Great place to be based during a hiking trip to Laguna Grande or just a nice relaxing holiday in the mountains.

The Park Information Office down towards the river and campsite also has information on the walk to Laguna Grande and the Circo de Gredos.

Perfect starting point for trekking in the area: walking to Laguna Grande de Gredos in 4 hours return walk from the parking at la platform or simply walking one hour from the Tormes bridge to the camping site, easy.

Breakfasts at this hotel quite took us by surprise, they are enormous, served buffet style to your table and just as you think, that’s it, more food arrives!

The breakfast is served as a mini-buffet to your table .. far too much,

The food in the hotel was excellent- we had wonderful breakfasts, enormous packed lunches and good menu choices for the evening meals.

but everything cooked with natural ingredients.

(The cakes at breakfast were great as well).

The food at dinner and at breakfast was just great, imaginative, very fresh and light, with excellent presentation.

Breakfast consisted of lots of little things - juice, fruit, yoghurt, buns, tiny quiches, bread, jam and honey etc.

Also, you can't get the smoothie as they don't really do drinks; the closest you'll get is being offered a plastic beaker of water or fruit juice in the cramped reception area, which is also full of kids and their mothers ( so to is the gents changing room!).

Amazing hotel, amazing friendliness, service, food out of this world (and we are proper picky gits), a real hidden gem 💎 of a hotel and location!.

The hotel feels like a second home, has great restaurant featuring local specialties, and an observatory on the roof (operated by an astronomer who comes by on clear evenings).

We had a meal in a small restaurant, Drakar, in the village and again had superb food with excellent service.

This excellent small hotel hardly needs reviewers' comments beyond those already submitted: pleasant service, quality (and quantity) of food, extensive and reasonable wine list, comfortable room (ours was 'standard') beautiful surroundings and great walks of different kinds.

Dinner was excellent, good service, if a little slow at first.

The restaurant is very nice and the set menu is mouth watering.

although too full after the dinners to have it more than once.

There is a restaurant with a superb view of the mountains, and the meals were all to a good standard.

There is a nice lounge/bar to meet before and after dinner.

The food was absolutely amazing and after dinner one night we were able to go into the observatory with Paco and see through the telescope.

Stunning alpine scenery, beautiful river valleys, good botanising, excellent birdwatching, top class hiking for all abilities,peace and tranquility, a superbly run hotel with interesting, informative management, top notch food, an amazing wine list which also has many good value wines, a spa for any rainy days, a library full of interesting books etc., etc.

If you want to complete the pack, a nice Spa (Aguas de Gredos) is 10 meters away.

There is a spa next door, we asked there and were allowed to use just the pool for a minimal charge.

although small, has many amenities including shops, pharmacy, a spa, several bars and restaurants.

(There is little in the way of other activities hereabouts that we could see beyond some horse riding packages and the very good spa next door.)

Fab spa next door, and the star gazing was a great bonus.

Additionally there is a superb Spa next door, perfect after a day walking in the Sierra.

Whilst the hotel itself doesn't have a pool Teresa and Paco also own the Spa (aguas de gredos) across the road from the hotel which has a wonderful set of hydro pools and an indoor pool which I used when my wife was having some spa treatments.

You have to go on a mini spa journey, with a sequence of different jets that pummel different bits of you body.

Connected to the hotel is a spa which is the perfect place for the weary traveler, hiker, or biker to relax and rejuvinate.

The only slight niggle was a lack of drawer space as we just had a couple of small shelves in the wardrobe.

Even worse, the staff got a bit stroppy when I politely refused the offer of a drink; they didn't seem to understand that I might prefer to have a drink in my 4 star hotel (if I could have found someone to serve one) rather than their cramped room.

However, there are extra blankets in the cupboard.

The food (dinner and breakfast) was excellent.

There are lots of delicious Spanish options for breakfast, which is great for vegetarians.

The staff were good and breakfast offered a wide array of food, fresh fruit, breads , freshly cooked eggs to order etc., all in all pretty good.

Breakfast good, staff friendly and helpful.

There was plenty of space and large, comfortable lounges to sit and relax, we enjoyed their delicious menu of local foods, especially the trout and the staff who were unfailingly welcoming and highly professional.

Breakfast had an extensive range of options and rooms to the expected high Parador standard.

The next confusion was the missing price list for the minibar in the hotel room, so one could assume that the various soft drinks such as water or Coca-Cola are courtesy from the hotel.

However, it was disappointing to then see that they offer plastic straws in the restaurant and they wrap the cups in the bathroom in plastic too.

What I apreciated most, what the reception for our dog.

The receptionist also did tell us that if we didn't take the dog bed or bowl, they throw them away.

Noisy, could hear toilets and water and tvs and dogs.

but let down by poor acoustics , I suspect the inner door to the rooms was either not fitted or removed for whatever reason resulting in a somewhat noisy experience when guests or staff were near the corridor outside our door.

Sadly, the restauarant is on a lower level in the hotel with poor views out, a low ceiling and little character.

They also laid out breakfast for us so we could have breakfast before regular service and prepared lunch packets.

Lolly is a great cook, and they offered a great value package for breakfast and dinner.

but we had breakfast, which was traditionally spanish.

but functional bathroom.TV is Spanish only and wifi worked OK(better near reception) Breakfast was extra and Spanish ( bread, olive oil spreads,pastry).

The food was simply fantastic - clearly all home cooked, really well presented, and delicious.

The 3.50 breakfast was the best I have had in Spain.

We had a basic evening meal and breakfast in the bar and enjoyed both very much.

Location was great, especially for the new Polaris astronomy facility nearby, which I hope to use in the future.
