The first morning, we had to wait for the elevator, and it took so much time.

Not enough elevators to service the volume of customers, ended up having to take the stairs on check out, which wasn't the best with 10 nights worth of luggage.

The lifts are old, slow and don’t work too well.

To start off with, the rooms are far from sound proof, we were given a room lodged in-between two lifts and could here everything going on in the corridors.

Lifts a bit of an issue as only 2 were working and we needed to walk down 12 floors with our luggage .

Tiny, very slow elevators that take ages to get up or down - you could easily have a cheaper and 10x better hotel in New Jersey and be in Times Square in a very similar time as from this hotel.

Only downside was slow packed elevators during high traffic times.

Elevators can take a little longer to come

But from a ‘recently’ renovated hotel (actually, from the really dirty lobby, from the carton covered elevators and the dust everywhere, you should expect that renovations is still going on…but nobody’s working here…) you should expect more!!

The lifts are a awful so dirty inside, face mask in the same lift for 3 days so obviously not cleaned or checked on a daily basis.

Lifts can be horrendous at peak times, took me 30 mins to get from the 19th floor on the day of checking out.

Only hotel gripes were, elevators are a bit of a nightmare at peak times, and noise travelled quite well through the room door which was a little annoying late at night - maybe guests need to be more mindful of others.

The price doesn’t include breakfast, the elevator is old and the whole place smells really weird.

Third thing I noticed was the DIRTY FILTHY ELEVATOR OMG I WAS OFFICIALY SCARED TO GET TO MY ROOM!

but we were told by front desk that there's no camera in the elevator, so there's no way for them to check the guest's identity.

The elevator is very slow, the corridor is usually dirty.

As soon as we've got off from the elevator on 18th floor .. YIKES the smell was so bad!

Upsides are it has a great free breakfast , eggs, bacon, waffles , pancakes, fresh chopped fruit etc .

As other reviewers have pointed out, the included breakfast was a great start to the day and the evening guest reception a nice gesture.

Breakfast is complimentary and it has a wider variety of food compared to other places.

The hotel has free breakfast daily which included eggs, meats (bacon, ham, sausage that rotates daily), breads (french toast, pancakes that rotate), toaster items, whole fruit, cut fruit, cereal station, cottage cheese, coffee, hot chocolate.

There is a free get together buffet on Monday and Tuesday, which includes drinks and that was excellent and a very nice touch.

Service was good as well as the free breakfast buffet.

This Staybridge location was the perfect for our girl getaway to NY, great complimentary breakfast, close to subway entrance, short walk to Penn Station and minutes from Times Square!

The receptionist we interacted with was pleasant, friendly, and helpful.

Hotel is in a fantastic location to wherever you want to travel in NYC.

It's in a good location to visit all the sights of NY.

Hotel in general was pretty good, great location for walking distance to Time Square, Hudson Yards, Penn Station etc.

Although location was good and staff were polite, the hotel let me down with its cleanliness.

but it was conveniently located and good value.

About the location, there are a lot of stores and restaurants nearby.

Monday - Wednesday they have free beer wine and food 5-7
If the price was right we would stay again.

They also have a free happy hour every mon,tues and weds 5-7pm where you can help yourself to draft bud light and Stella and red wine and white wine plus a different hot food item each night .

A few nights a week they have a help yourself to free beer and wine and food.

Turn left you come to 8th Avenue, turn right across road  Dalton bar then further up Mercury Bar, good pubs to visit.

The food was hot, lots of it and very tasty.

The location is close to the subway and a variety of good restaurants on 9th Avenue and an easy walk to all the Broadway shows.

BUT we did find something good to eat every morning.

They took a 50 dollars deposit against incidentals which was much more reasonable than that asked for in Boston.We really appreciated the kitchen as we do struggle to eat in America.

Great touch is 5-7pm Monday’s, Tuesdays and Wednesdays Social with free Wine, Beer and Food.

Also on some nights in the week, there is a great free bar and food provided in the early evening (until 6pm, I think).

Nice hotel, room large, comfortable king size bed.

We got a room on a high floor with a stunning view of the city, all that in affordable price.

Room was spacious, bath comfortable, drinking water supply in the corridor, quiet at night.

It has everything you need from a hotel, in that the rooms are fine (if a little tired), with decent facilities and it’s clean,

It was ok for the price…there was a lot of refurbishment going on in reception and it was quite chaotic.

but the lady was very firm in not being able to help.

We stayed at the Staybridge Times Square it close to all of the Times Square subway stops and an reasonable walk to Penn Station.

Location for the hotel is great walking distance to Times Square less than 10 mins and subway station 2 min walk away.

Clean, helpful staff, walking distance from Times Square and then easy access to bus tours and shops etc.

Recommend Staybridge Suites if you want to be close to Times Square and all the Shows on Broadway

The location is very good being central and close to Times Square.

This is a hiding gem near time square area, close to the theater area , and some of the good restaurants !

This is a great location near Times Square and the theatre district.

I would recommend staying if you are wanting to be close to Times Square and broadway shows!

It's close to times square and the theatres so you are right in the heart of New York if we go back this will be high on my list to stay agsin.

And of course the location being close to Times Square was quite convenient if you are a tourist

We chose this hotel for it's proximity to Times Square.

The hotel serves as a perfect location for a New York City trip, close proximity to Times Square and many other attractions and shops/restaurants which suited us down to the ground.

Great location because it’s so close to Times Square, Central Park, the subway, and broadway.

You need to plan elevator trips as only two and not spacious so if there are four of you with cases you'll be waiting a bit.

The wait for a elevator was ridiculous taking at the minimum 10-20 minutes.

Often, the hotel lobby is crowded with people waiting for the elevator.

