Overall, our room felt dark, uncomfortable and unhygienic.

The primary reason is that the rooms (carpeting) are a bit ‘tired’ and the hallways are dark, drab and hot.

My only complaint was that the room we had did not have one decent light fixture you could read by and overall the room was dark.

Our room and bathroom were TINY, dark and faced an adjacent building.

Also, the bedroom area (which is a little small because of the wasted space in the narrow walkway) is extremely dark, which makes doing any reading or using the laptop close to impossible in the room.

The hallways to get to the rooms are dark and dramatic, with an old style and slightly musty smell, and the room carried out this feel,

Initially, the corridors seemed dark and outdated

Due to the curtain situation, the room always appeared dark, even with all the lights on.

Just rooms are rather dark and rich red colour and maybe too much of variuos decorations.

However the rooms were very small and dark and our bed was awful.

Then there are interminable corridors - over-decorated in dark colours as well - sometimes with stairs that you have to climb to get to your little room.

Rooms are old school traditional dark ambience, you'll always need the lights on.

However, the rooms are dark due to small windows which seems to be common in older hotels.

The workout room is a bit bizarre tho - almost feels like a hotel room turned workout facility with dark drapes and wallpaper.

The room we had was dark and small, we couldn’t open the window, and the room servicing was abysmal.

Breakfast price at 38 euro and a coffee at 10 euro is extraordinarily expensive, compared to outside cafes….breakfasts from 10 euro-coffee, scrambled eggs, juice, croissant and coffee, or coffee for 2.40 euro.

We eventually had to walk up to the welcome booth to ask to pay.

This would have taken seconds and cost nothing to the hotel.

Awful check in by indifferent receptionist, first room ghastly, second and more expensive room (c €800 per night) not much better.

Definately it is not worth 500Euro/night that we paid.

though a bit expensive for what it is (though I'm guessing it was because we were there towards the end of high season).

I paid up anyway as there was no offer or apology.

I've stayed at Intercontinentals all over the world and I'm sorry to say that Bordeaux does not rate to the high standards that the others do.

but the cocktails are overpriced for what you get - they aren't 'special' enough to warrant the price.

We paid 540 Euro for 2 pax and end up their "2 Chateau" is actually 1 shop that sells many wine + 1 chateau which serves us 3 different type of poor red wine.

These 2 nights were still the most expensive of any on our 17 night vacation?

parking (with valet) had a cost of 30 euros per day.

Concierge services are médiocre, unefficient and overpriced !

Breakfast was too expensive at the "discount" rate of £28pp!

Definitely not worth the price and wish we had known this before deciding to purchase a rate that included breakfast.

but expensive and the food in the bar is not up to the price.

We were then told the rooftop bar was open … we went up to the rooftop bar, it was raining so we came back to the lobby.

We went for a couple of drinks on the rooftop bar of the intercontinental.

Instead we were directed to the rooftop bar — that is a nice view

We were given the rooftop bar here as a recommendation.

The rooftop bar on the roof has only a few seats, so reservation is recommended.

As for the amenities, we only ended up going to the rooftop bar on a couple of occasions.

The hotel has a lovely roof top bar with some of the best views of Bordeaux.

The roof top bar is only open seasonally I believe

The rooftop bar provides great views yet is typically overpriced.

but stylish and comfortable, very central in Bordeaux and has an amazing roof top bar, I can’t wait for our next stay, we will be back soon!

There is also a rooftop bar with one of the most stunning views of the entire city one could imagine.

Roof top bar well worth a visit for the views alone.

The hotel also has an outdoor rooftop bar, called Night Beach.

From the Roof Top Bar, you will have a view of Bordeaux.

We also had some drinks on the rooftop bar.

I have to mention breakfast - every morning across from the opera, served by the delightful and attentive Catherine and Anastasia.

Other rooms look out on the square in front, with a view of the Opera house.

Our room was beautiful, with a balcony and amazing views overlooking the Opera house.

It is right in the center of town, across from the Opera House and in walking distance to places with all activities in town.

The view of the opera house was stunning.

It looked towards the Opera House, and you could feel the energy of the city below.

The breakfast was delicious (as my jeans now testify) and was regularly replenished by the lovely staff in the delightful restaurant overlooking the opera house.

Best location convenient to go everywhere, right in front of the Opera House.

There is some noise from pedestrians if one has the opera balcony view.

We were on the top floor in a room with a small balcony overlooking the opera house.

It is right next to the opera in the very centre of the city.

Location cannot be beaten - opposite the Opera House and a stones throw from 100s of bars, cafes and restaurants.

The location is most ideal, in a city center square right across from the Opera house.

The hotel does enjoy a beautiful location with fantastic views of the opera, and very polite and helpful staff.

We were given front-row seats facing the gorgeous Opera and our server was Anastacia.

The location is across from the Opera - within walking distance of everything.

