Bathroom was a good size with nice toiletries and good to have a separate toilet room.

The rooms are well planned / amenities very good.

The toiletries in the room are great and high quality.

Lovely extras in room such as robes, slippers and Rituals products.

The Rituals shampoo etc., supplied are lovely and plentiful so save on the weight in the case.

Our spacious third floor room was actually a small suite with a Bathroom, combined sitting and dining area, a small kitchenette and a separate sleeping area.

This is the 3rd time we had stayed at the complex and as previously we found the hotel spotlessly clean, relaxing and with all the amenities and restaurants around the location is wonderful.

I liked the phone charging points and the UK socket in the bathroom.

Worth a mention, pool towels are included placed on a shelf in the bathroom, no faffing around leaving deposits or paying extra, when you need fresh ones, simply exchange them at the spa.

Generous suites at Eden Mar with separate bedroom and dining kitchenette areas and good sized bathroom.

Large comfortable beds, beach towels and robes, fridge and hob and much more.

Room was clean, beds very good and even a bath.

Didn’t have enough time to use the spa and some other amazing on site amenities so will be back, was sad to leave !

All  areas of the hotel are very clean with superb amenities.

It had a small table and chairs and the kitchenette was well equipped with a hob, fridge, microwave, sink, kettle, cutlery and crockery.

but have the benefit of the amenities of the larger complex.

Shower was nice and warm and we had plenty of towels.

The hotel complex has everything you need, places to eat locally (Try Chefe Steak House and Sea Basket near the Pingo Supermarket) and bus stops outside for trips in Funchal.

The complex was lovely and there was always plenty of available seating by the pools.

There were also 2 pool bars at either end of the complex.

There is a very good  Pingo Doce supermarket in the shopping mall that is "underneath" the hotel complex, and a fabulous ice cream shop (Venezia) on the promenade 5 mins walk away.

Excellent Hotel complex with lovely suite rooms with separate bedroom, living room and galley kitchen with microwave, fridge and hob.

Spent a wonderful week within the Eden Mar Complex.

This is a fantastic hotel complex in a wonderful setting.

The staff are excellent and the whole complex is exceptionally clean.

The pool complex was excellent, with options for sitting in the sun or shade.

There was an extensive breakfast buffet in the PortoBay Hotel in the complex.

There is a Pingo Doce supermarket under the shopping centre at the hotel complex, at the far end of the site nearest the sea, better value than the Spar supermarkets.

Got lost more than once in the hotel complex as it is joined to 2 other accommodations.

A great complex of 3 hotels within walking distance of the centre of Funchal .

This hotel is one of three on the complex.

We recognised many return visitors from three years ago, which is testament to the popularity of the Porto Bay hotel complex.

As I have said in previous reviews, the main asset to this hotel and resort complex is the seemingly unchanging staff, excellent throughout.

Free parking for about 50 cars outside the hotel itself, with access to more around the hotel complex.

We stayed at Eden Mar one of the Portobay hotels alongside Portobay and The Residence and so were able to enjoy the most beautiful landscaped gardens and pools, restaurants and facilities of all.

The gardens are large enough for you to wander and enjoy their orchid garden and the variety of sub-tropical plants or simply to relax on a sun-lounger or enjoy the many viewpoints out to sea.

The accommodation,food and facilities were greatbavd the customer service was outstanding first class 
The pools and gardens are delightful one is heated and goes inside where there are two inside pools.

.the breakfast was excellent, the pools and garden areas immaculate and the Happy hour a great place for a swift one or two before eating out at one of the numerous local restaurants.

It's like relaxing in the botanical gardens with a pool to keep dipping into.

Breakfast at Alfama is always lovely, delicious food in a peaceful setting around the gardens, a great way to start your day.

The gardens were well maintained and the promenade was just beyond them for an evening stroll.

We love the gardens, the plants, and sheer size of the gardens which are lovely to walk through.

Amazing gardens to walk around along with the pool areas.

Superb gardens and pools areas, always plenty of sun beds available with bar service in all areas.

Our favourite spot being right near the herb garden not far from the main pool, occasionally getting a waft of sweet smelling herbs as you lay relaxing in the sun.

