2. for the drinks maybe you can incorporate a voucher idea instead of guest having to go fetch they own drinks especially during cold days - with the voucher at least you can hand it over to the person bringing your food up to also bring you drinks.

The room and double bed is small and cold.

The ‘chapel’ - should have the roller blinds to keep out the wind / cold.

It was hot and I could not keep my water cold.

For supper, over the weekends, how about cold, light finger supper, to to nibble on, instead of going all the way to town to grab something to eat

The bathroom floor was so cold I couldn't stand on it for longer than a minute - put a mat down maybe??

Coming in from the cold someone thought about exactly that.

I had Chicken curry, and could barely eat it, was way too hot, no choices given if you prefer it hot or not
Breakfast was a bit disorganised, asking for hot milk for a coffee, took about 10 minutes, by then the coffee was already cold.

The ambience was awesome, staff were friendly.

Dinner was in a room with two others present, which made for a fairly depressing atmosphere.

Its just beautiful and has a calming atmosphere.

The room was very spacious with modern decor, clean white linen, and with all the amenities required for a business trip.

Surroundings good, security good, upkeeping of venue good.

The beautifully tranquil and extremely well maintained surroundings, the exquisite and spotless rooms, the  professional and friendly staff, not to mention and best of all, some of the best meals I've had prepared for me, will no doubt, surpass the expectations of any well seasoned traveller, or just someone / couple looking for short and well deserved getaway.

Our family unit was spacious and well furnished with two bedrooms and a kitchenette.

This was really an elegant stay at a truly remrkable establishment!

There wasn't a door separating the bedroom from the bathroom so you could hear everything the other person was doing in the bathroom.

I was in a rear(forest) facing room - the room was in a need of some upkeep - for example large crack in basin - stable doors to toilet /shower was damaged/verge of pulling apart - large gaps in the door-to-outside and gaps between window and wal let a draft in - view out the window was of an untidy bamboo forest - in need of cleanup - this was just as well OK because it blocked the main road which was quite loud especially in the wee hours of night and morning.

Careful must be taken ,especially when opening the glass door,because I saw a snake just infront of the glass door Many thanks to you all ,especially the lady who was cleaning my room.

Though the saloon style bathrooms doors a bit quirky.

The lighting was poor and there was no closing door between the bed and the toilet.

However I would have preferred closed bathroom doors and not the stable door between the bedroom and bathroom.

When driving through the gates of Haggards, I thought I was in a Harry Potter Movie (the front gate is beautiful)
I would recommend this establishment to anyone travelling to Newcastle.

It was my first stay in Africa, I loved my clean room,the privacy and comfort offered,great design and lot of space in my room,air conditioning and great shower facility,comfortable bed.

Cycle Tour / Dad's Tour 2016, Fantastic hospitality and stay.

Stayed at Haggards en-route to Durban on our Cycle Tour - great accommodation, good food and awesome staff that are willing to make their guests feel at home.

I liked the new girl, she was fun and took me on a tour of the place when I got there.

Newcastle is a nice town although not really on the tourist route - most of the guests were single business men -

Two minor nitpicks though: the walls were apparently quite thin because we heard our neighbors babbling away well into the night, then unfortunately one of the aircons just gave up.

In terms of toiletries you get a tiny soap and shampoo fixed onto the wall - thats it!

Going from 34 degrees to 2 degrees with heavy rain and snow resulted in our car slipping on black ice, hitting a dirt wall and landing on its side.

The shower in room 6 had a raised plastic base that had loosened from the wall.

TV is so high up on the wall you strain your neck trying to watch.

Whoever is in charge of your client handling skills needs a promotion.

Ensure that USB charging ports work and that WIFI is UNLIMITED.

As off today no one got back to me and they still have my card.

When I checked in, I paid upfront (was charged more than I was quoted) and since I paid in full, I expected value for my stay

I got 20% of my expected (minimal) value, let alone only being stocked with 2 towels (not bathsheets, just towels) for a 4 sleeping family room.

you charge a burger buffet R165 where as you have the same burger on your ordering menu for R70 no difference the quality is actually very poor.

Just because I arrived on a motorcycle does not give you the right to charge upfront!

but never a smile, never a word of welcome, just a warning that any other costs I incurred would be charged to my credit card.

I was given an upgrade to my room  at no extra charge .

The speedpoints (credit cards) at the bar were not connected.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Shebeen pub last fri evening with a few friends .the place is a true authentic irish pub.the owner came to our table for a few minutes.his charm and Irish wit really makes the place electric.

I Was very happy with my stay at BlackRock - as always they are very efficient and the environment is excellent, clean and relaxing.

