But the "piece de resistance" was the breakfast fiasco.

I loved the convenience of breakfast and coffee daily!

The breakfast room was very clean and lots of good breakfast selections.

This hotel was reasonably good value for New Orleans, particularly as there was breakfast included.

The breakfast was delicious and served by very friendly staff.

PROS: room size was huge by contemporary hotel standards; full-size fridge; excellent wifi; multiple tv sets; black out curtains; powerful a/c; breakfast buffet; grounds; staff; proximity to Convention Center; easily walkable to Canal Street and French Quarter

Breakfast staff were super nice and went out of their way to hold an Easter Egg Hunt for each and every family with kids that came by Sunday morning.

However, this is one of the few that I actually got eggs and enjoyed them!

Breakfast was ok, nothing terrible or great.

I chose this hotel for its rates, close proximity to my work site (7-10-minute walk), free breakfast, laundry facilities and kitchenet.

The included breakfast was the best we've experienced with an included hotel breakfast.

Im shocked that the hotel can continue to serve their breakfast with people coming.

Enjoyed our first breakfast at Sonesta NOLA.

Greta served breakfast with a big smile, Wendy & all the housekeeping staff did an excellent job, and the front desk staff- Sarah, Veronica, Angelina and everyone else whose names I don’t remember were always friendly & acted happy to see me.

Greta asked if they liked muffins, and of course they do, and made sure I had couple.

Breakfast was forgettable--worse than standard hotel free breakfast.

Carpet was pretty worn and could use replacing.

Extremely rude and unprofessional staff, dirty hotel dirty rooms old dirty carpet.

There are stains everywhere--on the carpet, on the towels, in the tub, you name it.

The room was sad and dingy, smelled like cigarettes despite a non- smoking policy and the carpet was worn and dirty.

The carpets themselves look 20 years old, all bunched and ripples and stained.

Couldn’t take the elevators either because they were blocked off due to where the carpet was being replaced.

But the bad, unfortunately, really outweighs any good here:
- The rooms are just really tired and run down: stained, cracked and damaged walls, dirty carpets, unkempt common areas - the list goes on.

Next you see OLD carpet, broken furniture, burned out sockets, and broken windows!!!!

While settling in, we noticed a unplesant smell and that the carpet in the room was very wet.

The place had black mold in the AC vents, carpets were old and stained and the furniture was chipped and old.

One, the carpet in the hall was extremely dirty.

but is definitely in need of a refurbishment—furniture and carpet was very worn throughout.

The hallway carpet colors were hideous- why would anyone pick that out?

Old, old furniture and carpet (everything in gold, avocado and rust).

Again, like the hallway, the carpets were stained, walls dinged up.

The carpet in our room was dirty - my husband was walking in the room in his bare feet and they got very dirty!

but the only complaint that I have is that some of the furniture was a bit worn and tired (ie frayed carpet, scratched nightstands etc).

Additionally there was dog hair everywhere and the carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a VERY long time.

When or if they redecorate the should remove the carpet since the building are so open.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite and that whole section of the hotel is outdated, nasty, musty and covered in carpet stains.

Needless to say, my experience at Hotel Sonesta ES was a symphony of disappointment, with a cacophony of cleanliness issues, parking fees, and a breakfast reminiscent of a deserted culinary landscape.

There is no onsite parking, and the valet is almost $40 a night.

I do have to say the only thing I did not like was that the valet parking lot can be accessed by ANYBODY as I was able to walk into the lot twice without question to get into my vehicle.

At this point I’m fuming(it’s the peak of summer and this part of the hotel is open concept so it’s basically outside and we are carrying all of our luggage for a 7 day cruise because we couldn’t trust to leave it in the AWFUL lot they called “secure parking”)!!

It’s a good value for the money except for parking, which is very expensive at $40/day.

The parking fee was kind of expensive considering how expensive it is to park at any parking lot in the area the fees really began to add up.

Parking, handled by an independent company was the only disappointment as they charged $8 more per day than the company next door charged.

The only negative I have about the hotel was no free parking.

Valet parking was about $38 per day - normal for NOLA.

Be aware if your renting a car, its $39 a day to valet and there are no other parking options.

Expensive parking: parking is not free and was more than 35$ a night (though this may be lower during other times of the year).

You must use valet parking or you are at your own peril somewhere in a neighboring street.

The view was of an alley and parking lot.

Oh and overall anybody could smoke marihuana in hotel premises it was just horrible

Our room as borderline scary with chipping paint, stained comforters, smelly rugs and just downright run down.

The bathroom had a musty smell and there was mold on the inside of the shower.

My only wish is that the entire grounds would be non smoking.

