The entire staff team at front desk, breakfast room, and concierge was very helpful and friendly.

And the best scrambled eggs I have ever had, made by chef Fabian.

We were particularly impressed with the young men in the cocktail bar who created some delicious cocktails.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

The staff is very nice, and the breakfast too.

We are not big breakfast people so have no complaints.

We also enjoyed the hotel’s impressive breakfast selection of hot and cold food.

The breakfast buffet was good and a chef makes fresh porridge, pancakes and eggs.

Breakfast was full of choices and very good.

Our stay included the breakfast buffet, which was very good with fruit, yogurts, different breads and pastries, omelets made to order, meats, etc.

The breakfast was delicious (as my jeans now testify) and was regularly replenished by the lovely staff in the delightful restaurant overlooking the opera house.

The breakfast staff are really helpful, friendly and do an excellent job (notably Marika, Margot, Maxime and Emca) You must absolutely ensure to have an omelette by Sher in the breakfast room.

Breakfasts were outstanding with almost everything you could imagine.

Overall, our room felt dark, uncomfortable and unhygienic.

The primary reason is that the rooms (carpeting) are a bit ‘tired’ and the hallways are dark, drab and hot.

My only complaint was that the room we had did not have one decent light fixture you could read by and overall the room was dark.

Our room and bathroom were TINY, dark and faced an adjacent building.

Also, the bedroom area (which is a little small because of the wasted space in the narrow walkway) is extremely dark, which makes doing any reading or using the laptop close to impossible in the room.

The hallways to get to the rooms are dark and dramatic, with an old style and slightly musty smell, and the room carried out this feel,

Initially, the corridors seemed dark and outdated

Due to the curtain situation, the room always appeared dark, even with all the lights on.

Just rooms are rather dark and rich red colour and maybe too much of variuos decorations.

However the rooms were very small and dark and our bed was awful.

Then there are interminable corridors - over-decorated in dark colours as well - sometimes with stairs that you have to climb to get to your little room.

Rooms are old school traditional dark ambience, you'll always need the lights on.

However, the rooms are dark due to small windows which seems to be common in older hotels.

The workout room is a bit bizarre tho - almost feels like a hotel room turned workout facility with dark drapes and wallpaper.

The room we had was dark and small, we couldn’t open the window, and the room servicing was abysmal.

Besides the perfect location, their hospitality made our stay very enjoyable and memorable!

Visiting Bordeaux often, we knew the location of the hotel and have had lunch there several times.

The location of this hotel was perfect with all the sites of Bordeaux within the area.

I would not rush back at the price they charge.

Breakfast price at 38 euro and a coffee at 10 euro is extraordinarily expensive, compared to outside cafes….breakfasts from 10 euro-coffee, scrambled eggs, juice, croissant and coffee, or coffee for 2.40 euro.

We eventually had to walk up to the welcome booth to ask to pay.

This would have taken seconds and cost nothing to the hotel.

Awful check in by indifferent receptionist, first room ghastly, second and more expensive room (c €800 per night) not much better.

Definately it is not worth 500Euro/night that we paid.

though a bit expensive for what it is (though I'm guessing it was because we were there towards the end of high season).

I paid up anyway as there was no offer or apology.

I've stayed at Intercontinentals all over the world and I'm sorry to say that Bordeaux does not rate to the high standards that the others do.

but the cocktails are overpriced for what you get - they aren't 'special' enough to warrant the price.

We paid 540 Euro for 2 pax and end up their "2 Chateau" is actually 1 shop that sells many wine + 1 chateau which serves us 3 different type of poor red wine.

These 2 nights were still the most expensive of any on our 17 night vacation?

parking (with valet) had a cost of 30 euros per day.

Concierge services are médiocre, unefficient and overpriced !

Breakfast was too expensive at the "discount" rate of £28pp!

Definitely not worth the price and wish we had known this before deciding to purchase a rate that included breakfast.

but expensive and the food in the bar is not up to the price.

Also it was lovely to have dinner on the Terrace in the front of the hotel .

If you don’t have dinner at a restaurant you can’t get dessert.

We had a table booked for dinner in the restaurant at 19h30 so asked if we could go to our table early and have a drink ‘I’ll go and find out and come back to you’.

the roof top terrace is a very nice place to meet friends for a pre dinner drink

even though we said we would be ordering dinner at the appointed time.

The food and service were both impeccable.

The lobby personnel can't do enough, the food and wine options tremendous and the rooms are old world luxury with modern ameneties.

3 of us attended for drinks after a late dinner.

We had dinner one night in La Bordeaux restaurant and it was good.

Restaurants and shopping within walking distance.

The cocktails made by the cute Alexis was amazing !

The porters, reception staff and concierge are knowledgeable about the local area and were very helpful with taxis, directions, transportation and recommendations for places to eat and where to go.

We always have food and drinks here and gladly pay the prices for special service and quality.

Lunch or dinner on the square with great food and drink and superb people watching.

You are within walking distance to all the major sites and many of the best restaurants.

We were then told the rooftop bar was open … we went up to the rooftop bar, it was raining so we came back to the lobby.

We went for a couple of drinks on the rooftop bar of the intercontinental.

Instead we were directed to the rooftop bar — that is a nice view

We were given the rooftop bar here as a recommendation.

The rooftop bar on the roof has only a few seats, so reservation is recommended.

As for the amenities, we only ended up going to the rooftop bar on a couple of occasions.

