Rooms are looking old - showers need more water pressure or modern shower heads.

Room 303 carpets very filthy , whilst showering water stops and mostly cold water coming out of shower.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Shebeen pub last fri evening with a few friends .the place is a true authentic irish pub.the owner came to our table for a few minutes.his charm and Irish wit really makes the place electric.

I Was very happy with my stay at BlackRock - as always they are very efficient and the environment is excellent, clean and relaxing.

Blackrock was awesome, The room was super clean nicely decorated and what I like the most is that I had a Frigde on my room
The staff members were professional and pleasant, and the breakfast was Delicious

My check-out was almost clinical, and no apology, nor an explanation was offered to me.

the hotel service and room is excellent, also service, cleanliness, location, sleep quality, parking is available and very safe with 24 hour security, toilets are , I am very happy with the entire environment particularly with friendly staff

but the hotel manage to keep my stay as comfortable and fun as possible , the room was good enough and much relaxing after a long day of work and back to back meetings, as for the entertainment its was exquisite much fun and good for a person my age, I really enjoyed my stay.

The room allocated was a recent refurbished room and everything was spot on.

Its os well build and beautiful design and yet very economic.

Friendly staff welcome me back at the Blackrock and I had a beautiful big room for 3 nights.

check in must be friendly and help people easy so that  they will enjoy their stay, because the time was check in was frustrated had problem of vouchers so had to stand myb an hour just to wait from Rennies send the vouchers.

Staff are always friendly and willing to assist.

however no porter service or assistance with ailing guests or elderly people will definitely have a negative impact on your services, otherwise very friendly staff all round.

The Breakfast staff was very accommodating and the food served was a variety for all cultural groups, the only negative was on my departure I noticed the Dining service was having a "Spit Braai" which should really be on a Saturday instead of the departure day as we would not have to travel out for a place to eat when such a lovely meal was prepared.

Poor dining service and the breakfast was not catering for everyone, for example there was not a single hot porridge.It was a poor experience in general , the attitude of the staff could have made it better though

Wi- fi speed is a little bit slow though.

Check out was slow since the ladies were not really interested.

Positives are:

1) clean;
2) safe parking;
3) modern rooms; 

Negatives are:

1) hotel has a captive market therefore the price charged per room per night expensive;
2) hotel rooms are quite noisy seeing some are on walkway to casino and adjacent to parking lot;
3) chefs in the breakfast area are slow or missing in action. .

We booked online on route to Newscastle as a last minute stay over - literally 1 hour before we arrived.

When I checked in, I paid upfront (was charged more than I was quoted) and since I paid in full, I expected value for my stay

I got 20% of my expected (minimal) value, let alone only being stocked with 2 towels (not bathsheets, just towels) for a 4 sleeping family room.

She also ensured there were extra hotel amenities and towels in the room for him when he finally got there late that night.

Poor welcoming service By the receiving staff, unclean facilities, the room and the gym, no towels provided.

A family of four will struggle to hang up towels in the room due to lack of towel hooks.

I did have some problems finding the entrance to the site after dark.

I would have liked better lighting in my particular room (26), it tended to be a bit dark.

Once I am in the Hotel it is good if it's not necessary to go out driving again, especially if you don't really know the area in the dark.

The ambience was awesome, staff were friendly.

Dinner was in a room with two others present, which made for a fairly depressing atmosphere.

Stayed at Haggards en-route to Durban on our Cycle Tour - great accommodation, good food and awesome staff that are willing to make their guests feel at home.

I liked the new girl, she was fun and took me on a tour of the place when I got there.

The Aircon was old, noisy and even set on 16 degrees I was hot!

Having said that, on the second night fish was on the menu and not being a fan of fish I removed it from my plate and put it to the side.

The noise from the air con condenser unit running outside your door can frustrate someone who doesn't like noise.

The bedroom was large, very tastefully and plushly decorated and the bed very comfortable.

Wow what a little gem , we were greeted by the charming owner of the manor , after booking in we were showed around and then taken to our room , absolutely stunning room and bathroom , the service is top class , the little extras re biscuits with your coffee /tea, bedside turned down and after dinner chocolate mints await you on returning from dinner , free wi-.fi that actually works , breakfast and dinners are of high standard , and the staff is absolutely professional and friendly.

Spent a weekend in Newcastle, this guest house was very tranquil and we enjoyed our stay.

To bring it to a 5 rating; a small plunger with ground coffee in the room, better shower pressure and a choice of meal would be perfect.

If you are staying on the ground floor be prepared to hear footstep of other guests on the upper level.

Siphan and her staff welcomed us like we were family.

I was blown away by the service of the staff when I arrived,

I realized a left my cellphone at reception and before i could even make arrangements to get it back she already drove to the annex and gave it to me.

Service was excellent and the staff delivered on all their promises.

The whole team working there, were so happy in their work - that says it all.

They should check payment for each booking before arrival as I had to stand for more then 30min while trying to find their paper work and emails confirming payment.

After checking in I ordered something to eat.

It was just ohky, their service at our arrival was very poor.

When I checked in at Ilawu Guest Lodge, a girl who was at reception did not take any notice of us until one guy approach us and take me to my room, when we arrive on that room we find that there was a guest inside, the guest  was suppose to check out that day

It was a bit unfortunate that when we arrived there seemed to be a party the noise was abit disturbing.

after checkin in, room keys were handed over to me and that was it.

My extended family booked in 3 rooms here.Upon arrival after 4hr drive we were told if we swipe our cards we would be charged an additional 14% of the originally quoted price, which worked out to R750, I advised them to check my family in while I go find the ATM, I was then told they could only do that once we paid.

It started off badly with the receptionist questioning if we paid or not and then not letting us checking in 1hr early.

Not wanting to spend a fortune just to sleep, and based on the pics on the website, I booked 2 rooms at Ilawu lodge.

The room was a bit small and could have been cleaned better.

Room was small, and Tv didnt work even after requesting assistance.
