The only flaw I could find is the lack of an elevator, if you’re located on the last floors is not optimal.

Chelsea Pines has five floors and no elevator so I requested and was given a first floor room just before the breakfast area.

That there was no elevator was known up front.

The toilets are tiny and uncomfortable
- Accessibility - the listing says “no elevator”, what they don’t tell you is that you will need to climb to the 5th floor in a narrow and steep staircase
- Breakfast - there is NO breakfast (although they advertise it as “breakfast included”).

The one limit for some people is that there is no elevator.

There’s no elevator, which may bother some travelers (although I didn’t care), and steps at the entrance may make access difficult – if not impossible – for handicapped visitors.

Caveat: There is no elevator for this steep 5-floor walk up, so those with walking disabilities may be discouraged from staying here.

Don’t miss this detail:  it is a walk-up - NO ELEVATOR.

I was informed my room was on the fifth floor and, no, they don't have an elevator.

My room on the 1st floor was tiny (OK with me) so the abscence of elevator didn't bother me at all.

There is no elevator so there is a possibility of walking up 5 flights (staff will carry your bags).

It is extremely convenient for the subway (a 2 minute walk away) and you can walk to Greenwich Village, the shops of 8th Avenue, the Highline, Chelsea Market and many other places.

An amazing location for Greenwich Village, Meatpacking  District and Chelsea Market,  and so we'll connected on the subway.

Also the location is great, being close to the subway station, Chelsea Market and Greenwich Village!

Walking distance to Chelsea Market, Union Square, Highline, Greenwich Village and more.

but welcoming guest house in a great location - it’s quiet but only a few minute’s walk to Chelsea market and Greenwich Village.

The location is second-to-none - it's on the borders of Chelsea, Greenwich Village and Meatpacking, and the subway is steps away.

Easy walk to Chelsea Market, High Line and Greenwich village.

Excellent location, just a minute from the subway and a short walk into Greenwich Village,

If you want to stay close to the fabulous experience that Chelsea/Greenwich Village have to offer while staying in a clean, comfortable, quite  place with great breakfast that won’t drain your budget.

The very central location close to Subway and buses, close to Greenwich Village and close to some very nice spots in NYC.

Great location close to The High Line , Chelsea Market, Greenwich Village, West Village and. .

The hotel is in a perfect location for getting to Chelsea Market and Greenwich Village.

Short walk to subway stop (1/4 block), High Line, Chelsea with galleries and Chelsea Market, Greenwich Village - a smaller neighborhood feel with quick access to the whole of the city - really a perfect location.

It is just a short walk to the start of the High Line with plenty of places to eat nearby and Greenwich village only 15 minutes walk from here.

The location is great right next to the subway and Greenwich Village which has a great vibe.

From Soho to Greenwich Village, from Union Square to Midtown, from the Upper West Side to Harlem, I have laid my head to rest in every corner of this great city.

Chelsea Pines is located just north of Greenwich Village on 14th St near 8th Ave. That puts you within easy walking distance of so many options for shopping, food, art, basically everything that you'd want to experience during a trip to NYC.

The location couldn't be better if you like to spend your time in the West Village and Greenwich Village.

It is well situated in Chelsea near restaurants , the Highline ,Chelsea Market and Greenwich Village etc .

Chelsea pines is on the edge of Greenwich Village and Chelsea so the choice and variety of good local restaurants is wonderful.

The dining area is charming (both indoor and out) and we appreciated the fresh and good quality baked goods at breakfast.

6) Quiet (yay)

7) Breakfast at 7:00 AM with a lovely skylit dining area or a backyard patio.

The suite is 3x larger than our first apartment, with a private outdoor area, full kitchen, large dining area, living room, sleeping area, BIG!

Not to mention all the great restaurants in the area.

(Nice to see some greenery in a big city) The dining area is open all day for you to grab a tea, coffee or soft drink with a biscuit - all on the house.

Tons to eat and do in the area, and lots of great neighborhoods nearby to explore.

Granola and fresh fruit with yoghurt was a good way to start the day with the occasional fresh croissant with cold meat..The small dining area was great with a glasshouse, so you could gauge your activities for the day depending on the weather..Most travellers we met, were friendly, which added to the stay and experience.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, pointing us in the direction of their favourite restaurants in the area; the ones we tried were the best we ate in over a 2 week trip to NYC and Washington DC.

They give you great tips for things to do and restaurants in the area.

The breakfast was top notch, and the addition of having a garden area outside where I could eat surrounded by lovely trees and foliage in the middle if the city was wonderful.

We felt safe and were happy to give our business to small shops and local eateries in the area.

