Carpet in dining room at breakfast still had the crumbs and bits of food on it from the previous nights dinner sitting.

I understand that if somebody spills something you may not be able to replace a carpet

Upon entering the room, we were greeted with a very stale smell, large stains on the carpet, very tired furniture, dated bathroom with some grouting issues and cracked floor tiles.

Only thing that could have been improved upon was the old carpets that were lying on the grass at the back, I assume some rooms must have had new carpeting during lockdown this was what we were looking out to from out family room and the open bottle skip was just below our window.

The room smelled of old carpets and desperately needed an overhaul.

· The front of the building was impressive, shame that when you stepped inside the carpet was grubby.

I noticed that the carpet felt a bit odd underfoot, and there was in fact a hole in the pile down to the hessian backing.

The carpet in the bedroom was also worn and torn in one area.

The carpets in the public areas were pretty dirty and were not cleaned during our stay.

Not really an issue because I had also set alarm on mobile phone,
Maintenance issues - Some frayed fabric in curtails and carpets, the latter particularly on staircases, moss on wooden window frames, condensation in double glazing in conservatory restaurant.

As another reviewer mentioned, the only negative thing I would have to say is that the carpets were a little worn.

The only negative would be that carpets in the room and breakfast room needed some tender loving care.

We selected a courtyard room, and while the furnishings were dated and the carpet needs to be replaced, the huge bed was awesome and the bath was updated with great hot water and water pressure in shower.

The hotel could do with a bit of a refurb in areas, such as our room which had a few marks on the walls and carpets.

One thing we noticed was that the carpet was very threadbare as was the next door room,pointed out by its occupants.

There was a faint odour of dampness in the very well appointed bathroom and the carpet had traces of previous stains as did some of the chairs.

The only tell tale signs of its need of TLC was some wear on the carpet and signs of repairs to the tiling in the bathroom.

The carpet that han been fitted was a trip hazard the decor looked tired and dated and the shower took forever to warm up with very little pressure, although we complained we did get another room

Lovely food, friendly staff and good service.

With the exception of the first person we met everyone has been kind, personable, and above all friendly.

We checked in at 2 and were greeted by a friendly reception staff.

Staff were friendly and breakfast, (we had the full Scottish) was delicious, set us up for the day.

Dinner and breakfast were delicious with ample choices and the staff were all efficient and friendly.

First impression of hotel was friendly, warm and inviting.

Very clean ,warm ,friendly .The rooms were lovely .

Friendly staff, our room was big and had all the creature comforts.

The staff at the hotel that we encountered were without exception polite and friendly, none more so than receptionists Genevieve and Nicola who were always on hand with suggestions and advice about local attractions such as Fort George and Cawdor Castle both of which we visited and thoroughly enjoyed.

but the Hotel is let down by basics that are not maintained.Leaking shower,bad paintwork,doors not closing properly etc.None of these are big jobs but are not getting done.Such a pity as the staff are very friendly and helpful and the basic setting is lovely.

All I can say is an an amazing stay, from the minute we got there the warm and friendly welcome we received,  to the fantastic room, top off by the brilliant staff all genuine and happy to help, thank you all for our wonderful stay, I would recommend to everyone, absolutely brilliant from stat to finish

Covid regulations were being adhered to very strictly on other areas, this was obviously an oversight, which their Head Housekeeper should have picked up on. The ladies on reception were very welcoming and friendly, the lady who organised and served breakfast (on her own!)

Thoroughly enjoyed a 3 night stay here in room 210 a large superior room the hotel was quiet and tastefully furnished the staff are very friendly it was like staying in a large manor house.

Staff are helpful and friendly, the food in Chaplins restaurant is very good, and breakfast was good too - helped by the 2 wonderfully helpful women serving each day.

Hotel is set in lovely grounds and friendly Highland cow neighbours.

The property and surrounding grounds are beautiful.

The grounds near the hotel are also very pretty and a short walk to the beach nearby was nice in the evening.

The hotel sits in it's own expansive grounds at the edge of town so it's quiet without being remote - no more than a 10 minute walk to the beach and golf club  and a great place for a relaxing break.

The hotel is imposing and sits in large grounds.

The hotel has lots of ground and 2 residents highland coos, it has along drive with plenty of parking space.

