When I went back to my room a portable heater had been slipped into my room.

The as an urban dweller, I was worried about the lack of AC

but I was a bit disappointed by the slightly mouldy smell in the room, no air-condition, no wifi, and very hard mattress.

My wife is cold blooded and they provided a heater and additional covers for her.

There is no a/c and which could be a problem in very hot weather.

One caveat: there are mosquitoes, and there is no air-conditioning nor screens on the windows, so if you open the windows you need to sleep under the netting and might still get bitten.

My only hesitation would be staying here in the heat of summer without any a/c or screens on the windows -- we tried opening a window one night and immediately had mosquitoes.

The weather was a bit chilly for February, so heaters had been supplied and we were always snug.

Anna drove over twice to the apartment to bring heaters, an exhaust fan, and a huge amount of towels.

Four of us stayed w/Anna and John in early June, and while I am not a fan of B & B's, they may have made a believer out of me.

Breakfast was very nice with lovely touches.

A lovely setting high above Nazare with beautiful grounds, roaming peacocks, guinea hens and chickens that provide fresh eggs for breakfast.

Breakfast is huge, with fresh local produce and homemade cakes to die for!!

I could talk about the wonderful breakfasts with fresh eggs and produce or the beautiful home and grounds,

The breakfast was fabulous especially the lovers’ pudding and farm fresh eggs.

Whether it's the superb seaview from the room, or the lovely peacocks on the grounds, or the lovely breakfast (and how can I forget, the delicious 'pudim com amor', which we got an extra piece for the road), they all helped to make this a memorable stay.

The breakfasts served were very good, especially the juice, and even had fresh eggs one morning form the chickens raised on the property.

It's located on beautiful grounds, clean and comfortable rooms, and a very nice breakfast served with care.

Amazing hosts, great room with ocean view, super breakfast, nice bed, quiet farm house.

The breakfast each morning was different and spectacular.

We were served a fabulous breakfast each morning consisting of fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, cereal, cake, eggs, yogurt you name it and of course the most delicious Portuguese bread brought in fresh from the bakery daily.

Eggs are served fresh from her chickens, accompanied by other traditional breakfast dishes from her family recipes.

Each morning Anna and here daughter, Anna, prepared a breakfast obviously made with love.

The breakfast was wonderfully delicious and their recommendation for dinner was perfect!

When I asked for herbal tea she reached out the window and clipped some Verbena for me from her garden.

The bathroom was larger than a typical Potuguese bathroom and had a shower, sink, toilet and a small window looking onto the coast.

Squeaky clean, probably recently renovated property, and very nice, friendly ladies at the front desk, good, breakfast.

The room had a sea view and was big enough for the two of us with all conveniences including a safe, heating and AC with a plentiful supply of tea or coffee complementary from reception along with cakes and other edible goodies.

But do come back to the Mar Bravo's restaurant  for delicious seafood.

The breakfast was good and we also loved eating on the patio at the restaurant.

The breakfasts were good and the staff was helpful.

At the breakfast the next morning (average at best), there were several other very bleary eyed older couples.

The staff were terrific, and the included breakfast was fantastic.

We also had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious.

but listening to the waves lull us to sleep was delicious.

The restaurant in the hotel has a good selection of very tasty food, everything we ate was really delicious - they offer 10% discount to the hotel guests, which was a nice surprise.

The breakfast was top notch with a wide selection of hot and cold items.

Very convenient with parking and breakfast included .

Breakfast was ok - the usual breads, meats, cheeses, yogurt, and some really nasty-looking black bananas.

The best part about the hotel was the view of the ocean from our room, its immediate access to the beach and boardwalk, and the its restaurant, including the breakfast,

My card in question was used that day and had 0 issues.

My credit card (booked through booking.com) had already been dinged for all 3 nights  We opted to bail after one night, forfeiting the last two, as we couldn't bear the thought of another night like the first one.

but you'll first need a card from Mar Bravo to get into it.

It’s the least they could do when charging the highest rates in town.

What is so disheartening is Hotel Mar Bravo charged us twice for our stay and have never once offered anything at all in return.

I contacted the hotel directly and they told me that they would not charge me

My credit card had been lost and replaced months ago and two other hotels did in fact request updated information, also months ago, not the day before.

But, you're staying at a seaside property with the soaring cliffs of Sitio on one side and the postcard card view of the beach right in front of you.

however, when we returned from an outing to Alcobaca and I went to the desk to ask for the key card for the nearby garage, the same receptionist told me that her "colleagues", presumably the housekeeping staff, and her "director" had checked into the matter and told her that we were at fault and that we had made the stains ourselves.

There were plugs available for charging, good WiFi in the room and down in the lobby and dining area.

In general I think this hotel is max worth  70 euros per night and not 120 as they were charging.

The only caveats about this hotel are the very, very small room size and an extra charge of 7 euro a night for Internet (we stayed with 12 hotels in Spain and Portugal, and none of the others tacked on a fee).

The only neggie is that the hotel charges for Internet usage -- we stayed in 20 hotels on our five week trip and only found three hotels that still do that --

However, due to the location be prepared for a lot of noise.

but just to let you know it can be a busy, even loud location.

Although that enhanced our views of the point, it also is the side that most of the seaside car traffic has to use to exit the area and hosts some venues that create noise into the late evening.

