Hotel is in a great location in Manhattan, the rooms are clean and modern, there was absolutely nothing negative about our stay, very positive experience.

Lots of NYC takeaways within a five minute walk, the in-house restaurant is quite decent, the rooms are clean and quiet and the hotel is new and modern.

The room was very modern, clean and spacious for 3 adults.

but we (my kids included) saw a man with a heroin needle right outside the hotel.

but we felt a little uneasy at times when leaving the hotel as it seemed to be located in an area that was a bit “sketchy”.

We paid £500 a night for a connecting room without any sound proof so we had to endure the neighbour's TV and his conversation with his wife.

Midtown ha sa lot of homeless people hanging around on the streets - it can feel a bit intimidating at times,

The one drawback of this hotel is the homeless and drug problem that is seemingly everywhere — we legit saw a man with a syringe doing drugs right outside the hotel on 8th avenue.

BEYOND THEIR CONTROL:  Whilst the hotel front is what you’d expect in Manhattan, sadly there are some unfortunate homeless souls openly injecting around 100m from the hotel, if you are not prepared for this or you have young children that you don’t want to see this then be forewarned that this is a reality of this hotels location.

If you don't want to see homeless people turn left when you leave the building.

It’s on a very sketchy street with so many homeless and mentally unstable individuals around.

Also some of the surrounding streets are run down with some homeless people.

That being said, I never felt unsafe - there are so many tourists and police around.

The area outside of the hotel was not the best and we felt a little uncomfortable at times (quite a few homeless people)

Penn station/Madison Square Garden is not a very nice area and has homeless and questionable people around so you need to keep your wits about you.

If this is your first trip to NY or first trip in a while, beware and be mindful of the very high number of homeless people and those on the street with mental health issues, can be a challenge managing this with children.

Other reviews have complained of cold showers- not the case in our 7 night stay, cold rooms- again not the case, and that the street is sketchy.

The walls were so thin I could hear full conversations and much more from my neighbour in 603 and would you believe it was next to the ice machine that gets used regularly.

but almost everywhere I've stayed in Manhattan has been a bit rough outside (homeless etc).

The down side is that this neighborhood is a bit sketchy, particularly late at night.

Due to NYC's covid situation, the homeless issue is a bit obvious in this area (& in other parts of the city) so I recommend women or families w/children to uber or take taxis after dark -- for the time being.

Here's the thing, it's Manhattan, there are homeless people everywhere in Times Square, Midtown, etc.

but we could hear our neighbours talking (as in normal volume talking not shouting or arguing).

For around $300 per night you get a very small room, cheaply furnished, a bathroom with only one sink and a walk in shower with a shower curtain that does not reach all the way down to the floor.

Rooms are small, as with most of Manhattan.

Let me start by saying that the hotel room itself was small

Generally the room was small, which is fine as only used it as a place to sleep after busy days of sightseeing.

Many mention that the rooms are small, they are perfect size for just resting your head after a long day sightseeing!

The rooms are comfortable; I did not feel I had to go outside to change my mind because the room was small.

My only complaint is that the room was small,

Small rooms with double beds (nice-sized bathrooms),

Location was close to Hudson Yards (20 minute walk) and Times Square (20-25 minute walk).Absolutely dismal storage space.

Our room was large enough for 3, the double beds were very comfortable & I loved the shower-room with well-thought-out storage space & hooks.

I loved the scenery and space to chill, the common space was a nice touch.

There was also a good amount of closet space to hid your things which is always a perk for NYC.

The bathroom had a large walk-in shower with a choice of two shower heads, good storage area for personal belongings and a full compliment of toiletries.

The rooms seemed brand new compared to other hotels we have stayed at and had more room and even counter space in the bathroom!

Our room was spotless and had lots of space.

Rooms have great amenities with fridges, iron and ironing board, closet space etc.

It had everything we needed - safe, ironing board, iron, storage, tv, etc.

but the room had everything I needed: clean, comfortable bed, enough space for 2, good wifi connection, and good water pressure from the shower.

For NYC, the rooms are a nice size with great storage areas, smart thinking.

The bathroom had enough space for both of us to get ready for the concert at the same time.

The bathroom was huge and I loved the big mirror/vanity space for all my toiletries.

When I got to my room, I was happy to see a very well appointed space, with a huge, modern bathroom.

The rooms were clean with some wiggle room and lots of storage.

The hotel is new with clean and fresh guestrooms and  beautiful meeting space, with lots of natural light.

As for the room, it was a large space with modern decor.

