even though the hotel is close to central park, the better parts of central park are close to Columbus circle.

The hotel is within walking distance to many things such as Central Park.

The area is very safe, walkable to Central Park and a lot of other things.

It's the perfect location on the UWS, right on Broadway, walkable to Central Park.

The hotel is close to the Central Park and has a small kitchenette, which is pretty good for a family stay,

The service is top-notch and you can't beat this gorgeous Upper West Side location so close to Central Park and Riverside Park.

For those who are coming from out of town- the location is fabulous- steps to an express subway (one stop to Times Square, about 20 minutes to Soho in the local) and walking distance to Central Park.

Upper west-side location is great - walking distance from Central Park, museums, Lincoln Centre, restaurants, transit plus Fairway and Zabars for food.

We had a great stay at Hotel Beacon - it's location was perfect to access the subway, supermarket across the road, nearby restaurants, walking distance to Central Park.

The location is superb, close to Central Park, Lincoln Center and even Broadway  Theaters.

Beacon Hotel offers not only a very good location, with Central Park at walking distance and plenty of restaurants around,

Walking distance to Central Park, museums, restaurants, and shopping.

Central Park is near, and the Met and the Lincoln Center.

Close to Central Park and the museums and walking distance to the subway.

There is an abundance of bars and restaurants in the area and Central Park is within walking distance.

Walking distance to Central Park and National History Museum.

I think the only thing it has going for it is that it has a laundry facility located onsite.

but worth it to get the great location and have the option of a suite.

This is a great centrally located hotel, with plenty of options to eat, drink and access the main city areas.

The hotel is in a great location on the upper west side, was a lot quieter for the kids

Parking was very conveniently located right across the street from the hotel.

but it is clean, spacious, quiet, and in an excellent location, with Fairway right across the street, terrific bakeries nearby, and a quick walk to Central Park.

This hotel is located on broadway at 74th st.

The staff were very helpful and the hotel is well located for transit @ 72nd Street and local synagogues (Lincoln Square is less than 10 minutes walk).

It's wonderful to be away from Time Square's buzz in this delightful location, just a minute walk from 72nd st subway !!!

We spent 2 nights at the Beacon, and, as former Upper West Siders, we love the location -- convenient to transit, Riverside Park, and Lincoln Center -- and feel we have found our NYC home away from home.

We love the nearby grocery stores (Fairway, Citarella, Zabar's) and being able to eat some of our meals in the room.

Having a kitchenette was such a bonus as there is a food market right across the road.

The grocery across the street is great and so many delis and restaurants in the Upper West Side area.

In the upper west side ( felt very safe ) with loads of cafes, restaurants etc on your doorstep.

The Beacon is just steps away from great shops, groceries, restaurants and cafes, and the subway.

The absence of a bar was an inconvenience, both before we headed out to dinner,

They even gave us a map and a list of local restaurants.

We ordered doordash several times and the food was delivered to our rooms which was nice.

Groceries, restaurants, Lincoln Center, Apple store, Central park.

The Upper East Side is a smart part of town and the coffee shops and restaurants provide quality food.

We had good, diner-style meals in the adjacent Viand restaurant.

The living room was plenty big for 10 or so people to sit around with a cocktail and chat.

Love the upper west side, feel very comfortable and good restaurants close by.

There are a nice breakfast/lunch café and big liquor store right next to the hotel and supermarket across the street.

Subway was a short walk, great supermarket across the road, short walk to central park and museums.

On the fifth floor facing road yet no noise at all.

Supermarket across the road is really handy as well.

The fairway shop over the road gave us plenty of choice to make drinks, breakfast and snacks in our room.

We bought most of our hot food in the evenings from Fairway market across the road from the hotel, which was tasty and good value.

It was very central with a subway a couple of minutes away and supermarkets across the road which have everything you need.

Staff so friendly and welcoming - location brilliant for seeing the sights and lots to do nearby - supermarket across the road and lots of restaurants.

The Viand cafe next door served excellent breakfasts and the fairway supermarket across the road was handy for anything we needed for the kitchenette.

Across the road there are 2 supermarkets, with one being similar standard to a M&S food hall.

The food market across the road was my go to place for meals to cook and eat in my room, found the bar a wee bit expensive.

