I have stayed at The Elysee many times in the past and have always enjoyed the location, comfortable rooms and the excellent service the staff provides with always friendly smile.

The rooms are comfortable - I particularly like the queen room with balcony - and the availability of the lounge for a coffee or tea after a busy day is a nice feature too.

Great location, friendly staff, rooms were comfortable with everything you need and housekeeping staff were great.

The staff is lovely, the rooms are comfortable and well maintained.

The room is very comfortable, the ambiance is old world, the staff are helpful and friendly (we appreciated the advice on locations to watch the fireworks), and the second floor library with its refreshments available at all hours was an oasis during busy days.

Each day when we asked when the lift was going to be working, we were given vague responses.

Most concerning thing was that due to the lifts being slow, the guest use the fire escape staircase, and the hotel has tied the fire doors open.

but I think it is dishonest of them to wait until after you've checked in to disclose that the elevator is not working.

but no working passenger elevator, and terrible wifi are simply inexcusable. "

First, the hotel’s elevator was out for the entire stay - a fact that should have been disclosed to us before we checked in.

There is only one elevator and that meant we were constantly waiting for a an old and slow elevator.

The lift broke down several times during our stay so we had to use the service lift along with the poor staff trying to get on with their work.

This time we had a slight issue in checking in as I specifically had called to make the reservations requesting a room not near the elevators and one with a stall shower.

One minor irritant is the one elevator, which can take quite a while.

The only drawback is the hotel has only one elevator and it can get awfully slow to go up and down, particularly in rush hours.

Overall the hotel has the residential feel of a classic Manhattan apartment building with some of the drawbacks such as a single elevator.

My only hesitation in recommending it more was the very slow internet connection- measured only 20 Mbps as my best speed over two days-luckily I was there on business!

but the service elevator was very slow, and in the morning it was being used for laundry, and- well, service- so it by-passed guests waiting.

Much has been said about the elevator- yes its slow and small.

We were forced to use the hotel’s ancient freight elevator, which was slow, ugly, hot and usually unavailable because it was (predictably) full of staff or repair people.

but here are 3 things I would change: temperature in club room was too warm for my tastes (other guests had similar comments), seating at peak times in club room was tight, and WiFi, although free, was slow.

Ask for earplugs if your room is on the front of the building, and expect slow elevator service at the times mentioned above,

You do need to allow time to ride the elevator is there is only 1 and it is old & slow.

The Monkey Bar is wonderful and we've long ago decided to consider the lone, slow elevator charming.

One VERY MINOR criticism is that the peer is on,y one elevator and it is slow.

Its an old style hotel, and yes, the lift is a bit slow.

We will come again , 
Only negatives are the elevator is slow and there is only one so if you are on a higher floor be prepared to wait .

There is only one lift and it was a little slow and crowded at morning rush hour.

The place needs an overhaul: the single elevator is slow, wait time was often quite long; the street noise was quite annoying, even on the 5th floor.

we prefer a lower floor because the elevator is slow.

Additionally, I would recommend removing the tub/shower combo and convert to shower only to improve functionality in the small bathrooms.

but there is absolutely no space for toiletries and is too small and cramped.

Because of COVID pandemic the hotel was closed for about a year
Now after reopening they are no longer offering breakfast or wine in the afternoons
The refreshments available are not great (potato chips, granola bars,green bananas.

not the most modern by any means, no view, no onsite restaurant, and small bathrooms,

but in certain cases the bathroom are small.

Although the bathroom was on the small side it was very similar to the size you'd encounter in a European hotel.

The only thing is a small bathroom with pedestal sink

Bath was small and there was some black mold that could only be seen from inside the shower.

However, the rooms are a little dated: the bathrooms are too small and don’t have enough shelf space or a magnifying mirror.

The bathroom is too small with nowhere to put your make-up bag, etc.

If there is any downside to the room design, it's that the bathroom doors have glass windows in them.

While the room had plenty of square footage, the configuration of the bathroom door, bedroom door and closet door was a bit awkward.

The rooms are very comfortable ~ the only two things I wasn’t crazy about was only one person can fit in the bathroom at a time unless one in the shower because of the door, the toilet paper was on the wall & hard to turn & reach so put the extra bear in a cubby.

If I have to find anything to complain about, and this is minor, the window in the bathroom door is a bit strange.

Also, there is a glass window on the bathroom door for some reason!

1) The bathroom doors feature frosted glass.

My only criticism is that the bathroom door does not provide the privacy I prefer since the glasses is see-thru,

Minor negatives: 1) window in the bathroom door: despite textured glass, you can definitely make out if someone is dressed or not.

Con - the only con was the bathroom door was a beveled glass.

The only "weakness" of the hotel is the bathroom door have a translucent window so there is a little lack of privacy.

