I think the facilities fees are outrageous given the hotel only has two lifts for most of the time (lift 3 is for the party people going to the rooftop which was closed most evenings for hotel guests) the rooms have very poor sound insulation in the rooms.

There was never a line or a long wait for the elevators.

We were located a far distance from the elevator,

Night 1, our room was a bit close to the elevator, so it was a little noisy,

We went back down to reception (after waiting 10 mins on the phone to reception) and were moved to another room away from the elevator.

but it is given priority over hotels guests meaning there are only 2 lifts left for guests and constantly having long waits for slow lifts.

Note to the Refinery Hotel:   Get yourself another Elevator Guy for the Rooftop.

To my misfortune the air conditioning broke and one of the elevators was also broken which made it challenging to balance between patrons going to the rooftop and hotel guests going to and from their rooms.

Air conditioning problems, 1/3 of the elevators not working, upon arrival no soap in the room, no wash cloths, no shampoo or conditioner, the bedside light was not working right.

They have 3 elevators and only two are working.

but every time I had to take the elevator.

The young man walked us to the elevator and showed us how to work our Room keys to get to our floor .

You can hear people outside and the bangs of the lift each time it opens.

Waited several minutes or more on multiple occasions for an elevator.

The prize was one of the evenings, when we wanted to go on the roof-top, which is by an operated elevator.

In addition, the greeters at the front door and the individuals operating the elevators are extremely helpful and remember names and faces.

Only negatives are the rooms are noisy (traffic and also staff using the service elevator)
We also had a knock on the door around 8.30 two mornings in a row from what looked like a maintenance guy which woke us up.

The hotel had nice facilities and was conveniently located (near Bryant Park, the Empire State Building, Korea Town, etc.).

- Perfect location for midtown Manhattan, Times Sq, Broadway, shopping etc
- Room was on 6th floor which helped reduce street noise and had a view of the Empire State Building (requested)
- Hotel has a distinctly cool, dark, New York vibe.

The rooftop bar has great drinks and a view of the Empire State Building.

There is a fantastic little 24 hour market on the corner that has lots of snacks, quick sandwiches and salads, a pub down the street, Bryant Park, Times Square, Empire State Building, Public Library- all  a short walking distance.

The famed rooftop is a must for a cocktail under looking Empire State

Be sure to make a booking if you want to sit outside on terrace and admire beautiful views of the Empire State Building and surroundings.

There is a comfy lounge bar hosting live music at times, and even a live artist one evening, a full-service restaurant on the ground floor, and a rooftop restaurant and bar that has THE BEST view of the Empire State Building at night.

Room was clean and large with a view of Empire State Building.

Brunch on the rooftop yesterday, looking straight at the Empire State Building, was amazing.

Amazing staff- great location- 38th and 6th - you can walk everywhere- Very close to Bryant Park- walk to Time Suare,5th Avenue, Union Square, Hudson Yards etc etc.Nice rooftop bar /restaurant overlooking Empire State Building.

It's a quick jaunt to Times Square, the Empire State Bldg, Fifth Avenue Shops, Rockefeller Center, the MoMa, etc.

The room was great with a view of the Empire State Building!

the view of the Empire State Building and others lit up at night is worth the wait.

Walking distance to Time Square and the Empire State building.

Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful, clean hotel in a great location for walking (close to Empire State Building and Times Square).

The Refinery Hotel is located very central between Bryant park and Empire State Building and 5th Ave and  Broadway.

The glasses of wine were flowing and the hotel smells so nice with the candles scattered in the lobby.

The lounge and lobby were very spacious and accommodating and consistently made sure we had bottled water when we were coming and going from the hotel and we really appreciated our complimentary glasses of wine.

We were greeted very warmly on arrival (with a chilled glass of wine) and check-in was nice and quick.

I arrived Tuesday 15th March and on check in was offered a welcome glass of wine by Lucas and Wayne on reception.

Check in process was super easy and we were offered a complimentary glass of wine and water bottles for the whole group.

The front door staff greeted us at the end of our day with a complimentary glass of wine with a friendly smile and they all made great suggestions for food and directions.

We were greeted with glasses of wine and a gift bag and the staff was SO nice.

We were greeted at check in with a complimentary glass of wine, along with lots of local recommendations on dining and activities.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a warm smile from Stephanie and a complimentary glass of wine.

When we arrived, we were welcomed with an extremely welcoming smile, and a glass of wine.

The staff was super friendly, and even offered us a complimentary glass of wine upon check in.

