No such communication had taken place, no missed calls, messages on booking.com.

Phone rang over 25 times , knowing I was calling again. .

In this phone call, they also said that after a company investigated, they found no bed bugs in the room.

We requested them and it took over two hours to get them, after several calls and a visit to the front desk.

Staff calls out so there is only 1 person at the front desk and they are swamped.

The front desk staff doesn’t answer the phone, and when I go down.. there will be three of them at the desk, it takes two hours for them to bring a toilet paper, too many molds on the floor, security won’t come if other guest are loud.

Around 2 am I call them to make sure that I have that room.

There pullout couch had no pillows or blankets I had to call room service and they told me if they had a blanket they would bring me one.

Waited 2 hours and right at 4pm we went back down and lady at desk looked like she had forgot to call us about me!

My one tip to make departure better is don't believe the desk telling you to call 15 - 30 minutes ahead for you car.

There were several rooms on our floor we needed to call the front desk about several times.

but that didn’t help and the lady opted that I had to call Expedia to resolve the problem because it looked like she didn’t want to waste the time with me.

but when we arrived back at 11pm, a shift change had occurred and there had been no engineer and no notes about our call on our room account.

I also had a lot of difficulties reaching the front desk by phone to assure i could check in on time & found no way to get a hold of them after many attempts.

So I call down and tell them please help us as this was supposed to be fixed yesterday.

but why did someone tell me on the phone this was fine ??

The rooms here are spacious and clean and it makes for a more pleasant stay.

Room on the 21st was roomy, quiet (even facing 3rd Ave.) venting window, has a fridge, couch that pulls out & a comfy King size bed.

My only qualm is it charges $39 per night for 'facilities fee' which include $10 daily allowance to get drinks/ snacks from the cupboard.

The only facility the hotel appears to offer is a small gym, to be charged a considerable sum for this is unwelcome.

but NOT on checkout day and the funds don’t roll over.

One thing to be aware of is the "facility fee" charge, which for our room rate of $311 was $39 (12.5%).

We needed to check out one day before our scheduled check out day and we were not charged the extra day.

I would then put it on the card and move on.

Even gave us his card and said if there were issues to call him.

again an example of too many staff, and no one taking charge.

Room wasn’t ready when we arrived at 3pm But reception staff were quick to oblige and told us that we wouldn’t have to wait long.There is a holding charge of $60 per night for any incidentals that may occur during your stay so make sure you have a credit card on you.

On their website there was something about a $10 daily credit for their 'store' so you could buy little snacks etc.

If they want to cut back housekeeping expenses, then at least offer that option to waive housekeeping services for a credit at check-in.

Front desk does not accept any cash, only credit cards.

however the $30 resort fee was steep for wifi, gym, and a $10/day credit for snacks.

If they got lost from us they just needed to show the card to know whew they were staying.

They almost charged for the entire stay until I told them I would dispute with my Amex.

Because they put me up at a sister property, 50NYC, at no charge.

as if that were not enough inconvenience they charged us additional fees that had not been previously reported when we made the reservation, an additional 25 dollars per day as extra fee for wi-fi facilities.

In addition, the hotel ran out of many the items in their lobby's fridge, which was annoying as $10 of the same daily fee that covers the wifi can be used on these items, and if you don't use that $10 credit it's just lost.

There was black mold by the AC (see pic) and the shower drain control was literally falling apart and non-functional (in a closed position, so the tub flooded with every shower).

When I checked in the room smelled musty and possibly smoked in.

but if next to balconies of other building can mean smoke stink.

The location of the bathroom, however, is not great.

Dead trees in planters, cigarette burned cushions, plastic trash lying around and extremely dirty windows/glass doors.

The room was also filthy with old wrappers on the floor.

However, one of my pillows smelled like urine and we REALLY would have liked to have had a fan in the bathroom.

but no ventilation so cooking smells linger.

It is just the smell of the carpet in the corridor that needs attention and the WiFi is so weak, we gave up on it.

The pans weren't scratched and nasty like many places.

The sleeper sofa was dirty and smelly  with a very thin mattress, we could feel the springs.

It's only problem was that it had a strong smell of carpet cleaner that made it difficult for my friend  to sleep.

The hallways smelled like cigarettes on the room floors.

The carpet was stained, bathroom very dated, and some rather potent smells that permeated the hotel and room, including a mildew smell on the lamp shades that was quite noticeable and then just an old food odor that was trapped in the room.

Our room was very spacious with a generous seating area and very well-appointed kitchenette.

We were charged over 130 dollars without a requested explanation.

Note: When I checked in for my most recent stay I was informed of a daily beverage credit at the lobby bar.

When we booked we were told that our bill was paid in full when we checked in they did a $500 incidental fee on our visa and said oh this is just in case you use anything I said no we won’t be using anything, they told us there are two bottles of water free in the room every day.

When I arrived, my basic, economy room was not ready, so the front desk staff upgraded me to a Junior Suite at no additional charge.

(keep in mind consumption of these items is charged to your room).

Instead, it has opted to not have coffee/hot water in the room and charge for it at the lobby level.

We were there for 26 hours, so they charged us for 2 nights parking.

When we reviewed our bill we had a charge on it for the minibar that we never used.

Then the downside: It's very expensive (morning bagels are charged at $19!).

I checked out a day early because of a job conflict it was never told I had to be out of the room by 12 o’clock I was at my daughters graduation I was charged $100 late fee which they would not remove.