The room had floor to ceiling windows with an amazing view, a super comfy bed, the perfect amount of closet space and a shower to die for.

but the bathroom had a nice walk-in shower and good space for dressing without straddling the toilet like some others.

Plus the hotel is smack dab in the middle of Manhattan and you can walk everywhere (which is my jam.. walking).

That means you will be only about 2.5 blocks walk from the hotel. Ideal.

Close to Penn and a easy walk to a lot of the sights.

Soon as I walked in was greeted from the great staff it was a easy check-in room was very clean breakfast was great not only do I recommend I’m in the process of planning another trip as I will be staying here again

We were able to walk to Broadway in just a matter of minutes and there are several restaurants and anything you would want close by.

I also love the fact that it’s a close walk to all the Broadway shows as well as my office!

By walk one can visit a lot of famous tourist sites, many metro lines and many great local food venue.

From the moment I walked in to the second I left for the airport, everything was amazing!

Easy 4 minute walk to Penn Station and a plethora of restaurants in the area.

but a short walk down to Hell’s Kitchen offers amazing dining options.

From the moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with a smile and treated to amazing customer service.

If you fly to Newark and train to Penn station- this is a super easy walk with lots of transit and restaurants nearby!

The hotel is very conveniently located with an easy walk to many attractions and to the subway station.

Absolutely brilliant  staff were amazing and helpful room was lovely clean and comfortable Excellent location food in the restaurant was superb when I next come to NYC I will definitely be booking to stay here here highly recommended and the warm cookies that they give you are absolutely delicious

She topped it off by giving us some the best cookies out there.

The staff where friendly and they did give us water and cookies on arrival.

free breakfast first morning and free cookies that are delicious and fresh made.

6) Room size - very small and compact

Positive things:

1) cookies when you arrive were good.

Gave us some warm yummy cookies and helped us roll and place our luggage in the vehicle.

He also presented us with water and cookies in case we were held up any further.

Kept the kids happy with some more complimentary cookies and some water.

The hotel staff was brilliant, quickly checked in after a long day of traveling, given hot cookies and directed to our room on the 6th floor.

JANIAH also gave us warm cookies …… delish especially after a four hour drive.

He not only gave us great advice on travel tips he provided us with the freshly baked cookies every morning to start out day In Manhattan.

Cookies and water on arrival which was a nice touch, The rooms were small,

Easy check in and received our delicious warm cookies.

The clerk was very patient in explaining the process and offered delicious cookies as well.

They give you Doubletree cookies ,these are great .

They also give you cookies which was good.

The elevators are very slow and the lobby is always full of min 25 people with bags waiting for rides or waiting to check in.

But I would say it was a 1* the reception is so busy the lifts are ridiculous 2 lifts in the building and are always full!

- lifts were rickety and old and unbelievably only 4 tiny lifts for a hotel this size!!

The other reviews stating how slow the lifts are, are correct.

4 lifts and never had to wait long for them.

The lobby was chaos every time we returned to the hotel, the wait times for the elevators were absolutely ridiculous, we waited for ten minutes some days which is unacceptable.

If you are not staying on a high floor getting a lift is an issue as when they finally arrive they are full.

The hotel always seemed bustling and full of life, there were times when you had to wait a couple of minutes for elevators due to how busy it was.

but it was ridiculous given that there are four - we spent numerous mornings waiting on our floor for a lift to arrive, only for it to be packed and therefore unable to get on.

The RoofTop Bar: Only one of the four lifts gets you to the rooftop; that's if it's not a Mon or Tues when it's closed, 

Metal chairs in the dining room, Elevator flooring tiles broken, covered over with a throw rug.

although the lifts could be slow, we never waited any more than ten minutes.

The lift situation is as bad as others say, and they've definitely seen better days.

The elevators can be an issue at busy times, you can be waiting for a while and they are very crowded.

Also guests are rude and dont move to allow people in especially when every guest at one point of their stay will be waiting over 10 minutes for  place to get in an elevator.

Maintenance of the lifts at this hotel is a bit of an afterthought, with holes in the walls, bits hanging off etc, not what you would expect.

Looked like it could do with a bit of a face lift.

During our 5 night stay we only couldn't get in the lift once.

however this was the biggest room they had which was shocking, on arrival your greeted to broken outside furniture not as displayed in the pictures and defiantly not to the same standard, the roof top also included broken worn out furniture that was not matching any of the pictures displayed, when entering the lift your greeted with black mismatch fabric that had wet black paint to cover up the damage, they also had signs up with tape  which added to the poor quality finish of the hotel.