We loved the breakfast, there was something to do for everyone, from the pools, the gym, the play area….beautiful gardens and great gym.

Lovely rooms, we had a ground floor superior room.

The hotel grounds are stunning, trees and flowers everywhere, very well maintained and the sun loungers are dotted all around the grounds so you don't need to go to the pools if you would rather relax in the gardens, plenty of shaded areas too.

We’ve stayed at the Eden Mar many times, the grounds are stunning,  the staff are extremely attentive, the reception area is always helpful in particular Manuela.

The hotel and grounds are spotless and well-maintained.

There was no problem to get four sun-beds together as the hotel grounds are very spacious.

The grounds and pools were great and there was never any noise or rowdiness, day or night.

The grounds and gardens are also so pretty.

You can use the facilities of the Porto Mare which is connected by the corridors, literally you just walk through the hotel or through the grounds and can use any of the swimming pools, bars and restaurants.

The grounds are amazing and well kept, really lovely surroundings and the pools were all clean and spacious.

We had a lovely suite, comfortable, spotless and with a super balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds and gardens.

The grounds are amazing: Thoughtful interesting planting, great views and excellent pools.

Travelling from Luxembourg we were able to avoid all that and could enjoy two weeks from 9 to 23 January.

The lunch at the pool bar was poor quality and expensive and the menu needs a revamp.

Air con poor, fridge was faulty as just filled with condensation instead of cooling.

One disappointment was the poor service at the bar area for happy hour at Oceana, only 1 waiter and with it being table service no other way to get a drink.

but got a poor response and no indication of the chances of an alternative.

After a shaky start, when we were diverted to Porto Santo due to poor visibility at Funchal airport, the weather was almost perfect for the remainder of our two week stay, with only the odd cloudy day and temperatures in the 20s, reaching 26C on a couple of days!

We received a poor welcome from a receptionist who was too busy talking to a colleague to even greet us.

The lighting in the bedroom area was poor with two dim wall lights and a light in the alcove/dressing table area, to actually see and find clothes in the wardrobe was a major task!

First impressions are poor as the entrance is down a side street with cheap bars and restaurants nearby

We thought that the entertainment was poor and amerturish and very little that was aimed at children.

The quality of towels in our room was poor this year, nearly every day one of our towels would be either threadbare or have  a hole in it.

The smell is obnoxious and added to the the rather poor attitude to customers we regrettably won't be staying there again.

The hotel interior in many hotels of Madeira in in poor maintenance condition,

I have seen many reviews commenting on the poor breakfast choice and at one time I may have agreed.

The Reps meeting with her lasted approx 1.30hrs and was informative and helpful so dont listen to any poor reports, yes some info we didnt need

While we were experiencing this cold food and poor service for a second time, we were informed by another holiday maker, that there was another much bigger and better restaurant that we should use in the sister hotel Porto Mar.

Loved our room with a lovely sunset view and a kitchenette that allowed us to cook some meals. I slept like a baby as the beds were comfortable and the blackout curtains kept out the morning " sun ! )

We had two superb meals in the Alfama restaurant and the buffet breakfasts had every single choice imaginable.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was amazing, the weather was brilliant and Funchal was fantastic.

Guests have access to two buffet restaurants for breakfast; we only attended the smaller one in Eden Mar as it adequately met our needs.

You can ask for vegan dish, and they have it in all restaurants.

The staff are excellent, food is good and the rooms are very comfortable.

Particular mention needs to go to Mary Paulo in reception, Felipe in the Alfama restaurant, and Ella in the Portofino bar.

Just a wonderful place, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, very comfortable rooms, excellent food in all the restaurants.

The restaurants were excellent for breakfast and buffet dinners.

There are lots of bars and restaurants around the hotel.

Lot's of great restaurants within a few hundred meters from the hotel.

Our 14th visit to the hotel,great staff ,great food very clean and the attention to detail in pleasing the guests  is second to none.

This was important as there was a problem with the drains which meant there was a strong smell of sewers from the toilet room.

but the design of the balcony directed the  cigarette smoke from the room below directly into our room and balcony.

