The entire staff team at front desk, breakfast room, and concierge was very helpful and friendly.

And the best scrambled eggs I have ever had, made by chef Fabian.

We were particularly impressed with the young men in the cocktail bar who created some delicious cocktails.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

We are not big breakfast people so have no complaints.

We also enjoyed the hotel’s impressive breakfast selection of hot and cold food.

Breakfasts were outstanding with almost everything you could imagine.

Overall, our room felt dark, uncomfortable and unhygienic.

The primary reason is that the rooms (carpeting) are a bit ‘tired’ and the hallways are dark, drab and hot.

My only complaint was that the room we had did not have one decent light fixture you could read by and overall the room was dark.

Our room and bathroom were TINY, dark and faced an adjacent building.

Also, the bedroom area (which is a little small because of the wasted space in the narrow walkway) is extremely dark, which makes doing any reading or using the laptop close to impossible in the room.

Initially, the corridors seemed dark and outdated

Due to the curtain situation, the room always appeared dark, even with all the lights on.

Just rooms are rather dark and rich red colour and maybe too much of variuos decorations.

Breakfast price at 38 euro and a coffee at 10 euro is extraordinarily expensive, compared to outside cafes….breakfasts from 10 euro-coffee, scrambled eggs, juice, croissant and coffee, or coffee for 2.40 euro.

We eventually had to walk up to the welcome booth to ask to pay.

This would have taken seconds and cost nothing to the hotel.

Awful check in by indifferent receptionist, first room ghastly, second and more expensive room (c €800 per night) not much better.

Definately it is not worth 500Euro/night that we paid.

though a bit expensive for what it is (though I'm guessing it was because we were there towards the end of high season).

I've stayed at Intercontinentals all over the world and I'm sorry to say that Bordeaux does not rate to the high standards that the others do.

but the cocktails are overpriced for what you get - they aren't 'special' enough to warrant the price.

We paid 540 Euro for 2 pax and end up their "2 Chateau" is actually 1 shop that sells many wine + 1 chateau which serves us 3 different type of poor red wine.

These 2 nights were still the most expensive of any on our 17 night vacation?

The bellboy brought our luggage to our room and suggested luggage racks to hold our suitcases off the floor in the tiny room that the front desk assured us had a corner view partially overlooking the street (it did not and faced a building a few feet away).

I was already expecting small rooms due to being an old and historical building in center of Bordeaux,

I think having one slightly larger-feeling room instead of two tiny ones would have worked better.

The rooms were so small I couldn't leave one open suitcase  let alone two.

For instance: there were no tissues in room, no directions for use of coffee pot, the shower leaked all over slippery marble bath floor, only one bottle of complimentary water( plus small bottle of water from mini bar =$10), it’s difficult to find working outlet to plug in chargers and converter ( from U-S) and our tiny room was so  jammed full of furniture it was difficult to maneuver around.

Rooms are small even by European standards.

I can see if you stay other than suite, the room could be small.

but beware they may offer you tiny room first!

We got to our room and without noticing anything unusual we took a nap to catch up on some sleep.

The room reeked of that cheap cleaning fluid they all seem to use, was too hot for sleeping, the mattress was worn out and the "bolt on " bathroom was very intrusive and badly positioned.

but it didn't matter much, as we only slept there.

but not sure why anyone would stay much longer than sleep and breakfast in their hotel while visiting Bordeaux.

The bed was too small for two people, I guess couples who do not like to sleep too sticked together may have a hard time.

A small tip, don't put the coffee machine on if your partner is still sleeping, it makes a terrible row.

I found the mattress very hard, and did not have a comfortable sleep.

My only minor grumble was that for jet lag reasons I had to sleep one afternoon and my do not disturb sign was ignored.

I struggled with the wifi connection - every time my screen went to sleep on my phone or iPad I had to re-type the complicated code and password, which was a little frustrating.

Unfortunately the beds are rock hard…like sleeping on concrete.

It was separated from the sleeping quarters by a high-quality sliding glass wall (the type with a translucent layer sandwiched between two panes of glass).

Having not slept properly on the first night I went down to breakfast and was greated by scenes of chaos.

The room was that small that one had to sleep with feet almost touching the door.

Although the room was very small, we found the hotel to be very comfortable.

The wine bar is excellent - a huge choice of wines and delicious small plates to go with them.

The breakfast included with our room was delicious.

Great room, all inclusive mini bar, great variety on their breakfast.

Also, I think the breakfast cost (28 Euro) is high given the high price of the room--we chose a wonderful coffee shop around the block (Panshop) for the best coffee and coissants for 8 Euro.

Very nice breakfast with a delicious selection of local produce.

We booked two rooms and we ended up with a very small room (with an even smaller bathroom) up 2 flights of stairs (no lift).

Half the hotel has a lift and 1/2 is a staircase (not handicap accessible) due to check in and no preferences, we stayed were there was no lifts.

The elevator had to be the slowest lift ever invented.

Unfortunaty the elevator was not yet functiojning and that was uncomfortable since we both are handicapped with walking stairs.

We now know why as access is tight up the stairs and there is no lift to where our room was across the courtyard.

There was a lot of noise (some days from 9am until after 7pm at times) as they were working on the lift which was right outside our room.

We were told later that it was actually the elevator sounding an alarm.

However no information on  how anything works, safe never worked atter staff tired several times, Recommend you be able to climb stairs as the elevator, while modern had to fit UNESCO or some regs and it really not very usable.

The lift also is more like a trolley, on leaving we were trying to summon it whilst downstairs a Chinese couple were trying the same thing resulting a game of push me pull you until we gave up and carried everything downstairs.

The elevator is only used if needed by asking the front desk person to accompany you.

Although the elevator is small it does hold two to three people.

There is an elevator to go up to the bedrooms

but, they DO have an elevator in the front building that can be requested.

Its three floors up and the lift is slow, so we all got some good exercise.

The lift broke down on the first day so we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs for the duration of our visit.

The "elevator" was a cultural experience in itself, some of the elevators in Europe are something else, we are spoiled here.

There are some that do not have an elevator so  be ware if you need one.

We were happily surprised with a room that had a tiny balcony with a table and chairs.

Only negative was the room was tiny, making it difficult to move around with two people's luggage.

We had first a very tiny room with external jacuzzi, we changed with one with internal jacuzzi near the bar.

Everybody working there seems to thrive in helping the visitors, for example at breakfast.

but it regularly completely disappeared from the list of available networks and was incredibly slow.

but coffee machine overly complicated, slow and situated in a confined space so it made it challenging to move around the room.

To make the matter worse, the signal was very weak in our first room to the point that only my laptop (but not our iPhones, iPads and other tablets) could reliably connect and it was at a very slow speed.

Water kept splashing out unless you turned the tap very slow.

However, we did have a glass of wine and an early bit in the bar, which took about two hours as the service (if one wishes to call it that) was painfully slow!!

Breakfast is amazing - everything is freshly made - croissants, chocolatine & baguettes - with a variety of confiture - coffee and fresh fruits.

Breakfast is generous and we made up cheese rolls to keep us going through the day..

Local bakery , Antone is brilliant and local cafe opposite Le Furtado is also great value.

The breakfast was extensive and fulfilling.

The host, Isabelle, is welcoming and extremely helpful and provides a very good continental breakfast.

Isabelle could not be nicer, she marked out places and routes for us to visit and her breakfast was delicious with lots of strong coffee and great bread and cheese among other things.