The hotel has a lovely roof top bar with some of the best views of Bordeaux.

but stylish and comfortable, very central in Bordeaux and has an amazing roof top bar, I can’t wait for our next stay, we will be back soon!

We also had some drinks on the rooftop bar.

It all started well, with very attentive service from porters and front desk.

The service from every single employee we encountered as very friendly and professional.

Prices are chargeable at this level when you give 5* service.

I will say the linens were very nice and the room was extremely clean and I enjoyed the nightly turn down service.

but once we arrived we were delighted by the service.

The breakfast was very good, and the service and facilities were excellent.

Bell hop service was wonderful and everyone at the front desk was lovely.

This is an excellent hotel offering the highest levels of professionalism and service.

We staid three hot days in Bordeaux (family of 4 + friend) and received excellent service at the hotel.

The room we stayed was first class - super amenities, night service etc.

The service was welcoming, and the location of the hotel was perfect.

I have to mention breakfast - every morning across from the opera, served by the delightful and attentive Catherine and Anastasia.

Other rooms look out on the square in front, with a view of the Opera house.

Our room was beautiful, with a balcony and amazing views overlooking the Opera house.

It is right in the center of town, across from the Opera House and in walking distance to places with all activities in town.

The view of the opera house was stunning.

It looked towards the Opera House, and you could feel the energy of the city below.

There is some noise from pedestrians if one has the opera balcony view.

We were on the top floor in a room with a small balcony overlooking the opera house.

It is right next to the opera in the very centre of the city.

Location cannot be beaten - opposite the Opera House and a stones throw from 100s of bars, cafes and restaurants.

The location is most ideal, in a city center square right across from the Opera house.

The hotel does enjoy a beautiful location with fantastic views of the opera, and very polite and helpful staff.

We were given front-row seats facing the gorgeous Opera and our server was Anastacia.

The location is across from the Opera - within walking distance of everything.

It was in a fantastic location, sharing a pedestrian square with The Opera.

Location wise it is perfect, as it is right opposite the opera theatre and within less than 5 mins walking distance to the Christmas market.

The bellboy brought our luggage to our room and suggested luggage racks to hold our suitcases off the floor in the tiny room that the front desk assured us had a corner view partially overlooking the street (it did not and faced a building a few feet away).

I was already expecting small rooms due to being an old and historical building in center of Bordeaux,

I think having one slightly larger-feeling room instead of two tiny ones would have worked better.

The housekeeping team overall was positive - rooms were small

We got a very small room that didn’t live up to the price.

The rooms are often tiny and impractical and made to seem even smaller by the dark and heavy decor.

The rooms were so small I couldn't leave one open suitcase  let alone two.

For instance: there were no tissues in room, no directions for use of coffee pot, the shower leaked all over slippery marble bath floor, only one bottle of complimentary water( plus small bottle of water from mini bar =$10), it’s difficult to find working outlet to plug in chargers and converter ( from U-S) and our tiny room was so  jammed full of furniture it was difficult to maneuver around.

Rooms are small even by European standards.

I can see if you stay other than suite, the room could be small.

but beware they may offer you tiny room first!

First impressions are staff everywhere compared to other Hotels we have stayed.

My actual visit was July 2018, it was hot and the balcony pool bar overlooking the city was the place to be.

Hotel was in the City center, close to restaurants, shopping, river.

We arrived in Bordeaux by train and expected an easy tram ride into the city.

The hotel is located across from the Grand Theatre which places  it in the center of the city.

The rooftop bar is a wonderful place to see the city and enjoy a glass of wine.

but well laid out and the views across the city are spectacular.

but well kept hotel is located in very centre of the city.

We loved the fact they give you a phone to take around the city with you so you can google to your heart’s content.

You really feel like a VIP when you stay here as everyone comes here to take pictures and it is a central focal point for the city.

This hotel is perfectly situated in the middle of the city and the worlds longest shopping mall & is 1/2 block from the entrance.

Location wise it is perfect being at the centre of the city which does mean its tourist capital

First of all the location of the hotel is very convenient, near the city centre.

As a spire ambassador we received an upgraded room, which was brilliant, hotel is in the best location to discover the city.

Very close walk to the City Open Top Bus Tours stand.

This hotel is probably the best in the city and is reflected by excellent service from a pro-active and helpful frontline staff.

The room is very nicely decorated with all the amenities you would need.

but are beautiful with high ceilings and lovely furnishings.

The rooms all had French names, and nice decor.

The location was ideal and the hotel itself was very charming, beautifully decorated and very luxurious.

The hotel itself is housed in a finely restored mansion and is wine-focused, with rooms named after famous chateaus.

The room itself was well decorated and had an Espresso machine.

but it’s charming heritage building restored with a lot of love.

We had a very pleasant stay in the small and elegant hotel well situated in midst of Bordeaux.

An elegant entrance leads to the reception.

Rooms are bright and clean with a great shower.

The hotel seems a lot more cozy and quaint than most.

The rooms were of an adequate size with contemporary decor.

That said, I gave a top rating because the ambiance is great.

This hotel has a fantastic staff and a  unique decor that combines modern conveniences with historical touches.

We booked two rooms and we ended up with a very small room (with an even smaller bathroom) up 2 flights of stairs (no lift).

Half the hotel has a lift and 1/2 is a staircase (not handicap accessible) due to check in and no preferences, we stayed were there was no lifts.
