although there is construction across the street, that can be noticed at times.

Across the Place, there was construction of a new multi-story building, so noise was a problem between around 8am to 5pm approx.

There was construction going on, so the small square facing the hotel was quite noisy at times.

The bedroom overlooked the opera area which is sadly under construction on the lower level

One thing it was not good is the front of the hotel(^_^;)It was middle of construction

but had wished they warned us about the construction.

The nearest metro station (Richelieu Drouot) was closed for construction,

The issue that compromised our stay was the construction.

My only complaint was that there was some hideous construction going on nearby that woke everyone up at 8 am with earth shattering crashing,

It's a rare thing, so imagine how disappointing it was on our 2 night stay in Paris, one of the few times we might have actually been able to sleep past 6:30am, to be woken up at 8am sharp by loud construction.

There was some construction going on out in front of the hotel during our visit, which made for a less than spectacular building facade and entrance,

but the sidewalk is still cut up, so I suspect there may be follow-on construction at a later date.

It spoilt breakfast having a pneumatic drill about 2 foot away from you and the noise was deafening.

I loved that they kept the original ceiling wool construction and just painted to match the interior.

There was some construction noise in the morning from an adjacent building and they play music in the hallways almost 24 hours a day it seemed.

The rooms and lobby of the hotel are very nicely decorated.

I had a super comfortable bed, a luxurious bath tub, impeccable & friendly service, tasty breakfast, beautiful interior decor throughout the hotel, with a fabulous location to explore Paris.

This is a truly charming and intimate little hotel located not far from the famous Paris Opera House.

It's very close to the Louvre, the Opera, all the shopping on Hausmann and still within walking distance to Notre Dame and Luxembourg Gardens, although it's a long walk to those last 2 locations,

Cons were that two of our rooms were quite small, the lift could be slow to arrive, and there was some kind of strong perfume in the lobby most days.

As the floor space in the room is compromised by the main stairwell, we did find the shower room particularly small so perhaps ask for another room if space is an issue.

The fitness room is very basic - no hand weights, the room was on the small side and the air con wasn't up to much, so we wouldn't recommend staying there in the height of summer.

:D We went to Demi Lune (French cuisine and cosy atmosphere), le petit Cluny and especially the Union Square, with the green awnings just across the hotel.

Even when is situated in a crowded area, the hotel is calm, silent and cozy.

But this gives the hotel a special flair.

Also, because it is in the part of Paris that we love staying in, close to the river, close to Luxembourg Gardens, close to Blvd St. Germain.

This area of the city is filled with nightlife, cozy streets, restaurants and is an easy walk to Norte Dame and the Luxembourg Gardens.

If you're a light sleeper, bring a mask and earplugs - you could hear the noise of the street at night, and sirens in the distance here and there,

but comfortable, the sound proofing are not too good, also it seems to me that the house keeper was in a hurry to finish her cleaning and forgot to supply the coffee bag in few occasions

but even on the weekend it was quiet after 11PM (maybe due to less tourists in Aug).

It's an old hotel so the walls are thin and the insulation is minimal between rooms.

but bathroom tiny - left door open - had to squeeze between wall and basin to get into the shower.

It is a cosy little hotel with some small rooms and a very small bathroom.

However, Extreamly small bathroom was difficult to use.

The room for two was small and the shower was transparent.

The bathroom is so small that I couldn’t close the door to shower.

No tea or coffee machine, one tiny shower gel and soap for 2 persons.

From the photos my partner and I expected a small bathroom with just enough room,

Other reviews are right, our cheap room was small and had the bathroom sink in the room separate from the shower and toilet rooms.

There was no dresser to unload clothes into so we lived out of our suit cases which we tripped over while navigating the room as it was difficult to navigate around the bed, past a little well used desk to get to the tiny little bathroom.

Not sure how this hotel was awarded 4 stars other than the fact that it has a miniscule elevator.

15th Century bones with exquisitely decorated interior along  with central air, elevator etc.

We even fell in love with the tiny elevator who would speak to us in French (we were assuming she was telling you what floor you were on).

Because its so old the elevator was retrofitted so plan to send your luggage up on it's own if there are two of you.

We were a short walk to Le louvre, musee d’orsey and Luxembourg gardens.

The hotel is located in an excellent part of the Latin Quarter, right near the Pont Saint-Michel, the Metro, Luxembourg Gardens and the vibrant food and nightlife scene.

This historical "beat hotel" is on the left bank of Paris near  Notre Dame and within walking distance of the Louve, Musee D'Orsay, the Luxembourg Gardens, and many other sites you will want to visit.

It is an easy walk to the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Sorbonne, the Marais or Luxembourg Gardens.

You are in walking distance from everything - Notre Dame, the Marais, the Louvre, Luxembourg Gardens, yet you are on a quiet street.

This hotel is not suitable for those physically handicapped, the elevator was very small and stairs narrow and steep, we loved them anyway!

Madame is very proud do the tiny elevator so don't worry about climbing flights of stairs.

The lift is small as expected in a building of this age and it sure beats carrying bags up stairs.

Main big problem in Paris heat- no refrigerated air conditioning, they only have evaporated air conditioning.

The air con could have done with being turned up a notch in the hot weather.

We were besieged with electrical issues due to a faulty iron…twice it blew all the power points on two separate days….ultimately fixed after a couple of requests.

As regards the rest of the hotel, the service at the reception desk was poor in respect that we had explained the air conditioning issue to one of the receptionists who was going to fix the matter whilst we were out.

The website, app, and every document related to this hotel reservation indicated A/C would be available.

The air conditioning wasn't working the room was sooo hot!couldn't open windows because of noise.

The air conditioner struggled to keep up with the warm summer days in Paris, so sleeping was a bit sticky,

Stuff tells me that "AC is the same in all rooms".

The night before we left they offered us to change rooms, providing not feedback on the AC.

On the first night we arrived the air conditioning wasn't working satisfactorily, we reported this to reception and the next day they said they had changed the filter and it was (very slightly) better,

After 3 nights of waking up drenched in my own sweat and having considered all options (virus, aircon, stress, etc) I finally checked the bed and realised Novotel, a 4 star hotel, uses plastified matrass covers right under the bed sheet.

No portable heater available even I requested for one.

This could be such a good hotel if it would only do something about it's heating system!

Even so, we had only one outlet that was working in the whole unit.

For a 4 star hotel, the a/c definitely wasn't up to scratch and the breakfast was a mess - they could arrange two areas especially during high season.

The only complaint I might have was the air conditioning was not too powerful
