but had excellent help from the hotel Concierge, who registered my loss with the Rockefeller centre and the subways I travelled on.

It's a really nice area with good restaurants and a shopping center next door.

Next to the Newport Center mall this is close to restaurants and shopping.

Courteous, friendly and professional staff,excellent restaurants, close( walking distance) beautiful mall, taxi, Uber, train all available for travel in the area, business center available, about 25 minutes from EWR, and NYC.

Location is also quite great given one of the big shopping centers nearby.

Getting back into Manhattan is pretty easy on the PATH (yellow line to midtown from behind the hotel or blue line to World Trade Centre after a 20min walk)

The hotel is really close to the metro that takes you right to the world trade centre.

My girls particularly liked the fitness center, which had numerous types of machines and equipment.

This hotel is in a great location near the train to city (easy quick walk) and also to The Newport Center.

The Path train station is diagonally across from the hotel (which costs $2.75 per journey) and takes you straight into 33rd street or World Trade Centre within 10 minutes.

Rooms are very nice, it offers many convention rooms and a good fitness center with indoor pool.

Rooms are good, ask for downtown view in high floors for a great view of One World Trade Centre.

We took the ferry one afternoon into town, which took us directly to the financial center.

Access to Newport Center was is excellent.

Easy walk to light rail, path trains and Newport shopping centre.

Every time I travel for business I appreciate fitness center as well as swimming pool that Westin offers.

What a treat to stay at this tranquil Westin just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan or the crowds of Black Friday bargain hunters at Newport Center.

The hotel is a couple of minutes walk to the PATH station so an easy link to the centre of NYC.

Great location near the Newport Center Mall and access to Path train..I would definitely stay here again.

Charged my card $997 first night and not even 12 hours later charged my card an additional $552!!

Platinum members are only entitled $10 breakfast credit for the overpriced snacks.

They over charged my stay by $100 and never gave me a bill so I had to find out on my credit card statement.

I will ve charged for this operation by the bank and wont be refund of this tax.

Note, the unlimited MTA card does not work on the Path, so you do have to pay a separate fare on the Jersey side.

Watch out your credit card bill a few days after you check out the room.

Next, I was charged $5+taxes for Package Handling for a very small parcel.

There is nothing about it that commands a price, muchless a $25+ charge.

However, the metro card doesn't work with PATH so you have to pay an additional $2.75 per trip.

Furthermore, the hotel adds an 18% "service charge" on its meals, then charges STATE TAX on the service charge.

No charge up front,  my card was supposed to be charged at check in.

I had to return to reception 2 times and my card keys just didn't work.

The card reader system is outdated and I got locked out of my room 3 times in a week, two of those times I did not have an ID on me and had to be escorted up (which is good when it comes to security)

Also gift shop workers are rude and for all charges you need 5 dollar minimum.

but keep a very sharp eye on what they charge you cause even a correct bill at check-out does not mean they will not attempt to charge you more later on.

Then I had to go to the front desk twice for hidden fees, once for internet charges on my bill and once for being charged for valet parking for 2 nights when we did not valet.

Unlike any Westin I have stayed at before, there is no power or AC until you put your key card in a special slot.

My wife complained to reception and to their credit , they relocated the guest and her annoying pet to another location , albeit in the same hotel

This is an excellent hotel , and I find it a bit incongruous that they have this policy.

Aside from the restaurant pricing, I have one complaint: Westin charges $9.95 per day for Internet connectivity.

My room had a fantastic view of lower Manhattan.

I had a wonderful view of lower Manhattan and the suite worked beautifully as I was able to host two colleagues after  leaving the office.

For a special getaway long weekend we booked one of the Westin's City View rooms and used it as a base for visiting sights in lower Manhattan.

Room is spacious and has a nice partial view of Hudson River and lower Manhattan.

I had a traditional king room (#412) and had a spectacular view of the Freedom Tower in lower Manhattan.

This could be a good place to stay for a visit to New York City as well as you can take a ferry ride into lower Manhattan from here.

though we booked thru hotels.com, we got a great room with a partial view of WTC one and lower Manhattan, this was awesome!

The view of the freedom tower and lower Manhattan from our room was amazing.

Plenty of places right by the hotel for dinner and quick walk to train into Lower Manhattan if you want to have dinner in the city.

We stayed on the 17th floor with a great view of lower Manhattan.

Rooms had a great view of lower Manhattan, they were clean, modern, very comfortable and well-appointed.

Plenty of windows to enjoy the amazing view of lower Manhattan.

The best surprise bonus was it was only a few minutes walk to the PATH station, and it was a short, inexpensive, easy ride to the center of NYC or Lower Manhattan.

Modern, remarkably clean, and located in a upscale, safe neighborhood directly across the Hudson from Lower Manhattan.

Room #700 (& similar suites like 800, 900, etc) have 6 big windows facing lower Manhattan, a very roomy bath with 2 vanities, a shower & an awesome 2-person tub.