The staff was very helpful in directing me to the subway that I was looking for and suggesting restaurants in the area.

but we were also given some information leaflets which included a map of New York, a list of the best restaurants in the area and also a leaflet about the local area and where all the best boutiques were.

It's really nice coming in late and being able to get a few snacks from the dining area.

The staff were so helpful and friendly, and their tips on things to see and places to eat in the area were pure gold.

but there is a sunroom & wonderful outside area to eat.

Each morning there was an info sheet slipped under the door that had helpful hints on things to do in the city and they also give you recommendations on places to dine in the area (Momofuku in the East Village- yum!).

The staff was helpful pointing out highlights of the neighborhood and keeping the rooms, dining area and garden spotless and comfortable.

Troy Capano, one of the managers, was a great source for great restaurants in the area.

The breakfast selection was great and I loved the eating area in the back yard.

Our room was very small, only fits the bed and the space necessary to move to the bathroom

but tiny room and the bathroom even smaller, could barely fit in.

This was the first time I stayed in a standard room and it was very small.

The rooms are small, the breakfast area is small with limited food options.

My room was small (but not too small) on the top floor and the five flights of stairs definitely had my heart rate up by the time I walked in the door!

New coffee machine (meh), fewer breakfast goodies, and indifferent staff at front desk made us sad and more aware of the tiny rooms and steep stairs to tiny rooms.

And, the rooms might be a bit too small for some.

With no elevator, small rooms, furniture and interiours slightly dated, a hotel has to offer something very special as compensation.

A five-story walk up in stairs that look like they will fall apart, barely could get my suitcase up.

My room was on the top floor and I'm in my 70's and had no trouble going up 4 flights of stairs.

Not so keen on the trek up 5 flights of stairs

Climbing 5 long flights of stairs because they don't have an elevator was more of an issue - one that I was not aware of at the time I booked the room.

The up is you don't have to climb all the stairs - the down is that you can hear people having breakfast if you want a sleep in.

however that there are no elevators in the building, and depending on where your room is located, you may have to walk up quite a fair bit of stairs.

And, don't kid yourself, those stairs are hard work as they're small and steep.

The only drawback is there is no elevator so if stairs are a problem for you then you might want to let them know.

The only downsides were the aircon being quite loud - I had to make a choice whether I wanted to be hot at night or put up with the noise - and there is no lift, so be prepared for a lot of stairs.

Quite sad it has no elevator, because I stayed on the fifth floor and the stairs were quite steep.

but if you aren't comfortable climbing several flights of stairs, our 5th floor room would have been a problem. Overall, would definitely recommend, especially if you plan on spending time in Chelsea Market (1.5 block walk) or at stops along the A/C/E or L trains (1 block walk to the station.)

As has been noted with other reviewers, there is no elevator, so anyone that has issues climbing stairs or are very unfit would struggle up to the upper floors..

On the negative side, we were not expecting to walk up four flights of stairs every time we went to our room.

When I booked, I was warned about the lack of elevators, so the walk up the stairs to the fourth floor did not bother us.

Also no elevator, so we had to carry everything up 3 floors of steep stairs.

In hindsight, I should have taken the cab because there are few elevators and no escalators in New York meaning I had to carry my heavy suitcase up several flights of stairs.

I learn a lot about Ann-Margret through the movie posters :-) 
Keep in mind that the inn doesn't have an elevator, so you need to be able to go up the stairs if you have a room on the 4th and 5th floor.

Great location near Chelsea market, high line and subway on corner of the street.

If you want to explore the cool hoods in Manhattan, choose the Chelsea Pines, the High Line is almost next door, it’s a five minute walk to the Hudson River, a fantastic diner is across the street and the subway station 14th/ 8 Av is 1 minute away.

Friendly staff. A few steps from subway A, E, C, less than 2 blocks from High Line, within walking distance from both One World Trade Centre and Time Square (about 40, 30 mins resp.)

We walked to the High Line, Chelsea Market is right around the corner, <1 mile walk to Washington Square Park and Joe’s Pizza, which is phenomenal!

You can easily reach Chelsea Market and High Line in two minutes.

Very near all the fun Chelsea things like Chelsea Market, High Line, Whitney Museum, etc.

High Line and Chelsea Market are next door.

High line and Chelsea market a 5 minute wal away  Room was clean and comfortable, air con was wonderful!

Location is wonderful - 5 mins walk from the High Line and the Whitney Art Museum.

Close to High Line, Chelsea Market, subway, etc.

The inn is located less than 4 blocks from the Whitney Museum, green spaces (Hudson River, Little Island Park, High Line walkway), and shops (Chelsea Market,  CVS Pharmacy, neighborhood restaurants, Gucci, Diane Von Furstenberg, Lulumon).

Let's break down the good points first:
1) Two blocks from the High Line and Chelsea Market.

