We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed all our meals.

.and with all the available restaurants in Oaxaca, it is probably best to just have breakfast at the hotel
We have previously stated in Oaxaca at Casa Oaxaca and Palacio Borghese.

The room service is fast and the breakfast buffet is good as well.

We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant every day, and the buffet had every dish imaginable: beautiful fresh fruit, meats and cheeses, smoked salmon, pan de dulce, and an array of hot dishes.

The restaurant has delicious offerings for all meals of the day.

Finally make sure you enjoy the buffet breakfast which is one of the best I've had.

Despite that issue, the place is beautiful, there's a small gym, its location is great and we loved the chiminea fire at breakfast and the musicians.

In particular, the breakfast buffet offered a wonderful variety of foods for a very reasonable amount ($22.00USD) The coffee served is unmatched anywhere.

The breakfast restaurant has singers as well which was a treat!

I loved the pool, and their breakfast is quite good too!!

Breakfast buffet and cocktails were especially enjoyable.

As for the restaurant, the food was delicious.

Every aspect of our stay was excellent: beautiful spacious (super-high ceilings) clean room, gorgeous pool area, delicious breakfast (both local and international selection),  gardens, and concierge service.

We had breakfast each day in the hotel & it was superb.

This gorgeous garden setting restaurant in this historic property is one of my favorite places in the city for breakfast or coffee.

This a charming, very pretty, and very historic (16th century) former convent spread out among a few buildings.

The fact that it is in a historical building makes it special.

You have to sacrifice some comfort for the building and location.

The location of this historic Hotel ist just perfect, the surroudings beautiful and the rooms are very nice according to the historic building.

A convent turned prison turned government building turned hotel - this is a beautiful labyrinth of a building full of courtyard gardens and delightful spaces.

But there is obviously a reason this hotel with its lovely, historic building is not the number one place to stay in Oaxaca.

The central location, attentive and professional staff and the spectacular building is hard to beat.

The Quinta Real is one of the most visually stunning buildings my husband and I have ever stayed at.

Overall this is a beautiful building - of which Oaxaca has many.

The hotel was a place of historic importance.

Quinta Real is a sprawling gorgeous historical place that is a former convent in the 1800's.

Very good location for access to the historic district.

Location is right in the heart of historic old Oaxaca,  easy walking distance to many attractions, restaurants, shops and bars.

The hotel is an historic jewel, absolutely beautiful.

And we were being charged over $250/night for this privilege.

I gave her my credit card info and I got my confirmation number.

When my husband and I stated that breakfast was included, the clerk rudely rejected any deals with the Centurion AmEx card.

but of course when the charge came through it was for more.

There were hardly any sockets in the room to charge equipment and these were under a table in the corner and the bar shut at 6pm on a Sunday.

They only believed us when we produced our room key cards.

At the end of my trip, I found a charge on my card from the hotel for a minuscule amount.

When asked, the waiter said he saw my wife take a bite of my toast & thus the charge for 1 piece of bread.

We had a credit card on file from check in

Any additional devices incur an extra charge.

Also, I thought it was a bit much to charge for bottles of water.

Then there is the pettiness of allowing only 1 device connecting WiFi free of charge, second device is over $10 a day, just ridiculous, considering how much you are paying for the room.

Also we faced some problems at check-out, our bill was not accurate, charges of restaurant bills were added even we never had a meal at the hotel.

So this one in comparison does not provide enough for what they charge.

IF YOU WANT TO CONNECT A SECOND DEVICE THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT CHARGE.

Service indifferent, wifi barely works and they charge you for using the coffee maker in your room.

They checked us in at 7:20am, got us an upgraded room, and let us go to sleep in luxury for 3 hours before even given them our credit card.

Their Internet charges are high and the business center closes early.

If you charge me $5.41 for a coffee, then please have it be local and organic Oxaccan coffee and NOT FOLGERS CRYSTALS!

The guest rooms, as noted by others here, could certainly use a good refresh.

It combines old style charm with amazing efficiency.

From their hotel’s aesthetics (& cleanliness) to their staff’s accommodations, we were amazed at their attention to detail, expeditious/friendly customer service.

The architecture and ambiance was perfect and a great venue to relax and chill out, after sightseeing.

An oasis of calm surrounded by the bright, colourful, vibrant streets of Oaxaca.