There are great views of the Hudson river and lower Manhattan from the east side of the property.

The views from our room of the Freedom Tower and Lower Manhattan were simply AMAZING!

A nearby shopping mall has an extensive food court and there are many other dining venues in and around the Newport Jersey City area.

There is a beautiful mall across the street with all kinds of chain restaurants and standard mall shops if you're into that kind of thing.

Newport mall is right across the street with countless places to eat like The Cheesecake Factory, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and a good food court selection.

It's a well appointed Mall with a Cheesecake Factory and other eateries.

He gave me great information and put my mind at ease; what an excellent ambassador for the hotel. The PATH train stop (Newport station) is about 1-1/2 blocks from the hotel and there is a large mall (Newport Ctr.)

With the million dollar view of New York harbor and skyline right from our window (see picture) to the convenience of the Jersey subway and its 10 minute trip to Manhattan for $2.75 to the incredible team manager Angel Cueto has assembled to the outstanding Fire and Oak restaurant adjacent to the 1 block walk to Newport shopping mall.

The shopping mall is close be for all your requirements and lovely waking trail along the Hudson.

It was also located 2 minutes away from the NJ light rail and Newport Mall.

The Newport mall is right beside the hotel and is a great place to dine.

The area was safe and well lit and there was a mall and parking garage adjacent.

The property is one block away from the MTA Path Station which made our tourist commute very easy.

The location is close to the PATH train with easy access to Manhatten if you need it.

Hotel has a great location, accessible to restaurants, River Walk, grocery and liquor stores, the PATH to Manhattan, and is wider open and seemingly safer and newer than some of the more dodgy areas of Joizey City.

The PATH can take you all the way to 33rd St, NYC.

It was so close to the Path train so pretty quick ride into NYC.

The location is excellent for walks on the water and the PATH Train to NYC.

Path train for access to NYC is right across the street.

Inches away from the PATH train system & 20 minutes away from the New Jersey international airport!

The Path is right across the street, and there are numerous shops and restaurants nearby as well.

We will definitely be back though, given it’s convience to office and PATH station.

It was only a block walk from the Newport PATH station, and if you don't intend on spending late nights in Manhattan, the inconvenience of using the PATH to commute into Manhattan is worth it.

The PATH subway goes into NYC every 5 minutes and is quick and easy.

If you want to save some money stay here and take the subway (PATH) into Manhattan.

It's a short, safe 5 minute walk to the Path train which brings you to WTC or Chelsea/Greenwich Village stops in 20 minutes.

The Westin location is only two blocks from the Newport PATH station to take the subway into Manhattan.

We stayed here since we had a wedding in town and we love the Westin brand.

I stayed at The Westin in Jersey City for three nights when in town recently for business.

Very accommodating staff, close to train, ten minutes from Newark airport and town cars readily available at a cost less than cab service!

They paid for a town car to and from the other hotel, upgraded me to a suite in both hotels, and gave me a voucher for two complimentary breakfasts, which I enjoyed with my daughter who came to visit me while I was in town.

It is also close to a lot of shopping and restaurants, as well as to Hoboken, a cute little town with a street full of shops and bakeries.

You get luxurious quality at a fraction of the price, a stones throw from the city with the best views in town.

We found reasonably good rate for that part of town (abt $175 + tax) for mid-July for our family.

The location is good for Jersey City and for lower and mid town Manhattan.

This is a beautiful town to walk around in - quaint shops and restaurants, not to mention Carlos Bakery, from the TLC show "Cake Boss".

I'll definately stay here again if we are back in town.

During our visit we took the PATH train to WTC station/Lower Town and to 33rd street station/Midtown and walked everywhere we could.

Not only do you get worry free CLEAN rooms (with all the bed bugs issues going around town), you also get a five minute walking distance radius to a great mall and the PATH (10 min.

PATH train was very convenient even when returning back to NJ after late nights on the town.

The ride to town was 20 minutes to 33rd street and the entry was a five minute walk to the hotel.

The curtains were torn and not functioning and it was impossible to control the thermostat.

It was freezing and I couldn’t make the heater work in the room (it was super old and the knob was turned on

Despite a thermostat, I did not have control over the heat and my room was consistently 80 degrees, with the window open.

My only complaint was that our 11th floor room was extremely hot (due to heat rising from the other rooms, because it was cold outside) and would not cool down below 76 despite having the A/C set on 65 (the lowest setting).

I immediately turn on the air conditioning unit, full blast all weekend and the temperature never dropped below 75.

The shower head was held together with duct tape, the paint is chipped and walls were stained.

I asked to have my first room changed because the air conditioner had no controls due to a very old unit.

Cockroaches; shades and windows that don’t open; no thermostat controls; no bathroom vents; peeling paint and wall paper; humidity trapped in the room all day making it miserable; rooms so small that a tent would have been more comfortable; awful.