My guy, N(R)ashid hooked me up with a bottle of wine and glass as soon as I checked.

She literally offered me free parking, upgraded my room and gave me a glass of wine!

Rodney at the front desk was amazing and accommodated my specific requests and even treated me to a glass of wine upon check in.

Being offered a glass of wine at check in was a nice surprise!

Upon our arrival, we were offered a complementary glass of wine.

The guest happy hour was a nice touch for a complimentary glass of wine before we headed out.

The Refinery offers all guests a free glass of wine in the evenings, and has excellent food in the restaurant.

Upon returning to our room there sat a bottle of Rose and wine glasses laid out for us. What?!

Jazz music rang out from the bar, and we forgot how tired we were.

For one night stay, i had to call security two times to make other room quiet after 11pm.

As a business traveller, you often have your first calls and meetings long before the hotel would offer coffee or breakfast.

She even made a few phone calls to local salons trying to find me a late appointment.

When I asked what it was for after receiving the bill, they said it was for wifi, any outgoing calls, and coffee/tea provided in the morning.

Gave 4 vs. 5 stars since my room at least did not have enough plugs for my various devices including my work laptop and my WiFi connection didn't work even with a mobile hotspot.

2 times The hotel did not answer our calls to reception.

A few minutes later I realised to my horror that I had left my phone in the cab that dropped my off. .

but because of demand they had had to shift hours..I would suggest calling prior to booking to get current operating hours and what facilities can be used if you have children.

Upon arrival, after calling on October 28th and confirming my room reservation with Olivia who assured me that I had paid for and would be given a room with a City View, I arrived to find that I had been "Upgraded".

Hotel will not even acknowledge apparent theft or answer my calls or emails.

I called down to the front desk because I couldn’t figure out how to turn on the lights and she already knew my name before I said anything on the phone.

We call to see what's going on and learn they booked a wedding and never told their hotel guests?

A lack of attention to details in a hotel that calls itself a luxury destination.

It's almost impossible to get the hotel on the phone, even at a decent hour.

The working of tv and temperature control through your phone was very confusing.

I booked directly with them over the phone, the easiest booking I've ever done!!!!

We had already booked into the rooftop bar the following afternoon and it was so lovely that we asked reception to book us in the following evening, which they did:

The Rooftop bar had a very good vibe that served delcious drinks.

The rooftop bar tater tots and cheeseburger were wonderful!

We used the rooftop bar on two occasions and on both, felt that we were not really welcome.

Maybe the rooftop bar need a littel upgrade

The roof top bar and restaurant and bar facilities were lovely and provided a nice distraction from city life.

The service, room, amenities, jazz band in the lobby, rooftop bar, everything is amazing!

The rooftop bar was lively and fun with great drinks, Parker & Quinn was an easy choice for breakfast- delicious!

Biggest drawback during my stay was the rooftop bar staff (managing it).

Hotel was very clean, helpful staff and that rooftop bar is something else.

The rooftop bar deserves a special mention!

Refinery rooftop bar is the best in the city by far.

there was a jazz band and nice crowd in the lobby bar.

On a final note, the lobby bar has great live music - fun tunes, just the right sound level so you can talk and enjoy the sounds.

They have live music in the lobby bar and on the top of hotel it has a rooftop view of the city with good food and good vibes.

Great rooftop bar and the lobby bar is good.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Refinery!❤️❤️❤️ Thank you, Gabriel and Raymond, and of course, Nancy, who took cared of our dinner one night because of live band issues at the lobby lounge!

The lobby is chic and smells incredible (they make their own candles) and the rooms are spacious and well decorated.

The front desk attendant was amazing and gave us a candle since we loved the lobby scent so much!

They have installed hand sanitizer machines on every floor and in the lobby and are taking all safety precautions to keep the guests as safe as possible.

Aziza was so kind and gracious and dare I say, bubbly. Like she seemed very genuinely happy to work here and I very casually mentioned it was my birthday celebration last week and as I was departing she bestowed upon me some beautiful gifts- a lovely candle with their signature scent that also burns in the lobby, a chilled bottle of water (the temps were soaring in NYC so this was a very lovely gesture!)

There are three eating/drinking areas on premises; A cozy bar off the lobby specializing in old-fashioned cocktails and live jazz music on weekends, a large, lively rooftop lounge offering drinks, boasting an impressive collection of bourbons and scotches with delightful small plates and meals, and lastly a wonderful ground floor restaurant, also 20’s themed and specializing in steaks.

