My only qualm is it charges $39 per night for 'facilities fee' which include $10 daily allowance to get drinks/ snacks from the cupboard.

The only facility the hotel appears to offer is a small gym, to be charged a considerable sum for this is unwelcome.

but NOT on checkout day and the funds don’t roll over.

One thing to be aware of is the "facility fee" charge, which for our room rate of $311 was $39 (12.5%).

We needed to check out one day before our scheduled check out day and we were not charged the extra day.

I would then put it on the card and move on.

Even gave us his card and said if there were issues to call him.

again an example of too many staff, and no one taking charge.

Room wasn’t ready when we arrived at 3pm But reception staff were quick to oblige and told us that we wouldn’t have to wait long.There is a holding charge of $60 per night for any incidentals that may occur during your stay so make sure you have a credit card on you.

On their website there was something about a $10 daily credit for their 'store' so you could buy little snacks etc.

If they want to cut back housekeeping expenses, then at least offer that option to waive housekeeping services for a credit at check-in.

Front desk does not accept any cash, only credit cards.

however the $30 resort fee was steep for wifi, gym, and a $10/day credit for snacks.

If they got lost from us they just needed to show the card to know whew they were staying.

They almost charged for the entire stay until I told them I would dispute with my Amex.

Because they put me up at a sister property, 50NYC, at no charge.

as if that were not enough inconvenience they charged us additional fees that had not been previously reported when we made the reservation, an additional 25 dollars per day as extra fee for wi-fi facilities.

In addition, the hotel ran out of many the items in their lobby's fridge, which was annoying as $10 of the same daily fee that covers the wifi can be used on these items, and if you don't use that $10 credit it's just lost.

Visited as a family with 3 girls from teenaged up so needed plenty of room which we got .

This is a great hotel for families visiting NYC because it’s in a great location- within walking distance of MOMA, Bloomingdale’s, Serendipity III, and in a nice quiet part of the city.

Booked a room at  Gardens NYC hotel for our family vacation and had a great stay!!!

Stayed here for a family member’s surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering - Hotel staff was pleasant, room was clean and spacious with kitchen being a plus.

Very convenient and our hotel of choice when visiting family in UES.

My family and I came solely because this hotel was very close to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital Cancer Center.

This was a great spot for our family of 5 with older children.

We'll definitely be back and will spread the good word amongst our friends and family.

We stayed in a two bed suite, which included a pull out bed and a full kitchenette.

The full kitchen came in handy for snacks and some meals.

The unit had a FULL kitchen with High end appliance, Bosh, LG and Miele .

The good: location, quiet room that faced the rear of the hotel, large full kitchen with dishwasher and clothes washer.

Excellent facilities, very large rooms w kitchen and full size refrigerator, reclining chair ideal for postoperative recuperation.

We had the use of a little kitchen, (whilst not a full kitchen like at home, it served its' purpose and we never intended to cook a meal).

but I worked during the day in the room so it was worth paying up for more space, and the full kitchen cut down on food costs.

Full kitchen enabled us to eat breakfast in the room every day which saved a significant amount of money.

The rooms, converted from apartments and thus more spacious than at typical hotels, include well-equipped full kitchens that are indispensable for longer stays.

The suites have a full living area, full bath, two major closets and a full kitchen.

The suite I was upgraded to was so spacious - living room, dining room, full kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms.

There was a full kitchen with pots and pans and a large fridge and a little counter to dine on.

Plenty of restaurants in the area as well as an easy way to order for delivery.

The bed was comfy, there’s a separate dining area with comfortable built-in seating, and a sofa for cozy TV viewing.

There are a couple of nice diners in the area and a convenience store and subway station everything is there for a great stay in Manhattan.

Fantastic place to stay as a family as our room had a full kitchen and living room, dining area, and plenty of closet space.

The terrace suite was fantastic and easily accommodated our family needs with ample space including a separate full kitchen, combined dining area / lounge area and the separate sleeping areas.

Huge bedroom with 2 queens, large living room with sleep sofa,galley kitchen, eating area and fabulous outdoor patio.

We all stayed in a SPACIOUS suite with kitchen, dining area and livingroom.

It was great to have a kitchen so we could cook some of our meals (with our youngest being 3 we couldn't go out every night) and a great little dining area.

The area has some great restaurants with in a block.

Positives:
- One of the few hotels we could find with rooms that sleep families of five
- rooms were large - ours looked like an apartment complete with galley kitchen, dining area, etc.

There is lots of great food in the area and some famous attractions within walking distance.

The room was very large, with a full kitchen, dining area and sitting area overlooking a beautiful garden.

The subway station is only a couple of minutes away and there are loads of nice restaurants in the area.

There was black mold by the AC (see pic) and the shower drain control was literally falling apart and non-functional (in a closed position, so the tub flooded with every shower).

When I checked in the room smelled musty and possibly smoked in.

but if next to balconies of other building can mean smoke stink.

The location of the bathroom, however, is not great.