Blackrock was awesome, The room was super clean nicely decorated and what I like the most is that I had a Frigde on my room
The staff members were professional and pleasant, and the breakfast was Delicious

the hotel service and room is excellent, also service, cleanliness, location, sleep quality, parking is available and very safe with 24 hour security, toilets are , I am very happy with the entire environment particularly with friendly staff

but the hotel manage to keep my stay as comfortable and fun as possible , the room was good enough and much relaxing after a long day of work and back to back meetings, as for the entertainment its was exquisite much fun and good for a person my age, I really enjoyed my stay.

The room allocated was a recent refurbished room and everything was spot on.

Rude staff upon arrival and they didn't have a smoking room

but the carpets there too was stained and filthy.

Room 303 carpets very filthy , whilst showering water stops and mostly cold water coming out of shower.

The toiletries are at its minimum just one little bath soap and wash , shower had a awful smell .

For breakfast, on all the sausages, the one with periperi was fresh the rest was stale, I dished them

Rooms to the left of reception are quiet and do not smell smoke in the corridor!

I was in room 111, please just check the drainage system of the bathroom hand basin

the pillows had a funny smell making it difficult to sleep

but no one assisted, it was disgusting especially when brushing teeth as the waiter was not draining, floating it was disgusting

These guests then smoked in their room which filtered through to our room and filled our room with smoke.

He was out on a mine and due to the breakdown was filthy dirty, tired and fed up.

The other part leading to dinning hall people smoke a lot in this area and is very difficult to walk through.

> The tiles in the shower were not scrubbed properly as there was black residue in the corners that was floating around once it came in contact with the water.

We booked online on route to Newscastle as a last minute stay over - literally 1 hour before we arrived.

I do realize that the hotel cannot predict when there will be no water,

Lovely.. Only issue was room 114..could hear water flowing everytime other guests used their bath/toilet.

After a shower I nearly slipped and fell due to the water on the tiles.

It was hot when i arrived and i was welcomed with a cold water mixed with lemon.

Only one bottle of water offered for 5 day stay.

but the hot water in the shower ran out on me several times.

Rooms are looking old - showers need more water pressure or modern shower heads.

There is no bottle water in the rooms, it took 20minutes to get someone to bring us some.

The sink in the bathroom not draining water properly, I reported this

I would like to have a bar fridge in the room for convenience sake and a bottle of water.

He made me to have a pleasant sleep by making sure I have three bottles of water to drink before I went to bed because they were no courtesy bottles at the time.

The grounds are well-kept and nice to walk in.

Great atmosphere in a quiet and serene suburb of Newcastle.

The guest house has an intimate setting with wonderful gardens and 2 pools.

The standard of the Lodge was very high the decor was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful made my stay very pleasant the rooms  very clean  and comfortable the restaurant was excellent freshly prepared and tasty will definitely come back

The surroundings are peaceful and serene which I feel was the highlight of my stay.

Only 1 thing that I wish they can improve is to have telephones in their room so that it will be easy for the guest to communicate with the reception without using our cellphones.

In a country where load-shedding is a norm it would be considerate if a candle or flashlight is left in the room for guests to find their way in the dark.

I wish some guests would learn to respect others..I had to phone reception round 2:30am as they were drinking, breaking bottles a
& making noise.

The latter, together with a noisy guest banging his car door and talking loudly on his cell phone at 2am meant it was not a pleasant evening..

Food was great - only disappointment was the availability of chicken as we had overseas guests who do not eat other meats.

When I checked in at Ilawu Guest Lodge, a girl who was at reception did not take any notice of us until one guy approach us and take me to my room, when we arrive on that room we find that there was a guest inside, the guest  was suppose to check out that day

They need to be abit more deligent in servicing quests.

We spent minimal time at the lodge as we attended a funeral and the stay just got worse with a broken bed in the room (room 6), to noisy, drunken guests trying to open my room at 5AM,scaring the hell out of my wife and with their cars parked all over the place blocking the entrance to the lodge.

Had to call their PMB branch before I can be allowed in.

but would have been better they have someone to call the receptionist rather than leaving the room every time you want to order anything !

Our room phone wasn't even working had to use my cell.

No one answers the phone, food is below standard.

but after a phone call he made sure we got in the lodge after 10.

As it I a little bit of an inconvenience to have to go on outside to make a call.

Good staff, well approaching, room were very clean so i was so happy hope to see you soon thanks guys, even the breakfast was so neat and enjoyable and a safe parking lot yaa it's a nice place to be next time

Great value for your money.We used this guest house as a stop over to Kruger park, nice n quiet with shops nearby n breakfast was lovely.

Clean apartment, friendly welcome and friendly service during our stay and a delicious breakfast.

The breakfast was excellenet and we will definitally stay there again when we pass Newcastle again..