There was an open half eaten yogurt container on top of the fridge, a glass had lipstick stains on it (all of the glasses were dirty and had to be washed) and there was debris on the floor that makes me believe the room wasn’t vacuumed.

Paint fumes/dust/construction debris was all over the place.

I understand there was a horrible smell in their room upon walking in.

When it was finally ready (over two hours later) the room smelled like sulfur at the entrance.

but Toi went above and beyond when he heard that I’d been having an issue with the drain in my washroom.

Two, the windows in the room were filthy and so were the curtains, shower curtains, and vent in the kitchen.

Our 2 bedroom/2 bath suite had air conditioning problems, paint peeling, curtains were torn, a/c vents a returns were covered in black mold & dust.

It was the third room we were in because the first two were not cleaned: beds unmade, food in the refrigerator and scattered around and filthy.

The room was musty the first day and could use some updating,

The bed was awesome, the pillows -  awesome, the breakfast - awesome, the staff - awesome .

The food is tasty and breakfast and the kickback are included.

Breakfast and Nightly Snacks & Drinks are wonderful!

Free perks like breakfast and a light dinner and drinks from 5:30-7:00 were great to help out with expenses.

I finally used the pillows to pad the frame of the roll away and it was halfway decent.

Our boys loved the breakfast and the late night food menu available at the downstairs bar.

They had a grand time in the pool, with light dinner and breakfast and sleeping over.

As in all Drury hotels, this one also had a small breakfast buffet, not continental and also an afternoon buffet with adult beverages that they call Kickback.

The breakfast bar and kickback dinner at the Drury were amazing.

They have a hot breakfast in the mornings, as well as dinner/snacks from 5:30-7 each evening; they even provide drink coupons for 3 drinks each evening.

The hot breakfast is a nice start to the day.

We loved that they had complimentary breakfast every morning, as well as complimentary light dinner items and adult drinks every evening.

They offer free breakfast every morning (food delicious) & 5:30 Kickback, the pool was very clean, the hotel is safe.

Housekeeping does a terrific job, the breakfast and evening reception food is above average and plentiful.

The free breakfast and afternoon snacks were a wonderful treat.

Breakfast is complimentary starting at 6:00.

Security:  We liked that you have to use your key card to access the elevator, your floor and the hotel after hours.

but 3 alcoholic drinks a t no charge every evening.

even though the card reader said “approved” on my end.

In order to eat in the dining room, masks needed to be worn, and a card showing vaccinations or a negative test needed to be shown.

Lady in the lobby bar wanted to charge me with the tip without Asking. .

Parking is $25 plus tax, which compares well with other downtown hotels that charge $10-$15 more, and is under cover and secure.

Must have your room card everywhere you go.

Garage was lifted without asking for any I.D., room card or name.

There was an issue with the key card not working in one of the elevators

After checkin you get a card that shows 8 you free food and 3 alcoholic beverages a day.

So I will be seeking those charges to be dropped .

Second was when I got home I was charged for valet parking every night

I was charged for parking for when my car broke down and i called them and they apologized and quickly reversed the charges.

2 days for 500 dollars Charged me 30 each day to park each time I parked.

The breakfast would be better if they used real eggs, people are being charged $100+ for rooms per night cooking real eggs should not be a problem.

To add insult to injury, it appears my credit card was charged about a hundred dollars more than the amount on the receipt I received when I checked out.

( that was a Sunday) Monday went and still no funds-Tuesday came and still no funds.

No you don't charge me for anything that's already paid for.

Bourbon St. is nasty, smelly, and replete with shady folks wandering the streets.

The shower room needed serious cleaning, dirty and mold.

The lack of air flow in the room caused it to smell a bit like mildew.

We have allergies and the least bit or cleaner or other smells sets it off.

When we checked in we noticed there was a lot of dirt and nature debris in our room, between the two beds.

The woman I spoke with was extremely rude and apparently business musty be doing well since she didn't care about our business.

NOLA was the last stop on our Smoky Mountains/Nashville/Memphis road trip.

We arrived at the snack time at 5:30 and reached food at 6:45 only to find no hot dogs for the buns, no tortillas for the tacos, no ketchup, and only the "butts" of the lettuce pieces.

Hotel is in a great location nice decor in lobby and that's about it went home and notice a 250 dollar charge on my card apparently for smoking in room only problem is I Dont Smoke!

They have an outside patio and twice during our one night stay we found people smoking marijuana.

A bit cramped in the bathroom and unfortunately my floor had not been vacuumed either night and I found debris in my sheets which was "icky".

When exiting off the of the elevator we immediately smelled animal urine.

How screwed up is that given the filth I found in the room.

It kind of grossed me out to think every other naked person before had touched it during their shower.

Next time I will rather sleep in my car than a URINE filled bed.

We had breakfast one day on property and it was good.

