It was the ideal first stop on our honeymoon - complete with attentive and friendly staff, delicious food, and wonderful views.

My wife chooses this hotel for our anniversary & my birthday.

Attentive staff, incredible bkfst buffet.

The food was delicious at every restaurant

Breakfast was a lot better, they have buffet and you can also order off menu.

The rooms are beautiful, the pool and beach is gorgeous, the food (especially breakfast) is delicious and most importantly, every staff member is so kind and courteous.

Breakfast was great, lunch was serviceable - we had both every day.

The beach is unrivaled, as is their breakfast bar and service.

I cannot speak more highly of the delicious and diverse spread that was set out each morning.

As others have mentioned there are a lot of stairs (not something that bothered me at all) just something to note for those who may find it difficult.

The only downside for me was the room was a little small to what I am used & lots off stairs .

So long as that continues, and you’re not daunted by stairs (I’m sure other reviews explain this in detail) then I’d strongly recommend you add The Surin to your vacation plans.

Lastly the stairs to get everywhere in the hotel is very cumbersome.

It just is part of the character that makes this place special - and by the way, you can always ask the staff for a buggy ride to bring you up a bit higher, so the stairs you need to take to your room can be reduced drastically.

Be aware there are A LOT of stairs here - if you have problems with stairs, I would not come.

The only thing is that it has lots of stairs and you might wanna choose lower ground rooms if you have kids or elders.

Many stairs so not suggested for people with moving issues,

Be warned, there are a lot of stairs to get around,

Only negative aspect I can mention is that there are some trees that loose berries at this time of the year and these fall in front of our room which made it look somehow dirty, also on the stairs to walk down to the beach.

If you book a Hillside bungalow there are probably 100 stairs.

but you need a degree of fitness to move from beach to reception as there are a lot of very steep stairs.

Would not recommend for those that need accessibility, too many stairs!

Because of the hillside location, you may need to walk quite a lot of steep stairs to reach your room though.

The hotel is built on a cliff edge and therefore a little challenging for anyone disabled as there are a lot of stairs to manage.

It is built into a steep slope and you need to be able to negotiate stairs.

The only downside was the large amount of stairs to climb to reach the room,

although if you have mobility problems or joint issues, this may not be for you as the cottages are built along the hill which means that there’s a lot of climbing up and down stairs to get anywhere.

we can safely say that this hotel is one of the best in Thailand: good rooms, delicious food, perfect beach, excellent service, beautiful views.

Breakfast was excellent with lots of options and lovely fresh fruit.

The food quality is exceptional in the hotel with breakfast in particular being wonderful.

This resort has a great view , nice set up of breakfast , provide good selection of reakfast , nice club lounge and excellent staff !

The hotel restaurant for breakfast and other meals was great.

We ate meals at the hotel and were both very unwell that night, so much that we didn’t partake of the huge breakfast array of food the following morning.

One room smelled so bad that it burned our eyes.

I paid my room about 400usd per night and was full of coachroaches dirty all around bedsheet smelling bed and custoner service at its worse.

Outdated rooms, mildew smell, the pool is not maintained, the photos on the website do not reflect the reality, the dining room staff is not helpful.

The bread was stale beyond words, we couldn’t eat it.

We had tears in our sheets, the room smelt of damp, service is slow and the staff don’t seem to know much about the resort.

This is just disgusting and shows the type of management of this hotel.

The smell is too traumatising to go back.

Coffee bag without the filer in room can not help a coffee-lover.. 
the smell when we entered the room is excellent, I bought a bottle of lemongrass essence oil when we checked out.

It stinks with a combination of metallic/sulfurous odors.

Nor do I expect to smell a strong stench of the drains when using the sink.

9) The floor of the hotel room was filthy.

Dark ,musty and old.The bathroom was really tiny and no double basin.

Woke to a very loud diesel motor outside door and a huge fog of toxic gas.

241 had a strong smell of damp, so we asked to change.

but when we checked in it was a bit musty and my wife's allergy reacted badly to it, so they moved us immediately to a sea view room with a free upgrade.

There are several restaurants available for breakfast, so you will never be bored with food when staying for consecutive nights.

even though they were not in the breakfast buffet.

We eat in Latest Recipe for breakfast each morning & the food is excellent with so much choice, they have everything covered.

They lent us an Apple TV when we couldn’t stream handphone on their TV.

Delicious food in all the restaurants and for breakfast.

We still keep going back, there are breakfast options which are also good.

And the breakfast buffet appeared to rotate so a lot of dishes were different each day.

