Hotel room itself was very comparable with what you might expect from a room at a Courtyard Marriott.

This property is fairly typical for a Courtyard.

The hotel is a strong Courtyard property, and I will stay here again next time in New York.

The Courtyard is both convenient and reasonably priced.

but this was the first stay at the Courtyard at Times Square on 40th street, and I have to report for location, service, comfort and most important management…their GM is Megan Wright, this Marriott branded property (actually managed by Aimbridge) is a “Jewel” among not just the Marriott portfolio but any of the other chains in the area.

Just completed a one-night stay at the Courtyard Marriott on West 40th and it was perfect for the quick business trip.

but I felt safe and secure in the Courtyard Hotel.

If you want to be close to the action stay at the Courtyard Times Square!

My wife, son & I stayed at this hotel while visiting NYC - and were glad we chose the Courtyard Marriott!

We agreed with that and we stayed at the Courtyard for the rest of our stay.

Standard Courtyard room - nice bed, enough work space, good bathroom with the usual stuff.

Booking Note: There is another Marriott Courtyard just a few blocks away with a very similar name.

Overall, it is a really good location, with good service, Courtyard level rooms and amenities, and a place definitely worth considering if you like being near Times Square.

We have stayed many times at this Marriott Courtyard and we would definitely return.

This Courtyard is located on W 40th Street mid way between Broadway and 6th Ave.

As platinum Marriott members we expect better from Courtyard.

Staying at Courtyard Manhattan NY has been very comfortable stay staff very friendly & helpful also very accomodating rooms are comfortable & clean would recommend for anyone to stay location is perfect to everything you want to see in New York close to hop on hop off bus stops to take you around to all site seeing places.

Close to Times Square and a CVS and Duane Reade right at the bottom of hotel.

There are restaurants in the same block and a Duane Reade and CVS on the corner.

There is a Duane Read right next door to pick up water, groceries, and other supplies, as well as a CVS across the street.

There’s even a 24-hour CVS Pharmacy right on the corner.

Very close to Starbucks, cvs and Duane reade for supplies like drinks or snacks.

And Duane Reade (like a CVS, Rite-Aid, Walgreens type) is right next door, convenient for drinks and snacks (i.e., milk for the kids).

Good proximity to Times Square, a subway line I needed was at the corner, there are two drug stores at the end of the block and a good Pizza place a block away.

Room was very nice and comfortable, great thing was we had a restaurant across the street from the hotel as well as a Duane Reade drug store 1 block up.

The good:

Excellent location convenient to Times Square, Bryant Park, subway stations at either end of the block and drug stores on the same block.

There is also a 24 hr drug store right next door and you can buy anything you forgot or might need with the kids.

My family and I love this hotel, its location is in the heart of town only two blocks from Times Square, with restaurants and stores all around, and the metro at walking distance, even a drug store a few steps away from the hotel entrance.

Loads of relatively inexpensive restaurants nearby and there is a 24 hour drug store open on the corner.

We appreciated the drug store, as it also has quite a selection of food, juices, refrigerated foods, K-cups for coffee and tea, (which is used in the coffee maker in the rooms).

There is a drug store next door which was great for snacks/drinks and any other essentials.

And if you need a drug store, there is a Duane Reade or two on every block :-) 

My complaint on the non-negotiables?

There is a subway station just a few steps away from the hotel and a Duane Reade (drug store) on the corner.

There was a drug store on the corner of the block as well as a market a block down with hot and cold buffet for take out.

There is a nice Irish pub/cafe directly out the back door of the hotel, and a drug store outside of the front door.

Good location, subway station on the corner, drug store next door for those things you've forgotten, two blocks from Times Square.

You have to swipe your key when in the elevator if you want it to stop on your floor.

One of the elevators was out of service during my 3-day stay.

but the room was small, loud, and the elevators took a really long time.

During peak times you’ll wait and wait for an elevator, lines form in the lobby and they’re small so plan accordingly.