The rooms are spacious, the bar welcoming be it the lobby or the rooftop.

The rooms are well appointed, the lobby was beautiful and always smells fresh, and the restaurant attached serves amazing food.

Towards the back of the Lobby is the restaurant, Parker and Quinn!

The signature scent in the lobby was the perfect compliment.

This also reduces UBER costs.If you stay at the hotel and make a reservation you get VIP treatment at the Rooftop bar and the bar off the lobby is friendly, quiet and relaxing.

but the lobby is chaotic, the service is inattentive, and the phones are unanswered.

The lobby has a tea/coffee station in the morning.

The lobby smells divine with their signature candle fragrance.

We really enjoyed the afternoon “cocktail” in one of the hotels lobby were you could grab any kind of wine or soft drink and enjoy a really nice cheese buffet.

There was a complimentary wine & cheese happy hour which was in their 2nd floor lounge- quite relaxing.

There is also complimentary wine and cheese from 6pm to 7pm that we used before going to see a musical.

Breakfast is full, Nutella bread eggs, cheese, fresh orange, apple, grapefruit juice and is so good I ate plenty of my favorite fruits like melon, berries, strawberries.

Xiena and Jennifer hosted a wonderful happy hour with a beautiful cheese and fruit plate and a variety of wine.

Wonderful breakfast offerings like fresh and whole fruit, fresh bread, meat tray, cheeses, crudite, spreads, jams and other goodies.

but the Happy Hour of wine and cheese from 5-6pm is so much fun.

The cheese and wine hour is really nice on their 2nd floor lounge from 5-6 pm.

Also, each day between 5 and 6 the lounge opens for complimentary cheese and wine which was a really nice touch.

The breakfast was good with fresh fruits,yoghurt, eggs, cheese , ham, salami ,different types of bread, bagels and cakes.

They have a happy hour every evening at 6:00, which was pleasant with free wine and some cheese and nuts.

The selection of cheese is okay and the bread is quite good –

There were several types of fruit, really nice yogurt, cold meats, assortment of cheeses, breads and pastries.

but enjoyed wine and cheese and wonderful atmosphere at the lounge.

Breakfast was nice choice of pastries, breads, cold meats, cheeses, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, etc.

We thought the wine and cheese was a good touch,

The cordiality of the staff made the complementary breakfasts and “cheese and wine” events some magic moments to live.

I notice this had been taken from my credit card almost immediately - had to check why?.

They need a maintenance system if they are going to use a battery key card system.

But I spent as much as a higher class hotel because I was charged for 2 nights instead of the one I needed.

Then you have to hustle to open the door with your room card .

I don't understand the concept of a mandatory resort fee, just charge the fee in the room charge as it is not optional.

They don't tell you that you will get charged at check-in for this,

Cons: Charged a $46 per day fee at check in (non refundable).

I booked through hotels.com which states you have a relationship with them where golf members get a $30 food credit and upgrades if available.

(in essence despite a pre-authorisation she charged the card again, and then an hour after I left realized that she had forgotten something on the bill, just took it off my card with no authorization.

I also cannot figure out what they charged a $40/a day amenity fee for since there weren't any.

but that’s not the first time I’ve been charged by 48Lex for a mini bar item I didn’t take.

I am charged 403 because of taxes and an amenities fee.

Back in Jan the money for the room came out of my acct and then 3 hours before checking in, they charged me for the room again.

The wine selection was poor, there's a charge for a beer or even a coke!

I tried to explain I thought this was arranged by the hotel and billed to my credit card.

I have no idea what I was charged for because my order was incorrect.

Really, charge US $60 more per night and don't make your rate look cheaper.

And no one on staff checked to see if anything needed replenishing. So my guest had to charge to the room a breakfast costing $40 at the downstairs restaurant (an ingenious tactic for the hotel!)

I've received a hefty charge on my credit card without authorization after checking out of this hotel.

They helped me prepared for my friends birthday, arrange for my friend to enter while I was out, and showed no frustration at all when my room cards had to be remade over and over bc of an elevator glitch.

There are 2 elevators and one is broken so it takes forever to get to your floor.

The rooms are all crowded around the elevator bank, So if you are a light sleeper plan to bring ear plugs.

but stained and housekeeping had to be called to change them, elevators totally out of service for about 7-8 hours on Saturday during the day.

Of course, I have to add that only one elevator was working the whole time and to get from one floor to another, the wait was very long - 15 minute waits and as seniors  we cannot climb 18 floors.