Breakfast dishes  especially Indian was tasty and great!!

There are a number of restaurants onsite, and the food was delicious!

The food is top notch, especially the buffet breakfast where the fruits are fresh, the pastries are flakey and there is an excellent interpretation on international cuisine respectfully on offer.

While we were there everything went really well, the hotel itself is quite nice, clean and the swimming pool, breakfast, the beach views and overall vibe is fantastic.

Chef joshi really took care with the indian breakfast options.

The breakfast selection seemed wide and very adequate,

but this information was not conveyed to the receptionist and I was charged 100,000 baht when I checked out despite restaurant reservation desk took a note of that.

Unfortunately, a broken edge of glass table issue arose, leading to a $130 charge.

It’s 2023, is there not a better system than a piece of card?

I reviewed my card statements and the payments (both) went through, which meant i was double charged.

Bolt accepts cards so we didn’t have the hassle of paying cash.

Phuket taxis charge a minimum 200 thb to go anywhere (seems to be an agreement between them all) and really adds up,

but the only thing was that hotel charges us 90 THB for Soda from Mini-Bar which we never used or had.

They don't give out towel cards like they used to, so you just grab what you need.

Eventually it was delivered after another 40 minutes; the positive thing was that we were told it will be free of charge due to the delay.

Pls bring universal power adapters/USB for charging devices.

However considering its location which is a bit away from night mkt area, for a 5* hotel I would expect the hotel to have a free shuttle (once a day would suffice) to Patong especially when there is nothing around to do so I am quite disappointed that for this level of hotel (min 250eur per night) that they miss out on this point and prefer to over charge their shuttle service (4x day) at 180 bath one way per person which is quite expensive.

I called front desk to listen to the noise, she said she would inform manager in charge immediately.

He, along with the rest of the staff here are a credit to the resort and we contacted the resort direct to tell them this and to pass on our comment.

But weird thing is that they charge for the tennis court per person.

They wanted to charge 5 nights upfront for my booking, then made me go through hell canceling a booking then while two kids were crying.

To keep this property under the Marriott portfolio is an offense to the Bonvoy card holders .

Taxi: 
They have a hotel taxi where you can charge to your room or if you are able to get a local taxi or VIP Taxi (often cheaper than the hotel taxis) they will often give you their contact info and you can call them and schedule rides on your own instead of using the hotel based cars.

The website had said that we would have a 1000 baht credit to spend,

They tried to charge us for items in the room and mini bar that were not there in the first place, and she argued with me that I was wrong.

The hotel's handling of this matter during our departure, while we were rushing for the airport, left an unpleasant impact on our overall experience. Additionally, inquiring about extending one room for an extra four hours on the last day proved challenging, as the hotel provided inconsistent and seemingly arbitrary price quotes, creating confusion."

For example: you can scan (most people in Thailand use their phones as an account management tool) to pay a bill,

Cost of a taxi from here to Krabi was quoted at 5000 THB!

Just be ready to pay top dollar for food.

The transport company that the hotel uses charges the same rates as the private taxis and tuk tuks.

however, the manager was really rude in the restaurant (never seen that before in any Marriott envoy hotels and not that we did not pay for our breakfast during the stay including children).

Transport in Phuket is expensive, so it can cost a lot of money just to go out and eat.

He made us pay 90 THB despite our insistence.

but I think this place is too overvalued for the price.

You can find better rates in Patong than the hotel.

Negatives - The Building smells from water damage (smells wet), no 24 hour room service, buffet breakfast was average in comparison to other Marriott Bon Voy hotels, we paid a lot of money for a suite and the fabrics on the couches are dirty, beds are quite hard.

Because my sun sleeped on the couch with linnen they said I have to pay a much higher amount.

but when the manager got involved he decided to rip us off by saying that the rate had suddenly changed.

This hotel is not five star at all 

It’s run down and restaurants are very overpriced

There are many better options in Phuket

We spent 8 days and we’re told there were 8 restaurants

I would not recommend this place unless they charge like a 2/3 star hotel rate:

As we had wrongly booked a two single bed instead of king bed room, we asked the hotel if they had a king size bed where we could change to, and were willing to pay for it.

The smoothi from market place, made by ( june rin) was the missing piece for that amazing breakfast a smoothi within the choices we had was a brilliant idea for me, a person who drinks regularly smothies in the morning, the papaya one was the best. +

Amazing breakfast buffet, huge variety of food, fruits and drinks 🥰 and also I want to mention the attention that I received from June and rin that make me feel at home.