The lifts are a bit slow and you would find yourselves waiting quite a bit for one to get to you.

Loved the roof top bar, staff are amazing and central location is excellent.

We used the hotel roof top bar once and it was great!

We went up to the rooftop bar twice, that's one of the best features the hotel has to offer.

Such a fab hotel to stay in, very close to Times Square and the subway is a 2 min walk away so easy to get around, hotel staff very friendly, rooftop bar is amazing!

But the location was great and if I could be sure the rooftop bar would be open, I would stay here again.

when the repair guy came to the room I wasnt dressed, he banged on the door saying "engineering" I replied "just a second" as I was A.naked B.on the phone with the front desk.

The room was small and felt claustrophobic so I asked for another room, it felt slightly better

I had read the reviews and seen someone had a kettle and fridge bought to the room when we asked this was not available to us despite having a fussy 4 year old with us.

We found our room to be very tired, dark and not very comfortable.

Rooms are very small and again need a major refurb.

Clothes hanging space is small for 3 people sharing a room

Rude, incompetent and lied to face about room thefts-only to find at least 3 others in just last few months-all similar situations.

but my god this hotel, firstly the attitude of the reception staff stinks, we were told we only had 2 single rooms for 5 of us, then after 20 mins she realised she wasn’t reading it properly.

The rooms themselves were small and needed a bit of love; the AC/heating was unbelievably noisy in our room and didn't work at all in my 70yo Mother's room for the whole week we were there (someone did come to take a look, after calling reception three times,

We were not exactly greeted with open arms at reception, when the staff could be bothered to notice us we were told our rooms were not ready

The rooms are the smallest I have seen in recent years - I would advise questioning the size of the room and wardrobe.

Our room was quite dated and clearly in need of a refresh.

The rooms were very small, no where near big enough for 3 people.

but they can bring you one if you request it, however as the room is so small we had to have ours on the dresser as there was no where to put it.

As a result, this was the “better” priced hotel I could find at $500 per night for a tiny room and hotel that needs to be refurbished soon.

Words can't describe how misleading pictures room tiny.

Next room was small and unable to hang very much in the tiny wardrobe from our cases.

The rooms are quite small and need more shelves in the bathroom to put cosmetics, meds, toothbrushes, all the stuff travelers take with them.

Tiny rooms that need updating and poorly maintained.

Here’s my thoughts:

- The room is small, which wasn’t necessarily a problem.

The reception was beautiful and the staff were so lovely, the room was perfect for a base, the beds were comfortable; there was space for four of us and big suitcases!

but I’m 6’3” and 18 stone and I’d plenty of room and we’d enough storage too and my missus takes the kitchen sink! Lol.

but perfect space for myself and my girlfriend to comfortably store our luggage and relax after long days exploring this Beautiful city.

Room was clean upon arrival , VERY limited storage for clothes.

Although the bellman were nice to us in handling the storage of our luggage.

The downstairs bar is nice, plenty of space.

2 queen beds, wardrobe, drawers, TV, bathroom more than met our needs and expectations.

Right upon arrival he graciously helped us with all 9 of our bags and took them away to storage.

The my did make great use of the space in the rooms.

I es able to leave my luggage in the storage so I could continue my trip that was great

I found it ironic that the staff members were okay with the cramming in a close space with COVID yet I got yelled at rudely for not having my mask on.

If you’re looking for space, no brainer to do double-Queen, cause king-size will definitely Not do… But good location of Time Square and Wonderful staff made-up for it all…

We had 2 large suitcases and managed to empty everything into the drawers and wardrobe provided with no problem.

We booked a a Premium Freedom Tower view room and were glad we did as space was ok, great views and very comfortable bed.

Also there’s not enough lifts in the hotel and usually it’s a 10-15 minute wait for a lift with enough space to take you to the lobby.

Right from the start a 4 hr delay in checking and being turfed out of thr lobby waiting area quite rudely to use the space for even more suitcases in a crapped lobby and didn't  make us feell particularly happy or even welcome right at the start.

The rooms were all updated and had plenty of space for a Manhattan hotel.

2) Tiny rooms - Our room was 1010, we had a corner room with two doubles, plenty of space for us.

Two comfy beds, plenty of storage, a refrigerator, drinks facilities and a good size bathroom.

This was obvs less than ideal as we’d been out walking and getting on the subway all day and wanted to have a shower.

Perfect location… only few minutes walk from Tines Square.