The Staybridge's pluses easily outweighed my little grumbles, which were waiting for the elevator and the room size.

But going up the wait for the elevator was no more than 5 minutes.

Guess what you need to wait an hour to get your luggage downstairs no joke.

Only thing that was a bit of a pain was waiting for the elevator! Lol.

The dreaded lifts weren't too much of a problem for us on the 29th floor - yes we had to wait a couple of minutes and yes they sometimes stopped at multiple floors on the way up or down

literally had to wait 10-15 minutes - 3 small lifts for 35 floors is far from sufficient.

BUT, while staying there, it looked like the place is just not being managed: when we asked for shampoo and fresh towels to the rooms it required 3 phone calls and an hour waiting before I gave up and went down to take it myself, the 2nd breakfast hall that was scheduled to open at 7 am was still closed at 7:15 on Saturday, in one of the days all the pancakes in breakfast were burned

When everyone is trying to go to breakfast or checkout at the same time you may wait over 20 minutes to find an elevator you fit in.

During peak hours (08.30-10:00) we had to wait till 45minutes to catch the elevators from our floor (12th).

Book a room closer to the ground floor to avoid elevator wait and you won’t experience the aggravation of waiting for an elevator.

32 floors (we were on 9) and we waited 20 minutes while 4 elevators were so packed we couldnt get in, so we ended up walking as did many people from other floors.

The rooms are outdated and you need to wait for around 20 minutes to take an elevator.

While the hotel was passable especially for NYC, our trip was almost ruined by the long lines waiting to use the elevator.

If you are on a high floor you should allow yourself enough time to leave the building because you may have to wait a few extra minutes for an elevator with enough room.

However, we did not want to walk down 29 flights of stairs so we waited.

but I have a gluten allergy and I asked one of the staff in the breakfast area if they had any gluten free bread in the back.

First time to NYC, front desk was exceptional as well as the breakfast staff.

Full breakfast every morning included and the breakfast staff especially Carlos and Claudia were exceptional and a credit to the hotel.

The breakfast attendants, Claudia and Carlos, were quick to pick up dishes and all aspects of the breakfast were clean and plentiful.

The breakfast staff Carlos and Claudia were outstanding!

The main reason why I am writing this review is to comment on the excellent service that was provided by the morning breakfast staff in Carlos and Claudia.

The staff have been very friendly and are always eager to help :) 

Special shout-out to Claudia and Carlos (staff that help out during breakfast) - they always greet us with a smile early in the morning and are super attentive with their service.

The breakfast staff led by Claudio and Carlos were fantastic.

The front desk folks are amazing and the breakfast staff was incredible, especially Claudia and Carlos.

The rooms were very clean and didn't feel cramped (as in many Manhattan hotels).

Conveniently situated, clean hotel with great access to local restaurants and entertainment.

The suites are clean and the breakfest helps get us going.

The staff were so welcoming and kind, the hotel was clean and well-maintained, and it was quiet!

The hotel does have some minor downfalls, including too few elevators and construction noise,

I would have given the hotel 4* if they had been upfront about the construction.

Honking, construction noises, the din of people, the light pollution and the stinky smell that permeates the city, all contribute to make this city, a city that doesn't care if you sleep.

We stayed on the 6th floor and could hear construction at night

Second, when we opened the window, pilled up dust outside the window sill blew right in, and it always smelled like concrete or any sort of construction debris.

Ask for room 1504 as it gave a great view towards it, looking up, of course (hotel is only 17 stories high) and, as of this time of writing, construction on the empty lot in between this Marriott and the Chrysler Building hasn't yet started,

My only complain was the construction next door.

The hotel did not alert us to the construction

There was construction outside of our window that made sleeping in difficult

Keep in mind there is LOUD CONSTRUCTION outside.

I would add that they are doing construction on a near-by hotel so the rooms are noisy during the day.

As the work week began, we discovered very early Tuesday morning that an extremely loud construction project is going on next door.

Although the room looked out over a construction site (an empty plot of land in 47th Street), the whole week we were staying there was no actual construction being done.

In the morning was woken up by construction site next door.

Only downside was construction of new building at rear of hotel.

If you want less noise then don't stay in a room facing 48th street-  it is very loud most of the night with sounds of construction and trucks.

The elevator is too slow, mostly during breakfast and afternoon.

Elevators are limited and very, very slow.

And let’s just add that for all of this fun, I got to pay half a grand a night and they only had one elevator working.

Dirty linens were piled in front of the elevator and it took several days before those disappeared.

We were given a room near the elevator, back facing and with men working just outside our window and hacking would start at 9 AM!!

even though I called the hotel directly well before arriving to request a higher room away from the elevator.

Other than the stay not posting to my Marriott Rewards account yet (a bad trend with Marriott recently) and the long-ish wait for an elevator in the mornings, nothing to complain about

The second was the elevator which always smelled bad for some reason.

The only negative I can think of was the wait for elevators sometimes was a little longer than we would have liked.

One star is missing due to:
Smudges and fingerprints in the stainless elevator cabin, no Ethernet jack in the room for laptop I-net connectivity, the bottled water is filtered water not spring, no hotel information brochure/folder in the room -

One employee took 5 of us around the corner to use the service elevator!

There are two elevators, so despite the size of the hotel, you don't end up waiting forever to ride to your room.

My only small issue was that the elevators were a little slow so we ended up walking a few times.

When we arrived at our room, we were slightly apprehensive since it was right outside of the elevators

The elevators were overworked at checkout time too,

The oatmeal with toppings was delicious and appreciated by the entire family.

Back home now reflecting on my great stay with my family.

Staff were very attentive especially Claudia and Carlos who warmly took care of my family during breakfast.
