Lots of options on the menu and we had the option of sitting outside (covered) or inside with views of the bay.

It's on the top story and overlooks the whole bay.

The room we booked had a gorgeous view of the ocean and bay; windows open hearing the waves.

Since we postponed our trip until August, we will able to get a bay view and it's so beautiful!

The view of the bay was great and everyone on the hotel staff treated us like we were the only ones there.

Speaking of walking, the bike/walk paths adjacent to the hotel offer spectacular views of the bay and coastline.

I used the jacuzzi on the top floor to enjoy the Monterey Bay view and was not disapointed.

Checked into the hotel a little early and was able to walk the entire Cannery row from our proximity from the Hotel.

Oysters at Schooners  amaze.. this place is  close to Cannery row  so lots of fun shops  .

Everyone here was very friendly, from the valet guy who complimented my ridiculous otter shirt, to the very kind bartender, to anyone you passed in the hall.

As soon as we arrived, the valet attendants were very friendly and took the time to explain exactly how I could request my vehicle should I need it during the weekend.

Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the friendly reception staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

The staff from valet, front desk, hostess, waitress, and maids are professional, friendly, and always helpful!

The entire staff was welcoming, friendly, and very professional during our stay while we were temporarily displaced from our home because of recent flooding.

It's clean, always updated, the staff is friendly and accommodating and it's located in one of the world's most beautiful locations.

but there are other hotels that provide this for less expense.

In comparison, this hotel was less than stunning with no extra amenities and cost more than $700 for an inland room with a view of a dirty, old building and parking lot.

The only thing that could have been better was we had to pay for the lunch in multiple installments and we would have a preferred a deposit and final payment.

Along with other costs too such as concierge being the only option for parking at $40 a night.

The reason for giving it only 3 stars is that it's very overpriced for what it is.

Nothing feels cheap here (except the plastic shower heads) and every staff member I encountered was so well-trained.

We ate at Schooners for breakfast which was delicious and while we thought some of the items were expensive the view and staff made up for it.

Still waiting for a call back and hope they can resolve with a bit more class one would expect from a 4 star, expensive hotel.

If you are going to charge a rate that would make most people’s sphincter pucker, at least make sure that the rooms and amenities are representative of the price being charged.

I placed a $70 + tax + tip food/drink order.

I got a conference rate discount so the per night cost was a bit less,

This expensive property does not have a swimming pool, only 2 hot tubs a hike from our rooms.

i was 32$ per day which is crazy, on the top of the room price

Finally, as we were checking out the next morning we called the Valet (which you pay $35/a day for btw) and the assistant tells us he'll have our car ready.

The rooms are very over priced and in poor condition.

Breakfast in the room was expensive and disappointing.

The overall value is not matching up to the price they charge per night per room.

Not impressed with the room for the price we paid.

The room itself is way overpriced for being as outdated as it is.

Parking is valet-only ($32 a night) and there is a room tax that doesn't show up in the base online price. .but.

Had to pay $330 on top of an already an expensive room for a regular bad.

Room seemed overpriced for standard hotel room.

Our room was nearly $900 a night and probably could have/should have found a less expensive room

but room rates are excessive for what you get.

but only when we can afford to get deals on room rates (I’m fairly poor, so I’m sure average income people would have a little less problems).

- It is shocking that for the room price there isn't even a $20 breakfast included.

The only down side to staying here is that you have to use their valet parking at $32/night which adds to the price of the room.

Very expensive room (stayed in bay suite) and in room service was just terrible.

The dated decor was not at all what we expected given the lofty price of the room.

The rooms overlooking the bay are absolutely stunning and being able to hear and see the ocean and to watch the beautiful wildlife is magical.

We were looking so forward to staying again for 3 nights and selected a harbor  view room to enjoy our mornings in the room with coffee and the harbor view.

The Room - Our room was overlooking Cannery Row.

We were in a booth  in the center of the room and had a great view of the water and other diners.

We opted for an Ocean View room which was well worth the additional expense.

Afterwards, you just heard the waves right outside the room and sea lions (faintly) at the Coast Guard pier; all very pleasant.

We got a corner ocean view room that was beautifully decorated.

but if i return, i may ask for a higher or further out partial ocean view room.

I always get a harbor or ocean view room to be able to enjoy the crashing waves at night.

The room itself was breathtaking, both in the comfortable furnishings and classy decor, to the literal wraparound views of Monterey Bay and all her splendor.