The elevators are pretty old and slow, and the hotel elevator zones at each floor badly need a makeover.

I would say the only two drawbacks are the slow elevators !!

We stayed in rooms 2106 and 2107 both rooms smelt fusty and both were dark and dreary, the corridors are depressing and hot and the lifts do take a long time to arrive with there being over 30 floors in the hotel.

This meant long waits for an elevator and then to find it was full,  A suggestion to the hotel would be get your supplies to the floors overnight so in the morning when people are trying to get where they need to go, all three elevators are there for that purpose.

though a card was required to access elevators, we rode twice on the elevators with passengers who seemed to not get off, enough to make me feel a little unsafe (floor 33 was the top floor).

Only negative point - too few elevators, be prepared to wait during peak times.

The carpet is worn in places in the hallway and the elevator can be wonky at times.

The only complaint I have is that the elevators constantly had issues with inserting the key and getting to the floors.

To top it all off the lifts broke down more than once on each day.

The elevators were broken 50% of the time and when they finally worked, waiting 5-10 minutes for an elevator was a usual ordeal (we'd use the stairs

As a Marriott Bonvoy member I expected much more and a better overall experience!

I had to spend over 1hour in the lobby calling Marriott customer service, with my 3 and 5 year olds having meltdowns.

We are so loyal to all of the Marriott Brands and picked this location as our best choice for this trip to NYC.

I have been an SPG Platinum member for many years, am currently Gold at Marriott with one more stay to make Platinum Elite.

While only a couple of blocks west from the other Marriott at the corner of Fifth and 40th, this one was closer to Broadway, Times Square and the theatre district.

I am a Marriott Titanium customer, and I've been lucky enough to accrue some elite suite upgrades.

And the Marriott Senior rate is the best!

I stayed here for 4 nights and as a Marriott rewards member (which you can apply for, for free) I got a discount each night.

The property is a classic Marriott hotel.

I am and SPG member and this was my first time using the Marriott brand and so far I'm Impressed.

The staff was pleasant, as usual, for a Marriott property.

We stayed a Thursday and Friday night in July using Marriott Rewards points (though reasonable room rates can be gotten).

I’ve been a Marriott Rewards member for years and found this situation mind-boggling.

Being a Marriott Rewards member they will always honor the lowest rate.

Being an elite Marriott member, this is the first Courtyard I stay that don't provide lobby coffee and free breakfast.

I am a Gold member for Marriott Rewards, so I prefer Marriott hotels and choose them frequently.

I am a Marriott Rewards Gold member, so we normally stay at a Marriott.

Booked a three day stay using Marriott Rewards points.

Though being a platinum member at Marriott I would again like to try different options.

The room was very small and not very clean.

The king bed room was small and dark as some people comment

Right when I walked in I knew this place would be horrible.The lobby was small and boring.I went to the room and me and my parents in their room started coughing and gagging it smelt horrible in the room.We realized our cousins had to move rooms because there was hair everywhere.The room is dark no lights and tiny the tv is cheap and old.The hotel feels old,dusty and unwelcoming.The bathroom looks like something from the 80s.Me and my parents feel like demanding a refund and checking out.We might even go home if we can’t get another hotel.The lights I took a picture of are the only lights in the room.

Typical Times Square hotel including small rooms, thin walls, and the need to step around a few homeless people who live outside the hotel each time entered or left.

Standard NYC hotel with standard service and standard NYC tiny rooms, and standard NYC view with the brick wall of the building next door.

Although the room was small, the quality of the room made up for it.

for the same price, i could probably get the deluxe suite at a las vegas hotel which would be 100 times the size of this tiny room.

but it was 4:30 when we got our keys, The room was small and the view was of a brick wall in front and to the left.

This is a warning to my fellow travelers of the Courtyard  by Marriott at 133 Greenwich Street and of the New York Marriott Downtown at 85 West Street.

