Tej was awesome helping us with breakfast, we would definitely come back!

Hotel is in a great location on a quiet street, with a staff thats adorably nice and attentive… especially Tej who rocks it during their included breakfast!

All the details - free minibar in the room, free snacks downstairs, excellent breakfast with multilingual staff, very clean rooms, blackout curtains… We were very happy here and will absolutely return.

Tej was very friendly and helpful in the breakfast room,

Tej really livened up breakfast, and had great conversation.

And I most say personal is very gentle, especially TEJ at the breakfast area, he is the best!!

Breakfast was included in our booking, and special thanks to Tej who was extremely friendly and welcoming, going above and beyond for his guests.

He had been so helpful the entire of breakfast that morning.

From the front reception desk to Tej (who will take care of your every need) and the breakfast staff we were treated like old friends.

but above all, the breakfast out of this world thanks to Tej.

TEJ went above and beyond every morning to ensure our breakfast was superb.

Tej in the breakfast area was especially helpful and friendly.

Tej's service during the breakfast buffets was particularly brilliant - he was incredibly warm, friendly, and struck up a good conversation!

The breakfast was very good, choice of cereal, breads, hot food, pastries, cold meat, cheese, juices , tea and coffee.

While having our breakfast which was very delicious we met a staff member named Tej.

On the Sunday we checked out at 10.30 and the hotel was keeping our cases until 6pm as we had a late flight.

517) was also at the foot of the stairs to the 6th floor, for which the lift stops at the 5th floor, meaning everyone has to carry their luggage up and down the stairs - resulting in bang, thump, bang of cases up and down stairs.

although wasn't huge was big enough to fit us, our cases and others in.

I didn’t find it to be uncomfortable, I’m just noting this in case others are wondering (like I did).

On the last day of our stay, she offered a late check out for one room in case we needed it.

Now the hallways are so narrow that my suitcase didn’t fit, I had to put it on the side.

In this case there were about 8-10 inches between the toliet and a partition wall - just about enough to sit down!

There is a consigne a baggage / left luggage facility should your room not be ready.

It's called the hotel Astoria Opera on the sign of the hotel in case you are confused.

If I have to give a negative, as a parent we were on the sixth floor and right outside our door was the stair case.

As is often the case with international flights, we arrived very early (~8am).

Location is perfect, within 3 min from the metro station (Rome), walkable distance to Galeries Lafayette, Moulin Rouge, we even walked from the hotel to Champs Élysées and we were just fine (but you can take a metro that takes you right in front of the Arc de Triomphe which is easier).

Ideal as 4 mins walk to the Metro station and approx 30 minute walk to Champs de Elysee.

It gives you a direct line to Champs Elysees, Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and La Fayette.

We have stayed here twice now and would highly recommend it. The hotel is well situated, about 4 stops on the Metro from the main sites (Arc de Triomphe,  Champs Elysees, Eiffel Tower etc.)

the hotel is near the underground : station (i) Rome (line 2) can lead you to the top of champs Elysées, and (ii) Place de Clichy (line 13) can lead you to down of champs Elysées.

Within moderate walking distances are the Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysee, Musee D'Orsay, Musee Louvre, Cathedrale De Notre Damme.

Montmartre, champs élysées, gallerie lafayette all within easy walking for moderately fit people.

Staff seemed quite relaxed about it instead of havibg it fixed immediately

Anyway its not terrible.

but please get the door fixed as it was a bit frustrating 🙂

While that's a big mistake to make, it was pretty clear that it was some kind of freak occurrence and not negligence, and the hotel went the extra mile and then some to fix the situation.

We had a small issue with our sink which was fixed quickly.

OH, our heater was broken and the staff couldn't fix it, so they got us a heater for our room, which was nice!

Down to fixing one of the tours we  planned to go on, when the reservation was missing and we were so far from home to fix it ourself.

Such a convenient area, with clean nice room, stylish lobby and bountiful free snacks!

Hotel Astoria is indeed a beautiful hotel with lovely rooms.

Great location, clean room, friendly staff.

The rooms are so cute with a decent amount of space as well.

The rooms are decently spacious, the bathrooms lovely, and the lobby is welcoming.

Wonderful stay, the facilities were incredible and the rooms were luxurious and well-maintained.

