It was dark and dingy, we were offered 2 other rooms which none looked like the pictures on their website.

Our "superior" room consisted of 2 narrow hallways between the door, the dirty little bathroom, and the tiny dark room.

The room and bathroom were dark with very poor lighting.

However, I think there are a few needs as below : First, rooms are little bit dark, so when I come back from my day trip, I feel little bit down and tired.

The carpet was dark and spotted in areas, corners not well cleaned, and there were dirty marks all along the hallway at shoulder height.

we were placed in a dark,dingy worn room that would better suit a person or people that don't need any natural light or feelings of normality.

but being on the second floor it was also quite dark and we needed the lights on at all times.

It smelled terribly bad, it was very dark and the carpet was gluey (ie I stood there for approx 10 minutes and my shoes were sticking to the floor!).

It was a bit dark as it had only one window on an interior courtyard so you had to really look up to see the sky.

I should also mention that it felt safe even after dark.

Still on the stairs they are lit by lights on movement sensors and we often found ourselves in the middle of a flight of stairs in the dark which was a little unnerving.

It was also rather dark as it faced a tiny inner courtyard, there was very little daylight.

After entering the door to the second room, I had to walk along 2 long hallways in the dark to get to the room proper.

It was dark, narrow, and the bathroom with no tub was so small - even for Paris - that I declined.

I arrived at Gare de Lyon train station on a Friday night, extremely long wait for taxi's,

Ideal location for seeing the sights in Paris.

The location is perfect - whether having dinner or un café down the block, or walking to the Seine, Latin Quarter, or Notre Dame.

BUT also wood beams in ceiling, friendly staff, diligent housekeeping, awesome location two blocks from basically everything cool.

We loved the central location just a couple blocks off the Pont Neuf, very easy to walk to the Latin Quarter, the Luxembourg Gardens, the Louvre, even the Marais.

The location couldn't be beat, with easy access to all the city's sites and plenty of metro/bus options if walking was not preferred.

I loved the location and bustling vibe of this hotel and will definitely return for another visit to Paris very soon.

I would stay again because of the excellent staff and location.

The location (6th Arrondissement) is next to many bars, cafes and crêperies.

Would reccomend based on location, comfort and service which for me is always important when looking on a hotel to stay at.

It is in an amazing location, a 1 minute walk to the Seine, and then Notre Dame is 5 minutes away.

Over the years I have chosen Hotel Dauphine for it’s fantastic location in the heart of St Germain, close to transport, museums and wonderful restaurants.

It was truly ideal, so close to restaurants and transit and the magical Seine!

rooms are beautiful well appointed and clean. brilliant eating venues right outside and around the corner( Maison Sauvage in my favourite!)

This hotel is close to many restaurants and shops in Saint Germain.

We were able to walk to all of the main sites we wanted to see, and it's surrounded by good restaurants.

We didn’t pay for breakfast as there are so many places to eat on the doorstep.

The hotel is just around the corner from Rue de Buci which has a number of excellent restaurants to choose from in a bustling and fun area - our favorite was Cafe Buci, while Atlas, a seafood restaurant catty corner from it, also was very good.

Lots of good restaurants as well very close by.

Also, walking distance to Notre Dame, the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, and of course, the entire Left Bank/Latin Quarter with its restaurants and shops.

Lots of restaurants in the area and within walking distance of a lot of the sights - Notre Dame, Musee du Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, Jardins du Luxembourg etc.

The staff is nice, welcoming, and help us alot with finding great restaurant.

but there are many cafes in the neighborhood that will also serve a decent breakfast.

I am so amazed at how much care the staff took prior to our trip in helping us with arrival questions as well as places to eat near there.

Bathroom Tub drain was stuck for first 2 nights.

The room was small and clean,except the bathroom had an unclean odour.

A complaint about that would be akin to complaining about the sulfur smell in an Icelandic shower.

Not sure if someone had been smoking illicitly before us or it came through the air conditioning.

but ours smelled like someone/something died in it.

Bonus, if you happen to be up at one in the morning, you can smell the croissants being made somewhere in the neighborhood.

Finally, there was an unpleasant moldy smell in the bathroom, which seemed to be very clean.

Soap smelled wonderful! We were on the fifth floor, so in order to get to it, you took an extremely tiny lift (so tiny that one night three people got in it, and it was overloaded!)

The smell persisted and it lasted for approx 1 hour.

The hotel's biggest drawback was the strong scent throughout - clearly intended as a nicety,

My only comment is that the fragrance of the sachets in the public areas is too strong.

Maybe that explained the smell in that room.

Room 14 was tiny, the airconditioning/heating unit was very noisy, and  provided insufficient heat, and the shower efficiently flooded the bathroom while making the person taking the shower only mildly damp.

though we were in smoking rooms (and don't smoke) there was absolutely no smoky residue or odor.

Classic 3-star in the heart of the Left Bank, so bear that in mind: cramped staircases, slow elevator, small bathrooms, tight-squeeze bedrooms.