Dead trees in planters, cigarette burned cushions, plastic trash lying around and extremely dirty windows/glass doors.

The room was also filthy with old wrappers on the floor.

However, one of my pillows smelled like urine and we REALLY would have liked to have had a fan in the bathroom.

but no ventilation so cooking smells linger.

It is just the smell of the carpet in the corridor that needs attention and the WiFi is so weak, we gave up on it.

The pans weren't scratched and nasty like many places.

The sleeper sofa was dirty and smelly  with a very thin mattress, we could feel the springs.

It's only problem was that it had a strong smell of carpet cleaner that made it difficult for my friend  to sleep.

The hallways smelled like cigarettes on the room floors.

The carpet was stained, bathroom very dated, and some rather potent smells that permeated the hotel and room, including a mildew smell on the lamp shades that was quite noticeable and then just an old food odor that was trapped in the room.

but dirty, looked like dog urine stains on the carpet.

Garden Suites was fairly close to all the big hospitals of the Upper East Side.

We love this hotel on the Upper East Side.

This hotel is very well located on the Upper East Side and enormous room for a NYC hotel.

Located in the most convenient and quiet section of the Upper East Side, the Garden Suites is an oasis of peace, convenience and great service!

We highly recommend this hotel for a great stay in New York's upper East Side.

The hotel is great for extended stays and is well located on the upper east side of Manhattan.

The location on the Upper East Side was great- we were able to walk to so many of the places we wanted to go, and it was nice to be out of the hustle and bustle of busier parts of the city.

It is convenient to the newly extended Q train, so easy to get to midtown and to the Upper East Side.

The neighborhood being on the upper east side was peaceful.

Very safe, quiet residential area (upper east side).

Affinia Gardens is a lovely hotel and conveniently located  on the Upper East Side.

We were surprised and frankly delighted to find instead a one-bedroom apartment, complete with a small,

We stayed here for 9 days as we wanted a 1 bedroom apartment.

Our one bedroom apartment was spacious and comfortable, if slightly worn.

We had a fabulous 1 bedroom apartment on the 5th floor with big bedroom, big sitting room and a very well fitted out kitchen and bathroom.

Amenities include a Q line subway station just outside, a washer/dryer in our 2 bedroom apt, a less touristy NYC neighborhood, a grocery store down the street, proximity to the Met and Guggenheim museums, and some interesting eating choices.

We know what works for us and that is a suite - essentially a one-bedroom apartment (the Hilton Grand Vacations at Sea World in Orlando ruined us for hotel rooms), and after a lot of searching online, we found the Marmara.

We booked the 3 bedroom apartment which also has 3 bathrooms which was a bonus.

A perfect choice as we had a two bedroom apartment with two baths and a kitchen.

Very impressed with the two bedroom apartment on 26th Floor with a great view of the Empire State Building at the other end of Manhattan.

We had a 1 bedroom apartment and used the sofa bed also. Perfect!

We have usually had the one bedroom apartment and it is perfect.

The one bedroom apartments are comfortable for a family of 4.

Our 1 bedroom apartment had a terrific view from the 14th floor, was always well serviced and we could prepare breakfast and cooked some evening meals with a grocery Store nearby.

The hotel exceeded my expectations by being clean, spacious, comfortable and quiet..  Our one bedroom apartment (converted condo apparently) had a full sized kitchen with nice Crate & Barrel type 
dinnerware.

Rooms appear to all be studio, one bedroom, or two bedroom apartments with complete kitchen.

The only thing I would make a note of is that there was quite a bit of construction going on during our time here and the rooms can get a bit cold so the heater's a bit tricky to figure out.

All the noise was from the street and seemed to be related to buses hitting a bump in the 2nd Ave. and construction on neighboring buildings which seemed to start at 6AM and noise did not die down until 1am.

A few years ago there was apparently noise from subway construction,

Finally do not be put off by Google maps street views as they show the construction of the subway station now all completed.

The noise from the construction outside was unbelievable.

The hotel was under construction during our visit in December 2015,

There will soon be subway services right outside the door when the construction is finished.

Although the construction of the 2nd Ave. subway is a major public undertaking, it didn’t affect our stay at all.

2nd Avenue is still under construction for the subway.

Construction on 94th St. was a puzzle to figure out each day.

The building is being renovated from the outside and there is a subway construction on the block without having an impact during our stay.

The comfort, service, staff, accommodations and location are the best despite the noisy subway construction, delivery trucks, and ambulances.

but there was loud construction going on outside of the hotel that made it very difficult to sleep at night.

but other than occasionally being alittle tricky with cabs not being able to pull down 94th (you can flag down a few steps up at 2nd) you really don't notice or hear  the construction from the rooms.

In addition the balcony was out of use and strewn with a large amount of debris and construction materials.

The construction requires that the water is turned off over night- all the water.