Because of lack of facilities they should of given us some money back not added more 
They said we’re get half back on our card when checking out we’re still waiting for it to appear back into our account.

The hotel have not confirmed my reservation is cancelled and reading previous reviews of the hotel, I am now extremely concerned they will charge my credit card despite the fact I have cancelled within their terms and conditions.

But now today, January 15, I see another pending charge for $60.05?

I will contest with a credit card, which I assume won’t be a problem.

We received no bar credit (which we were supposed to receive after the mice ran through) or credit for any of the hassles.

I researched and discovered that they actually downgraded my room without telling me, while still charging the executive room rate!!!!

few days pass no issues until my dad checks his bank and sees hes been charged 300 dollars for tax.

I’m not quite sure what the residents fee is or why they can’t charge this within the upfront cost for transparency

but took a few days to get the credit back.

Cons
1) Annoying ‘residency’ charge of $48 per night.

My one suggestion is that if you need to be able to plug in your laptop and phone at the same time, bring a small out charger that allows you to plug your laptop and other devices into a single AC outlet.

The maid service is excellent, rooms a bit dated. Beware the Residence Fee - $45/night for "internet, phone and gym."

We had to call down to the front desk for some,

There were coffee stains on the rug in our room and stains on the bed skirt. When I called to ask about the residence fee since no one reviewed its benefits when we checked in, I was told it was for the in room phone (Who uses an in room phone!!!)

So, I get a call on my cell phone a few hours later that the cleaners had found the money and put it in a safe place in a drawer by the bed.

It is quite difficult to actually get connected to the front desk when one calls the hotel.

While the architecture is charming late 1920s and the furniture is really lovely, the old carpets, the ancient phones, the exceedingly tired old bathroom fixtures (which barely work anymore) show how very badly this place needs a complete renovation.

Due to the lack of response to my emails (and phone calls) I cancelled my reservation on 25th January.

No responses to emails, and calls are hanged up on.

I have now left a message with the manager’s voicemail explaining the situation.

Days later I had a guest calling to say they'd been charged for parking when they had no vehicle.

She did take off approximately $25 for the "resort fee" or whatever they call it where the hotel adds-on to the bill for the gym, wifi, or other BS add-on fees.

After calling and getting no answer I went to the hotel and took an hour for them to realize they do in fact have them.

Way beyond the call of duty; without Teodoro we would have missed our flight!

The hotel did not call it an inside room,

We had phones and IPads so we’re constantly having to sign out and in again

4) Questionable electric sockets which felt very loose

Our room was slightly older, and I had one issue with a sparking outlet that didn't care for sharing space with my iPhone charger, so do be careful.

On our last morning I realized the maid had not left the condiment packs for coffee and called down to request that three packets be brought up.It took over 45 minutes and three calls to make that happen delaying my shower and cutting short our time to do some last minute souvenir shopping.

The prices should include breasfast that is of higher standards.

The simple principle of charging an additional fee (i.e., keeping most of the deposit) without providing any justification is enough to suggest you stay elsewhere.

The price was more than I normally would pay

This old hotel has too many issues to charge the price they do.

although it would be useful to just publish the actual prices, rather than low balling the headline prices and then adding a variety of extra fees like the "resort fee".

But prices doubled since a year ago and we had to wait for a deal.

We also felt for the cost of a 4 star hotel it would have been nice to offer a few free bottles of water upon arrival especially when it was over 90 degrees outside.

but a big rip off and ruined our trip New York you disappoint and I have read in New York articles.

All for the same price previously paid for small box rooms with no atmosphere at other NYC hotels!

although we did not pay full price so there is a chance it would be less appealing.

Total transportion cost was $9 roundtrip for 2 people.

Insane parking costs, 5 days was over 350 usd.

though posted rate was much higher at the time).

but for a price, we can upgrade you and not make you wait an hour..

Hallway carpet also had a rip along a seam which tells me the problems are not limited to just our room.

This fee is a disappointing new addition/junk fee as the gym and amenities are nothing to write home about.

We realize it's about supply and demand, and that could justify the cost,

In addition be aware that there is construction going on next door - we were on the farther side of the building

however there is construction works happening next door to the hotel.

** Note that there was construction on the street, so there may be some noise if you stay on the front side of the hotel.

The only downfalls were our window faced an alley/brick wall (but I imagine if you pay for a more deluxe suite you would get a better view, we had a basic 2 queen bed room), and the construction of the Waldorf-Astoria next door which could be noisy at times.

The attached restaurant/coffee shop was under construction, a fact which I would have liked to know when I made the reservation.

All in all couldn't fault it, just a little noisy at times from the construction work next door.

but right now on the west side of the building there is a major construction project going on and will be for years I think.

When I first arrived, I was given a small room overlooking a construction site.

There is construction on the E line on weekends

Another traveler alert:  The Blue Line subway was closed from Friday nights to Monday mornings due to construction and will be for months.

Hopefully when we plan our next visit the construction will be further  along.

There is intermittent construction that starts early in the morning for the building next door.

The room we had was very very small for my daughter and I, with no outlook or possibility to open a window which was a shame.

The only downside was the view- or lack there of.

if you are looking for a hotel with restaurant, nightlife, view etc then this is not for you

We were on the 2nd floor and had a really bad view of the next bulding which made our room very dark, no sunlight got in at all.