Check in was smooth and our room was large and airy, good quality furnishings and a fantastic power shower get the thumbs up from us

The grounds are beautiful and you can walk 10 minutes to the North Sea.

The peace and quiet and lovely grounds were beyond our expectations.

The hotel is in a nice location with lovely grounds and a 10 - 15 minute walk from the beach on a path that crosses the golf course.

Grounds are lovely. Slightly let down by beer being a bit warm and flat and breakfast scrambled eggs containing quite a lot of water (rehydrated eggs?)

I visited this hotel recently with my dad who grew up in Nairn, I thought the grounds and the hotel were extremely well maintained and clean and had a real Highland feel about the whole place, this was helped by Highland Cows living on the grounds.

The grounds were absolutely beautiful and the biggest enjoyment we had was seeing the Coo's grazing in the field.

Oh BTW they have Highland Coo's on the hotel grounds, a little bonus.

but there is also a nice woodland walk next to the hotel and some Highland Cows outside to go have a wee look at.

An excellent base to explore the Scottish Highlands.

Beautiful setting in Scottish highlands and close base for all travel needed.

We took the time to visit the resident Highland Coos in the field across from the hotel.

Oh and the lovely wee Highland coos on sight were so cute! !

We highly recommend Muthu Newton Hotel visiting the Highlands.

Christmas decorations were lovely as well and it was lovely to see that they still had the tree highland cows in the field in front of the hotel.Would definitely return again and we were very surprised at the price, excellent value.

Surrounded by lawn wood and even has highland cows.

One really cool thing about the hotel is the fact that there’s a field along the driveway where three Highland cows reside, and for £2.00 the hotel will give you a bucket of hay to feed them.

The driveway lined with mature trees leads to the hotel and the 3 onsite Highland cows.

There are several Highland Cattle (hairy coos) on the Property.

Such a wonderful property and proper hotel in the highlands!

Even the on-site highland cows added to this magical place.

The hotel is located on a splendid property with good access to all highland excursions.

but you need a car.The hotel was set in beautiful grounds with 3 Highland cows which were very friendly !

However the dinner menu was limited and food served was bland, dinner service poor and bar poorly stocked, when I asked for a liqueur coffee the barman didn't have a clue and was quite rude.

Please read the poor, average and terrible reviews on TripAdvisor about this hotel dating back some 7/8 years as the same problems are still happening nothing has changed not even the decor.

We had dinner on the Friday evening, the menu choice was very poor, I had fish n chips and was definitely taken from the freezer and dumped into the deep fat fryer, not great.

Slightly disappointing was the poor shower, a cold trickle.

The presentation was very poor and the afternoon tea was not as described on their brochure.

Breakfast on both days was poor and on Sunday morning it was disorganised chaos with more than a dozen people queuing outside the breakfast room for over 20 minutes to be seated.

but very dated the over the bath shower was poor and had a simple bargain basement shower curtain????

but on this occasion, I just had to say something, and I got the impression that I would be wasting my time telling the poor girl on reception.

but reception staff were poor on engagement; poor sound insulation; you could hear creaking floorboards from guests next door or upstairs.

but is very tired with poor furniture and lacking accessories, beds are good but no tissues, thin, small towels, shampoo etc not renewed.

The lighting was very poor, 2 bedside table lamps and one lamp on the dressing table, no ceiling lights which I found odd.

but nothing great The food quality was a bit poor as if they were trying to cut corners and the breakfast room/restaurant decor was visibly tired.

This is where the hotel kind of fell down, the service in the bar was poor, in fact myself and other guests had to go looking for bar staff and even after they were found you were still kept waiting at the bar !!

This poor condition is sadly conflicted on all Audi drivers.

A very poor example of customer care and we would not recommend this hotel, there are far better hotels nearby for about the same price.

Wifi very poor in room could not use my iPad reported this same time as lamp.

The main gripe was in the food area was in the vegetarian dishes which when compared to the meat dishes were poor.

When we've stayed, there have been many people with pets and I feel this is an extremely poor decision.

The only highlight of the visit may I say 

The room I stayed was in much need of refresh and the TV  only offered the main channels and with very poor reception   Wi fi was not great either and no biscuits, obvious cut backs  
Last thing at night and in the morning the corridor and indeed ajoining rooms were quite noisy from what i percieived as contractors returning from an evening out and departing early   

At breakfast I waited what seemed like 10 minutes

The hotel is a stunning property in a lovely setting rooms clean and tidy.