I guess  it must be the chemicals / salts they presumably put in.

but the bad drain smell outside the Eden Mar was horrible and put me off the Lido area,

though there was a slight smell of drains in our bathroom.

but nearby) was a strange experience though as due to mask wearing and the restrictions of two people in the lift at any time and the majority being couples or small families I 
never actually managed to meet or have a conversation with any other guests staying there.

Regular visitors of the hotel seemed to get better treatment by hotel staff who at times turned a blind eye to their smoking in the outdoor restaurants or made sure they were served first.

Smoking is allowed anywhere around the pool area and you might have to move if you don’t want passive smoke.

But worse was when they smoked, the smoke was on our balcony and if like us, you hate the smell of smoking it was a big downside.

though is that we are non-smokers and all of the patios appear to permit smoking.

although all the rooms are non smoking they do allow smoking on the balconies and if you are unlucky enough to have chain smokers next door or below as we were it was virtually impossible to enjoy our balcony so from that aspect we were disappointed.

The room we were given was old, tired and smelly.

One worrying issue was that people we met going out and became friends with had to move rooms because of a drain fault during the night thus feeling sick and headache, the guy was an ex services engineer and said during recent refurb they may have installed the toilet wrongly thus sewage gas leaking.

Any negatives yes sorry I have one,smoking around the hotel we are none smokers and find it anti social especially around the pool areas

Our room had an occasional smell of tobacco smoke.

but worth a short break but can be very noisy at night  with smokers on their balconies into the night and in summer we expect it might be more busy with families and younger children staying.

The only problem we had is on occasions strong smells from the drains in the bathroom

As should a stricter control of where smokers can puff away on cigars and cigarettes.

but the corridors to the bedrooms were dated and smelled musty, they reminded me of a 70s hotel in Whitby or Skegness.

You can smell it all the way down to the ocean.

Staff are consistently helpful, friendly and efficient as they always are and the new arrivals are an asset to the hotel.

The staff and service is second-to-none, absolutely outstanding on level.

Brilliant NY Eve, choice of different meal options and then transport (to and from) to see the firework display from the concourse of the local football team, views over mountains and harbour.

The staff in the restaurant and at reception were polite and the hotel was fairly clean.

The reception staff are excellent with room requests and are very welcoming on arrival.

The hotel is kept very clean in all areas, all the staff are efficient and friendly, it’s great to see so many still there from when we first visited.

An excellent place to stay, very well maintained with very friendly staff.

The location and surrounding is perfect for many activities, the service and personnel is nice.

The room we had was super charming, and the bathroom was huge.

We had the junior suite for the 3 of us and the rooms were very large,  beautifully updated bathroom and we even had a private balcony and kitchenette area.

We so enjoyed our stay here- it was comfortable, had some amenities of home (small kitchens, etc…) and the most friendly, welcoming staff that speak great English and clearly enjoy their jobs very much; they work together as a team to deliver a 5-star experience for every guest.

We were very pleased with the modern update to the bathroom, very luxurious.

I loved the large room and the oversized bathroom was great.

The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable with modern bath facilities.

The rooms are clean, large by French standards and have all the amenities you will need.

The Hotel Tardif has a rich history going back to the early 1700's and has been beautifully updated with a balance of today's modern amenities while keeping its original beauty.

Our apartment was very large, with two bathrooms and  a small kitchen including refrigerator and stove with pans.

This suite offered two large rooms with en suite baths -- one each on separate floors -- above a gorgeous dining room and living room.

Our room and bath were quite large and sumptuous and over looked the garden.

The rooms are nice and the bathrooms are updated and spacious.

The room was beautifully decorated and the bathroom was spacious and lovely.

Choosing Hotel Tardif made the trip that much more enjoyable. We stayed in a junior suite which was incredible, fully upgraded room and bath (with a rainfall showerhead no less!)

but every aspect has been upgraded, from AC in each room to beautiful bathrooms to sumptuous sheets.

The room and bath were both spacious, and included all the necessities.

Very large, with a modern bathroom, located at the top of the grand staircase.

The rooms and baths were immaculate and well-appointed.

The bathroom has a full modern stand in shower with glass door.

