We arrived on a Sunday, during a very busy evening (basketball tournament starting a couple of blocks away at the convention center).

It features a large pool and a tennis/basketball court that is great for relaxing.

Hotel grounds: The hotel has a nice size pool, basketball court, and courtyard area with tables and chairs.

The Residence Inn has a very nice central courtyard with seating, recreation (basketball, mini-tennis) and pool, and nightly get-togethers (free beer and wine and food) for guests.

They have washers/dryers, 24 hour access gym, a courtyard with basketball, volleyball, & tennis (all of which they provide balls/equipment for).

It is perfect for families as it has a backyard with a tennis and basketball court, outdoor swimming pool, plenty of seating, and nice background music.

It’s family friendly with a nice basketball court, and pool.

The wing in which we stayed is detached from the lobby, so you had to walk through an open air courtyard with the pool and tennis/basketball court.

There was a grill in the courtyard as well as a basketball court and a tennis court.

The staff was very busy - there was a girls basketball tournament in town and they were swamped at check-in.

But the "piece de resistance" was the breakfast fiasco.

This hotel was reasonably good value for New Orleans, particularly as there was breakfast included.

Breakfast staff were super nice and went out of their way to hold an Easter Egg Hunt for each and every family with kids that came by Sunday morning.

However, this is one of the few that I actually got eggs and enjoyed them!

Breakfast was ok, nothing terrible or great.

I chose this hotel for its rates, close proximity to my work site (7-10-minute walk), free breakfast, laundry facilities and kitchenet.

The included breakfast was the best we've experienced with an included hotel breakfast.

Greta served breakfast with a big smile, Wendy & all the housekeeping staff did an excellent job, and the front desk staff- Sarah, Veronica, Angelina and everyone else whose names I don’t remember were always friendly & acted happy to see me.

Breakfast was forgettable--worse than standard hotel free breakfast.

Duane at breakfast was kind, nice and always had a smile on his face.

The front desk staff, the cleaning staff and the breakfast workers were all friendly and helpful.

Additional plus is the contextual breakfast and the great workers there.

Carpet was pretty worn and could use replacing.

There are stains everywhere--on the carpet, on the towels, in the tub, you name it.

The room was sad and dingy, smelled like cigarettes despite a non- smoking policy and the carpet was worn and dirty.

The carpets themselves look 20 years old, all bunched and ripples and stained.

Couldn’t take the elevators either because they were blocked off due to where the carpet was being replaced.

But the bad, unfortunately, really outweighs any good here:
- The rooms are just really tired and run down: stained, cracked and damaged walls, dirty carpets, unkempt common areas - the list goes on.

Next you see OLD carpet, broken furniture, burned out sockets, and broken windows!!!!

While settling in, we noticed a unplesant smell and that the carpet in the room was very wet.

The place had black mold in the AC vents, carpets were old and stained and the furniture was chipped and old.

One, the carpet in the hall was extremely dirty.

but is definitely in need of a refurbishment—furniture and carpet was very worn throughout.

The hallway carpet colors were hideous- why would anyone pick that out?

Again, like the hallway, the carpets were stained, walls dinged up.

The carpet in our room was dirty - my husband was walking in the room in his bare feet and they got very dirty!

but the only complaint that I have is that some of the furniture was a bit worn and tired (ie frayed carpet, scratched nightstands etc).

Additionally there was dog hair everywhere and the carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a VERY long time.

When or if they redecorate the should remove the carpet since the building are so open.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite and that whole section of the hotel is outdated, nasty, musty and covered in carpet stains.

I really like the warehouse/ arts district better anyway.

It's in the middle of the warehouse district, which is walking distance to the Convention Center, uptown, and downtown.

Wonderful location in the Warehouse District, with easy access to everywhere you want to go in NOLA.

Additionally, this hotel location is in the superb NOLA location, right in the warehouse district.

I went to New Orleans for the first and was blessed to stay in the Warehouse District, close to World War II museum.

but in what appears to be a growing arts district surrounded by really good bars and restaurants.

The warehouse district feels safe and has numerous restaurants in walking distance.

The Warehouse District is a perfect respite from the hustle of the typical hotspots.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn in the warehouse district.

The surrounding Warehouse district has some nearby excellent food options like Peche/Cochon/emerils

We stayed three nights and the accommodations, amenities, and location were excellent for our group.

The Residence inn Downtown is in a great location.

Great location for walkers to get anywhere they wanted in downtown NOLA or the French Quarter.

Needless to say, my experience at Hotel Sonesta ES was a symphony of disappointment, with a cacophony of cleanliness issues, parking fees, and a breakfast reminiscent of a deserted culinary landscape.

Valet parking like four seasons, very expensive.