Go up the block and you'll find plenty of good breakfast spots (Fleur de Lis, etc.).

Breakfast wasn’t available every day during the week

So we went to breakfast around the corner.

There's a beautiful courtyard and breakfast was very good.

Breakfast in the hotel with a weekend buffet.

There is a bar plus breakfast was delicious.

He went on to say that the Mazarin was a nicer hotel and was an “upgrade to the Marais.” We would be booked into the same level of room and would be provided with two breakfast coupons and two drink coupons for the 21st Amendment Bar for the inconvenience.

Breakfast served was just ok. located less than a  block from bourbon street.

Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious.

There is a restaurant that serves breakfast.

This hotel advertised free breakfast buffet (several workers gave us a different time when they opened-front desk said since COVID we no longer offer breakfast).

The courtyard was very nice and we had breakfast there twice which had been comped by management.

Breakfast was included & had a great variety.

Also the rooms with balconies are extremely loud and you are unable to sleep AT ALL!

Our bed was terrible – loud and uncomfortable.

I would suggest a room on the interior as the street noise is loud most he night.

The loud and annoying fire alarm kept going on and off for about an hour.

We could hear drag racing and loud music at all hours of the night.

Just off Bourbon St, a little loud at night.

The partying on Bourbon goes on easily until 4am, after that you’ll hear the street sweepers, delivery trucks, etc.

Room and hotel had many issues - broken thermostat pumping cold air even set at 85 F, no desk in room, coffe pods not compatible with coffee maker, room keys stopped working, etc.

But being one-half block from Bourbon Street means that you hear every band, drummer, and person yelling and talking on Bourbon Street.

The courtyard heavy metal chairs on being dragged around at night and early morning is incredibly loud.

Even being so close to Bourbon St, I really didn't hear any noise unless drunk people came in loud into the hotels courtyard.

It did not get rowdy until around midnight

Very loud music and drunk people's voices filled the inner yard and hallways.

After traveling all day, we were up all night due to the loud noises.

Unfortunately the AC never got cold even when set to 60 degrees, it always read 72 and above, and motor ran loud.

From the people on their balcony at another hotel blasting rap music to the partiers and those bucket beating kids to finally garbage trucks and street cleaners.

But you don't have to put up with wild noisy parties in your hotel.

Our room was very clean (although our room had a musty smell that I attribute to it's age and humidity).

Bathroom was dirty, there was water damage, a smelly couch, and a remote that did not work.

We did notice a musty smell when we turned it off, so just remember to leave it as set!

Then the mold smell when I opened the door to the room.

After some investigation found black mold growing on the bathroom door (pics below).

but the hotel room smelled so badly of mold.

Only downside was a slight damp smell in the room, ventilation may need to be cleaned.

The lobby is minimal and the moldy smell from the air conditioner inside the room is unbearable.

Our room smelled like mildew and it was much smaller than we expected (our bad now we know to check square footage).

There were towels left in both the shower and on the floor of the bathroom, urine stains around the toilet, the in-room safe was not functioning, and the door lock was broken.

However, the slight mildew odor was noticeable and unpleasant.

but still smelled mildewy (still no opening window or bathroom ventilation), and noise was worse.

The breakfast that was included with our stay was great, there was a good selection of food to choose from and plenty of it.

Breakfast was ample, the best music I've heard in ages, a piano, helpful housekeeping, refreshing pool, safe parking, mesmerizing atmosphere, easy to use cardkey, clean room with pullout sofa bed, and central air in room from this awful heat.

In the morning the breakfast bar staff was always cleaning the space and replenishing food, welcoming and helpful.

The breakfast was good, two waffle makers, so very little waiting.

Breakfast was incredible to get the day started.

The breakfasts were excellent - especially the biscuits and gravy!

Great hospitality from front desk, to house keeping and breakfast staff!

Otherwise the breakfast was good and the front desk staff was outstanding.

The breakfast had a lot of options and differed each day.

Comfortable beds, room was clean, friendly staff, decent breakfast.

Breakfast was more  than adequate with good choices.

On the other hand, our room was small and dark, and unfortunately had a window onto a narrow outside corridor rather than overlooking the lovely courtyard and pool area.

This is a run down, dark and dingy hotel. It is supposed to be a Best Western Plus hotel,

Our window view was of a dark corridor, which felt unsafe.

The hotel was very dark in the rooms, shower door kept coming off track and water pressure was horrible.

Cons: Rooms small and could be more clean (particularly with heating/cooling system), not so great lighting (especially with all dark furniture and carpeting), toilet did not have strong flush from start and eventually became clogged (although maintenance immediately fixed it as soon as I told front desk).

As others have mentioned the room is very dark and dull and had a smell to it (not massively offensive
