Transport to both theme parks is via the little boat to city walk.

Easy access to Universal City Walk and the Universal parks.

Great Location for all things Universal with the walk, Taxi Boat and Shuttle bus all very convenient to get you to City Walk and all the Parks.

The boat shuttles to and from the parks/ city walk to Loews Royal Pacific made everything so easy and quick.

Both options mean security is a lot easier to do than facing the bustle of City Walk each morning.

It was a 7 min walk to the city walk, self parking was easy, Valet guys were helpful and friendly.

Lot of possibilities to dine in or go to the city walk.

The boat to City Walk is really helpful and we also enjoyed the short walk on occasion.

Excellent location, just a short walk from City Walk and the Parks.

If you are into walking for exercise, there is a nice walking path from the hotel to City Walk and the Parks.

Just take a quick walk to city walk or you can take a boat or bus if there is rain.

We used the garden walkway to get to and from City Walk (and the parks) many times.

This resort is amazing, close to Islands of adventure, City walk and universal studios.

It’s an easy walk to city walk and the parks and the express passes are a MUST!

The location to the theme parks and city walk is a huge plus point of this hotel along with the major benefit of express passes for the attractions.

We loved thecoation as it was ose in proximity to Universal theme parks and city walk.

The location of this hotel allowed the feasibility to walk to Universal Studios, Island of Adventure and City Walk.

However, the cost of  hotel stay was pre paid via Booking.com, when I checked in they take card details for any additional cost, no issues,

Bust my credit limit and gave me a ton of pain with lack of credit and fines while on holiday.

We did not have any billing or check out issues.

We were charged for a rollaway bed we never ordered.

We hired a car for our 9 day stay and in hindsight didn’t need it for the time we were at Universal and probably should have just hired mid stay to save on the daily parking charge of approximately $30 per day.

There's no issue with them charging your credit card ASAP,

but I am taking the time to comment because if you charge that much for a rollaway, the process should not be this poorly executed.

Be warey and check your credit card bills carefully.

We were given two small bottles of water each night along with a post card.

A very nasty upsetting letter was placed under my door on Sunday, 8/6 stating my credit card payment had been declined.

Moved to a lower resort at the promise of a lower price (had to pack up within 10 minutes) and were charged full price for the replacement resort with much fewer ammenities.

Having said that, considering that the hotel charges $15 a day if you do want to request a microwave, couldn't they at least provide one or two community microwaves someone in the main building?

The bellhop services came to ask if we needed help after we had spent 5 mins getting all our bags out of the taxi and were rolling them into the lobby - felt a bit late to react
- no towels provided at the door when guests are caught in torrential downpour therefore floors all slippery and wet 
- room key provided on a card - seemed old compared to the magic band
- map provided of the hotel and parks seemed cheap, printed on pieces of paper from last year
- the featured area in the foyer containing fountains that should be the ‘wow’ factor when you first enter the lobby is a designated smoking area.

Also, we split the room cost between families and now we cannot get the billing correct.

After trying all day, we went back to the hotel to be told that it was not activated for non-residence as the charges may take longer to appear.

You’re charged $28 a day for self parking, and don’t expect a microwave in your room.

It was pretty awful, especially when we received our bill with a 18.25% service charge that was NOT the tip.

I feel sometime like this is strategic where they intentionally delay it in the hopes of you being there to provide a tip.

The staff made you feel welcome from the moment you arrived, and nothing was too much trouble.

They made me feel like I was on vacation when I was actually working there at a conference for 4 days.

We recently got engaged and everyone really made us feel special.

The rooms are dull, unwelcoming and didn’t feel clean.

The hotel grounds felt tropical and beautiful.

but at times it felt like they in the room with us.

If you’re feeling tired you can take the water taxi there and back.

We rested on the zero entry side with the sand and it was cute and beach feeling!

Tiffini was lovely on reception and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome at the start of our visit.