The fridge is stocked daily and free of charge with water and soft drinks and everyday in the hotel from 2 pm there are free soft drinks, water and snacks available and you can also access this at their other 12 hotels around Paris  by showing your room key.

The rooms were super clean and the bed was very comfortable.

We stayed here as a family, with two rooms with doors that could be kept open behind one door.

But what we loved the most was our breakfasts, mostly because of the dining room staff led by Tej.

Tej, the server in the dining room was fantastic.

We had a family suite which had two rooms behind one door.

I had a problem or a couple of nights with other guests running down the down the hall after a night out, and then I could hear every single thing they did as they were getting ready for bed.

but was not available for this single night, so we ended up at Hotel Astoria.

Recommend this for couples or single travelers that don't mind exploring and taking the Metro!

I was apprehensive as a single traveller, having been ripped off in London previously,

The whole time we have been here we haven't seen a single thing out of place or unkept.

There were three of us, one couple and one single.

The rooms are regular size, bathrooms are tiny

Received 2 rooms- one very spacious for three with a cute terrace and a bath and the other one was tiny, internal with a view to the corridor.

A small desk and of course a small bathroom.

The room itself was very small and the bathroom is very close to the bed.

although the bath was a bit small, warm water always ran when we needed it.

The shower was tiny ie if you dropped the soap it was entirely possible to switch the shower off with your behind.

We loved our stay at Hotel Astoria,  The front desk and snack area had the most friendliest and helpful people.

He was really friendly,  helpful and also funny.

Wow - everyone here is kind, accommodating, professional, and welcoming.

We were very happy for the staying, happy for the team at the Reception (Regards to Mrs Florence and Mr. Stéphan), happy for their way of treating the guste.

Tej and Merly were very friendly and helpful.

What makes it special are the staff—very friendly and helpful especially TEJ and Sid! If you need anything, look for them :)

Everybody was very helpful despite my extremely rusty French.

The staff was friendly and Merly was very welcoming.

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Tejpal Singh.

Of course Tej was a highlight too- incredibly helpful, funny and friendly.

A polyglot, very accomodating, charming and sensible man who will ensure that you feel at ease and don't lack anything.

He also helped us out whenever he could, and I really appreciated his kindness.

We had to have our keys reset, because we got locked out, of our room, and we had to call to figure out the a/c, because our room was stuffy.

The main reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the air conditioning in the rooms is not good.

but not great, had to keep the drapes drawn in the afternoon to help control the heat, hotel did nothing to remedy this, they finally sent me a tower fan which just blows hot air.

The only minus would be that the airco in the bedroom was too weak.

but not cold; however we are Americans and used to air conditioning!

We showed them proof of the rate we had accepted.The air conditioning in the children's room did not work properly throughout our stay, even after the hotel said they had solved the problem.

The thermostats heat the room no matter the setting.

My daughter had no hot water the first day of our 6 day visit and a fan was brought to her room as her air conditioning was not working.

The conference facilities were not so good, poor air conditioning left the rooms unpleasantly hot.

The carpet is dingy, the air conditioning is barely functional.

Our room was too hot with a tricky thermostat, so they found us another well-appointed room right away.

Surprisingly the impressive historical background is not suffocating.

We were moved to two other rooms and the air conditioning did not work in one of the rooms, so another room had to be found.

Perhaps I needed a guide on how to work the heating/cooling unit,

We call and they bring two fans, saying you cannot put on the a/c when the system is on heat.

As many other travelers have stated the air conditioning is completely not reliable.

Needs remolding of carpets and air conditioning units in each room.

However, they did not fix the air conditioning issue despite asking 2 times.

There was also a loud noise from the air con due to general wear and tear which did keep us awake.

- Breakfast is good, no queue for omelettes or other cooked eggs.

Treat your self ..My son is still buzzing from the 5 star hotel Treatment ..Especially the breakfast delivered in the room by 2 staff  .treated like royalty.

We very much enjoyed breakfast and the pool area to relax each day.

The staff at reception, dinner, breakfast and other things were very nice.

The pool is superb, breakfast in line with expectations and dinner at ‘La Veranda’ restaurant was quite proper too.

The reception/check-in ladies, the woman hosting breakfast and the room service staff were all very friendly and efficient so no complaints there though.