The front desk (more like a table in front of the elevators) was often unattended and no one was there to greet or help you.

The noise of the elevator is audible in the room. 5.

But out of 8 days there, 7 were with only one operating elevator.

If I have to pick one negative thing, it would be their elevators.

One of the two elevators was broken so for the first day of my stay we would wait 5-15 minutes for an elevator.

Regardless, housekeeping staff should never be chatting away loudly in the halls or in the elevator.

It didn't help that the second elevator was broken.

I knew the other few rooms on that floor (total of 4, I think) were occupied only because I would run into people at the elevator.

but the elevators were not working since then either.

The major drawback of the hotel is the reception area (  just a small front desk in front of the room's lift)  and the lack of common rooms.

These are both served in the 2nd floor lounge which is only reachable by keypass in the elevator.

Either prepare yourself to wait at least 10 minutes for every elevator ride ,or get your climbing shoes on and make your way up those flights of stairs!

Very noisy during night time, be careful not to be near the lift case.

Key for the elevator is a hassle at times and there was a strange smell at the entrance.

The happy hour 5-7 was perfect for grabbing a glass of wine before heading to dinner!

We loved the complimentary glass of wine too.

And they even have a cocktail hour from 5-6 everyday where you get a free glass of wine.

The lounge was perfect for a glass of wine while finishing up work, the Brass was great and low key for a night cap, the room was quaint and the bed very comfy.

He put us in a beautiful room and a complimentary glass of wine for me and my girlfriend.

Also a great opportunity to meet other guests over a glass of wine!

but also a very nice wine-rack on the wall with bottles of wines, wine glasses, a bar and sink.

The hotel offers complimentary breakfast, a free glass of wine which was a nice touch, and the room was lovely.

Amazing room/view, staff was always welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable- extra thanks to Melvin- we arrived later than expected and he was so gracious as to give my husband and I a glass of wine which was well past the 5-6pm  wine/appetizer hour.

We were able to use the gym which was great and they have a "Happy Hour" that we enjoyed very much, more so the ambiance looking over the city while sipping our glass of wine and enjoying cheese and crackers, all courtesy of the hotel which was a very nice perk.

Every day at 5pm there's a free glass of wine on offer with cheese and crackers.

we had a room with a nice terrace and it was great to sit outside with a glass of wine and watch the hustle and bustle of NYC.

clean, modern, sleek, well appointed great location, near subway, great am coffee machine glass of wine at 5 pm appreciated large bathroom and glass shower felt luxurious didn't hurt that were many young beautiful women staying there as well

The hotel also offer a complimentary glass of wine in the evening in the lounge, which unfortunately we did not manage to take up as we were always out during the time the hotel offered this,

We stopped by the Lounge for a complimentary glass of wine and cheese during "happy hour," before heading out for the night.

Being on the fourth floor we had a balcony from where we could watch NY flow by while sipping a glass of wine.

Nice wine by the glass selection, though.

On the 2nd floor, the Lexington lounge also offer complimentary cheese in the evening and you can one free glass of wine.

I loved relaxing there in the morning before getting the day started and stopping by for a glass of wine before dinner.

First, the good points: Great location, very eager-to-please and cheery staff (the glass of wine at check-in was a nice touch), relatively large, modern room with floor to ceiling windows, fantastic restaurant next door (Avra).

Hotel 48LEX is a great hotel in Midtown Manhattan.

This is a nice, clean and cozy boutique hotel that you rarely see in midtown Manhattan.

even though we were in Midtown Manhattan, the room was quiet and the environment was extremely peaceful.

This is a jewel in midtown Manhattan, location is great,  it's minutes away from all the interesting sites.

The location is superb---right across from the Waldorf Astoria, with easy access to everything in midtown Manhattan.

The Hyatt 48Lex offers a good standard of reasonably priced accommodation in a excellent, central location in midtown Manhattan convenient for many of the city's attractions.

Very chic, quiet, modern hotel with everything you need for business in Midtown Manhattan.

The manager of this hotel gets kudos for great staffing, a well kept property and small gem in midtown manhattan.

It is centrally located in midtown manhattan and its very quiet.

Location: The hotel is located on the NE corner of 48th Street and Lexington right in midtown Manhattan.

The hotel in centrally located in midtown Manhattan which was ideal.

I needed to be in midtown Manhattan for a few nights and stumbled upon this relatively new Hyatt.

Bottom line - It was a great hotel in Midtown Manhattan.

Would definitely recommend this superb hotel for your stay in midtown Manhattan!