Very clean including the pool are, we felt safe.

The guest bathroom needed updated with a new sealer, would make it look and feel luxurious.

These feel like basic functioning amenities which should be at the core of this level of hotel.

She found me a lovely room where I felt more comfortable.

From the front desk, to the concierge, to the restaurant staff, we felt like everyone went above and beyond to ensure we were cared for and that our daughter had a wonderful birthday.

Self parking is overpriced at 28 dollars a night to park in an open lot that is not close to the hotel.

What I liked :

- High quality beds
- Great conciergerie
- Many services provided
What I did not like :

- Too loud, poor room phonic isolation
- Food is overpriced
- Universal Express Pass doesn't apply for Volcano Bay
- Room theme is very poor and not adequate with the standard.

However, if you drive, there is a $29 per night parking fee.

While the hotel may seem expensive, it comes with UNLIMITED Universal Express Pass.

Had to pay nightly rental fee (which is taxed) for a microwave.

Not a great impression when the rollaways cost money and you are staying at a $400+/night hotel.

In my opinion, Holiday Inn Express has better rooms for $500 cheaper.

This is quite an expensive hotel (£362 for the night)

It was dirty and old, and smelled a little, and parking was overly expensive at $30/day,

For the price of the stay, that's too much of nickel-and-diming of guests.

but not the original assigned room or type I booked, reserved and paid for.

The shop in the lobby (Tuk Tuk I think it is called) has a limited range on offer and is very expensive (two bottled drinks and two bananas came to just under $12).

Work out area not a premium, half size the size of the Sapphire, not as clean and feels cramped.

but with a few really annoying flaws, which at this price is not really acceptable.

We found that super helpful we didn’t have to pay for water.

Disappointing considering the inflated prices.

The resort is beautiful, staff is excellent (especially Kellie F)the food is great and the convenience to the parks (water taxi) is perfect!

Being so close to the parks and the water taxi is a great service never waiting  more than a few mins and fast passes to the park which are included really make it, we walked on to most rides with no q, kids loved it.

The pool was great, and so were the water taxis.

Taking the water taxi to the park was convenient.

The hotel is walking distance from Universal (10 mins) or you could catch the water taxi (easy to get on, also about 10 mins).

We used the water taxi and the walking path to get to and from the parks.

While both a shuttle and water taxi were available, we opted to walk down the beautiful path.

The water taxi is a quick convenient ride to the parks.

We had an amazing time and the water taxi to and from the hotel was very convenient.

You can walk to Universal in 5 mins or get the water taxi.

Water taxi stop just beside the pool and bus service to Volcano Bay just a little further on.

The water Taxi to the parks were super convenient!

We used the water taxi everyday to get to the parks, very fast and convenient transportation.

Very close location to the parks and you can take the water taxi, shuttle bus or even walk to them!

Water taxi is a really nice way to get about,

We enjoy the boat taxis that take to the parks and City Walk as well as taking you back to the hotel when you are done having fun.

Tips for the theme parks and just general friendliness whenever we saw her!

Loews Royal Pacific is a beautiful resort just a short 5-10 minute walk from the Islands of Adventure theme park.

We had a good time visiting the Universal Theme Parks.

We were able to check-in well ahead of time in order to use fast passes in the Universal Studios theme parks.

We choose this hotel because of its proximity to the Universal theme parks and the City Walk area.

Definitely the best theme park hotel hotels we have stayed in

We didn't have to rent a car due to the close proximity to the theme parks and City Walk.

The resort was within short walking distance to  the theme park with a nice nature view.

The location was perfect, only a 7 minute walk to the theme parks and city walk.

Free express passes, early admission to the theme parks, and transportation 
made a $500 a night stay worth the money, especially when you take in consideration for the cost of express passes.

Everything was excellent from the arrival, check-in, staff, getting our theme park tickets and the location was perfect.

Friendliest Staff we have encountered ever, unlike the other theme park.