Market Place… I tried the breakfast buffet here at the Market place and I enjoyed my dining experience.

They have really nice view especially when you have breakfast in morning .

Especially at market place, we had June assist us with travel plans and she also gave us a world class breakfast experience.

I thank June  because the things she suggested were incredibly delicious.

The marketplace restaurant is a cool place to have breakfast also mentioning the staff June which made the experience amazing there.

Breakfast here was excellent , choice was unreal and catered for everyone.

We came to Angsana Resort for 6 days and the breakfast buffet each morning at the Market Place restaurant was amazing.

Came here for 5 days to relax, still here, along with 450 noisy  Coca Cola staff,

The reception area was really hot with no air conditioning and the poor staff in their uniforms had mini fans to cool themselves down.

but what a shame the maintenance of the property is a very poor state.

Anyone trying to read a book is likely to get eye strain because of the poor light levels.

but the bathroom needed to be changed and the lighting was poor.

The breakfast was very crowded and noisy and reminded me of a poor school canteen.

(Sorry to the poor sod who had to take our initial room at the end of the hotel's internal peninsula).

but this was a shocking poor vacation for us.

The breakfast buffet was also poor, being very stuffy and crowded.

but nothing special and the quality of juices is poor.

Poor choice , poor food .five star hotel whose “best” restaurant is little above a poolside  cafe ,where people eat their evening meals in their bathers.

The reception, restaurants, breakfast were all really poor.

There is very poor insulation meaning that you hear every conversation from outside your room within in.

Very poor breakfast, not many options available.

General maintenance of gardens, pool and buildings of very poor standard, not even at three star level.

However, we were not informed that there is building work going on at the hotel so it was very noisy and we were not informed before we arrived which was very poor from the hotel.

Room lighting is very poor and staff is not very friendly

Bodega service was slow on both nights we went

The fan on the lower floor was agonizingly slow  and the AC only went down to 22degrees, making the atmosphere there increasingly stuffy and humid.

Sometimes the room services are a bit slow which can be improved.

There were fewer staff than usual and service was quite slow.

The poolside bar is very slow, the full board order system needs tweaked.

With the understanding that the Thai tourism industry is only starting to recover again, I expected a few things to be slow and was happy to be patient.

You can walk to other resorts via the beach pathway & past local market stalls (massages, hair braiding, drinks, pool toys), or by boat at the lagoon which is slow

Service in the breakfast restaurant was slow and staff didn’t seem to understand what it was you were asking for which was a bit of a chew.

However, at the same time, I was let down by some slow and inconsistent service.

Wall tiles, flooring, wardrobes, wall finishes were all crying out to be replaced.

Tiles broken in the pool, light switches missing the dimmer switch, no hot water throughout the stay.

Yes there are some minor maintenance issues that need addressing - odd loose tile in pool and minor furniture issues in room

Tiles missing in pools, dated rooms, stained chairs etc.

Tiles missing in the pool and ladders loose to get into the pool.

Tiles in some public spaces are stained, cushions on the chairs in the main breakfast area, (Market place) are badly stained.

As others say, the hotel is tired in places, the pool has lots of missing tiles

For example, chipped paint, dry rot, missing grout, chipped tiles in the pool, etc.

I read reviews saying it's a little tired and I honestly think that this was probably around the splash area children's pool as it was noted that was tiles missing

The only criticism I have (and the sole reason for not giving full marks)  is that a number the tiles on the pool floor (both in the recreational pool and in other areas of the river section) are damaged and my husband and 2 of my sons cut their feet during water polo matches.

There are a few things to improve, we have given this feedback to the reception:
- Pools have sharp tiles, a lot of the waterpolo guests got nasty cuts on their feet
- BBQ at the beach was bad 2 times.

Our room had tiles missing from the bathroom, stains on the tiles on the floor and in the wall and it looked like the resort had seen much better days.

Lots of work needed on the beach pool, lots of tiles missing, bit dirty and grubby.

Rooms are a little dated with eg: tiles, wall paint bubbles coming up.

We where then offered a bigger room we declined after looking around the pools and dinning options, the tiles on the pools are all missing on the steps , gardens in kept and all the waterfalls that once ran into the pools stoped or not working , ponds empty .

One has to be careful at the pool with the water polo or volleyball, the area where the sand ends n the pool, the tiles can cut.

My nephew hurt his toes with one of its broken tiles and i have read incident of it here not once or twice

To be fair, the tiles were quite sharp where there were tiles missing (renovation needed here too) and I’m surprised it didn’t happen before then.
