The hotel itself is in a great location right on the beach with amazing views from our room and the restaurant terrace.

Recently returned from a weeks stay at the Monica.

Overall an excellent holiday and would definitely recommend hotel Monica.

This was our 4th stay at the Monica and everything was perfect.

The hotel is in a brilliant location, next to the beach, and a 10 minute walk into the centre of Nerja.

The al a carte restaurant being included was excellent, position of hotel on beach and close to town was very good.

Wonderful holiday at the Rui Monica for the 8th time which speaks for itself.

Burriana beach a good 35 mins walk from Hotel and it is hilly.

Could not fault the whole experience, really enjoyed the stay at Hotel Rui Monica will visit again.

This is our 3rd trip to the Rui Monica and still as good as our first visit.

Fabulous week at the Monica, our third visit, a fantastic hotel in a great location.

Walking into Nerja was really easy and the new footbath to Burriana beach was so quick.

The amenities were top class & you could access the beach from the hotel terrace.

Super service - open until 8 in the evening - i would recommend lunches here and for a snack after a day on the beach nearby

The location was superb, right next to the beach and our room with a sea view was very comfortable.

Buffet meals were very good with excellent choice.

The choice of food at breakfast and evening meal was excellent and we enjoyed the pool side restaurant on 2 nights at no extra cost.

We had a buffet breakfast & dinner each day with views over the sea.

The waiting staff were so good and as we sat more or less at the same place for breakfast and dinner, we were principally looked after by Lola and Anabel.

Everyone from the reception staff,dining room staff,chamber staff and even ground staff etc should be congratulated because at the end of the day it is a team effort.The food is of a high quality and there’s always enough choice at breakfast and dinner.

although it was a buffet menu there was always plenty to eat and on a lot of nights the food was cooked right before your eyes so it was always fresh.

The food at the Riu is extremely good with a wide choice at both breakfast and dinner.

The hotel arranged chilled cava and a lovely gift /souvenir left in our room on the day.A very unexpected and thoughtful touch.The hotel rooms, pool and grounds are immaculately cleaned and maintained.The buffet dining arrangements are very well managed with a very extensive choice of local and European favourites.

Always a friendly helpful welcome at meal times with a great selection for both breakfast and dinner buffets.

All the staff were so helpful wherever you were in the hotel is pristine and the food was lovely at breakfast and dinner.

Food was lovely and the Al La Carte experience was the highlight of my stay, eating delicious food overlooking the sea complimented by wonderful friendly staff.

It is a beautiful hotel with great food and clean rooms, most of all the staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble for them, and they are so friendly and welcoming they make your holiday even more enjoyable.

The hotel was spotless the best hotel for cleanness that we have been in over the years ,all the sunbeds were moved and the complete area was scrubbed  over with a machine ready for the next day.

The pool area is kept pristine all the time and there isn’t a mad dash for sunbeds if you aren’t bothered about where you want to sit,but if you are then you can put your towels on your bed from 8am.The evening entertainment was ok

Had a wheelchair and despite different level the hotel was very suitable, with smooth floors and pool area.

All facilites gleaming and it is obvious that great pride is taken in maintenance of pool areas , public areas, reception lobby and grounds keeping.

Great pool area too and only a short walk from the lovely town area itself.

Pool area is superb, nobody allowed to put towels down before 8am and there was plenty of sunbeds.

Getting to the pool area involves quite a few steps

Extremely spacious and lots of seating options- foyer, large bar, outside bar, atrium, large outside entertainment space, hotel restaurant inside and outside terrace, plenty sunbeds around pool area.

There are ample sunbeds at the pool area and the beach is directly opposite the hotel.

but you have to pay to use it( pet hate as this is just making money)  the pool area is very nice and clean Leads through a gate on to the beach location is great.

The pool area is very nice and beautifully  calm, no intrusive music or "activities," which I particularly  like.

The pool area had plenty of sunbeds, and there were also 2 other sun terraces with sunbeds.

Beauiofully clean pool area with ramp leading to the promenade and the  beach is just 20 metres away.

Loads of sun loungers around pool area  (still get the usual towels in beds malarkey which was funny to watch) or beds available on beach for a small fee.

Had a wonderful time, friendly staff and very clean hotel, good size room, food 4/5 depends on personal taste, lovely pool area on the sea front.