Check out the Courtyard one block away or the Millenium Hilton with great views of the 9/11 Memorial (stayed there the week before and there was no fee).

As well as several Courtyards, Fairfields, and Residence Inns.

I had stayed at the brand new Courtyard just around the corner for the previous two nights, which was a much better experience, and the rate was half the price of this Marriott.

The Courtyard Marriott is an excellent value for the money!

This hotel, which formerly had a bar-cafe, a nice restaurant, and a Starbucks, now has no inside dining, other than a small breakfast buffet (pre-renovation Marriott Courtyard style). .

Stayed the following two nights at the Courtyard Middletown, NY and received better service and free Internet.

Maybe if we knew about this additional charge we would.

The hotel charges a $25 amenity fee which includes a few things, one of which is a $25 food & beverage credit.

The $25 daily non-accumulating credit seems designed to annoy; usable at Bill's, the 20-SKU mini-mart next to the lobby (think only snacks & beverages that were available 1980 or earlier.

It is simply an up charge that must make them feel creative.

Keep in mind that most hotels in NYC will be charging some extra fee, and at least this way you get some of it back!

although there's a destination fee i got it back with being able to charge $25.00 a day to the room.

It resulted in a credit that could be used in Bill’s burgers for a meal, drinks in the executive lounge or items from the small convenience “closet” by the front desk.

but couldn't get in b/c the key card didn't work.

however upon checkout, I was told that I had quite a few internet charges.

In the future, a breakfast credit at the Starbucks in the building would have been nice for Platinum members or to-go bags.

When we arrived, we should our Credit cared and copy of ID

but they give you a food and beverage credit that nearly covers it.

We had a very unfortunate and unpleasant experience over the mandatory destination fee of $25 per day charged on top of the normal room rate.

You also pay a $25 charge which covers wifi and some other stuff

When she arrived, my colleague was told the room I booked she could not have and she had to make a completely new reservation (at double the cost) Not only did they cancel my whole reservation they charged me $623.00.

Your destination fee gives you $25 drink/food credit per day.

Very confusing for staff and for billing at check out.

but we wanted to try out this Marriott, and we're glad we did.

The beds, as always in a Marriott, were so comfortable.

Yes, this is a basic cookie cutter Marriott and it's nothing really special

I found that Marriott recognized my Platinum status with club lounge access and a room upgrade.

If you want a great lounge stay at the Marriott near TImes Square.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and the Marriott beds have a deservedly high reputation.

Really modern, upscale feel for a Marriott.

Other than that - it was very standard Marriott.

I've stayed JW Marriott/ W/ Westin/Le Meridian/Autograph and this year finally found my "PERFECT" hotel - the Lower Manhattan Marriott.

We usually stay at another Marriott group, this was by far the best.

I spent one evening in the Marriott while in New York on business.

They are telling the customer that they don’t care about you and they are telling Marriott that they don’t care about their most loyal customers.

Used this Marriott as our base for a weeks New York stay.

Believe it or not, I was able to park our big SUV on the street for free the entire weekend and it was easier to find parking spaces than it was to get an ice bucket at the Marriott.

I liked the redesigned Marriott app and the more reliable mobile key option.

Phil the helpful valet offered to park our car, or save some money by self parking at a nearby garage.

It is an easy walk to major landmarks so you won't need a taxi if you are going to Battery Park, the 9-11 Memorial, One World Trade Center, or other things in the area.

You have to park in a garage across the way.

Right across from Brookfield Place and Battery Park City there was plenty of stores and restaurants nearby that were open and serving.

180 degree views of Battery Park as well as the Hudson.

but MANY things left us regretting our stay, wishing we stayed elsewhere 

The location is very nice for seeing World Trade Center, shopping at Century 21, and walking around Battery Park.

If you’re traveling to NYC and/or Battery Park, stay at The Wagner.

The hotel is a short walk to the 9-11 memorial and Battery Park.

This time, since we planned to see the 9/11 memorial and battery park, we chose a downtown hotel.