My wife and I had a great time at Universal theme parks.

You know you’re paying way over the odds when it comes to these huge theme parks and associated hotels

It was close to all of the Universal theme parks and City walk which was nice.

The water boat to and from the parks is awesome.

The boat trip to the parks where a great way to start and end each day.

The opera singers were amazing 
The club lounge staff were great
The boat was excellent 
Just think twice this is not a premier resort the customer service is abysmal.

The onsite Starbucks is great and the boat ride to the parks is a plus.

Go to Portofino for the view of the harbor, for the singers on the balcony at night, for the tropical smell of the place, for the decor inside, maybe even for the Starbucks BUT after you have done those things, promptly hop back onto the boat and go stay literally anywhere else especially if its going to save you hundreds of dollars and days of headaches.

We did like the boat transportation to the theme parks and CityWalk.

The boats make it very convenient to get to the theme parks.

Our third trip here such an amazing place theming of the hotel is amazing feels just like italy three amazing pools, the villa pool feels like your staying at a billionaire's Italian villa, such a change from the craziness of the parks, so peaceful and yet only five minutes by boat away, or a 10 minute walk through the tropical Gardens it is truly paradise.

I have told anyone who would listen, this is the best themed luxury service hotel in the states and the fact its a short boat ride from the thrills and adventure of Universal cannot be beat.

There's just so much more to talk about, a quick boat ride to the parks or a stroll along the walkway taking you to the front door of Universal Studios.

So close to Universal walking or by boat.

Location is good and the bus and boat service is friendly and efficient.

The boat is very nice and comes frequently and provided the perfect opportunity to put on sunscreen.

Amazing hotel, very cozy place where the boats leave to the Universal parcs.

The grounds were beautiful, the pool very relaxing and the boat ride to the parks were very frequent.

Take an umbrella as boats don’t run if weather too stormy.

We never waited more than 5 minutes for a boat or bus to the parks.

The boat crews to take us to city walk were kind and fun.

We then went down to the club to have dessert and none of the cards worked.

it's a hefty charge to ask for one per day).

This hotel should be ashamed of themselves for charging $800 a night and then they have an inadequate accommadations.

We came to the room after picking up dinner, and the key cards did not work.

The on-site laundry offers detergent for a charge.

As with most hotels room service charges a $3 service fee & a 22% gratuity charge.

In addition, our ability to charge to our room was randomly disabled and had to contact the front desk to reactivate it.

Parking – you’re charged to self-park (boo!).

There were charges for $600 that I did not make.

but you can’t charge $300+/night and have shower curtains in the rooms and have outdated tile bathroom.

but when called Amex was told hotel was refusing to do so.

The only option was to have one delivered to the room with a $15/day charge added.

Turn to music and its charged for per hour/day or something.

At night I was able to charge my phone on my side of the bed,

I complained and they took off the charge,

The rest were broken or loose and could not be used for charging phones, etc.

It was easy getting our passes for the parks - you just go up to the machine in the lobby with your credit card and ID and voila, all printed along with any meal vouchers if you have those.

For the price that you pay employees don’t really go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

They come down to the pool and start filming and taking photos I felt like we were in a zoo.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived and felt transported to Italy on the water!

Visually appealing with a genuine Italian feel both inside and out, spacious rooms, and outstanding personalized service, the list of attributes goes on and on.

but far enough away from the action to make you feel you are in a stand alone Resort.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff are friendly and professional.. due to the layout of the hotel, it never felt crowded and the grounds were well worth exploring.

Portofino Bay Hotel was amazing, you actually feel like you are in Italy not Florida.

I felt like I got hassled for paying for really crappy food.

We always leave Portofino Bay feeling taken care of and appreciated as guests.

And while the staff were lovely I felt it lacked the small family resort feeling we love in our normal all inclusive vacations.

The resort is just beautiful and makes you feel like you are in Italy.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel, every team member went out of their way to make us feel happy and welcomed.