Fourth visit to this lovely Hotel,excellent standard of accommodation.Good variety of food in the restaurant,always hot and quickly replenished .Used the A La Carte restaurant which was also excellent.Evening entertainment was very good,Bar staff always friendly and quick to serve.Outside seating area lovely with well kept gardens,good snackbar for drinks and snacks.We have no negative comments and will return next year.

Lovely hotel,with good food and entertainment.Good sea view rooms,shower was very good.Excellent value for money for the package and drink prices were very good.

And all of the restaurant staff were brilliant too,  very friendly and kindly helping us to practise our Spanish!

The food was always well presented, the accommodation was "almost" without fault and the entertainment mostly worth the hassle of bagging an early table.

Lovely couple of bars across the road and a short walk to the Balcon of Europe for lots of shops bars and restaurants.

The location is ideal as well, some nice bars and restaurants are across the road and within five minutes walk there are plenty more, we were only a ten minute walk from the center on Nerja as well.

Nerja itself is a lovely place, plenty of bar & restaurant options, from Tapas to Nepalese.

The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are spacious and well equipped with a mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities.

Our room attendant Carmen gave us a very warm reception on arrival remembering us from our last trip.

Great hotel right on the promenade and 10 mins to centre of Nerja room on third floor with views of the sea which was great to hear the waves at night.

We stayed on the 4th floor and the rooms with a partial sea view are excellent with a great outlook over the town and the sea.

I emailed the hotel in advance as we wanted a high floor for our sea view room, and they responded quickly and accommodated our request.

We had our keys for the room within 10 minutes ,

Our view from the balcony from our room was stunning.

The room was larger than some as it was in a corner.

The wonderful Carmen Martinez who cleaned our room was fantastic.

Sea-view room was excellent as was the evening entertainment in the bar.

The hotel has a lovley warmth about all aspects of it from the reception staff, to the rooms and great maid service, the food and staff (and my wife needs a gluten free diet, and there is no trouble at all, and is looked after wonderfully), the bar and staff.

Our room was really nice on the top floor and had really nice views.

They are consistent - well managed, welcoming, comfortable, accommodating and always of a high quality.

Yeah booked this hotel last minute and we were not disappointed- from check in to check out hotel staff and amenities where 100% - we will definitely return and we can highly recommend this hotel to everyone

A fabulous winter break at this beautiful hotel everything about it was excellent from the staff to the accommodations and the entertainment I would highly recommend anyone wishing to take a break in this hotel.

The staff go out of their way to make you welcome from the moment you arrive to when you leave.

The Reception is quick, easy and well organised.

The staff all work very hard and are professional and friendly.

This is the 4th time we have visited here,and nothing has changed in the years,all the staff are friendly,brilliant,nice people.

The staff were very accommodating of my vegan diet.

although there are some people who seem to rush down in the morning to leave towels and then disappear!

Enjoyed everything about this hotel (except the towels which are small and hard!).

but please upgrade the towels, thin, ragged and sad and when I caught a bit of sunburn it was most unpleasant using them.

Sadly the habit of people putting towels down early morning is a pain,

but of course the towels go out early though the sitters are not as early!

My only criticism would be the room towel are a bit smalland thin.

The booklet even states that staff will actively remove said towels if this practice is seen to be happening.

The only complaint I have is that towels put onto sunbeds and no one coming back to them until well into the afternoon  there was a lifeguard on duty and no towels were taken off sunbeds like the notice said it would be.

however be quite busy around the pool with people putting towels down quite early , we still still found sun beds that were suitable for us.

We did chuckle some days watching guests from our balcony rushing to put towels out, in the same spot, day after day as

The only criticism was of other guests who reserved sun beds with towels not returning for long periods of time, not easy for the hotel to police!

The only down size to the room was the towels in the bathroom,they were thread bear and small.

The only thing I didn’t like and it’s petty, the bathroom towels were a waste of space, they were small and useless, plus it could of done with some music round the pool, and that is it.

Towels are a bit threadbare and could do with replacing.

towels are rather small and far from soft and fluffy no  face cloths, slippers or bath robes.

but towels in room are very rough and should be updated.

People did go and put their towels down early and leave them for hours unattended!