The hotel is within walking distance to the Freedom Tower and the WTC Memorial, as well as Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty ferry.

5 mins walk to the battery park. Breakfast was huuuge!)

Battery Park across the street with restaurants and shops along the river.

We were going to focus an entire day on the WTC site, and this hotel is directly across from the site, making access wonderful, as well as giving you access to the financial district and Battery Park City - a great little neighborhood on the Hudson tucked away in downtown with great restaurants and wonderful promenade along the river.

Now with the renovations this is a great spot if you want to be near Battery Park and Wall Street.

A short walk to Battery Park, excellent dining on the Pier and just around the corner from Wall Street and the iconic bull, the property offers qucik access to the local attractions.

Beautiful views of the water, including the Statue of Liberty.

Our room had a view of the Statue of Liberty which was pretty cool.

Concierge lounge was classic and so nice to look out at the Statue of Liberty while enjoying breakfast.

Our room had a view of the Statue of Liberty and it was very quiet.

The concierge lounge had views of the river and Statue of Liberty.

We were upgraded to a suite for one of our rooms which they connected to our other room so it was basically a whole condo style to ourselves with views of the statue of liberty on one side and the city on the other!

The location is great for Ground Zero, Wall St, and Statue of Liberty and even waking the Brooklyn Bridge.

Room was clean and well maintained, and we even had a view of the Statue of Liberty from our room.

It had great views including the Statue of Liberty and was comfortable.

We had a room on the 32nd floor with a view of the harbor and Statue of Liberty.

We stayed in a 2 double bed on 28th floor with views of The Statue of Liberty.

The views of the Statue of Liberty, Governor’s Island, the harbor and the Hudson River were fantastic.

It's also a great location in downtown Manhattan (near Ground Zero and the Statue of Liberty).

Being able to wake up and see the Statue of Liberty from your bed is pretty amazing.

The location is great for 9/11 memorial and for the excursion to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

It was in close proximity to the 911 Memorial,  Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island and if you other museums that we did not get an opportunity to visit.

Nice hotel in a nice area, with the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge nearby.

He upgraded us to a high floor room with a view of the Statue of Liberty and gave us the rollaway bed for free.

Just a couple minute walk away from the World Trade Center and Oculus subway stop.

The property is easily reach by public transit (1 train to Rectory), right next to the World Trade Center.

Close to World Trade Center and PATH to New Jersey - our primary reason to stay here so suited our purposes.

The location is great - next to World Trade Center - and an easy subway ride to our kids living in Brooklyn.

This hotel is also within walking distance of Wall Street, Stock Exchange, World Trade Center buildings and memorials, and Oculus.

We recently spent a Friday night in New York, staying at the Marriott Downtown, near the World Trade Center.

Great view of World Trade Center and lower Manhattan.

but a very clean, nice, quiet, comfortable room near the site of the World Trade Center with good restaurants nearby (especially in TriBeca).

The hotel was in the heart of the Financial District, convenient to the Path Train, World Trade Center, shops and restaurants.

Location is great for World Trade Center - if you need to commute uptown, the taxis were limited, so I used Uber and they have to loop around to get to this property.

The standards I keep Marriott to is pretty high considering I travel to many other Marriott properties this hotel is no exception my one bedroom view displayed the world trade center, as this may be one side of the building this was an extra for me as I love traveling back to New York.

The view of one World Trade Center getting off the elevator is very impressive.

It is very close to the World Trade Center, 5 minutes walk.

but this was a work trip and my business was at the World Trade Center.

We were also granted access to the M Club Lounge on the 2nd floor which offered a generous breakfast spread (we missed the evening appetizers).

The M Club Lounge was also nicely appointed.

Hotel was clean and club lounge was very good.

The M Club lounge is fantastic for a quick bite in morning or water/soft drink.

The hotel has a Club M lounge that is opened 24 hrs where you can get coffee, soft drinks, water, fruit, snack bars etc.