We had the most wonderful experience in Versailles, together with a beautiful room, excellent breakfast en wonderful swimming pool.

in breakfast those young female attendance tend to group non-white together in overcrowded main area While the airy and spacious  Terrace reserve for white only.

Hotel breakfast is buffet only and a total free for all, if you come late they will run out of things (no more eggs, out of most fruit, etc).

The food was delicious and wait staff were incredible.

The breakfast buffet was gourmet and available in the Veranda or the formal dining room.

From pulling up to the hotel with spectacular bellmen, to checkin and then assistance in getting our necessary Covid test for return to U. S. , the bar, the Veranda restaurant and breakfast there were no negatives.

Easily the best morning buffet we had in all of France.

The hotel offers free shuttle rides back to Paris, either Opera or Champs-Elysees.

Sadly this restaurant was closed then for a conference and we were made to eat in another restaurant which felt, in view of Covid, very crowded with much coughing.

However they closed (there was no fire) and it really made a lot of noise each time a person would go through the heavy fire doors.

I had noticed that the website indicated that the restaurant would be closed for renovation and would open just a couple of weeks before our arrival, so timing was perfect.

The gate was already closed and there was a security guy in the front that was supposed to let late-arrival guests in.

Their is no bar as such except for the annex type bar that was closed ON NEW YEARS EVE.

The main Gorda Ramsay restaurant was closed, so we ate twice at the GR Veranda restaurant.

The visit started out badly as Versailles palace was closed during our visit because of a strike, we did not find out until we arrived.

On arrival day 1 - 5pm Restaurant was closed, dined on the veranda where we ordered 2 steaks @ 55$ each, they were not good.

On the day of our departure, we checked out, left our bags to head to the palace (which was closed on Monday, our only full day there).

I also had to deal with a station being closed and being re-routed.

We did not get to try Gordon Ramsey's restaurant for diner because it was closed,

Issues, they should tell us at check in that Versailles is closed on Mondays.

A Gordon Ramsay restaurant (which was closed while we were there, not sure why) But they do have a "Terrace Restaurant" and if the weather cooperates you can sit outside and look over what apparently was the pasture that Marie Antoinette had her lambs, there still there.

by the time we got there they were mopping and cleaning up the pool area and basically closed early without the front desk knowing.

It also was a bit disorganized -- with considerable confusion concerning bags, the main restaurant was closed, the bar only has "house wine" (this is France !

The pool was a little cold the 2nd day- maybe the doors need to be closed!

Overall poor experience from checkin to room maintenance and not getting the room we paid for due to unadvertised renovations that have closed two of the 5 floors.

Here's why:

The Pro's
- Location, it is only a couple of minutes from the side entrance to Versailles, perfect for early morning entrance or the evening firework and fountain show.

Location is great ' adjacent to the Gardens.

This hotel is located very close to the Palace of Versailles which is very convenient.

Perfect location - just next to the Versailles, it's literally a few minutes walking distance and seen from the window.

The hotel is located very close to the Palace (see my separate review on Chateau Versailles).

The hotel is literally across the street from the palace so location cannot be beat.

The location is superb for visiting the Chateau and gardens - it's a short walk to one of the gates.

The hotel is beautiful & in a great location - being close to Versailles & the town.

In terms of positives, the hotel is wonderfully situated on the edge of Versailles, you could not ask for a better location.

I really enjoyed my stay with this Waldorf hotel, as it has a unique location close to the palace of Versailles.

The location is simply superb; it is right across from the side entrance to Versailles, meaning that you can enter in the morning and have the gardens totally to yourself.

The staff were wonderful and the location and grounds beautiful.

Rooms starting at €250 is not bad for the location.

The hotel is located next to the park entrance of Versailles very nice and it is a 15 min walk to the main entrance of the Chateau.

The service, the location, the staff and the food was very good.

but with a few improvements/pushes from management to elevate the guest experience this could be a great option to the central Paris five-star properties, many which frankly are not worth the exorbitant room rates they charge.

Upon confronting the newly promoted manager she laughed and hung up the phone when I asked for GM.

Since it was Sunday, and they apparently had no manager on duty or anyone with authority they could get me in touch with (at a luxury property, they had no manager on duty on a Sunday at 10am?

but after having taken away the item, there was no follow up from management where typically brand standards would dictate at least a card?