The only issue is that there is an extension to the subway line being built outside of the hotel which results in some construction noise

This hotel is located in a very nice neighborhood within walking distance of subway stops (there's one right one the corner), lots of restaurants and a few grocery stores for those who might want to self cater.

There are many restaurants in the area, and also places to buy groceries if you want to cook your own meals.

Good selection of bars and shops in the neighbourhood,great grocery store (Key Foods) just a 2 minute walk away.

Great neighborhood for food groceries, Local Cash only restaurants and bars.

If you are looking to travel cheap like us, further down past the starbucks is a grocery store called "Key Foods" which has everything you need for your apartment.

Located right next to the station for the #2 subway, across the street from a wonderful restaurant and down the street from a full grocery store.

- There is a grocery store within two short blocks that has everything including gourmet items and they have great sales that change daily.

Great grocery store five minute walk away and plenty of restaurants around if you don't want to cook.

It’s not just that it’s so convenient to the Q, the grocery, parks, and restaurants.

We were within walking distance (2-5 mins) to local shops, grocery stores, the pharmacy, cafes, restaurants and the metro station.

Being in the upper east side this property is close to local grocery stores and restaurants and take out restaurants.

The immediate neighborhood has everything you need: lots of restaurants, bodegas, a grocery store, drug store, and subway access.

..close to the subway and grocery store close as well also plenty of places to eat with in walking distance.

A grocery store about two blocks south and the Q line subway was right on the corner.

The little Key market a half block down on 2nd had everything we needed for whatever in-room groceries we wanted, and the kitchen has the necessary essentials for basic meal preps, or for storing/reheating restaurant leftovers.

There are places to eat and groceries very close by.

The hotel is located within steps of the new Second Avenue subway station, and within steps of coffee shops, delicatessens and the Key Foods grocery store.

As with most rooms in NYC, you'll hear traffic,

We had some relatively minor issues: the apartment lights were not working in the bedroom on arrival, the air con was very loud, the furnishings (as others have referred to) is starting to look tired with carpet stains etc, and the kitchen have very limited cooking utensils like frying pans etc.We were given a room with a balcony

Fortunately, we had earplugs, so the noise did not affect our sleep.

but despite that, the road noise was significant as the windows did not fit well.

- This room was EXTREMELY noisy in the bedroom

but very tired and very noisy even though we were on the 18th floor.

Stayed here for 8;days.The first room allocated was noisy akin to a jumbo jet noise and couldn’t sleep.After complaining we we moved to the 15th floor which was good.The Hotel definitely has good and bad rooms,and the desk staff are well aware of what is good and bad.The whole building is aging

Due to leak windows, a little bit of the city noise came through,

The first night we were on the 4th floor and about 2 metres away from massive fans that kept us awake all night.

Perhaps they can get double paned windows for the sound,

AC didn’t work (I like it very cold), road noise was insane that night with sirens all night (I'm a light sleeper) and the bed was pretty rough.

although as I was close to the street level I did hear some sounds.

It's a little quieter than the midtown area (although it's always noisy in NYC).

Noise from 2nd avenue and 94th is as you would imagine,

Lower rooms are a bit noisy from the street traffic.

Had a small balcony from the living / dining area which had a lovely view, bedrooms all had a nice view.

There are also multiple restaurants in the area, some of which I have reviewed separately.

but extremely friendly, the beds are comfortable and having a living room, dining area as well as a kitchen and daily maid service was absolutely fantastic.

The 'room' was huge - a large bedroom, large living room, kitchen, dining area and two bathrooms.

The suite was very spacious and offered a living room with balcony and pullout couch, separate bedroom, small bathroom, dining area, and a full kitchen better than the one I had in my first apartment.

The staff provided us with number of maps as well as a list of recommended restaurants in the area.

We had the most amazing time in NYC, We saw everything that there was to be seen in our 5 days there, We did a massive  amount of walking so we were thrilled with the huge suite we were allocated at The Marmara Hotel, 

The suite had a great size bedroom for my husband & I plus an on-suite bathroom, A fabulous living area with a flat screen TV, a fully equiped Kitchen with fridge & dishwasher, a dining area, washer & dryer facilites.

Restaurants in area also cheaper than mid-town touristy areas which is a nice plus.

Lots of restaurants in the area as well as grocery stores.

Lots of shops and restaurants in the area, a few blocks from subway.

They have menus from the many ethnic restaurants in the area and we had lots of great meals delivered right to our door :) We enjoyed the walk to the subway every day, and truly miss our NYC neighborhood! We will be back :)

We stopped in at a few different pubs in the area on our way back to the hotel most nights which were all nice and friendly.

I only booked this hotel because it is on the Upper East side and I had a meeting close by.

The hotel is in a residential area of Manhattan's upper east side

The hotel is in a great location if you want to be on the Upper East Side, the staff is exceptionally nice and helpful, the rooms are clean and well-sized, each unit has a kitchen, and the price is reasonable.

I chose it due to location, as there are not many options on the Upper East Side of Manhattan where I needed to stay and the very nice pictures on Hotels.com..
