but I have a gluten allergy and I asked one of the staff in the breakfast area if they had any gluten free bread in the back.

First time to NYC, front desk was exceptional as well as the breakfast staff.

Full breakfast every morning included and the breakfast staff especially Carlos and Claudia were exceptional and a credit to the hotel.

The breakfast attendants, Claudia and Carlos, were quick to pick up dishes and all aspects of the breakfast were clean and plentiful.

The main reason why I am writing this review is to comment on the excellent service that was provided by the morning breakfast staff in Carlos and Claudia.

The staff have been very friendly and are always eager to help :) 

Special shout-out to Claudia and Carlos (staff that help out during breakfast) - they always greet us with a smile early in the morning and are super attentive with their service.

Again, the breakfast staff Carlos and Claudia was the HIGHLIGHT of my stay.

Carlos and Claudia who are helping in the breakfast area are very nice and kind.

The hotel does have some minor downfalls, including too few elevators and construction noise,

I would have given the hotel 4* if they had been upfront about the construction.

Honking, construction noises, the din of people, the light pollution and the stinky smell that permeates the city, all contribute to make this city, a city that doesn't care if you sleep.

We stayed on the 6th floor and could hear construction at night

Second, when we opened the window, pilled up dust outside the window sill blew right in, and it always smelled like concrete or any sort of construction debris.

Ask for room 1504 as it gave a great view towards it, looking up, of course (hotel is only 17 stories high) and, as of this time of writing, construction on the empty lot in between this Marriott and the Chrysler Building hasn't yet started,

My only complain was the construction next door.

The hotel did not alert us to the construction

There was construction outside of our window that made sleeping in difficult

Keep in mind there is LOUD CONSTRUCTION outside.

I would add that they are doing construction on a near-by hotel so the rooms are noisy during the day.

As the work week began, we discovered very early Tuesday morning that an extremely loud construction project is going on next door.

Although the room looked out over a construction site (an empty plot of land in 47th Street), the whole week we were staying there was no actual construction being done.

In the morning was woken up by construction site next door.

Only downside was construction of new building at rear of hotel.

If you want less noise then don't stay in a room facing 48th street-  it is very loud most of the night with sounds of construction and trucks.

The elevator is too slow, mostly during breakfast and afternoon.

Elevators are limited and very, very slow.

And let’s just add that for all of this fun, I got to pay half a grand a night and they only had one elevator working.

Dirty linens were piled in front of the elevator and it took several days before those disappeared.

We were given a room near the elevator, back facing and with men working just outside our window and hacking would start at 9 AM!!

even though I called the hotel directly well before arriving to request a higher room away from the elevator.

Other than the stay not posting to my Marriott Rewards account yet (a bad trend with Marriott recently) and the long-ish wait for an elevator in the mornings, nothing to complain about

The second was the elevator which always smelled bad for some reason.

The only negative I can think of was the wait for elevators sometimes was a little longer than we would have liked.

One star is missing due to:
Smudges and fingerprints in the stainless elevator cabin, no Ethernet jack in the room for laptop I-net connectivity, the bottled water is filtered water not spring, no hotel information brochure/folder in the room -

One employee took 5 of us around the corner to use the service elevator!

There are two elevators, so despite the size of the hotel, you don't end up waiting forever to ride to your room.

My only small issue was that the elevators were a little slow so we ended up walking a few times.

When we arrived at our room, we were slightly apprehensive since it was right outside of the elevators

The elevators were overworked at checkout time too,

The oatmeal with toppings was delicious and appreciated by the entire family.

Back home now reflecting on my great stay with my family.

Staff were very attentive especially Claudia and Carlos who warmly took care of my family during breakfast.

it has variation on the buffet and includes a lot of options for all the family.

They made sure everyone was greeted with a smile and they always made sure that our family's needs were attended to.

It was really nice to have the space to visit with my family within the suite

Our family of 4 had a corner 2-room suite on the 4th floor, which was the perfect size for us.

I highly recommend this place fir family or solo trip

I would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends.

My son liked making waffels for all the family.

The breakfast is beyond  expectations they  have  a variety of options available the whole family or business group to enjoy.

Family of four abd we stayed in rooms 710\910 with spereate bedroom and it was great.

Good experience—clean hotel and spacious room for a family of 4.

I will definitely come back and will strongly recommend it to my friends and family.

Claudia made our breakfast extra special by hooking me up with all of my gluten free breakfast treats and a to-go goodie bag.

the complementary breakfast made our stay perfect and Claudia and Carlos were always available for whatever we needed.

I was not expecting such world class service at a Residence Inn complimentary breakfast setting

There is also a great breakfest included with super service.

but included eggs, bacon, sausage, waffle maker, oatmeal and other cereals.

Complimentary Breakfast was great and the hosts, Claudia and Carlos, were exceptional.

Free breakfast with service by Carlos, Claudia and many others were fabulous- Carlos even retrieved the cell phone left by my wife.

Hot breakfast included - was great to have the option of a quick onsite meal and then head out on foot.

The breakfast was included and twice Claudia was able to help me throughout the stay!!!

Most exceptional were the wait staff at the free breakfast by the names of Carlos and Claudia.

We've been using Residence Inn hotels for years, and they have very convenient kitchenette and complimentary breakfasts.

Included breakfast is the best, Claudia and Carlos made us feel at home every morning, which was perfect to get each day going.