The other night, when we returned from the city, we asked to change rooms and the manager replied that there was no more room, that he had nothing to do, at most, refund 100 dollars (from a reservation of more than 400 dollars), and gave us a small fan.

The air conditioning made loud bangs and sounds all throughout the night.

but the units outside were just as noisy.

I spent the entire night without air conditioning.

Bathrooms with no ventilation, rotting doors due to humidity, curtains that don’t work, AC old and loud and I can go on.

We were given a room with a very dated television and air conditioner, a broken curtain (we couldn't get natural light!

but the basics (as a terribly old AC system, the noise of the street entering from old windows @ floor 5),  a very small bathroom, a swimming pool as small and as deep as a tub) are even below what expected for the convenient price.

The AC issues were extremely frustrating, as they seemed to temporarily fix it

Our ac was broken for two nights and they still refused to move us rooms.

Air conditioning ancient and filled with dirt.

I could barely maneuver around my bed and with the door shut in the bathroom, I could not even turn around.

Yes, the rooms and bathrooms are very small,

In the second room, the toilet was broken.

This hotel was dirty, rundown and had no amenities.

The queen room had water damage and mold spots on the walls of the bathroom.

As per other reviews and therefore expected the rooms are dated, and need upgrading- warped doors, mould in the bathroom.

The bathroom doors are warping and moldy and need replacing, the lamps are cheap and old, the blinds don’t even open, and the wallpaper is getting old and too dark.

Room and bathroom tiny (booked a suite), was not cleaned upon arrival.

Additionally, the hotel website portrays a luxurious modern hotel, when in fact it is outdated, the corridors and bedroom have very poor lightening and need to be renovated as parts of the wall and bathroom doors were falling apart.

The only redeeming feature is the convenient location to Lincoln Center.

It’s perfect for an evening when you going to the Opera or Ballet or a show at Lincoln Center.

From the room with a view of Lincoln Center and 2 lovely windows to look out at the city below, the comfy bed and just right pillows, and the friendly housekeeping services, all hotel services were excellent.

It's such a lovely neighbourhood right opposite the Lincoln Centre.

No better location for Lincoln Center, Columbus Circle, Central Park, Upper West Side, even Riverside Park and West Side Riverwalk are just blocks away.

The location is perfect - across from Lincoln Center, a variety of restaurants, near Central Park and Columbus Circle.

Ok, so for my Independence Day (week) stay, I work as a music journalist so being next to Lincoln Center’s Summer In The City was brilliant for my hobbies and networking.

Close to Central Park, the blue subway line, Broadway, restaurants, Lincoln Center, and a Whole Foods for hotel rooms snacks or a quick meal.

We booked this hotel due to its proximity to the Lincoln center, where we had theater tickets.

Can't beat the location -- steps from Lincoln Center and just a few blocks from Central Park and Columbus Circle.

The lobby bar is beautiful and the decor throughout the hotel is top-notch.

Finally - the few positive highlights we took with us is all about the people:

Central Park is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, Fifth Avenue and the Rockefeller Center are a 20 minute walk, the Lincoln Center is round the corner and there is a nearby shopping mall not too far away.

It's the best location ever - on the UWS, directly across from Lincoln Center, 2 blocks from Central Park, 3 blocks north of the new luxury mall at Columbus Circle, and an easy walk to Broadway theaters.

There is a large shopping mall about 10 mins away too.

Subway station right off the corner and there’s a huge mall next to the hotel.

The hotel is in a nice location, convenient to Lincoln Center, Time Warner Mall and Central Park.

The next door restaurant is crazy noisy dark at dinner time.

but for $500 a night, I was expecting less peeling paint, better fitting windows, a TV you could not hear through the wall and a coffee machine (or even a sachet).

Anyway, very bad service, we were supposed to live two days of a dream in NY and we lived a nightmare, because in addition to the air conditioning not working, we were next to a service room/hotel storage room where they were supposed to store things and they did noise the whole two nights, so if we managed to sleep a little in the heat, we woke up to the noise.

I emailed a complaint on my second day staying and I am yet to hear back from them.

The machinery was incredibly noisy and made it uncomfortable  to be in the room and particularly a challenge when trying to sleep.

but so loud that you can barely hear yourself think, let alone talk.

Super loud because air conditioning is kaput (they don’t send anyone to fix it) and bedroom windows so poorly fitted they don’t stop street noise.

The air conditioner is loud and difficult to adjust, with unsatisfactory results.

I was embarrassed by one English guest who was complaining that the outside noise was too noisy and she wanted an upgrade!

The noise is another factor, we heard dragging and furniture moving throughout the stay.

The bathroom doors are rusty, with peeling paint and a sketchy looking bathroom door, the bathroom sink is so small it's like using an airplane bathroom, and there is just no space anywhere.

Thin walls so you can hear conversations in adjacent rooms.

The rooms also begin on the fourth floor, so you get some reprieve from whatever the noise level may be outside.
