but on a separate booking so i emailed the hotel a week before we were due to arrive and asked if we could have rooms on the same floor and Claudia emailed me back saying they would do their very best to sort out for us and on arrival we were given rooms next door to each other on the fourth floor so massive thanks for that.

I nearly didn't book this hotel due to bad reviews re cleanliness and being dated etc

Hot in public areas due to new government policy banning air con in these unless temperatures exceed a v high level.

At lunchtime the choice is   incredibly poor , they also want to shut it about 45mins before it's due to , not putting fresh food on etc.

We emailed prior to going for a room due to little one being a light sleeper.

Probably due to the location of the room and being above the bins!

Worst part of the hotel for me was the pool area , did not enjoy being there at all due to the above…

Also due to the lack of ventilation when you turn the shower on there is an awful smell thats similar to drains.

Due to the sun in january only reaching one side of the pool area, it was impossible to get a sunbed near the main pool unless you want to sit in shade..or put your towels down at a ridiculous hour like some do.

Room 159 is down the left side of hotel entrance, no chance of sleep due to delivery drivers early morning - from 5am, it smelled too.

however we feel that mainly due to the food and the service in the dining room we will be choosing another hotel for our next holiday and that's a shame as we did like the GF Fanabe.

though this may in part be due to it being off-peak, November.

Unfortunately, one was closed due to it getting re-constructed which left only one.

but due to busy period we weren’t able to change for a couple of days, we where then given a pool view room - exactly same standard of room just different view and the entertainment in the pool bar goes on until around 11 and with no sound proofing - no peace and quiet until after then.

Due to poor sleep this impacted our holiday.

Pools can get busy due to everyone having floaties.

Very clean, despite the balcony overlooking the rear of the hotel I was concerned it may smell due to bins etc, this was not the case at all.

The wifi is useless and needs upgrading, some kind of transport to and from the beach is necessary as it is a killer on return if you are physically impaired, sadly I  would not stay again due to this.

My one & only negative is we nearly didn't book this hotel due to very picky over exaggerated reviews!

I have stayed at other GF hotels and this one is the poor relation !

The negatives, Our room and balcony looked directly on to the back of another hotel, the food quality was poor & breakfast was warm not hot, the staff seem obsessed with ensuring you was all inclusive and as there was a group of us constantly walking around us.

but unfortunately on this occasion we’re ready for home because of poor standard of food!!

Hotel needs massive upgrade, would class it as a poor 3 star.

Extremely dated decor and facilities unbearable heat in public areas and restaurant the poor staff have soaked through their clothing and eating meals here is unbearable.

The only negatives for me is the slightly repetive food and poor WiFi.

To start the cleanliness of the rooms is very poor, you couldn’t even walk in your bare feet as they would end up black and the dust around the units was unbelievable.

But really let down by the food, poor quality 75% of the hot food.

Snacks at.poolisde poor compared.to last year dry hard  cheeseburgers  hotdogs and.pizza .

And lastly the air conditioning was poor also.

In particular the dining area can sometimes be a scrum to get a table, no tablecloths anymore and the choice of food is repetitive and poor choices.

The food is horrid and the choices are poor .

Food was poor, we counted 7 options to choose from,,  this 7 included your rice,chips etc ( wasn't 7 main dishes ).

The suite bathroom is very poor with no shower!!!

I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re looking for poor imitation LV handbags or cheap plastic toys.

On the positive side the staff were all great and rooms were cleaned to a good standard,food was plentiful and good variety.

Absolutely loved this hotel food fantastic beds and room clean and so comfortable staff amazing entertainment brilliant loved it so much looking to book again end of May next year best holiday I had even the pool was warm see you next year 😀

We were really looking forward yo our stay at the fenabe, and to be fair, the staff work very hard and provide great customer service and the rooms are spotless.

The lady’s clean the room spotlessly everyday and you can choose if you want fresh bedding each day which I think is fantastic.

The room was clean and tidy and had everything we required.

Rooms are clean,  towels and bedding changed as requested.

What can I say, me and my family absolutely loved our stay at GF Fanabe, exceptional customer service, great food, room was great very clean and cleaned spotless everyday, animation for the kids was 10/10.

There are some signs the maintenance needs to be done here and there

The entrance itself is dimly lit, and, the warning sign for the steps is actually on the wall to the left of the wall just before they start, so it is distracting.

Water is bought to the tables with cap removed.

A lovely girl asked us our opinion on the hotel and we pointed this out to her which she kindly responded stating that we could remove towels that people weren't lying on.

but its a risk I took knowing they may have been removed.

If you put a towel on a bed before 10am you have to stay with that bed until 10am or the pool cleaner removes the towels.

If you don’t stay with them your towels are removed in the morning.

No reservation of beds allowed yet we found groups reserved beds with towels and they weren’t removed.

Downside is security guard removes towels

but if they did not stay with their beds the security would remove the towels , great idea.