The supermarket across the road is excellent and very handy to get supplies to have in your room.

Despite being on a busy road it is very quiet inside.

The supermarket and upmarket food shop across the road along with the proximity to the 72nd street subway stop (3 minute walk) make Hotel Beacon a top choice if you want that authentic neighbourhood experience.

Fairways store across the road is great as it has an amazing selection of food, including meals you can prepare in your room.

Great location, out of the way of the hustle and bustle with a very trendy scene, great local restaraunts/pizza, great comedy club and even a great supermarket over the road with everything you will need.

Next door to a theatre also a bonus as was the fresh food market across the road.

We selected a suite with a lounge and kitchenette, so that we could all relax comfortably and also save money on eating out every day - few hotels in Manhattan offer cooking facilities, and with the very well-stocked supermarket across the road, mealtimes were hassle-free.

We also usually need to do some laundry and the Beacon has a nice laundry room.

From the lovely welcome greeting after having arrived from New Zealand after a long trip to the room which had a lovely character feel to it.

And they upgraded one of my rooms to a complementary king suite without me asking!I will be back

Given how exhausted we were (travelling with young children) we agreed to see the room

Great value and for the with a family of 5 the space and layout of the room was brilliant for New York.

Clean older hotel, homey decor, We had BR plus sitting room / kitchen.

Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet except for a few times we could hear the venue next door in the evening.

Room was spotlessly clean and the service was impeccable.

The rooms were big, spotlessly clean and well thought out.

Both restaurant recommendations we received turned out to be excellent suggestions and we enjoyed both of them (Miriam for dinner, Sarabeth's for breakfast) The King Studio room was a generous size, with a view of Central Park (!

The room was more like an apartment and was very large and spotlessly clean.

I think this is a compromise to get the spacious rooms.

but it tastefully done with rooms of a decent size for NYC - and we actually got a good view from the 10th floor (always ask).

Longer stay - nice to have the room and out of the acton.

The hotel is very well maintained and our room was perfect.

Comfortable rooms with all that you need including kitchenette, laundry.

We appreciated the solidity of the older building; it made for a quieter room.

The rooms are spacious enough  and decently furnished.

The AC worked well and the room was really quiet.

The photos of the hotel which are on the site are all only of the rooms on the east side of the hotel so it is not accurate if you happen to be put in a room which does not overlook this area, the rooms are small and bathrooms tiny and we had a king room!

Bathroom quite small with a hairdryer that must have been installed in the 70's.

but doing so would have been miserable as the bathroom would be small even if it were on a cruise ship.

A couple of negatives are worth mentioning: despite the fact that we had a suite, the bathroom was tiny.

There was no exhaust in the room which meant the hallways were often smelling of eggs

Disgusting wrinkled carpets in the rooms.

but essentially the same location and now not only did the doors still slam the same as before, the new room reeked of smoke.

There was a bit of a smell in one of the rooms, like if someone had smoked there,

but our room fell a little short due to 2 things: soft beds and mold in the shower.

Only issue is the ventilation so open the window before you start or the smell sits there for a while.

but it was still a disgusting experience.

The only downside was that the eleventh floor hallway is dirty and smells like perfume and over-spiced savory food.

(And not just a wipe round with a damp cloth.)

Another negative was that every morning we experienced a strong smell of breakfast cooking.

This time we tried an Airbnb first down around 51st street, and found out that is actually illegal to airbnb in NYC, and the place was noisy and filthy, so we moved 'home' to the Beacon.

There was black mould along the edge of the bathtub - not sure if it was there when we arrived or if it grew during our stay because the room was always damp.

When we came out of the lift my first impression was of a very run down corridor, and when we arrived in our room there was the distinct smell of gas,

The first room I check into smelled like toilet, so the assistant manager moved me to another room, which was not made up when I opened the door, so finally I was upgraded to their suite!

but we all were surprised with how terrible the coffee was - perhaps it was stale but it was not drinkable.

While the rooms are a decent size, my room was filthy and the bed was small.

We did have some trouble to start with, our first room smelt badly of something burnt and we asked for another room as it was so bad.

Our room was not too clean, the tiles in the bathroom were dark with mould in places and the windows (on the inside) were so dirty that when the sun shone on them I could not see the view through them so I wrote 'dirty' on them.