There is no onsite parking, and the valet is almost $40 a night.

I do have to say the only thing I did not like was that the valet parking lot can be accessed by ANYBODY as I was able to walk into the lot twice without question to get into my vehicle.

At this point I’m fuming(it’s the peak of summer and this part of the hotel is open concept so it’s basically outside and we are carrying all of our luggage for a 7 day cruise because we couldn’t trust to leave it in the AWFUL lot they called “secure parking”)!!

It’s a good value for the money except for parking, which is very expensive at $40/day.

The parking fee was kind of expensive considering how expensive it is to park at any parking lot in the area the fees really began to add up.

Parking, handled by an independent company was the only disappointment as they charged $8 more per day than the company next door charged.

The only negative I have about the hotel was no free parking.

Be aware if your renting a car, its $39 a day to valet and there are no other parking options.

Valet parking was about $38 per day - normal for NOLA.

Expensive parking: parking is not free and was more than 35$ a night (though this may be lower during other times of the year).

You must use valet parking or you are at your own peril somewhere in a neighboring street.

The view was of an alley and parking lot.

Our primary goal was visiting the National WWII Museum and take in the local restaurants.

It was walking distance from great restaurants and the Convention center where I attended the Louisiana Teacher Leader Conference.

The area is post industrial, on the up, with some really good bars and restaurants.

Walking distance to most Warehouse district sites including WWII Museum and some great restaurants, including Cochon and Emeril's.

Also, as my husband and I were eating, the manager had such an attitude greeting all the guest.

He offered us restaurant suggestions that turned out to be amazing.

Walking distance to loads of great restaurants & about a 10 minute walk to the French Quarter.

It is near the World War Two Museum and has several excellent restaurants nearby.

but all this good new orleans food we never used it.

Near quiet restaurants  and galleries in renovated warehouse area.

Nightlife at your doorstep, and restaurants at your front door.

The kitchen was clean and food fresh every day.

He is also the cook here and his food was great!

The food was delicious and the staff was very hospitable, especially Duane.

Oh and overall anybody could smoke marihuana in hotel premises it was just horrible

Our room as borderline scary with chipping paint, stained comforters, smelly rugs and just downright run down.

The bathroom had a musty smell and there was mold on the inside of the shower.

My only wish is that the entire grounds would be non smoking.

There was an open half eaten yogurt container on top of the fridge, a glass had lipstick stains on it (all of the glasses were dirty and had to be washed) and there was debris on the floor that makes me believe the room wasn’t vacuumed.

Paint fumes/dust/construction debris was all over the place.

I understand there was a horrible smell in their room upon walking in.

When it was finally ready (over two hours later) the room smelled like sulfur at the entrance.

but Toi went above and beyond when he heard that I’d been having an issue with the drain in my washroom.

Two, the windows in the room were filthy and so were the curtains, shower curtains, and vent in the kitchen.

Our 2 bedroom/2 bath suite had air conditioning problems, paint peeling, curtains were torn, a/c vents a returns were covered in black mold & dust.

It was the third room we were in because the first two were not cleaned: beds unmade, food in the refrigerator and scattered around and filthy.

The room was musty the first day and could use some updating,

but helpful to have with hungry children!

The moment I stepped into the hotel, the dirt on the floor welcomed me like a long-lost friend.

Although this is an older hotel it is well kept by the staff.

The warehouse District is kind of cool and quieter than French Quarter

Taylor the GM greeted us one morning and he is such a nice guy.

It is a big hotel, and this was obviously an u truth told by someone who didn’t care (management, I can give you more details)
The next day, I spoke to the very helpful manager, who moved me to a light, bright modern room, in the right side of the hotel.

but we knew this in advance, and service was quick and efficient.

Detergent and fabric softener sheets are available for purchase by the front desk.

The staff overall was personable, professional and helpful.

The bed was awesome, the pillows -  awesome, the breakfast - awesome, the staff - awesome .

The food is tasty and breakfast and the kickback are included.

Breakfast and Nightly Snacks & Drinks are wonderful!

Free perks like breakfast and a light dinner and drinks from 5:30-7:00 were great to help out with expenses.

I finally used the pillows to pad the frame of the roll away and it was halfway decent.

Our boys loved the breakfast and the late night food menu available at the downstairs bar.

Breakfast is much better than average.

They had a grand time in the pool, with light dinner and breakfast and sleeping over.

As in all Drury hotels, this one also had a small breakfast buffet, not continental and also an afternoon buffet with adult beverages that they call Kickback.

The breakfast bar and kickback dinner at the Drury were amazing.

They have a hot breakfast in the mornings, as well as dinner/snacks from 5:30-7 each evening; they even provide drink coupons for 3 drinks each evening.

The hot breakfast is a nice start to the day.