The hotel ambiance was so serene - exactly what we were looking for.

This is one of the very few hotels in town that has double bed rooms and a more family-friendly atmosphere (compared to the hipster couples-oriented boutique hotels and b&bs).

The event was held at the hotel; the ambiance was beautiful and the staff was very attentive.

The service and ambience made up for it…it’s Oaxaca so all we had to do was walk 100M for great food elsewhere

And the hotel desperately needs a more comfortable and intimate bar setting.

Beautiful, comfortable and serene with the best service.

We found a fabulous guide who took us to Teotitlan and his relative’s home, where they showed us the painstaking, beautiful process from sheared and cleaning wool to spinning yarn, demonstrating all the natural dyes and the loom used to create intricate rugs whose patterns have very specific spiritual symbolism. Spectacular!

The hotel is a restored monastery which is George ours.

Beautiful architecture and interesting history.

Any decor  too sleek and shiny would feel out of place.

The staff was beyond friendly and helpful, the pool stunning, and the many walkways and gardens are just gorgeous.

The restaurant is lovely and has a picturesque garden patio with soothing live music.

Highly recommend staying or at least having a meal and exploring the gardens.

The inner gardens, the patios, the high ceilings the plants and trees make for a feast for the eyes.

The setting, at the edge of the gardens of a 17th-Century ex-convent was beautiful and generally quiet.

The hotel is set in a 15th  century monastery steeped in atmosphere with lovely cloisters throughout and shaded gardens .

Our room had a beautiful view of one of the gardens, which was the highlight of the otherwise unremarkable,

There were great gardens with many flowers and bird life, a lovely pool and many great places to site and watch the world go by.

The garden rooms in the middle have spectacular garden views and are very quiet.

This hotel was rich with history and has a fabulous location.

Had a wonderful short stay at Quinta Real Oaxaca its a great location close to all the interesting sites.

The location is superb, a block and a half away from Santo Domingo, with restaurants and most of the action within walking distance.

Quinta Real has a central location one block from the pedestrian-friendly street of Macedonio Alcalá or restaurants such as Casa Oaxaca and two blocks from Plaza Santo Domingo.

Centrally located and an easy walk to nearby sites.

And the location was right in the center of the action in Oaxaca City.

Great location, Walk or ride to numerous fun activities within distance of Quinta Real.

Charming and beautiful property , great location, along with very friendly and helpful staff made this an A+ stay.

This place is not worth the price in my opinion

but the rooms are dark, small and overpriced.

Eva Gallardo quoted our rate for two rooms for five nights.

We had a hard time with the  check-in process; the State taxes increased a lot the amount that had been offered by our credit card concierge.

although I might not have stayed here on my own due to the rather high price.

Outrageously expensive and yet tiny rooms, miniscule bathrooms, dated furniture.

They aren’t bad by any means; they just aren’t what you typically get from a hotel that charges rates like the Quinta Real.

but the price is too high for what you get.

While the rate has soared, precious little has been done to the guest rooms to justify the rate increase or to make them more comfortable.

American Airlines has made such an onerously cheap deal that
there is a no refund policy and that includes weather, Act of God - no matter if you can't get there  It would have been great to understand this when booking the hotel.

though twice the price, our room at Quinta Real was far smaller.

It is a very expensive hotel there are many beautiful hotel in Oaxaca and significantly cheaper.

I thought it was too expensive for what it was,

I originally booked regular rooms, and paid extra to upgrade my rooms (actually total cost no more than a LC regular room).

The bathrooms are quite old and shabby so this hotel doesn’t deserve the stars that it rates itself!

but by far the most expensive (and we stayed at upscale hotels the whole time).

The level of service does not reflect the price we paid.

Also breakfast is quite expensive and not amazing.

The rooms were beautiful and the food and service was excellent.

Various families could gather and easily interact for meals and to visit.

They were able to procure a late dinner order for us with room service.

There is definitely a spiritual/meditative aura about the place and we loved the Gregorian Chant music that was being piped in at the restaurant.

The food was great and the service at the hotel, restaurant and pool was great also.

The food offerings on property were great.

5 star meal and for those lucky enough to have stronger currency its heaven.

The service/staff, food, location and the property itself is just special!

.and some of the rooms are on the small side.

We only wish we had known in advance how small our room would turn out to be so that we could have booked a larger accommodation.