If your not so active or able you can easily stop on the way for refreshments 😊 would I stay here again yep, are most or the reviews on here stupid, so what if the towels are brown or thin, thin means they dry quicker! !

We were all inclusive and the buffet is great.

I went with my wife for a 5 night stay and we went on an all inclusive basis.

Its spotlessly clean, the food is good for an all inclusive hotel.

A lovely hotel, travelled with friends had a fab week all inclusive.

Opted for the all inclusive package and what we paid ,I thought was good value for money.

but it was still one of the best buffets I have seen in a while). I was very happy that we chose half board as all inclusive would have been way too much for us as we rarely ate lunch (coz the breakfast was so big and good!)

My husband & I got FOOD POISONING from their all inclusive buffet restaurant & the hotel refused to take any kind of responsibility.

However, this being my first experience with all inclusive with the kids, I will look for a different experience next year

The check in was convenient and we accepted the all inclusive offer which turned out to be quite good value for money.

We stayed on an all inclusive basis and were very impressed with the offering.

The all inclusive was well worth paying for with premium brands of alcohol and lovely foods to try out.

As a family of 4 we had an enjoyable weeks holiday staying all inclusive at the Iberostar Malaga Playa.

We were all inclusive and I must say the drinks on offer were good, there were the choice of 4 white, 4 rose and  3 red wines.

We were all inclusive, which we thought was good value.

We had booked the all inclusive and were happy with the variety of wines/cava and beers available as well.

The all inclusive price is fabulous value for money and the food is delicious.

The all inclusive drinks were all quality branded ie San Miguel beer, Gordon's, beefeater and Bombay Gin.

I took my two boys away for 5 nights aged 14 & 17 the hotel is clean the rooms are spotless.

I was struck by the immaculate cleanliness of every area of this huge hotel and the friendliness and cheeriness of every member of staff.

There are guests from all over Europe, the hotel is impressive and spotlessly clean.

It's very clean and the daily room cleaning service was excellent.

All credit to them for keeping the hotel spotlessly clean as well.

The pool & sunbathing surrounds are tidy.

The hotel is absolutely stunning and clean, and as lots of the reviews say, the staff do work very very hard at this.

The whole experience was first rate.

All areas around the pool / snack bar / pool bar restaurant were all kept spotless by the hard working staff who were all so friendly couldn’t do enough for you always with a smile.

Food was excellent - buffet was kept spotless and the choice and quality was superb.

We stayed in a Junior Suite - the air conditioning was brilliant, the cleanliness was great and when the airer on the balcony broke, it was replaced within a couple of hours.

This was a big issue for us as all our children wanted to do was go in the pool for the week.

We particularly liked the pool as from one side you could walk into it and it was quite shallow, so this is where most of the children were,

There is a very big pool plus a good children’s pool with slides etc and a little playground for toddlers.

A kids club available to keep them entertained.

Great pools and kids splash zone, comfortable rooms (we were upgraded to a small suite on arrival which was a lovely touch as a family of 3).

The entertainment staff worked tirelessly offering everything from yoga, pool volleyball and salsa dancing to a kids mini disco and casino.

This was our first holiday as a family of 3, our daughter was 5.5months at the time

We had a lovely room out to sea next to the car park which has a market on once a week which was good fun
Supermarket is just down the road for fridge fillers and bits and bobs you may have forgotten

The atmosphere around the pool for children and adults was really good the star team all worked so hard to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves they area credit to the hotel.

The pools were great and the little splash park for kids was my daughter’s fav bit for sure!

My sister and I, and our two little girls, had such a wonderful time.

Our daughter went everyday and was always happy to see the staff.

Even the children learnt to dance and showed everyone what they learnt with the Zumba Queen Instructor who organised many events craft making bingo etc.

Entertainment was like Butlins and nowhere decent to sit for a drink if you didn’t want to sit in the entertainment area for karaoke or kids entertainment.

The children had fun in the splash park area on the slides.

We (2 kids, 5 and 7 yo and myself)  have been staying here from 18th July - 25th July.

The entertainment was great and there were lots of daily activities for children and adults.

There are kids shows in the evening, or singers in the lounge/bar.

The shows in the evening were extremely entertaining and the children's clubs were so popular with my Max and Poppy.