The only con is the hotel is a bit noisy.

but when you arrive at the hotel, the traffic and parking issues are immediately forgotten.

However, please note that any beach front room also exposes the visitor to noise and commotion from the central boardwalk, making sleeping less than optimal and certainly a deterrent to open windows at night.

but with the traffic and lack of parking space the garage was lucky star on a tourist sky.

Other reviews warned about street noise, so I was suspecting the worse,

The last night was difficult to sleep because of the noise from the street.

The noise and bright lights on the square below kept me awake all night.

Impossible to sleep with windows open – very noisy.

but for the same reason it is also rather noisy and cramped.

The highlight was sound of machinery in the room till 2300 with no help (room 303).

though the windows are double pane, there is a lot of street noise as people loiter on the beach across from the hotel until dawn.

but small and the room itself was minute.

The only down side was that the rooms were rather small.

Breakfast was skimpy, with juices made from powder (in Portugal!!).

Hotel needs serious updating, door to our room was falling apart.

Very average hotel that's in need of updating , the pool area was very tatty , location is not ideal and a taxi ride into Nazare , staff friendly and breakfast excellent , large car park.

but their air condition in the rooms needs to be fixed as it took a very long time to get the room temp down!

The buffet dinner was 25 Euros per person and it was so disgusting.

Every time the a/c went on smelled of a smoke.

My room was disgustedly filthy,I had to clean it myself as the manger wont show up to talk to me.

this facility is equilvent to a cheap holiday inn hotel in the u.s. at 72.00 e per night the rooms are cold and they smell of a musty odor from the floor carpets.

The bed was slightly uncomfortable, and the pillows were very cheap and nasty.

Room was not very clean, some sort of urine smell.

The first room we were given smelled so badly that we asked to move.

No properly finishing of the building, poor equipment and furniture qualitly at all levels, off resulting in broken tiles and paths, swimming pool, bathroom equipment, leaking drainage of upper terrasse.

We asked fot a non-smoking room and the receptionist laughed and said "this is a non-smoking hotel".

The continental Breakfast was really nice, lots of fresh fruit, the  coussants were delicious, the coffee suburb, and what a lovely dining room to eat it in, its set up on the top floor with views over the town, and the Ocean, and the lady looking after us in the dining room was very nice, making sure the food was replenished!

At first when we saw the location we thought it would be noisy

but not on the strip which is crowded and noisy.

This is a very busy city, with heavy traffic and the sights are not very nice like other Portuguese cities

They should consider putting felt pads on the chairs in the breakfast room as they make a lot of noise for those on the fourth floor.

There was street noise due to location so take ear plugs if light sleeper.

We were on the third floor and we're woken up at 7 am by moving chairs and closing of cabinets.

A bit noisy. Breakfast needs to be improved (could you do fresh orange juice and better coffee + add eggs ?)

but the old fashioned wardrobe seemed out of place

The water / sewage system was noisy all the time, night and day but I suppose that you get what you pay for !

There is not a lot of sound barrier between the rooms or the hallway so noise overnight was definitely an issue and the sleep was not very good.

In respect to street noise, our visit was in the slow season, I would suggest anyone concerned about it should avoid Nazare in the high season as most accommodation will be exactly that.

But t has two major problems:parking and noise.

My complain is the walls are so thin, I could hear next door, especially the toilet flushing, shower running, people outside in the hall way.

- though our room (2nd floor) was facing back street, and there were some noisy late uppers disturbing our sleep at 4 a.m.

Well the problem is that the walls are not very insulated so you hear everything that is going on in the streets.

The bad included, noise from the street, a tiny shower, smoker's scent in the room, an overly high price and the worst bed we have slept in in many years.

It is at the narrow and very traffic street, where cars are running all day long till around 1am.

Room old fashioned, very small, has a funny smell.

so it was twin beds in a room that stunk of cigarettes.

The rooms are very small and it smells like mildew in the bathroom because of the lack of ventilation.

There's a computer in the lobby you can use to access the internet, which is nice because the only internet cafe in Nazare is about a 15 minute walk away and is always filled with chain smokers.

Safe not working, very spare with really no decoration and minimalist white furniture, no hooks in bathroom, no place to hang towels and stuff.

I didn't give it a 5 star review because the shower head didn't work very well and was really high up to reach, the toilet was running continuously and above our room (411) was the gym and during the day you can hear people slamming weights on the floor or using the treadmill which made a thumping noise.

although the shower height was impossible for me to reach, thankfully my husband is quite a bit taller than me.

Our bathroom sink did not drain properly, which can be pretty disgusting after shaving, brushing your teeth, etc.

The bathroom design like others we have staid in with the swinging shower door is ridiculous.

There were a number of other features of this hotel that revealed a poor culture of customer service:
- light bulbs were burned out
-no lighting at all in the kitchenette
-loose towel bars in the bathroom
-no mirror or trash can in the bedroom.

There is no shower curtain (water sprays on the floor), lights go on and off via the room card key, and there is no Wi fi in the rooms, only the lounge.

For a 3 star hotel one wouldn't expect threading and torn bath towels.

BUT, it was a very nice location if you are wanting to be near the beach and the breakfast was very nice.

They have a nice breakfast buffet and a 24/7 staff presence!

Rooms were clean, spotless and breakfast was plentiful and varied.