Our room overlooking the harbor was lovely.

We had partial ocean view room, we could watch sea otters with binoculars.

Check-in was a breeze and our rooms had a great view of Cannery Row.

The hotel staff treated us like royalty, our room overlooking Monterey Bay was stunning, and the lobby/public areas were beautiful.

We have stayed here several times, and have found that the ocean view rooms are inconsistent, and many have partial views of the dining room or a roof as part of the balcony.

Stunning views from so many spots at this hotel, including our partial ocean-view room, from which we saw otters frolicking in the kelp beds (bring binoculars!)

There were a few other issues with our harbour view room which was located at the far end of the building that houses the spa.

We had the perfect room over looking the ocean for a beautiful sunrise.

Dining was delicious and the views from our room (harbor) were well worth it.

We remarked to each other several times during the weekend how pleasant, welcoming and professional the staff were.

Aside from the spotless and well-furnished rooms, our favorite is the staff!

Special shout-out to Hil, thank you for being so sweet and so helpful and so accommodating.

The general manager and every staff member does their best to make your stay exceptional!

Chelsea Corona at the front concierge  was so sweet and  very helpful and suggested Osteria Al Mare for dinner.

This is an exceptional hotel and has absolutely everything : comfort, style, excellent location, courteous and professional staff and modern facilities.

Keith (valet) was great, Pascal at reception lovely and Abby at breakfast brilliant.

Of all my travels, this is the best hotel I have ever stayed at and each person working at the Monterey Plaza consistently provided exceptional service—including the valets, front desk and housekeeping.

Special shout out to the staff, to Chris, the spa and gym team, and of course the wait staff and bartenders at Schooners.

Incredibly helpful and professional and was able to get us into a room that met our needs.

Hence did not cut the bath room floor at bottom to let air in so the non fan exhaust will work , ie you need ingress air and egress air so the Oder can leave let alone keeping the mirror free from fogging up.Dumb..bring your own air wick., or matches.

Oh, before I forget…The management has to do something with the heater controls!

Second negative is that there's no heating in the bathroom.

Cons: I felt that they need to upgrade the rooms with a modern AC.

Maintenance in our room was haphazard with wonky wall lights, an exposed sprinkler head, sloppily installed vent over shower (that didn't appear to work), and patchy paint repairs.

I do agree with another reviewer that it might be nice if the rooms were a little better ventilated as, even without us having used the fire, the room smelled of wood-smoke throughout our short stay.

Large windows are the only source of ventilation, no AC.

The air was quite chilly there which was good because the hotel does not have air conditioning.

First, since there is no air-conditioning in the room, the windows need to be opened or cracked to get some of the ocean breeze.

It was freezing cold 60’s in the room in the morning

The next day we left the windows open, the curtains closed and the ceiling fan on while we were gone for the day.

We were told to open the windows if we were hot as this property has no air conditioning.

There is no A/C and the windows don't really open well, so the room is extremely hot.

This is not a differentiator--they all lack AC.

The only thing is that the room didn't have AC

The closet had drawers built-in and even a fan that can be used for moving air or providing a bit of background noise.

Afternoon wine and cheese was enjoyable as was the breakfast, which is delivered to your room.

Surpassed our expectations for room, daily wine and cheese, and room service continental breakfast.

Sea view rooms have the view bit not the balconies I believe Complimentary and generous cheese and wine at 4;30 each day.

During our stay we had fresh fruit, toast, coffee, juice, hard boiled eggs, and cheese.

After settling in, we headed downstairs to enjoy the free wine and cheese.

Spindrift has a lot of nice touches, like real-wood fireplaces, decent afternoon wine & cheese, and a very classy breakfast served to your room.

The staff was friendly and efficient; the breakfast delivered to our room was welcome, and the nightly wine and cheese in reception is a nice touch.

We enjoyed the breakfast brought to the room and complimentary cheese and wine from 4-6pm.

They also have wine hour (with cheese and crackers) from 4:30-6.

Breakfast delivered to our room each morning by a smiling cheerful staff member, the wine and cheese in the lobby had a nice touch.

There is complimentary afternoon wine and cheese in the hotel lobby, and a continental breakfast room service.

The room was nice the bed was very comfortable we also enjoyed the wine and cheese in the evening sitting downstairs by the fireplace.

Kids loved the beachfront access and close proximity to the aquarium.
