent views across the harbour and the quality of the food and service was good.

Breakfast was fabulous and with lovely views in the restaurant overlooking the harbour .

Our room was beautiful with wonderful views of the harbour and estuary.

The room is spacious and clean with a lovely view down onto the harbour and town.

I recommend requesting a room with a view of the harbour if you can get one.

Love the breakfast and loved the views across the harbour.

We took one harbour view double and a small twin for our adult family of four, towards the end of September.

The view of the harbour and the sweeping Camel Estuary from our room was amazing -unbeatable.

Well what a contrast to the St Ives Harbour view which we have just left- it was awful.

We enjoyed breakfast  overlooking the harbour in the restaurant and bar area which feels fresh and new.

Straight off the quirky Rock to Padstow ferry and the Padstow Harbour Hotel is a short walk away in its prominent position overlooking the harbour and characterful Padstow.