The rooms with bathtubs have much larger total bathroom space.

but the location more than made up for lack of space.

but parctical use of the space makes the room seem larger.

Our 2 bedroom suite was a very small room with a bed, 2 small chairs,some shelves to put your clothes

Given that this was larger than a standard double, I'd say be careful if you are over 6' tall or weigh much over 200 lbs--you will find it pretty cramped.

They should put some hooks and shelves around, so at least you can hang/put stuff.

Travellers to Paris have to expect rooms to be small, unless you really are paying for space.

There needs to be more modern space to keep clothing.

My room was cramped and virtually no light.

but not so small that we couldn't move, and there was a nice chifforobe with hangers and shelves if you're staying long enough to unpack.

There were no drawers so we ended up living out of our suitcases which I hate .

Do not come here if you are looking for vast space in your room; you will not find it in most hotels of this calibre.

The items they show as features in their brochure, are just strange and take up space, such as an old intercom, jammed next to the night stand.

but I doubt anyone who is use to space would be able to use it.

You can ask them to remove the drinks so you have more space for your goodies.

The room layout made the space feel bigger - the room door opens into a small hallway with a mirror, bathroom (separate room) to the right off the entry hallway, which then opens to the left, to the bedroom (with a window).

Well looked after by all the lovely staff, especially the great guys on reception, nothing was too much trouble.

but clean with well appointed rooms, a nice staff and a pleasant breakfast.

It's charming, and the charm level is equalled (if not surpassed by) the staff.

* Hotel door does not block a lot of sound, you hear a lot of noise through it.

The toilet, on the other hand, was a bit small, my knees knocked against the door.

When I twice dropped the soap I seriously hit my head on the sharp door handle on the way up.

And this was the only hotel we have ever stayed in that asked you to leave your door key card at reception when going out. Why?

I do not find this satisfactory compensation for not having a functioning door lock.

Lift very slow, the front door is automatic

My door did not open due to a failed mechanism.

In fact, I had to carry the chair from the desk to the front door of the room so that I could sit and work on my laptop to get a good signal.

The door of our room actually has a small gap between the door and floor.

Wall was thin paper, It easy to hear TV sound from next door, of course conversation are.

Staff: "Yes, go ahead, the door us unlocked"

although there is airconditioning we chose to sleep with the french doors wide open and the conditioner off.

Location perfect - five minutes from Gare de Lyon (take main exit at front of station).

I stayed at the Hotel Palym overnight before catching a train south from Gare de Lyon.

Quiet place in a small street only 100m from the trainstation Gare de Lyon.

We left almost immediately to catch a train at the Gare de Lyon.

I love it because it's nice and personnel, well situated, close to the Gare de Lyon, where I normally arrive with the TGV and from where there is a metro Line takes me straight to the center.

The hotel is very close top Gare de Lyon, which makes it also very close to the Paris Islands, Bastille, Louvre, Les Halles, etc.

After a hot day travelling from London, the hotel was easy to find and perfectly located for catching my train the following morning.

The staff was very nice and the position is really convenient for travelling.

The hotel is literally across the street from the station and surrounded by restaurants featuring different cuisine.

It is a charming restaurant with personal & friendly service, nice wine and good food.

The area is well lit and plenty of restaurants along the street so we felt very safe.

There is a great restaurant, recommended, on the corner and a lovely place to eat, drink wine and relax.

Decent breakfast with a full range of food, not just coffee and croissants.

Breakfast has limited choice and service could get a bit slow with only one person manning it.

Wifi works only one device and it was a bit slow the second time.

The wifi is a bit slow in certain area of the room though.

We managed to find the hotel rather quickly and deposit our luggage (self service)

The hotel is very unique with its decor -

Loved the modern, intellectual, city vibe. Small rooms

Everything seems to have been carefully designed to maximize space, comfort, affordable high quality, all this with humor.

Big bed, light show technology :) and a lot of artworks.

but so stylish and comfortable (you can even customize the color of your shower, from the colors of a rainbow).

I was blown away by the efficiency from design to people.

All spaces are stylish and well appointed.

The rooms are so modern with different kind of art.

but the views, art, people tell you that you're in a new locale.

Controlling the colors in the bathroom was fun.

The interior of the hotel is very nice and has an inviting feeling to it.

The bathroom and toilet is also not private at all, so you need to know the person you are travelling with, else it could be embarrassing :D
So I would definitely recommend if you are travelling as a couple or solo, exceptional staff, nice atmosphere and great location.

+ We loved our stay and the style of the hotel.Bed was very comfy and changing  light in the shower is cool.

From the stylish entrance, great ambiance, food and drink with exceptionally helpful staff and a room that met our evey need we really couldn't ask for more and will most definetely be returning again one day soon.

On the morning of checkout, we easily walked to the Gare de Lyon train station, where we caught the Trenitalia Train to Milan.

The location next to Gare de Lyon greatly facilitated arrival from the airport and departure to Switzerland, as well as inter-city travel.

Recommend CitizenM Gare de Lyon to single or couple travellers who like a friendly hotel with excellent common spaces.