Such a good place (cost-benefit) good location,subway entrance just right at the corner, 2 blocks away from chelsea market and high line park, staff is friendly and always willing to help.

Close to subway, Chelsea Market, High Line, and Little Island Park.

Also, it is located in a great area with food options, the subway is at the end of the block, the Hudson Riber Park, Little Island and the High Line all within a 10 minute walk.

The hotels is in a great location, close to the Chelsea market, High line and subway.

Perfect location next to Chelsea Market and High Line, and close to metro.

My husband and I  spent 5 peaceful nights sleeing in a quet room on a comfortable bed in this charming brownstone close to the Chelsea Market , High Line and  Subway .

Amenities include a Q line subway station just outside, a washer/dryer in our 2 bedroom apt, a less touristy NYC neighborhood, a grocery store down the street, proximity to the Met and Guggenheim museums, and some interesting eating choices.

We booked the 3 bedroom apartment which also has 3 bathrooms which was a bonus.

One bedroom apartment this time, clean & comfy and with the added bonus of the Q line on the doorstep.

A perfect choice as we had a two bedroom apartment with two baths and a kitchen.

Very impressed with the two bedroom apartment on 26th Floor with a great view of the Empire State Building at the other end of Manhattan.

We had a 1 bedroom apartment and used the sofa bed also. Perfect!

We have usually had the one bedroom apartment and it is perfect.

The one bedroom apartments are comfortable for a family of 4.

Our 1 bedroom apartment had a terrific view from the 14th floor, was always well serviced and we could prepare breakfast and cooked some evening meals with a grocery Store nearby.

The hotel exceeded my expectations by being clean, spacious, comfortable and quiet..  Our one bedroom apartment (converted condo apparently) had a full sized kitchen with nice Crate & Barrel type 
dinnerware.

Rooms appear to all be studio, one bedroom, or two bedroom apartments with complete kitchen.

The suite was as spacious as a two bedroom apartment (outside of Manhattan),

We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was absolutely huge and gave us all space to relax after a busy day in the city.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom Apartment which was sooo big and comfy, new TV's in all rooms and a well stocked kitchen.

The 1 bedroom apartment was clean, up to date and comfortable.

The two bedroom apartment that we stayed in as very spacious and well appointed.

My wife and I stayed in a high floor, one bedroom apt with a complete kitchen which was roomy, comfortable and came supplied with everything except your food and drink.

The only thing I would make a note of is that there was quite a bit of construction going on during our time here and the rooms can get a bit cold so the heater's a bit tricky to figure out.

All the noise was from the street and seemed to be related to buses hitting a bump in the 2nd Ave. and construction on neighboring buildings which seemed to start at 6AM and noise did not die down until 1am.

A few years ago there was apparently noise from subway construction,

Finally do not be put off by Google maps street views as they show the construction of the subway station now all completed.

Hameed gets five+ stars from us. As for cons, there was some construction noise from inside the hotel(?)

but there was loud construction going on outside of the hotel that made it very difficult to sleep at night.

but other than occasionally being alittle tricky with cabs not being able to pull down 94th (you can flag down a few steps up at 2nd) you really don't notice or hear  the construction from the rooms.

In addition the balcony was out of use and strewn with a large amount of debris and construction materials.

The only issue is that there is an extension to the subway line being built outside of the hotel which results in some construction noise

Though construction was on when I visited and it was a bit noisy,

To be honest we didn't notice much as we were up and out early in the morning and when we returned the construction workers had gone home.

The subway construction is so noisy at this point that in rooms like mine, there is loud banging starting at 8 AM.

What is more shocking is the fact that during the numerous emails we had with Virgins "rep" in New York not ONCE did they tell us about the construction site.

but don't let that put you off, just a little construction around you, its NY, there are not many places you won't find construction.

Except for the noise of the 2nd Ave. subway construction, the building is well-insulated and feels private.

The subway construction is no longer noisy.

Additionally, there is a subway construction on the corner and along way the 3rd avenue that generates noise and traffic problems.

The only negative is that there is construction on 2nd ave due to the subway work.

This hotel is located in a very nice neighborhood within walking distance of subway stops (there's one right one the corner), lots of restaurants and a few grocery stores for those who might want to self cater.

There are many restaurants in the area, and also places to buy groceries if you want to cook your own meals.

Good selection of bars and shops in the neighbourhood,great grocery store (Key Foods) just a 2 minute walk away.

Great neighborhood for food groceries, Local Cash only restaurants and bars.

If you are looking to travel cheap like us, further down past the starbucks is a grocery store called "Key Foods" which has everything you need for your apartment.

Located right next to the station for the #2 subway, across the street from a wonderful restaurant and down the street from a full grocery store.