It was in a fantastic location, sharing a pedestrian square with The Opera.

Location wise it is perfect, as it is right opposite the opera theatre and within less than 5 mins walking distance to the Christmas market.

The bellboy brought our luggage to our room and suggested luggage racks to hold our suitcases off the floor in the tiny room that the front desk assured us had a corner view partially overlooking the street (it did not and faced a building a few feet away).

I was already expecting small rooms due to being an old and historical building in center of Bordeaux,

I think having one slightly larger-feeling room instead of two tiny ones would have worked better.

We got a very small room that didn’t live up to the price.

The rooms are often tiny and impractical and made to seem even smaller by the dark and heavy decor.

The rooms were so small I couldn't leave one open suitcase  let alone two.

For instance: there were no tissues in room, no directions for use of coffee pot, the shower leaked all over slippery marble bath floor, only one bottle of complimentary water( plus small bottle of water from mini bar =$10), it’s difficult to find working outlet to plug in chargers and converter ( from U-S) and our tiny room was so  jammed full of furniture it was difficult to maneuver around.

Rooms are small even by European standards.

I can see if you stay other than suite, the room could be small.

but beware they may offer you tiny room first!

The small room can be a little too small if you have too many luggage,

It all started well, with very attentive service from porters and front desk.

First impressions are staff everywhere compared to other Hotels we have stayed.

My actual visit was July 2018, it was hot and the balcony pool bar overlooking the city was the place to be.

Hotel was in the City center, close to restaurants, shopping, river.

We arrived in Bordeaux by train and expected an easy tram ride into the city.

The hotel is located across from the Grand Theatre which places  it in the center of the city.

The rooftop bar is a wonderful place to see the city and enjoy a glass of wine.

but well laid out and the views across the city are spectacular.

but well kept hotel is located in very centre of the city.

We loved the fact they give you a phone to take around the city with you so you can google to your heart’s content.

You really feel like a VIP when you stay here as everyone comes here to take pictures and it is a central focal point for the city.

This hotel is perfectly situated in the middle of the city and the worlds longest shopping mall & is 1/2 block from the entrance.

Location wise it is perfect being at the centre of the city which does mean its tourist capital

First of all the location of the hotel is very convenient, near the city centre.

As a spire ambassador we received an upgraded room, which was brilliant, hotel is in the best location to discover the city.

Very close walk to the City Open Top Bus Tours stand.

This hotel is probably the best in the city and is reflected by excellent service from a pro-active and helpful frontline staff.

We booked two rooms and we ended up with a very small room (with an even smaller bathroom) up 2 flights of stairs (no lift).

Half the hotel has a lift and 1/2 is a staircase (not handicap accessible) due to check in and no preferences, we stayed were there was no lifts.

The elevator had to be the slowest lift ever invented.

Unfortunaty the elevator was not yet functiojning and that was uncomfortable since we both are handicapped with walking stairs.

We now know why as access is tight up the stairs and there is no lift to where our room was across the courtyard.

There was a lot of noise (some days from 9am until after 7pm at times) as they were working on the lift which was right outside our room.

We were told later that it was actually the elevator sounding an alarm.

However no information on  how anything works, safe never worked atter staff tired several times, Recommend you be able to climb stairs as the elevator, while modern had to fit UNESCO or some regs and it really not very usable.

The lift also is more like a trolley, on leaving we were trying to summon it whilst downstairs a Chinese couple were trying the same thing resulting a game of push me pull you until we gave up and carried everything downstairs.

The elevator is only used if needed by asking the front desk person to accompany you.

Although the elevator is small it does hold two to three people.

There is an elevator to go up to the bedrooms

but, they DO have an elevator in the front building that can be requested.

Its three floors up and the lift is slow, so we all got some good exercise.

The lift broke down on the first day so we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs for the duration of our visit.

The "elevator" was a cultural experience in itself, some of the elevators in Europe are something else, we are spoiled here.

There are some that do not have an elevator so  be ware if you need one.

Staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us.

Le BHB is a charming, warm and friendly boutique hotel.

Customized wine tasting by a knowledgeable and friendly Sommelier and we could do this whilst the little ones were running around.

Our room was small / cosy - the bath was an excitement for the children with its blasting water - we slept well!

However, given the price paid, the room really was very small and relatively standard.

We booked a bit late for high season and were only able to get a small room ("Double Room Elegance") and boy was it small.

We had first a very tiny room with external jacuzzi, we changed with one with internal jacuzzi near the bar.

Started with a too small room and got a good, larger one for extra 25 euros.

Although our room was small we had a terrace with a jacuzzi and it was very well appointed.

The room was Tiny, even by European standards -- by far the smallest (and yet the most expensive) room among the 5 four-star hotels we stayed in on this trip to France.

however, the size of the standard room is particularly small for the price.