The spotless rooms are very large as are the modern bathrooms.

I need not have worried, from the moment we parked up (then charged the electric car very handily in the car park) and walked through the front doors we knew we had chosen well.

All these things have made me wonder if families are actually not really wanted here which is a shame as loved the setting, area , the walls the views and the staff were manly lovely - was grateful fir the barman who informed me of the £7.50 room service charge for 2 glasses of  bedtime milk for the kids ( no fridge in room)so I could go down 1 flight of stairs and get it myself and leave a tip!

The bill, when it came (after asking) contained the “optional” service charge which, had we noticed at the time, we would have asked to be removed.

We were charged for the full bottle of wine

If the service had been unacceptable, I would have needed to ask for the charge to be removed, to the embarrassment of the waiter and to me.

Please also note they charge for the coffee served with the breakfast and without even asking for consent add 10% “optional “ service charge to all food and drinks.

With the service we received I don’t think the optional service charge should not have been added.

We were not charged for this as we returned them.

But only charged for one of the mornings drinks not both, which doesn’t really make sense?

Wine charged at £20 makes us wonder if a glass of wine was £10, given we had two glasses-

If that wasn't enough, we were charged £25 each for this experience.

We were then charged for our sweets which hadn't been mentioned before ordering and they were not cheap or worth the money.

Didn't see one person in charge at breakfast, a couple of minor things cropped up

Some 75 minutes later, after waiting for a obnoxious duty manager to say to us that she can't authorise a refund and we can't get it just now as there is a problem with the card machines within the hotel.

I thought the charge for soak-off rather high.

When I checked the bill we had been overcharged by nearly £20 as the kids meals were charged as component parts in addition to the fixed price.

And the bill was wrong (we’d been charged again for the pre-paid spa treatments).

Double check and can see directly, I’ve been charged for the room, which I’ve paid already in advance, so he took it off.

We were charged £15 each for this and £2.80 for a small glass of coke.

We were asked for our desert order 3 times and had 2 desserts charged after only ordering one.

The Spa facilities were far beyond my expectations- the himalayian salt room, the experience shower,the spectacular stone bath room 👌 I travel all around the world and I had never ever had such an amazing experience.

It’s a shame as the staff have not been trained enough to use the booking system and could have saved the OTA fees… I know staff resources are precious at the moment so I empathise …setting this aside it’s a lovely hotel in an idyllic location the facilities are great and we will certainly go back.

Linzi the Spa receptionist  is very professional, and an asset to her team and the facilities were very clean.

It’s a pity we live quite far away otherwise we would be there each day to use the fantastic swimming pool and spa facilities as well as treating ourselves to a lovely hospitality on offer.

I STRONGLY advice people to enjoy this hotel, enjoy the pool facilities.

Amazing spa facilities with fantastic views from the hot tub.

We both enjoyed the spa treatments and where amazed by the spa facilities everything was very clean, and the pool temperature was prefect.

We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea and dinner, the sea feature room was marvellous, we greatly enjoyed the newly refurbished spa facilities and we loved our congratulations slate of treats in the room!

We had an absolutely wonderful time, thanks in part to the beautiful location, excellent hotel facilities and superb service from the friendly staff.

The swimming pool and hot tub were a welcoming haven after our long walks.

The restaurant need to improve to remain in line with the rest of the hotel and facilities.

The rooms are excellent, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and equipped with everything that you need.

On arrival greeted by thoroughly professional reception host in Megan who explained the various facets of the hotel and facilities with details of the necessary Covid enforced restrictions - naturally beyond everyone's control

We really enjoyed our stay and the use of the Spa facilities.

We were able to make use of the leisure facilities with little or no restrictions which was great and very relaxing.

They were happy to show us round the hotel, and the swimming pool and spa area.

The tennis courts are wonderful and an excellent facility as well.

The spa and pool plus lots of extras such as relaxation areas, steam room/sauna/hot tubs were all immaculately clean and the decor and ambience was so relaxing and more than comparable to a 5 star spa.

We loved the pool / hot tub / tennis courts too.