Need to put signs up saying no vaping or smoking ,or drinking in plunge pool .

More signs required and staff advising it is not allowed  As a non smoker it is annoying.

It should be noted that the white fenced off area with a sign showing a man and woman is not the toilets!

To the hotels credit, now and then they did try and enforce a rule prohibiting loungers being reserved prior to breakfast with a towel and then left unoccupied for hours.

(One Morning the lifeguard told child to get out of the pool as it opened at 10am as it says on website on signs etc and the parents screamed at him for saying that they had ruined holiday and upset him,

Be mindful that once you put your towel down you can’t leave it or it will be removed so basically if you want sun beds then one of you has to sit with the towels whilst the rest of your party has breakfast.

Liked that there was someone who would remove towels off sunbeds if nobody was using them.

One morning they must have removed approximately 40 towels from the back pool and up until 10am only one family had came back looking for their beds.

The only real criticism I had was this little annoying Spanish bloke who worked at the hotel removed our towels and property from our 2 sun beds, I left it unattended for one hour whilst we went for breakfast.

I was disappointed with the place for a number of reasons
Pros: 
- great indoor soft play area and kids club for children 
- cleaning staff were excellent and cleaned the rooms to a very high standard every day.

The room was clean and fit for purpose, we travelled with two adults and two children aged 13 & 17.

The rooms are clean and spacious, good location not far from the beach and lots to do on the front.

Tenerife,is dirty area outside hotel walking to shop disgusting litter etc everywhere same can be said for sea fronts lots of litter on rocks etc…very off putting.

When abroad there are all sorts of funny smells that we are not used to so I brushed this off.

but they got confrontational with her and she was scared of them and then offered to move us to a different room, we weren't the issue here we shouldnt of had to move, she also informed me that Spanish laws says they can smoke cannabis on private property regardless of the fact there is no smoking signs everywhere in the hotel.

The problem was not the language barrier, this man was nasty and horrible.

The hot tub was very dirty and there was a smell coming from it daily so we only used it once.

Choice wad poor, looked disgusting, virtually the same everyday.

but it would run hot and cold, sometimes too hot which burned (not badly) one of the kids.

Could also smell urine in the bathroom on first entry.

Our first room was full of mosquitos and smelled like mildew.

Please please dont spoil your holiday do not stay at this hotel rooms are filthy had to move rooms food is the worst all inclusive I have ever been too food terrible drinks terrible offered us a free bottle of champagne in an all inclusive hotel checked out after 2 nights staff very unhelpful no manager on site would not refund us for are terrible stay only nights we checked out please avoid filthy beds tryed to tell me it was because of the rain

We noticed a smell coming from the air con at night like rotten bins .

We could not stay for dinner, the food was disgusting.

You can only smoke in your room and outside of the hotel.

Also you can’t smoke anywhere in the hotel my husband had to go half way down the street .

The only negative point about the Reception staff is that in the night they go to the back of the office, which is right below our room´s balcony to chat and smoke.

The room we were given was dark, dingy and musty smelling as it was virtually in the basement.

Although they were doing repair works near the kids pool drilling and cleaning out the drains so they had to shut sides off.

but it smelt really bad - of damp/mildew when the air con was on and the room (which was down 2 flights of stairs) was really really dark because of yellow style lights.

The downsides for me were that the food was poor, majority of it was cold and for me the meat looked undercooked.

Just a really poor offer of food in general.

The family room we had was not very spacious for a family of four and the air con was poor.

but they are all justified, food is poor, rooms ain't cleaned, reception staff not very helpful and people kept pooing in the pool so there was always pools closed I would not return

Entertainment very poor and we went out to find better shows,  food is not the best and very repetitive unfortunately.

but just think its really poor you cannot get at least water when you've already paid so much.

The food was disgusting and very poor quality, all I ate was chips and bread for my evening meal the entire holiday (my family had the same opinion).

Food was quite poor, disgusting bacon dripping in fat, eggs slimy, very samey everyday food everyday, seemed liked what they didn’t use one day was made into something else the next day.

but I found most of the food to be poor quality certainly not what you would expect from a 4 star.

Staff friendly enough and you can’t fault that at all, the entertainment very poor and very limited again we ended up going out most nights because we were bored.

Restaurant queses are frustrating, no consistency to evening entertainment and poor at best.

Overall experience is very poor, poor service, poor value for money, never a 4star experience.

Evening entertainment was extremely poor.

Food quality was poor with no seafood other than hake fish.

The animation team during the day are extremely poor.

Sound proofing TERRIBLE, could hear next rooms snores.

Paper thin walls so can hear everything going on.

The few negatives I find is in the evening the Piano Bar is very noisy with echoes due to its layout, wooden floors, pool table & when the entertainment is on, resulting in if there is only 2 of you, which was the case with us, a conversation is very difficult.

You can hear a pin drop don't expect privacy.

However the rooms were not sound proof and we were very aware of noise in rooms either side of us and doors slamming which shook the whole room.