To the right was the master bedroom, with a partial view of Bayeux Cathedral from a window in the eaves, and the master bedroom with a shower with absolutely fabulous water pressure.

We really enjoyed our sunny late afternoon wine in the gorgeous garden often talking with the other guests about our day.

We enjoyed the breakfast room, main sitting room, and gardens.

One night there was a band as a Bayeux 10k ran right thru the garden.

The hotel feels like a home and the gardens are so peaceful and tranquil.

The back garden was beautiful and I loved having breakfast there.

The breakfast overlooking bathe garden was a great way to begin the day.

Wonderful stay from the room quality and size, pool, garden area, location to town, excellent tour guide assistance, and overall trip assistance.

There are many choices of very comfortable and beautiful suites, a lovely courtyard, a delicious breakfast served in a dining room overlooking the gardens and such wonderful, attentive and cheerful hostesses that attended to our every need.

The garden and lawn are perfect for a glass of wine or a picnic.

I loved the open windows looking to the garden.

Our junior suite faced into the garden and was spacious and perfectly tranquil.

but an amazing courtyard and garden plus an additional swimming pool garden that was just perfect.

We love gardening and we spent quite some time admiring the gardens - works of art.

On nice mornings, we ate out on the terrace in a beautiful garden (at Anthony's suggestion).

The property, the gardens, the courtyard, the buildings, the staircase - all of it was magnificent.

The hotel is a venerable historic palace with a private center courtyard and gardens.

My husband and I were celebrating his birthday by visiting historical military sites in Belgium, Luxembourg and France.

Don't miss visiting the beautiful cathedral which is largely Romanesque, founded by William the Conqueror; allow several hours to visit the Tapestry Museum; and if interested in the WW2 history, visit the very well done museum which chronicles the several months of the invasion.

The cathedral and museums are well worth a visit.

The hotel is conveniently located between the Bayeux Tapestry museum and the cathedral - right at the heart of Bayeux.

the D-Day beaches and memorials, the Bayeux Tapestry, the Caen Memorial WWII Museum, Giverny on the way, Mont St.Michel, Chartres on the way back, etc.- great two night trip).

Our room was large, elegant and quiet, the breakfast was fantastic, the hotel's garden lovely and peaceful, and the hotel's location -- in the center of Bayeux -- very convenient for both exploring the town on foot and to make the short drive to Normandy's many World War 2 museums and historical sites.

The location is perfect, within easy walking distance of Bayeux Cathedral, the Bayeux Tapestry Museum, and loads of restaurants.

It is close to everything – the Cathedral, the tapestry, and all the museums, as well as  good restaurants.

Hotel Tardif is a beautifully preserved chateau hotel very centrally located in the heart of charming Bayeux, next door to the grand Cathedral and Tapestry museum and a short, 20'ish minute drive from Omaha Beach and other D-Day beaches.

The rooms and beds are comfortable and location is excellent, easy distance to the historic beaches and museums and a nice walk to cafes in Bayeux.

We were with 4 other couples from the WWII Museum tour and we all had a great time in the evenings out on the terrace talking, eating cheese, crackers and MASSIVE amounts of wine.

Centrally located, just across the road from the cathedral and a two minute walk to the tapestry museum.

We stayed three nights and used it as a base to do the Normandy Beaches / memorials and museums.

We selected this hotel because of its location to historic central Bayeux, the manor house look of the property, the free parking on site, proximity to the D-Day beach museums and sites, the beautiful garden and the satisfying free breakfast.

The British Cemetery (WW II) and World War II Museum are a 15+ minute walk.

Hotel Tardif is ideally located between the cathedral (which you can admire from the garden or the pool) and the tapestry museum.

The location is terrific since you can walk to the "downtown" area of restaurants and shops, to the cathedral and to the tapestry museum.

It is absolutely centrally located, steps away from the cathedral and from the tapestry museum.

The location cannot be faulted with the Tapestry Museum and the cathedral just down the street.

The Normandy Museum is a short walk away and the somber memorials of D-Day and its aftermath are not far away.

We were within seconds of the cathedral, and minutes to shopping and restaurants.

They offered to make reservations at restaurants for us both nights.