The teen found the frosted glass window in the bathroom door a little disconcerting

As others have commented, the bathroom door had a frosted pane of glass and there was no extractor fan, which may bother some.

but definitely looked it, and the bathroom door was more or less see through.

Our only complaint is the glass window in the bathroom door and therefore, lack of towel hooks.

but I believe they would have brought you one),  The bathtub in our room was weirdly small - low to the ground for someone who may want to take a bath, and while I loved the bathroom door with the beveled glass, my daughter was a little freaked out that we could see her using the facilities (no one was watching).

The only things that could be improved are the bathroom doors, which don't close well, and the air vents in the bathrooms, which are a bit small for their purpose.

but the bathroom door opened and block the shower so that was awkward.

Decor was very generic, it  was impossible to shut bathroom door without walking sideways, outlets near bed for charging were not easily accessible, and there was no television in the bedroom of the suite.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Giraffe: the location is very central, service is great and the rooms are very comfortable.

The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed spending time in the quiet and comfy lobby enjoying the complementary treats.

I cannot compliment the friendliness, help and support of the staff - from receiving packages in advance, to bringing all our luggage, boxes and bags up to the room and then back out when we 'moved' to the dorm, our beautiful and comfortable room - even the snacks and drinks available in the lobby were great.

At night the rooms were very dark (dark blinds) and the noise was not excessive.

The living room looked out into a dark ventilation shaft and as a result was very dull and depressing in the day time (see photo).

There was a motorized screen that blocked the entire balcony window area so that the room was dark for sleeping.

This was a small dingy hotel with maybe 8 rooms per floor, a small dark central corridor, terribly lighting.

but there  are:   (1) It is quite  "tired"  and in need of  renovating as rooms  are dark, furnishing  a bit old and the corridors  decidedly  gloomy.

For starters, I prefer a room to be three things - cold, dark and quiet.

The lighting in the room was a bit dark especially if you wanted to read.

We initially got a very dark and sad suite (which we actually had booked),

The only complaint we have is that the room was so dark and the light insufficient.

If i had to think of a con it would be the dark hallways on the guest floors.

but she had short dark hair and I'd guess is originally from Eastern Europe) was so attentive and kept us topped up!!

The only comment I’d make is that the room was dark even with the lights on and we couldn’t raise the window shade in the sitting room as we looked directly into an office window.

My room was comfortable and at 22nd floor had a great view on the city.

Comfortable room, good responsive service.

The in house entertainment for time in the room was also great a wide option of movies to rent or nearly a 100 live tv stations to watch made the time in the room even more comfortable.

My husband and I enjoyed the nice room and comfortable lobby.

About a month after, as I reviewed my credit card billing, Eventi Kimpton Hotel charged a $1328.13.

They charged and extra $20 for booster seats.

Extra charge for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, movies which is the only thing I found negative as we had to pay extra for absolutely everything.

Ah wells 🤡

But they charged my anyways for the movie after assuring that it will be noted in my folio and that all is good when I checked out in person.

Not sure how the hotel can be billed as luxury - certainly not a great value for the price.

Since we booked directly with Kimpton, I would have expected the "estimated charges" would have been closer than they were (around $75).

but it does not give a feeling of a service-oriented hotel and to make matters worse, guests are charged a 20 USD amenity fee which is supposed to include business services so one more reason to feel their refusal was a bit awkward.

They asked for another swipe of a credit card and then presented a new key.

I thought I’d charge my phone  while having a glass of wine.

My only complaint. And it's not a major issue, is that upon checking out, they charged us a $20 per day "resort fee."

I had spent half an hour in the rain looking for the misplaced card.

At the end of the month, there appeared on my credit card statement an entirely unsolicited refund of every penny we had spent on our stay.

Management needs to offer more than $50 credit when a guest gets as inconvenienced as I was- I spent the remainder of my stay afraid to use any water for brushing teeth or drinking.

However, I wonder how many guests would not bother to call, or would think that the charge was legitimate.

but then we were charged $22, obviously a "golden chicken" laid these eggs.

If you get a coffee from the bar you are charged for it!

A very Comfortable room that was a nice size for a single!

The room was comfortable and we particularly liked the movie theme.

The owners are delightful and helpful; the room was comfortable and stylish; the bathroom was very nice; the staff was kind and patient; breakfast was great with really good coffee; everything was well thought out; the vibe was friendly, safe, and unpretentious. They have thought about every detail (like a business center where I could sit in a charming room with two computers and not bother my daughter.)

The rooms are quite comfortable and the breakfast they offer is absolutely wonderful.

The only flaw I could find is the lack of an elevator, if you’re located on the last floors is not optimal.

Chelsea Pines has five floors and no elevator so I requested and was given a first floor room just before the breakfast area.