This benefit plus the ease of staying club level made this actually feel like a vacation.

The extra bed didn’t feel squashed in the room and as a family of 5 we were all comfortable.

We walked to it via the garden walk and on approach you really do feel like you’re walking in Italy.

Property grounds were always clean and never felt crowded.

This Universal Studios hotel is absolutely beautiful and really encapsulates the feel of Italy.

Comfortable beds, spacious room and bathroom, and everything felt clean and fresh.

The hotel is beautiful, it doesn’t even feel like you’re in Florida.

When we got in the room realising there was only one bottle of the expensive water my husband walked down to reception to say it was missing, I also texted

Also, there are onsite restaurants and their employees pay attention.

I would say YEAH definitely don't stay at Portofino for the price that is charged.

They did close the living room area off and did not charge us for that portion the first night, and then moved us the next day.

Workers will paint walls near your room and put fans that blast paint fumes into your room
Front desk are not knowledgeable on their own amenities such as when the pool closes

I have been coming to Universal for years and its sad to see how far Portofino has dropped in quality.

I think someone in charge at this particular resort wants this fragrance in overabundant amounts and I want to tell this person that you are making some of your guests sick.

Never paid parking at any Disney hotel. 2.

Over crowded, over priced, not as detailed as it used to be and not as clean as it used to be.

Paid for 2 rooms and one was a pull out couch that adults slept on (this was a very expensive room to sleep on a pull out couch).

Customer Service is to be provided to all guests that pay to stay at any property.

For a Premium Price, you do not receive a premium experience.

however I must say that honestly the prices were not too far off from where I live.

Over priced for what was a “motel” type experience.

The hotel is badly outdated and grossly overpriced.

In fairness we were given one night of compensation…after having a fit…which i think wasnt enough….the thing is for the price you shouldn't run into these issues for the price paid. Unbelievable.

Food sucks for what you have to pay for it and at every turn someone wants a Tip jor just doing there job.

The cost was $30 for ages 10 & up, $16 for ages 9 & under.

Water Taxi to the park was very convenient.

Water taxis are a huge plus for those who do not wish to walk.

The food, pool, staff, water taxi was wonderful.

I liked the convenience of having a Starbucks in the Piazza which is very conveniently located for me to get my coffee on the way to Water Taxi.

The water taxi was also a good experience.

Great transportation(bus and water taxi) to and from Universal Studios.

The water taxi to CityWalk and the parks are an additional perk.

The water taxis are easy to use and we never had to wait long for one to take us to the parks.

Taxi service to City Walk and Universal were convient and made getting around easy.

The water taxi made travel to and from the parks super easy, and we never waited more than 5 minutes.

We loved everything about the trip- the atmosphere, friendliness of the staff, always available for communication via texting with the front desk, beautiful pool, water taxis, restaurants.

The taxi service between the hotel & Citywalk is such a great perk.

We loved the water taxi to universal and  the little restaurants around the resort.

The water taxis to the resorts were so convenient.

but several Italian themed varied menus
Water taxi easy to use for main park access but also shuttle coach available if you dont like the water!

The price included so many extras that we saved money, not having to buy the Express Line Tickets, having the Water Taxi take us to and from the park every day, great food, great pools.

The water taxis made getting to the parks so easy and the on-site services were great.

Short water taxi ride to the parks, or a bus to Volcano Bay.

Convenient water taxi to the parks, plenty of restaurants to chose from without having to leave the property, and the room was lovely with a view of the bay.

We stayed at Universal’s nicest property  Portofino Bay.

I’ve been a big universal fan my whole life and have enjoyed staying here before

This is our 3rd resort we've stayed at on Universal's property.

It's a Two second walk to the ferry to universal and great restaurants on site.

The Universal Express pass that comes with the room is a gem; on some rides, our family were able to walk right on!

Will stay there again on our next Universal visit.