Although staff were friendly the hotel itself has really fallen behind all others I have stayed at.

The front desk staff are polite and professional and the guys at the door are quick and helpful with luggage, getting taxis, etc.

Staff were very helpful and kept us from getting lost.

This hotel was perfect, clean, quiet, very spacious for NYC, staff was fun and kind, and the kitchenette was amazing to have.

Staff were great with any requests, check in pleasant and given local map, restaurant options etc.

All the staff we met were very friendly, helpful, courteous.

We found the front desk staff to be pleasant, knowledgeable about local restaurants and shops, and attentive.

The staff are very friendly and actually went above and beyond the call on our recent stay: I left a purchase behind by accident.

Check in was quick and efficient and we found all the staff to be extremely helpful and very pleasant.

The room cleaning lady was great and cleaned our room very well.

Other that that minor inconvenience our stay at Hotel Beacon was fabulous. The location in Upper West was convenient, from subways to cross city buses (M72 and M79!)

5) Location: Hotel Beacon is perfectly situated on the Upper West Side, a very safe neighborhood, 3 blocks from the subway, 3 blocks from Central Park, and close to many great restaurants, bars, bakeries, shops, and museums.

Just steps to everything on the upper west side.

If I need hotel Upper West Side in the future, I will stay here again and recommend.

Hotel Beacon is located in the heart of the upper west side, next-door to the renowned Beacon Theater.

Would gladly return to the Hotel Beacon and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for stay in the upper west side of Manhattan.

If you look for genuine experience of manhattan upper west life avoiding crowded tourists and siren, this is the place you have to stay.

A great place to stay on the Upper West Side - well placed for transportation, Central Park, surrounded by restaurant and shopping opportunities, close to Lincoln Centre.

The Upper West Side is more of a residential area which feels like the 'real' New York, lovely and quiet.

This hotel on the Upper West Side is, for the money, as good as you will do in NYC.

The Hotel Beacon is located in the atmospheric Upper West Side neighbourhood, just like what you see on Seinfeld.

The location on the Upper West Side - across from Fairway - make it a very family-friendly spot.

The wall paper seams are lifting, wood surfaces are scratched and dirty, and bathroom fixtures are old and in disrepair (the tub in our second suite had some sort of glued-on bath mat - I can only imagine what lurked beneath the mat).

First room we had was on the 7th floor with room that looked into a brick wall!

The noise from the adjacent mechanical room and/or elevator was unacceptably and they've place the headboard of the bed against the noisiest wall.

who quieted down after my wife banged on the wall, and the hot water in the bathroom taking an inordinate amount of time to come on.

The first thing I noticed was the poor condition of the hallways , As I entered the room I saw that the bed looked very messy and had a huge dent in the middle due to being worn out ,Wall paper was peaing off the walls .

I was woken early to the sound of drilling and the walls of my room were literally shaking.

The only negatives were the bathroom size and the walls are thin to the nextdoor rooms.

The rooms are larger than most, and ours had an actual view of something other than a brick wall!

But again, I found it terribly difficult to sleep with the thin walls (you can hear every word of the guest/residents/TV being spoken next door), and random thumping of something overhead throughout the night.

The green paint on the walls felt like it had been there for years and the bed linens certainly were old.

The walls are a little thin and noisy neighbors can be a problem,

My only complaint is that the walls are thin and you can easily hear voices through them.

The walls and wallpapers are all cracked, the carpets are old, the furniture is run down.

The bathroom is long past its due date for freshening up, e.g., the caulk holding he sink to the wall had deteriorated to the point that the sink moved.

The standing is very low compared to the pictures (no lobby, no terrace accessible for all, detached paints on the walls of the room, tape on the microwave, small bathroom without any storage capacity..).

Whilst the hotel was average, with decor and cleanliness in general, it had the best beds, shower and ultimately in an amazing location.

Everything is clean, the mattresses are in excellent condition, the staff is courteous and friendly.

The general cleanliness of the room was fine,

Beds were comfortable, room was clean and the view from the room was great.

Then paid the £150 refundable room deposit which we told would be refunded on checkout and takes about 7 days to show in bank , we have been home 2 weeks now and deposit still showing as pending so the funds not available to me.

but they have charged us £98 for something???

We were disappointed to be charged for luggage storage on the day of our checkout.