The General Manager and his Team should be proud of what they can control in terms of service which is at at least as good as any other 5 star hotel anywhere in the World and I have no doubt that when the required investment in renovating and updating parts of the hotel does happen, it will once again be as grand as it was when in first opened its doors as a Waldorf Astoria hotel.

I highly suggest management invests in some service training for their staff and learn how to be more inviting.

The supervisors / managers were very sharp and it was not beyond them to remove dirty dishes as they walked by our table.

Upon check-out I was told that a manager would contact me via email.

To become a first-class hotel, management needs to make major improvements to the restaurants.

It is clear that should you have an issue while staying you are unlikely to receive a response from the Hotel Manager or for him to care about your experience.

Despite all the lovely things about the hotel, it was let down badly, in our view, by the housekeeping and the failure of the senior management to make any kind of apology or response after the matter  was brought to their attention via email from my daughter while we were at the hotel.

I asked to speak with the F&B manager who was so rude to me.

Seriously - this hotel needs new management.

The manager tried to explain to me why this bath tub leaked. Really?

But I had to fight for that, the manager at first offered us two drinks.

To manager, please do not send me the copied response you give to everyone.

Unfortunately, the pool was shut "for maintenance" for the second summer in a row (this time in July, last year in August) -- either a poor excuse or bad management.

The General Manager wrote back personally insisting that we had to pay for a second room for our newborn twins because of the hotel's "fire code".

but it was slow and often staff had to be prompted for ordering, clearing etc.

Unfortunately the food and the service when ordering is very slow and chaotic and not on par with the expected level of such a place and at such prices.

They do not know how to serve wine, clear a table, stand around empty-handed, slow and indifferent.

Service in the terrace bar was slow and erratic and breakfast bordered on chaotic.

Unfortunately, the food was unsatisfactory and the service was slow.

The two most notable things that were off were the lifts, which are ridiculously small and slow and the bathroom, which had a couple of broken fittings and a poorly designed bath tub that took an eternity to fill.

Service was very slow and dirty plates were only removed after quite a long time.

Service in restaurants in slow, rude, and dry (but then again I gather the justification for the crowds there is the limited choices in the area perhaps?).

Take a drink and baguette as the food options are minimal and queues long, service VERY slow (seems to be a French characteristic)

Nothing too special for a Christmas brunch..
Not to mention pretty much everyone had bookings yet they made all the guests line up for 15-20 minutes since they have really slow seating arrangements.

though is the slow service (especially at the Gallery Bar), lack of follow through from staff (I asked a question from someone at the La Verandah restaurant and she said she would check with the chef and never returned), and staff who are unable to communicate with guests unless you speak French.

Room service was also a little slow this time,

Let down by slow breakfast drinks service (and toaster not working), some slight stagnant water smell in room and disappointing view on 1st floor.

but staff a little stiff and slow with service, otherwise great.

We thought the service was slow and there were times we wondered if the staff remembered we were still there.

A lovely tree lined street with very limited and slow through-traffic, that culminates in the golden entrance to the Versailles park and estate.

we are there to celebrate our only anniversary , the hotel just spread rose petals on the floor which half of them has change colour and begin to smell It makes the room looks dirty.

Th bad:
During our stay, the entire lobby smelled like horse poop… I know, it sounds funny

I didn’t like that I had to walk through water to enter. Gross.

The furniture in the lobby bar area is filthy.

Smoking should be banned and enforced on the entire property - my wishful thinking.

Outdoor furniture is not maintained and daily clean - dirty chairs and ashtrays.

Never mind the odors that could not be evacuated.

Our first room smelled of cigarettes and we were moved immediately.

The breakfast was disgusting with pre-cut sliced cheese you find at the holiday inn.

They were tired and a bit dated and, the first room which we were allocated, was dark and dingy and stunk of smoke.

Some common areas are not really up to five star level: the pool area looked messy, outdated and had a horrible urine smell in the showers.

We got changed for dinner and frankly I was dripping with sweat when leaving the room.

but the only real problem with the building was the parking garage was in the under croft and the smell of exhaust fumes in the elevator was overwhelming especially when a classic car rally was leaving.

The balcony on the room was dirty with used cigarettes littering the ground.

However, the age of building is reflected in the draftiness and the scent of mildew in the hallways (attempted to be covered by a strong perfume) 

We had pre-paid our stay in full.