- There is a grocery store within two short blocks that has everything including gourmet items and they have great sales that change daily.

Great grocery store five minute walk away and plenty of restaurants around if you don't want to cook.

It’s not just that it’s so convenient to the Q, the grocery, parks, and restaurants.

We were within walking distance (2-5 mins) to local shops, grocery stores, the pharmacy, cafes, restaurants and the metro station.

Being in the upper east side this property is close to local grocery stores and restaurants and take out restaurants.

The immediate neighborhood has everything you need: lots of restaurants, bodegas, a grocery store, drug store, and subway access.

..close to the subway and grocery store close as well also plenty of places to eat with in walking distance.

A grocery store about two blocks south and the Q line subway was right on the corner.

There are places to eat and groceries very close by.

The hotel is located within steps of the new Second Avenue subway station, and within steps of coffee shops, delicatessens and the Key Foods grocery store.

Sinai which was a nice walk, extremely convenient to restaurants, grocery and pharmacies.

Yes, the furnishings are a bit banged up and the hallway rugs are probably ready to be swapped out having acquired those marks of lots of traffic that diligent cleaning only manages to fade.

We had some relatively minor issues: the apartment lights were not working in the bedroom on arrival, the air con was very loud, the furnishings (as others have referred to) is starting to look tired with carpet stains etc, and the kitchen have very limited cooking utensils like frying pans etc.We were given a room with a balcony

Fortunately, we had earplugs, so the noise did not affect our sleep.

Suggestions for NYC:

-NYC is a noisy place to visit and the last week of December is a waste of money.

but very tired and very noisy even though we were on the 18th floor.

I'm from the country, and so am not used to the general hum of a million air conditioning units that is a constant noise in New York, so it may be a general issue with the city rather than the hotel,

but NYC is a busy city so it wasn't unexpected that we heard street noises in the early morning.

Ability to sleep depends on your tolerance to city noise.

Lower rooms are a bit noisy from the street traffic.

You can hear traffic all day and night, even from the 15th floor.

The hotel was getting some work done on the face of the building so it was pretty noisy

The hotel is not located hear a lot of attractions

During the above stated times you may see or hear these teams working.

Had a small balcony from the living / dining area which had a lovely view, bedrooms all had a nice view.

but extremely friendly, the beds are comfortable and having a living room, dining area as well as a kitchen and daily maid service was absolutely fantastic.

The 'room' was huge - a large bedroom, large living room, kitchen, dining area and two bathrooms.

but it, and the living: dining areas were comfortable.

The suite was very spacious and offered a living room with balcony and pullout couch, separate bedroom, small bathroom, dining area, and a full kitchen better than the one I had in my first apartment.

Lounge, dining area & kitchen, light & open with fabulous all round views.

The staff provided us with number of maps as well as a list of recommended restaurants in the area.

We had the most amazing time in NYC, We saw everything that there was to be seen in our 5 days there, We did a massive  amount of walking so we were thrilled with the huge suite we were allocated at The Marmara Hotel, 

The suite had a great size bedroom for my husband & I plus an on-suite bathroom, A fabulous living area with a flat screen TV, a fully equiped Kitchen with fridge & dishwasher, a dining area, washer & dryer facilites.

Restaurants in area also cheaper than mid-town touristy areas which is a nice plus.

Lots of restaurants in the area as well as grocery stores.

They have menus from the many ethnic restaurants in the area and we had lots of great meals delivered right to our door :) We enjoyed the walk to the subway every day, and truly miss our NYC neighborhood! We will be back :)

He was very helpful in telling us about restaurants around the area.

We stopped in at a few different pubs in the area on our way back to the hotel most nights which were all nice and friendly.

The area has lots of restaurants and cute shops, the Upper East Side is a great neighborhood and felt very safe.

There are several grocery stores within a short walk and numerous restaurants in the area.

We had a 3 bedroom apartment on the 29th floor which had 3 huge bedrooms with ensuites and beds to die for, a substantial living and dining area together with a washing machine and dryer.

There are many good restaurants in the area.

but we came here to be in the Upper East so it was perfect.

My only qualm is it charges $39 per night for 'facilities fee' which include $10 daily allowance to get drinks/ snacks from the cupboard.

The only facility the hotel appears to offer is a small gym, to be charged a considerable sum for this is unwelcome.

but NOT on checkout day and the funds don’t roll over.

One thing to be aware of is the "facility fee" charge, which for our room rate of $311 was $39 (12.5%).

We needed to check out one day before our scheduled check out day and we were not charged the extra day.

I would then put it on the card and move on.

Even gave us his card and said if there were issues to call him.

again an example of too many staff, and no one taking charge.