The outside hot tub remains one of our favourite spots.

Spa still has bit of work going on, pool good and outdoor hot tub over looking sea and snowy mountains is a great setting.

The outdoor hot tub whilst watching the sea crash onto the beach is delightful.

From the victorian decor to an outdoor hot tub it's a perfect retreat..

The personalised headline page provided much needed information pertinent to your vist was a nice touch.

We absolutely adored the outdoor hot tub and got good use of this.

Social distance was maintained in all parts of hotel.. We really enjoyed the facilities such as hot tub would have loved a glass of wine

The hot tub outside is a must looking over to the Black Isle on a morning after a lovely swim.

We then returned to the hot tub and pool before getting changed and going for food ( included ) in the restaurant, affording fabulous views.

The pool is really warm which is a rare treat with the addition of a roasting hotjacuzzi and an outdoor hot tub.

The pool, outside hot tub and sauna were very much  appreciated.

The hot tub and pool facilities were great, as were the staff - very helpful.

but having spa is good to pass the day,hot tub fantastic.

The spa facilities are also incredible, pool, sauna, steam room, outdoor hot tub take your pick, with some truly breathtaking scenery to enjoy at the same time.

We enjoyed the quality facilities (hot tub was my favourite!

but the food and beverage service (not food) was very poor.

We will see what this evening brings, more funny stories of poor service.

However service was also poor despite there not being many in the restaurant.

We had 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts, and on 3 of those 4 occasions, the service was poor.

but service poor especially at lunch time that is if you can get a table !!

Unfortunately our stay was spoiled by the poor service in the restaurant.

I did find the car park somewhat tight at times, More so with the bigger cars taking up more or less 2 spots, Or folk with poor parking abilities.

We had our evening meal and afternoon tea at the restaurant and thought both were poor.

The only negative was a lukewarm welcome and poor experience of booking table times.

We all tasted it (three-quarters was left untouched)  and all agreed it was very poor.

Very poor standard of customer service and interaction from Crerar Hotel staff and management.

So we checked in at 3pm, arrived in the room, clean (apart from red wine rim in the bathroom beside the bath) No soap in bathroom, very poor for what we paid for the room!

A poor deal of £20 - I had to pinch some of my husband's chips because I was still hungry.

This will simply encourage poor hygiene in reluctant hand washers with obvious health consequences for other guests.

The last few time I or Family have eaten in the golf view Conservatory the service has been poor and that being polite.

but order mixed up as new computers for waitresses but wi go too poor for them to work!

After the Spa facilities I received a massage from Fiona - she definitely has a gift,the best relaxing massage I ever had, it was angelic, I felt like a feather afterwards and had the best night sleep ever ❤ my sister in law had a pregnancy massage by Terri - we just can't thank Terri enough for reducing all the pains and ackes.

Lovely pool, steam rooms, jacuzzis inside and out, with incredible views, and the thermal experience was so relaxing too.

We are both in our 80’s and really 3njoyed relaxing in the lovely lounge with windows looking onto the sea.

The room was stunning, on entering classic FM was playing on the DAB radio which also added to the relaxation.

I had a mum to be massage by kasia and it was amazing, I felt so relaxed.

We feel so relaxed and will definitely be returning.

We had the most relaxing day before our wedding Sonata and Kasia done our treatments of ishga full body massages, facial and exfoliating scrub.

We particularly appreciated all the small things behind the scenes - requests to have windows open, seamless adjusting of drinks/canapes, a table and knife laid out for cake etc - all contributed to our party having a completely relaxed and memorable day.

though we live a short car journey away i've managed to convince my husband to book us in for a spa retreat which we are both looking forward too.

Would thoroughly recommend to any couples looking to enjoy a serene and relaxing romantic get-away.

A peaceful way to end a day, wine included.

We have full use of the spa facilities which were lovely and I had a fabulous full body massage which was so nice and relaxing.

We have just spent a weekend at Golf View Spa Hotel in Nairn, we've had a very peaceful and enjoyable weekend.

After dinner we then had drinks in the lounge, which again was so relaxing.

although they were in place there was till a very relaxed atmosphere.

Our junior suite room was spotlessly clean and the food in the restaurant was of an excellent standard - both at dinner and breakfast.

The room was clean with a great sea view.