Room was clean and spacious and a special mention about the complimentary breakfast and Carlos for his super professional and friendly service!

Wanted to stay here based on size of rooms and free breakfast.

I saw several complaints about the wait on the elevators and in our 6 days there, we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for an elevator (and we were on the top floor).

but is chaos when busy
Impossible to use lifts.

Breakfast is absolute chaos and good luck catching an elevator/lift down if you decide to leave after 8am and before 9am (I waited over 20 minutes for a lift down on Monday…and just ended up walking down 23 flights of stairs to avoid being late to a meeting).

Nice room in a very busy hotel, you almost have to fight to get in the lifts during busy times .

The elevators are usually busiest around 8:45/9 am since it is the last time for the buffet.

although can be busy particularly on the weekends and cause some backup with the elevators.

Your choices are plan at least 30 minutes to get down to the lobby or up to your room via the only working elevator or take the stairs.

There was always someone at the front desk to greet us and someone trying to control the crowds at the elevators.

Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Times Square is located on busy Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) near Bryant Park.

The hotel is a 7/10 minute walk to central Times Square and diagonally across the street we discovered Bryant Park.

Great central location, walking distance to Times Square, Macy’s, Bryant Park to name a few.

It is walking distance to Bryant Park, Herald Square (Macy's & Empire State Building), also a few blocks to Times Square, and very close to a Whole Foods market.

The location is excellent, on 6th Ave two blocks south of Bryant Park and about 5 blocks south (and one street over) from Times Square.

The location is very central just a block from Bryant Park.

Perfect position, just steps away from Bryant Park, Times Square and the Empire are just a few blocks away, the subway station if right in front of the entrance!

(Remember to try and get their before 830am, as the 830-930 is the peak busy time)
-Perfect location, with Bryant Park one block north, Subway station across the street, and lots of food choices nearby
-Valet parking was not signed.

It is also a very easy walk to Bryant Park and Times Square.

but it's just a block shy of Bryant Park and you really can't complain much about it's location (6th and 39th), so it's pretty convenient walking distance to all mid-Manhattan sights, theaters, shopping, and restaurants.

All in all, this hotel is definitely a great quiet place to stay, right around Bryant park.

The location was great did just off Bryant Park and the price was perfect for what we were looking for.

The location was great, the hotel is a short walk away from Bryant Park, the theaters and Times Square, plus, Whole Foods is also a short walk away.

but upon close inspection reveals mass quantities of tasteless inmate eggs and soggy waffles.

It included items such as oatmeal, waffles, assorted bread to toast, sausage, eggs and many other items.

The breakfast is complete and delicious (eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, waffles, bagels, juices) We loved it !!!!!

Lots of food options, including scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, yogurt, and bagels.

There were scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles and grits plus breads, fruit, yogurt and cereal.

Eat as much as you like, from making your own waffles to a wedge or three of Camembert. Yum.

Large buffet menu includes pastries, breads, waffles, eggs, bacon and potatoes etc.

Breakfast was good, no complaints from us, waffles, bagels, bread, fruit, yogurts, scrambled egg etc we always found something to have and enjoyed it it also kept us going for most of the day.

They ran out of the batter while we were making the waffles, better get to it early!

Scrambled eggs which my wife said were excellent, bacon or sausage, make your own waffles, a good selection of cereals and yogurts and fruit.

Waffles, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, grits, pork sausage, turkey sausage, cereal, juices, breads, fruit, cheese and a lot more.

however with a large selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurts as well as waffles and pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausages there was always something different to try.

Breakfast was standard as per this chain, the waffle maker was very popular, as were the pancakes the one day they were available.

I had my normal waffles ( always a bonus ).

They also have a nice workout room & a pretty good breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, waffles, yogurt, etc.

The breakfast was brilliant as expected with a large choice including the waffle makers which always go down well with the children!

Scrambled eggs and DIY waffles were constant.

Breakfast was typical, eggs, sausage, fruit, waffles.

Don’t wait until the last minute to eat, though!

The wait for an elevator was about 25 minutes to leave.

People get lined up waiting forever for them.

When I arrived at check in after midnight, I had to wait until receptionist came (I was after 30h+ flights) and after 15minutes of waiting she basically said there's no room changing and they only have one room left.

but it's hassle I did not need 
There are not enough elevators for the hotel and the wait times are frustrating
Breakfast was good but far too crowded 
If you can get a deal it's worth staying but not worth the usual full price anymore

But first… had to wait 10 minutes for the elevator.

When reported, I had to wait until the next day.

If it is a busy time forget trying to get a table as you will have to wait if unless you are lucky.

Be prepared for very long wait for an inadequate number of elevators, sometimes we gave up and used stairs.

It is a MASSIVE hotel and only has like 4 elevators so at peak hours (breakfast primarily) you will wait a very long time for an empty elevator to come by.

I waited for the manager, Daisy, who offered to put me in a double room for one night and could change to a KING room the next night,

Expect long waits and crowded conditions.

but there is 4 of them so you do not really have to wait too long.

In a one night stay we had 3-4 times that we had to wait over 8 minutes to get an elevator.

We had zero issues with elevator wait times for the entire time we were there regardless of time of day.

As others have stated, sometimes the elevators take longer than normal and if in a high floor, you should bake in extra time.

Lifts not good enough for the amount of people wanting to use them.

( don’t use an elevator on check-out time).