The rooms are small and we found them not at all comfortable.

However, we are totally not recommended this hotel because we faced misleading and misbehaving by the hotel and the reception staff - as following:
We booked in Booking.com a King Suit room and we got: a tiny room fare from the expectation of 5* hotel, one of the beds side with no dresser by the bed, no real wardrobe, bathroom with one sink instead of two as booked,  and no place our languages – put them under the table and under the sink (see my attached photos).

I had booked a “suite”and when we were shown the room it was really small.

I am OK with very small room,poor bathtub and shower,

Our room was small and claustrophobic, with only one small window.

However because the hotel was fitted into a convent, every room is different and many are quite small.

This place is centuries overdue for a refresh, old and tired, pealing paint, unkept pool area, tiny rooms and antiquated bathrooms not meant for two people.

Regular rooms are small and the exterior rooms are very noisy in the weekends.

I was disappointed when I first saw our room as it was so small and facing the street so was a bit noisy.

BUT 

The rooms are too small and some things need an upgrade.

(some of which cannot be avoided) For example, the bathrooms are small and the less nice rooms are small with less window light (like I said, it was once a monastery).

The rooms are tiny and very dated, especially the bathrooms.

Suites are actually small rooms with a big bed.

We definitely selected the hotel with this in mind and considering that the rooms are small and dark, there really wasn't an alternative space to relax and spend time in.

We stayed at two other hotels in the city center where the staff were genuinely pleasant and made you feel welcome.

We cannot praise the front desk and concierge staff enough for all their help, especially Jose who managed to solve all our Aeromexico problems with great professionalism and most importantly a big smile- we felt like honoured guests who could instantly stop worrying and just let the expert get on with things.

Quinta Real Hotel and staff (especially Emmanuel David Barrita Pacheco & Luis Ramirez Aguilar) were exemplary.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Very relaxing a great pool and the staff, always on hand to make our stay even magical.

The pool was relaxing and comfortable with attentive staff waiting to help in any way!

Staff all very friendly and coped with our lack of Spanish.

Excellent and attentive staff who took care of every need, beautiful property with rich history, authentic rooms that can be quiet and dark.

However, The Staff, was/is beyond accommodating they care!

The staff were all genuinely friendly and attentive to our needs.

Service was amazing and all staff were so helpful and accommodating.

The hotel was extraordinary and the staff was always accommodating and helpful.

The front desk was staffed with two reception desks, a concierge desk, and multiple porters at the door.

The Staff all speak English and go out of their way to help.

Our accommodations were lovely, well-appointed and stocked, and very comfortable.

but spotless and extremely well maintained.

The rooms were spotless and had more character than rooms at a chain hotel.

Spotlessly clean, bright and cheerful rooms.

It met all of our expectations : a  very comfortable kind sized bed, end table on each side of the bed, comfy pillows, great air conditioning, great shower, very, very clean, a room safe, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc.

The hotel was kept spotlessly clean and the in-house restaurant had some of the better food we had in town.

And the place was spotless, from the common areas to our room.

The hotel was very clean and quiet at night.

The location was perfect for my needs; just a few blocks from everywhere I wanted to go in the city.

It is just a block from the zocalo and within two mins from the door you are in the middle of the excitement.

We enjoyed our 3-night stay here - the location is convenient, rooms comfortable, and the restaurant has a nice courtyard space and the food was delicious.

The Parador San Miguel is a beautiful, comfortable and restful oasis a block from the Cathedral.

Such a beautiful hotel in just a terrific location about a block from The Zocalo main square.

Nice rooms, the location is really close to perfect in that it is one block from the zocalo,

It’s a block away from the zocalo and the portales, so it’s a walkable distance to explore the centro.

A great place to stay if you want a hotel in the centre of the city, one block from the zocalo.

I loved that we were able to walk only a couple of blocks to be in the main square and yet the hotel felt so quiet, SAFE,  and far enough away from the hustle bustle.

It is a charming hotel, with lovely rooms, a very good restaurant and a really great location just a block from the Zocalo and near the pedestrianized Macedonia Alcala.

Great downtown location just one block from the main plaza, great breakfast, beds were amazing, on site tours were there,  and great nightly dinner specials that included drinks soup main meal with dessert.

A  short block away from the Cathedral square.