There was a constant filter noise at night from one of the upstairs pools.

but the hotel echos so bad that You will hear when somebody sneezes in another room.

..the walls in the room are paper thin be aware you can hear everything.

Hotel was very noisy with very thin walls at all times during the day.

The walls are thin and we could hear the family next door.

Tip:  if you don't like noise in the evening ask for a room that is not facing the entertainment area outside.

We were robbed of 2000 pounds on arrival, then evicted for my partner speaking too loudly on his phone to our holiday rep!

Toilet area around the poolside was not great and the smell was horrendous.

Rooms were good very little late night noise, disappointed that spirits are only 25% in the bars, 1 lift not working all week from 9th floor and some blood drops not cleaned up all week on 9th floor, very good 3* hotel in a good location, pools were good.

The only bad thing about the hotel is the noise in the hotelroom.

We were close to the lobby and it was a bit noisy when people got up early, I'd recommend a pool view in block D or F for sun in the afternoon.

Really enjoyable stay,very clean rooms,great choice of food and quality in restaurant.The pool areas are ideal and no problems getting beds at anytime.The all inclusive drinks were basic

Good hotel, nice and clean rooms, friendly staff.

Rooms clean and has basics of hairdryer, kettle and mini fridge (we found to wedge the fridge cupborad door open as this cooled the fridge better) and free to use safe, room cleaned daily.

Rooms are clean and very spacious, much bigger than any other family rooms we had while on holiday!

They stink of rotten eggs at times and the kids ones don't seem to have any chlorine in them!

It rendered the pool area unusable unless you wanted to burn to a crisp.

The cocktails come from a tap and are nasty, for a slightly better cocktail you have to pay extra, the minibar is also not stocked.

The receptionist wouldn't do anything about the smells inside because they didn't know where it was coming from!

The sun beds are filthy you can write your name in the dirt on the sides of them and the seats are badly stained.

Guests freely reserve sun loungers, and vape (and smoke) in communal areas around the pool and in the bars.

The bath was filthy and we experienced a few nights with cockroaches.

The toilet downstairs near table tennis smelt throughout the day.

The hotel on arrival looks great, unfortunately the rest of the hotel is not so great , tiling in bathroom very poor with signs of damp, pool had

but as a smoker it was very annoying , especially at night when you are sat outside with a gross drink and you can’t smoke.

There is no need to be breathing down my neck whilst I get my food!

but my gosh the food is disgusting, it’s the only holiday I’ve ever been on and lost weight.

We went half board,  the breakfast is like free for all and very disappointing,
We went to dinner twice, once to eat, the 2nd time we just walked straight back out,  the food is disgusting, very bland and tasteless,  mainly pasta, or food in thick sauces, that looks like it's been made out of leftovers, children running about, picking the food up and sniffing it, then putting it back.

Definitely upgrade to a Pool view room, otherwise you run the risk of being opposite a main road and smell of sewage!

At the jacaranda they put our family in a room that smelt of sewage and we had to argue that it was making the children feel sick before we were moved.

Our stay in an apartment was marred by poorly cleaned utensils, aircon didn't work and  .

Pools didn't open until 10, 1 coolish supposedly heated & other freezing with towels filling the beds on upper snackbar area?

although it would have been nice to have instructions on how the air conditioning worked.

Our only very minor criticism is the air conditioning could be used more or even upgraded as at night it could be quite stuffy in the bar areas

No air conditioning in the entertainment room .beer watered down .the hotel is at the top of a steep hill .

The air con kept you awake it was that loud, vibrating all night.

Beds were comfy enough and the air con worked ok. 
Cons: The pools are too small for the amount of people and not enough sun beds.

The rooms where ok the Aircon worked when it wanted to which was really annoying

However, it soon became clear there were some flaws with the room: the air conditioning didn't function in the main room correctly

Middle points - 
Issue with room - air con didn’t work informed staff was fixed by the time we returned.

However, the jacuzzi bath didn’t work properly, the air conditioning didn’t work for the first 3 days and we were having to keep going back to reception, there was a couple of holes in the ceiling and the floor, overall, it’s pretty run down.

but exceptionally noisy, otherwise rooms are stuffy and I believe most bedrooms are internal with little-no natural light.

but floors need replacing, bed comfy, powerful shower, poor towels we had holes in ours, air conditioning not great I wouldn’t want to stay in the summer.

but it is incredibly stuffy and very poorly lit - not somewhere that you'd want to spend any time at all because it is intolerably hot and stuffy.

Only problem we had was on our final night when the air conditioner started leaking & we went to call using the phone in the room and it didn’t work.

The room had air conditioning and a ceiling fan.

but the air conditioning is pretty much a fan blowing warm wind at you and was about 100 db all the time and last but not least the staff are so rude and arrogant.

The air conditioning is more of a wind trap.

Our air con was not working,  we didn't report as we didn't need it

but did appear to keep switching off no matter how you changed the settings.
